There is something almost deliciously ironic about this story coming out of Bengaluru.
For nearly half a century, Pakistan has made a business out of exporting terrorism into India, recruiting and radicalising Indian Muslim youth in the name of Islam, jihad, Kashmir and Ghazwa-e-Hind, and sending them after the Indian state. Attacking the Indian Army has, for Pakistan’s security establishment and its jihadist proxies, often been treated almost as a matter of faith.
Now, the tables appear to be turning.
Bengaluru Police have arrested Asaful Mallick, a native of West Bengal, working as a security guard in an industrial area of Bengaluru, for planning to cross over to Pakistan-occupied Afghan territory along the Durand Line and undergo training for an attack against the Pakistan Army. He had reportedly befriended a TTP operative online and was in touch with him.
And his reasons are particularly interesting.
He was reportedly angry with the Pakistan Army over its atrocities against mosques and people in Pakistan, and over Pakistan’s position on the Israel-Palestine conflict. He was also apparently unhappy with Pakistan’s growing proximity to Israel under Asim Munir’s leadership.
What??? Pakistan just tried to get its partners Saudi Arabia and Turkey to join in attacking Israel. What on earth can a Jew-hater find to object to in that?? See —dumb as a box of hair.
Just imagine the irony.
For decades, Pakistan has assumed that it can weaponise Muslim identity against India. It has tried to convince Indian Muslims that their religious identity makes them natural enemies of the Indian state. But what happens when a Muslim youth looks across the border and concludes that it is Pakistan’s military that is the problem?
That is precisely the kind of blowback Pakistan should have anticipated.
And notice something else. It was the Indian police who acted against him. An FIR was filed by the sub-inspector himself after a lead from an informant, and the suspect was then traced to an under-construction building near Jigani.

According to the IDF, the strike killed Ali Samir al-Haj Hassan, a battalion commander in Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, along with several more Hezbollah operatives involved in advancing attacks on troops.
"At the time of the strike, Hassan’s family was also present with him inside the military headquarters and, according to the claim, was harmed in the strike. It should be emphasized that the family members were not the target of the strike. The strike was specifically directed at Hassan, who was a lawful target under international law. The terrorist used his family as human shields, hiding alongside them inside the military headquarters," the IDF said in a statement.

The IDF says the Saturday morning strike on Ali Muhammad Fakhr al-Din came in response to a Hezbollah explosive drone attack in the pre-dawn hours Saturday that seriously wounded three soldiers.
Lebanese media reported that the Deir al-Zahrani strike on Saturday morning killed two people.
Al-Din, also known as Abu Hassan Alaa, is identified by the IDF as a “senior commander” in Hezbollah’s Badr regional division. The regional unit is tasked with the area north of the Litani River.
The IDF says that as part of his role, Hassan Alaa took part in numerous attacks on Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.

The MQ-9 Reaper is a remotely piloted aircraft used by the U.S. military for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions, as well as other operations. U.S. officials have reported significant losses of Reaper drones during the conflict, including aircraft operating around the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian state-linked media did not provide independent evidence establishing the identity or nationality of the aircraft reported to have been destroyed on Friday. No U.S. military response to the specific claim was included in the material available for this report.
