Al-Shabab fighters launched overnight attacks and ambushes against AUSSOM positions in Qoryooley and Golweyn, under Buulo Mareer district in Lower Shabelle. Troops Recover Terrorist Body, Fabricated Ladder After Mandaragirau Attack

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recovered the body of a suspected Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist and a fabricated ladder following an attempted infiltration attack on 162 Amphibious Battalion in Mandaraguirau, Borno State.
According to a Special Situation Report obtained by Zagazola Makama, the recovery was made on Aug. 17 during further exploitation of the area following the attempted terrorist attack.
The report said troops of 162 Amphibious Battalion conducted the exploitation at about 10 a.m. and discovered the body of one terrorist alongside a fabricated ladder believed to have been used in the attempted infiltration.

At least 24 bandits were killed on Tuesday after soldiers of the Nigerian Army, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Katsina Community Watch Corps foiled an attempt to mass-kidnap persons in Gidan Bawa village, Kandarawa Ward, Bakori Local Government Area of the state.
According to a security source, the operation followed sustained intelligence which uncovered plans by about 40 gunmen loyal to notorious bandit kingpin, Isiya Kwashen Garwa,
…emir of Fulani bandits…
to invade the village and abduct many residents, especially women and children.
The plot, sources said, was intended to replicate the mass abduction of residents of Woro community in Kwara State, ostensibly to embarrass the government.
[PJMEDIA] A 35-year-old Albany, N.Y., woman is in federal custody for allegedly planting a bomb in the State Capitol building with lawmakers inside.
Details are still thin, but I'll give you what we know and some choice reactions.
A Fox News breaker reports that the FBI told the network that a suspect named Jessica Bowie plotted to kill New York lawmakers after she "pledged allegiance to ISIS," more accurately known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
Bowie allegedly planned to hide a bomb inside a DoorDash bag, "hoping to strike while state senators were meeting."
Wednesday, Bowie allegedly bought from two FBI informants what she thought was an explosive device, but was actually inert, according to the bureau.
After having FBI informants as her besties, she’ll never trust again…
She was also given a non-functioning handgun.
Tom Winter at NBC News posted that Bowie is "expected in court at 2pm today to face a single count of material support for ISIS," which means the hearing might still be going on as I write these words.
Winter added, "The FBI says Bowie wanted to bomb the NY State House in the name of ISIS and they say she praised the September 11th attacks."
"Praise be to Allah for September 11th," an account linked to Bowie allegedly posted on May 28, according to Newsweek. That same report continued: "Several social media accounts linked to Bowie posted messages indicating support for terrorism between May and July, according to a criminal complaint unsealed Thursday."
I haven't yet been able to locate any of these social media accounts, but I'm still working on it.

Bowie can be seen on what appears to be video surveillance purchasing nails at a hardware store. Nails are often added to improvised explosive devices to serve as deadly shrapnel. It isn't entirely clear from the grainy images whether Bowie's face and body have been blacked out or whether she's wearing a hijab or similar garment — but I think it's a hijab.
Bowie reportedly converted to Islam five years ago and began planning the thwarted attack in July. It isn't yet clear how she popped up on the FBI's radar — whether the bureau sicced undercover informants on her, or whether the informants went to the FBI first.
According to the criminal complaint via the Post, Bowie "also allegedly tracked the Capitol building for weeks, taking pictures from various vantage points including an 'observation hall nearby.'” It remains unclear how blowing up some New York State legislators advances the cause of ISIS, but you just never know what goes on in the minds of would-be killers.
A criminal complaint obtained by Newsweek alleges Bowie converted to Islam about five years ago, adopted the name "Aisha Saif," maintained numerous social media accounts promoting extremist views and spent weeks conducting reconnaissance around the Capitol.
An FBI source posing as an ISIS operative then communicated with Bowie via encrypted message in mid-July, with Bowie discussing her plans to attack the New York State Capitol building in Albany over the course of two weeks, according to the complaint.
According to public documents reviewed by Newsweek, Bowie, while living in Albany in 2008, was registered as a Democratic voter. In 2020, as a Schenectady resident, Bowie registered as an independent.
According to the indictment, she added to the informant on an encrypted messaging app that she had “picked up some anarchist literature at the social justice center” which “could have some good tips.”

Fortunately, this recent convert to Islam was incompetent.
A lot of them probably are incompetent but then there are a few like Nidal Hasen who killed over a dozen back in 2009 in what Obama said was 'workplace violence'.

[IsraelTimes] Musab Abu Rukbah returned home after Vienna court sentenced him to 8 years in jail for torture, sexual assault of Assad critics while serving as head of Raqqa police investigations
Syrian security forces have arrested a former Assad-era security officer who fled Austria after being sentenced to eight years in prison for abusing detainees and returned to his hometown in southern Syria, state news agency SANA said on Tuesday night.
Lt. Col. Musab Abu Rukbah was arrested in the city of Nawa in Daraa province by internal security forces in coordination with the counter-terrorism department, SANA said, citing the security forces.
Abu Rukbah was convicted by a Vienna court last month of bodily harm, aggravated coercion and sexual assault against detained opponents of former president Bashar al-Assad while he headed the police’s criminal investigations department in the northern city of Raqqa more than a decade ago.
He had pleaded not guilty.
Reuters reported on Friday that Abu Rukbah had left Austria while challenging his eight-year sentence on appeal, and arrived in Nawa in early August, where his family held a reception to celebrate his return.
SANA said on Tuesday that Abu Rukbah had entered Syria illegally after fleeing Austria and that authorities had tracked him down in Nawa. He had been referred to the relevant authorities to complete legal procedures ahead of prosecution, it said.
It was not immediately clear what charges Abu Rukbah could face in Syria or whether Austria had requested his arrest or extradition.
A spokesperson for the Austrian court that convicted him told Reuters at the time that Abu Rukbah had not been considered a flight risk before his trial because he had lived in Austria since 2014 and was seeking asylum there with his family.
He was not held in custody during the trial or subjected to other restrictions, and his departure from Austria did not breach Austrian laws or court orders while the appeals process remained underway, the spokesperson said.
[IsraelTimes] Lebanon’s judicial authorities have decided to hand over a former senior Syrian military officer under ousted president Bashar al-Assad to Damascus after questioning him over crimes he allegedly committed during the country’s conflict, officials say.
Maj. Gen. Adel Issa will be the first military officer to be handed over by Lebanon since Assad’s fall in late 2024. He is expected to stand trial in his home country. There are no immediate details on the alleged crimes.
The decision comes days after a vote in parliament that made Lebanon the first Arab country to abolish the death penalty, a step that will become formal once it is published in the Lebanese Official Gazette.
The judicial officials say Issa is being handed over to Syria in accordance with a 1951 agreement between the countries that calls for handing over suspected criminals.
Issa is taken by members of Lebanon’s General Security Directorate, who will drive him to a border crossing and hand him over to Syrian authorities, two judicial and two security officials say. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.
Issa was questioned last week by judge Ahmad Rami Hajj, Lebanon’s public prosecutor at the Court of Cassation, over alleged crimes he had committed in Syria’s eastern province of Deir Ezzor and the northern province of Raqqa during Syria’s civil war that broke out in 2011.
The judicial officials tell The Associated Press that Issa denied all the charges against him, saying he was a military officer carrying out orders.
The Syrian embassy in Beirut sent Issa’s charge sheet to Lebanese judicial authorities earlier this month, the officials say.
