“The Attorney General has authorized and directed the government not to seek the death penalty against Defendant Vance Luther Boelter in accordance with the terms delineated in a proposed plea agreement,” assistant US attorneys Bradley M. Endicott and Matthew D. Forbes wrote in a letter to the court Wednesday.

FBI Director Kash Patel announced Wednesday that Said Abdullahi Ereg, a former Minneapolis grocery and deli owner, had surrendered to federal authorities, marking the first person on the FBI’s new "Most Wanted Fraudsters" list to be taken into custody as federal authorities continue a nationwide fraud crackdown.
Said Abdullahi Ereg, 47, faces charges including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud and money laundering.
The FBI said Ereg, a former south Minneapolis grocery and deli owner, surrendered to federal authorities less than a week after the Justice Department unveiled its "Most Wanted Fraudsters" list, which is intended to publicly identify individuals charged in major fraud cases.
"Today’s arrest is historic – the first ever arrest of a subject on our Most Wanted Fraudsters List released last week with the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud," Patel said in a statement.
Authorities said Ereg has been wanted on federal charges since 2024 and is fraudulently obtaining more than $4.2 million from the Federal Child Nutrition Program during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to federal officials, Ereg operated Evergreen Grocery and Deli, a Minneapolis grocery store and deli under the sponsorship of the nonprofit Feeding Our Future.
Prosecutors allege he falsely claimed to have served meals to children in need, fraudulently obtained government reimbursements and laundered the proceeds through foreign accounts while using some of the money to finance a lavish lifestyle.
Court documents allege Evergreen Grocery and Deli claimed to have served more than 3,000 meals twice daily, seven days a week.
"Led by Vice President Vance and the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, we set up the historic, first ever 'Most Wanted Fraudsters' list for this exact purpose — to bring to justice the alleged worst of the worst who took advantage of American taxpayers and stole public funds," Patel said.
He added that the list serves as a warning that "the days of Washington, D.C., turning a blind eye to fraud are over."
In a post on X, Patel suggested the arrest was only the beginning of a broader enforcement effort.
Federal officials said Ereg contacted authorities through his attorney and expressed a willingness to return to the United States one day after the FBI launched the "Most Wanted Fraudsters" list.
The Justice Department also noted that Ereg's wife, Najmo Ahmed, who worked at the business and received payroll payments directly from Feeding Our Future, pleaded guilty last year to money laundering charges and is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.
The man wanted by the FBI for his role in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme surrendered peacefully on Wednesday at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen held a presser Wednesday to announce that Said Abdullahi Ereg, 47, was taken into custody by federal law enforcement after returning to the United States from Kenya.

Rosen said that Ereg communicated through counsel his intentions to return to the U.S. one day after Vice President JD Vance listed him as one of the FBI's most wanted. The FBI and Homeland Security then facilitated his travel from Kenya to the U.S.
Ereg is accused of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering.
"Just six days ago, the FBI added Said Abdullahi Ereg to the FBI's newly launched Most Wanted Fraudsters list," said Chris Dotson, a special agent in charge of the FBI's Minneapolis Field Office. "Mr. Ereg is the first fraudster on that list to be taken into custody."
Ereg is one of nearly 80 people who have been charged in connection with the roughly $300 million scheme.

[FoxNews] Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas has fielded a proposal to cut off pay and power from House and Senate lawmakers once they've served 12 years in their respective legislative chamber.
"A Member of Congress (including a Delegate or Resident Commissioner to the Congress) who has served 12 or more cumulative years in the House of Representatives or in the Senate, as the case may be, may not, on and after the date that the Member reaches 12 years of service in the Member’s respective House of Congress, be eligible for any covered benefit described in subsection (b)," the text states.
Under the proposal, such long-serving lawmakers would no longer be eligible for pay and would no longer be eligible to serve in House and Senate leadership posts or as the chair or ranking member of standing or select committees.

Led by Secretary Doug Burgum, the department determined the agreements were "operating in direct opposition" to its mission, according to a press release obtained exclusively by Fox News Digital.
"Under Secretary Burgum, the Department of the Interior is ending partnerships with groups that no longer represent the priorities of the American people," the department said. In response, DOI said it is terminating all agreements with the identified groups and removing references to them from its websites.
The terminated agreements supported internship programs, conservation initiatives, research projects and cooperative partnerships.

The U.S. Office of Special Counsel told President Trump the department "fully substantiated the allegations" by whistleblower Timothy Mattson, who now leads the department's Office for Civil Rights' regional office in Kansas City, recommending sanctions against current and former officials and compensation for Mattson for the risk he took coming forward.
"OSC has reviewed the disclosure, agency reports, and whistleblower comments," and "determined that the reports contain the information required by statute and that the findings appear reasonable," the agency's chief counsel, Charles Baldis, told Trump in a four-page letter.
The Feb. 19 "supplemental" report, compelled by the Trump administration's OSC after President Biden's OSC dismissed Mattson's allegations a month before the presidential transition, repeatedly names then-OCR Director Catherine Lhamon as the key figure directing Mattson and others to continue enforcing the gender-identity guidance.
"OCR’s leadership actively engaged in efforts to thwart at least one OCR regional office (Region VII) [Kansas City] from following the plain and unambiguous meaning of the order" by U.S. District Judge Charles Atchley, a Trump nominee, who blocked enforcement of the guidance in the states that sued the feds, the supplemental report says.
The U.S. Office of Special Counsel recommended severe sanctions for current and former Department of Education employees, "up to and including removal," for their roles in a newly confirmed scheme to violate a court injunction against the Biden administration's Title IX guidance, which interpreted "sex" to include "gender identity."
Chief Counsel Charles Baldis told President Trump in a letter made public Wednesday that the department didn't go far enough with its "corrective steps" in response to officials in the Biden administration, some of whom might have remained under President Trump, who threatened the federal funding of school districts that resisted the guidance's novel view of "sex" after a court blocked the guidance nearly four years ago.
He called for "more robust action [...] to ensure accountability and prevent recurrence," including "expeditiously" completing its investigation and punishing employees, "including senior officials," found to have "participated in, directed, assisted, or concealed efforts to defy the court’s injunction."

Sewell’s criticisms come as as Republican lawmakers probe ActBlue, a Democratic fundraising and campaign organization, and its CEO and president, Regina Wallace-Jones, for potentially accepting illegal donations.
[Breitbart] ActBlue CEO Regina Wallace-Jones repeatedly invoked her Fifth Amendment rights Wednesday during a congressional hearing on allegations the Democrat fundraising platform accepted foreign-linked donations.
Wallace-Jones declined to answer a series of questions from Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) regarding alleged foreign donations, fraud controls, and the departure of ActBlue’s legal team.
“On the advice of my counsel, I respectfully decline to answer this question pursuant to my Fifth Amendment rights under the Constitution.”
Jordan asked Wallace-Jones about reports that millions of contributions processed by ActBlue in 2024 showed signs of foreign origin.
“Your board chairman said 38 million contributions in 2024 had the signs of foreign origin,” Jordan said. “How much fraud is too much fraud?”
Wallace-Jones pleaded the Fifth Amendment and declined to answer. Jordan then asked how many foreign contributions ActBlue accepted and whether the platform received donations from Russia. Wallace-Jones again declined to respond.
The Ohio Republican also questioned Wallace-Jones about the departure of ActBlue’s in-house legal team and whether the fundraising platform had weakened its fraud-prevention standards.
“Why did your entire legal team quit?” Jordan asked.
Wallace-Jones invoked the Fifth Amendment. Jordan later asked whether ActBlue had weakened its fraud standards to benefit Democrat candidates, drawing the same response.
The hearing comes weeks after a congressional staff report accused ActBlue of accepting illegal foreign donations during the 2024 election cycle and covering up the activity. The report also claimed that every member of ActBlue’s legal and compliance team either resigned, was fired, or took extended leave. It cited subsequent media reports alleging that the departures were linked to concerns over the platform’s donation practices.
A separate congressional staff report released in 2025 alleged that two policy changes adopted by ActBlue in 2024 led to an increase in fraudulent contributions on the platform. Investigators further alleged that internal training materials instructed employees to search for reasons to approve donations rather than flag potentially suspicious transactions.
The House Administration Committee launched its probe of ActBlue in October 2023. In a letter to committee chairman Rep. Bryan Steil (R-WI) that year, then-CEO Regina Wallace-Jones assured Congress that “only donations with passport information are processed.”
ActBlue has helped raise more than $19 billion for Democratic candidates and causes since its founding in 2004.
