After the explosions, JNIM terrorists opened fire on the government forces and Russian paramilitaries. Heavy W-85 machine guns mounted on pickups were used, triggering intense fighting.
RPGs, PKMs, AK-103s, and AKMs were also deployed.

[Rudaw] A suspected guided missile struck a hillside near a village in the Soran Administration late Wednesday, triggering a fire that was contained without casualties, the local civil defense directorate told Rudaw.
Rawand Maghdid, spokesperson for the Soran Civil Defense Directorate, told Rudaw's Andam Jabar the earth-shattering kaboom was heard at around 11:30 pm 400 meters behind Badlian village, five kilometers north of Soran, and that 14 firefighting units were deployed to the scene.
"It turned out to be an attack; initially, it wasn't clear if it was [from] a drone or a missile, but after containing [the fire], it appears most likely to have been a guided missile attack... based on information I received from the teams on the ground," Maghdid said, pending investigation, adding that "Fortunately, there were no casualties of any kind."

On August 12, four drones struck locations across Soran, Khalifan, and Harir districts around 6:00 am local time. Two drones crashed in Khalifan, while another struck a civilian home in Soran and one crashed in Harir, where it caused a fire in the brushwood and grasslands of the Bani Harir mountains.
On August 17, two explosive drones launched from Iran targeted the private office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the residence of the director of the Kurdistan Region Security Council in Erbil’s Pirmam district, according to the Region’s counterterrorism authorities. Another strike in Khan Younis, on Monday, killed Razek Sahil Suleiman Abu Shahma, also a Nukhba Force terrorist who invaded the Re’im Base on October 7, according to the IDF. Abu Shahma also previously served as Sinwar’s bodyguard, the military said.
The IDF justified the strikes during the ceasefire by saying that both terrorists had been advancing attacks on troops and civilians, as well as trying to restore Hamas capabilities, “all in violation of the ceasefire agreement.”
The strikes were carried out to “remove the threat,” the military said.
Additionally, the Israeli Air Force bombed a Hamas site in the northern Gaza Strip on Wednesday, which the IDF said Thursday was located next to a hospital and school. The facility in Jabalia had served Hamas as an “ambush position,” as well as to store weapons, according to the military. The IDF said that recently, Hamas planned attacks and worked to restore the terror group’s capabilities from the building.
The strike killed several Hamas operatives, according to the army.
The military said the “ambush position” was located some 50 meters from the military’s Yellow Line in the area, and had therefore “posed a threat to IDF troops operating in the area.” It was also located some 70 meters from Kamal Adwan Hospital, and 170 meters from a school, the IDF said.
In recent months, the IDF has stepped up its efforts to kill Palestinian terrorists involved in October 7, justifying the strikes amid the ceasefire by claiming that the targets had “posed an immediate threat.”

The report said one of the accounts the man allegedly contacted belonged to Avichay Adraee, the Arabic-language spokesperson for the Israeli military. Lebanese sources told MTV that despite the man’s attempts, the Israeli accounts did not respond to his messages.
According to MTV, prosecutors allege the man attempted to provide information about Hezbollah and certain locations in Lebanon.
The report added that Claude Ghanem, a prosecutor at Lebanon’s military court, charged the Afghan man with attempting to spy for Israel and referred the case to the country’s first military investigating judge for further legal proceedings.
Lebanese authorities have not publicly identified the suspect or disclosed his legal status in the country. No additional personal details have been released.

They used to have 200,000, if I recall correctly, all aimed at Israel in house attics, mosques, spare bedrooms, deserted monasteries, tunnels… But they shot some off what they could after 10/7, and then the IDF took its turn, having long since mapped the location of pretty much everything and everyone Hezbollah. Iran has already started restocking them, but storage places are fewer than there used to be.
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Internal Security forces in Syria’s Latakia governorate arrested two former regime major generals, Haitham Barakat and his brother Marwan, during a security operation in Qardaha, the force said on Thursday.
The Latakia Internal Security Command said its forces carried out a “precise and well-planned” operation that led to the arrest of the two brothers.
Haitham Barakat was among the prominent field commanders in the former regime’s forces. He commanded the 12th Field Division and served as commander of the 123rd Infantry Regiment during the Syrian war.
The security command also said information indicated that two other brothers of the detainees had been arrested, one holding the rank of major general and the other that of colonel.
