Presumptive Democratic congresswoman and Zohran Mamdani-backed socialist Darializa Avila Chevalier, 32, is dating Mamdani's chief legal counsel, 48-year-old Ramzi Kassem, who is best known for defending al Qaeda terrorists, including a "close associate" of the late Osama bin Laden ...... who has left the building...... Chevalier confirmed the relationship in a statement shared with City & State.
City & State reported that the couple became official in 2023, when Kassem helped Chevalier, a City University of New York graduate student, with her research paper "analyzing the racism and Islamophobia ...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do... of a Customs & Border Protection anti-terror unit."
Mamdani tapped Kassem, who teaches at CUNY's law school, to serve as his chief counsel in January. Before that, Kassem represented a slew of al Qaeda terrorists, including Ahmed al-Darbi, who was convicted in 2017 for the bombing of a French oil tanker, and several other Guantanamo Bay detainees, most notably Shaker Aamer, a "close associate of Osama bin Laden" who fought in the 2001 Battle of Tora Bora, where U.S. forces stormed an al Qaeda complex in Afghanistan where bin Laden was hiding.
Both Kassem and Chevalier were deeply involved in anti-Israel campus activism while students at Columbia University.
Kassem, who attended Columbia College before moving on to Columbia Law School on a fellowship funded by Paul Soros, lobbied to rename a sandwich called the "Israeli wrap" in the student dining hall, claiming the terminology was offensive to Moslems. Chevalier cofounded Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD), the notoriously holy warrior campus group that openly supports "armed resistance" by Hamas ..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",... and posted a statement declaring "Death to America" after the United States launched the war against Iran. Kassem defended the Syrian-born Columbia graduate student and CUAD organizer Mahmoud Khalil after the Trump administration revoked his green card.
The relationship is an indicator that the krazed killer Democratic Socialists of America are embracing the tactics of establishment figures in the Democratic Party, using romantic relationships to climb the political ladder.
Chevalier started dating Kassem well before launching her congressional campaign, placing her closer to Mamdani and better positioning her to receive his endorsement. Indeed, a Mamdani spokeswoman told City & State that the New York City mayor "has been aware of their relationship for some time" and discussed Chevalier's campaign with Kassem before endorsing her. It's aligned with the political moves of Kamala Harris former senatrix from California, 2020 Dem presidential hopeful and ultimately Joe Biden's intended successor , who dated Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Democratic kingmaker Willie Brown before launching her first political campaign for the Socialist paradise of San Francisco ...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964... district attorney.
[ZERO] Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) - fresh off endorsing California's November ballot measure to seize 5% of billionaire wealth - published a Substack essay Wednesday titled, no really, "Why I Support a Billionaire Wealth Tax."
"The tax should not stop at billionaires, it must reach centimillionaires," Khanna writes, before spelling out exactly what that means: every fortune of $50 million and up,

hit with a 2% federal levy on wealth above that line - every year, forever, on top of everything else you already pay. The vehicle is Elizabeth Warren's Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act, which Khanna notes he has cosponsored every single year it's been introduced.
And before anyone reaches for the estate planner: Khanna wants the levy to pierce irrevocable trusts, with the tax billed to the grantor who set them up - because parking a fortune in a trust, in his telling, shouldn't take it off the government's books.
Former Microsoft executive Steven Sinofsky summed up the reveal in eight words: "Just like that, no longer a billionaires tax."
How about simple Maximum TAX Amendment.
Where the most a citizen may be taxed on their WORKING WAGES is 15%? Let the Metros, States, & Feds fight over the splitting.

Since, they already tax every item a dozen times, before a taxpayer buys it in the store anyway. Eliminating all end user consumable taxes on basic survival needed items. Like food, water, energy and other living consumables (clothing and etc)?

I am convinced that if we get a Dem administration and Congress in '28, that will be openly and directly proposed. It won't be called that, mind you; there will be some clever acronym that doesn't mention the word 'confiscation', but that's what it'll be. Of course, it'll be interesting to see what happens when people crash investment funds trying to get their money. So watch for little things, rules and reg changes about how much you can pull out, how it's taxed.

The government has already printed 38 trillion they never collected so why tax any more other than simply punish people for being successful? Now if they attained it illegally, I can see the confiscation argument.

Aw, hell Ro, I'm no millionaire but I have some extra room in my house. Why don't you just assign an immigrant family to move in with us? We'll have fun sharing the kitchen and bathrooms. Then you can let a bunch of hobos set up camp in my back yard.
