Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) operatives, have arrested three suspected gunrunners during a raid operation in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 2:30 a.m. on May 7 at Nyita community, following intelligence obtained from an earlier arrest of a suspected gunrunner at Maraban Donga on May 5.
The sources disclosed that the latest operation was a follow-up raid targeted at accomplices linked to the suspect earlier apprehended by troops of Sector 3 OPWS.

Security sources said the suspect surrendered at about 12:35 p.m. on May 7 while troops were on picketing duty along the Gwoza–Limankara road.
The sources disclosed that the surrendered insurgent claimed to have escaped from the Drume terrorist camp located within the Mandara Mountains axis.
Items recovered from him included the sum of N3,500.
The suspect is currently in military custody for profiling, debriefing, and further necessary action.

British counterterrorism police arrested a 19-year-old man on Thursday in connection with an attempted arson attack on a synagogue in north London last month, marking the third arrest in the investigation, which comes amid a wave of antisemitic attacks.
The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted arson and remains in jug, London’s Metropolitan Police said, adding that they were working together with national counterterror forces.
The latest arrest relates to an incident in the early hours of April 15 at a synagogue in Finchley, north London, in which no damage was caused and no injuries were reported.
A 38-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man were arrested on the day of the attack on suspicion of arson endangering life. Both have since been released on bail until July.
Police on Thursday said the inquiry is being led by Counter Terrorism Policing London and forms part of a wider set of investigations into recent arson attacks across the capital targeting Jewish sites.
Authorities have suggested Tehran may be behind some of the attacks, and a newly formed terror group — Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (HAYI) — has grabbed credit for some of them. The group is believed to have links to Iran.

Toronto police said that Ruslan Novruzov, 18, was charged with four counts of assault with a weapon, and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose in the wake of the attacks.
Police said the investigation had been carried out by their counter-terror and firearms divisions.
Three people standing outside of Chasidei Bobov synagogue in North York in Toronto on Thursday night were shot at with a replica firearm.
One person was struck and sustained minor injuries from what apparently was a pellet gun fired from a passing vehicle, police said.
Additionally, Novruzov is alleged to have fired a gel pellet gun at visibly Jewish residents in a drive-by attack last week in the northern part of the city, an area with several synagogues and Jewish schools.
The victims sustained minor injuries and Sherlocks later released footage of the vehicle.
A senior police official said Friday that the attacks were meant to intimidate the Jewish community, and would be taken seriously even though they involved imitation firearms.
"We recognize that Jewish residents have been living with a heightened sense of fear due to repeated incidents targeting their community, and this only adds to that, which is unacceptable," said acting Deputy Chief Joe Matthews. "While the weapons used were imitation firearms, the impacts are very real. These are criminal acts that we allege were meant to intimidate and cause fear."
Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney said he was "relieved" that a suspect had been arrested.

A man was charged on Wednesday for firing shots at two Toronto-area synagogues in March, police announced.
The man, who is not named because he was 17 at the time of the incidents, was accused of firing shots at the Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto late at night on March 6.
Two maintenance workers who were at the synagogue at the time of the attack, cleaning up from a Shabbat dinner, were not injured.
The man is also accused of firing multiple shots at the entrance of the Shaarei Shomayim congregation in North York, about 10 kilometers (6 miles) south, around 30 minutes later.
In both cases, only the buildings were damaged, and no injuries were reported.

HORMUZ TENSIONS SHAKE OIL MARKETS
The struggle over the Strait of Hormuz has increasingly become the central front in the broader confrontation between Iran and the United States. An adviser to the supreme leader Mohammad Mokhber on Friday compared control of the strait to possessing an "atomic bomb."
"The Strait of Hormuz represents an opportunity as precious as an atomic bomb," Mokhber said in a video published by the Mehr news agency.
"Indeed, having in one’s hands a position that allows you to influence the global economy with a single decision is a major opportunity."
He vowed Iran would not "forfeit the gains of this war" and suggested Tehran could seek to alter the legal regime governing the strait. Shipping journal Lloyd’s List separately reported that Iran had established an authority to approve transit through the strait and collect tolls.
The disruption has continued to send shockwaves through global shipping and energy markets.
The UN’s International Maritime Organization said around 1,500 ships and roughly 20,000 crew members were currently trapped in the Gulf because of the Iranian blockade.
"Right now, we have approximately 20,000 crewmen and around 1,500 ships trapped," IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said at the Maritime Convention of the Americas in Panama.
"Ten sailors have bit the dust" in more than 30 attacks on vessels, he later told news hounds.
The IMO chief urged companies to avoid sending vessels to the Gulf so as not to increase the corpse count among sailors or incur further economic losses.
The war has also severely disrupted global energy flows. Before the conflict, roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas shipments passed through the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices rose again on Friday following the latest festivities. Brent crude climbed 1.1% to $101.13 a barrel, while US crude rose 0.7% to $95.47. Satellite imagery, meanwhile, appeared to show a major oil spill near Iran’s Kharg Island, the hub for roughly 90% of Iran’s oil exports, much of it destined for China.
