[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The hero Texas police officers who shot and killed an Islamic terrorist outside an Austin bar are facing a grand jury led by the city's George Soros-backed district attorney (DA).
Travis County DA José Garza was slammed after it emerged that his office is assessing possible charges against the three cops who bravely killed gunman Ndiaga Diagne on Sunday.
Diagne's social media accounts showed the terrorist frequently abused Jewish people online, branded conservative women 'wh***s' and backed Iran to destroy Israel in a series of hate-filled posts.
Diagne, wearing a 'Property of Allah' shirt over an Islamic flag, killed three people and wounded 13 others before he was killed by police who arrived on the scene within minutes of the attack.
The city's mayor praised the officers for 'without a doubt saving lives' however they now face the prospect of a grand jury thanks to a policy shaped by the woke legal group The Wren Collective.
The group worked with Garza's office to establish a policy for all police involved in deadly shootings to face grand juries, including the heroic officers who stepped in on Sunday.
The collective, led by Austin-based attorney Jessica Brand, touts itself as a policy advisor 'reimagining the way our country approaches the criminal legal system.'
Texas attorney Doug O'Connell said on X that he has been asked by the Austin Police Association to represent the three police officers and that he would be 'with them every step of the way.'
Garza, who has faced scrutiny for his 'soft on crime' approach, introduced the Grand Jury requirement in 2021 following the George Floyd riots and has been criticized on social media since news broke he intends to apply it to the latest shooting.
So far, the officers who took down Diagne, who have not been publicly named, have not been formally charged.
O'Connell said Tuesday that the officers potentially facing charges was 'sad' as he vowed to back the officers.
He told the New York Post: 'The district attorney, at the direction of the Wren Collective, insists on presenting every officer-involved shooting to a grand jury. We believe that our clients will face this same process.'
The attorney criticized the process for a lack of transparency, stating that: 'Grand Juries in Texas are secret, meaning only the prosecutors are in the room. The prosecutors control what evidence the grand jury sees, and they have no obligation to present exculpatory evidence.'
Texas Governor Greg Abbott also slammed Garza and said on X that the officers 'are heroes who saved lives,' adding: 'Whatever the DA does, I will have the final say in the fate of these police officers.'
The Central Texas Public Safety Commission spoke out against the DA in their statement saying: 'The officers who rushed to save countless lives are heroes to the Austin community and beyond.'
The board's president Pam Madere noted that 'while it has long been a standing policy for officer-involved shootings to be referred to the Grand Jury, the District Attorney has complete discretion on whether or not to take that step.'
Yeah….
'The Central Texas Public Safety Commission strongly encourages DA Garza not to refer these officers to the Grand Jury,' Madere wrote.
Garza entered office as the Travis County DA in 2021 after his campaign was backed by liberal mega-donor George Soros.
The Wren Collective works with over 100 prosecutors across the country. On its website, the group says it advises officials on policies to reduce mass incarceration, address the 'root causes' of crime and promote alternatives to traditional prosecutions.
Officials said police were stationed in Austin's Entertainment District on Sunday night when Diagne opened fire.
Three people were shot dead by the gunman, named as amateur MMA fighter Jorge Pederson, 30, Savitha Shan, 21, and Ryder Harrington, 19.
Two of the wounded were listed in critical condition, officials said, as Pederson was taken off life support on Monday.
Shan was a management information systems and economics student at the University of Texas, who was only a few months away from graduating.
Harrington was mourned as 'a beloved son, brother, and friend' by the Beta Theta Pi chapter at Texas Tech, where he was a member of the Fall 2024 pledge class.
Diagne, 53, was believed to have been hellbent on revenge for the US attacks on Iran that began early Saturday morning. He was a former New York City resident and US citizen who immigrated from Senegal. A Quran was later found in his car. Diagne's social media accounts showed the terrorist frequently abused Jewish people online, branded conservative women 'wh***s' and backed Iran to destroy Israel in a series of hate-filled posts.

I agree with Ed, this mostly click bait and may even be a good idea. Does anyone really want a far left prosecutor being able to decide who to charge people with crimes? If anything the Grand Jury can act as check against prosecutors abusing their power.

You have to think about what they really mean with language like that. Some people might not think much about it. But to me it means imagine a country with no cops and no laws, just the kind of chaos to make it easy for the communists to take over. Then we can imagine goon squads taking orders from Soros.

[DM] One of President Donald Trump's chief congressional tormenters was forced into a runoff Tuesday night.
Representative Al Green, 79, was pitted against Representative Christian Menefee, 37, after Texas Republicans redistricted the state, targeting five House seats held by Democrats.
A race call was slow to come in, with the Associated Press announcing the runoff result at 11:19 a.m. Wednesday.
Green recently made waves again by bringing a sign that read 'Black people aren't apes,' to Trump's State of the Union address last week, referring to an unfortunate video post from the President that the White House blamed on a 'boomer' editor.
The stunt got him tossed from the speech from the Sergeant at Arms.
A year before Green was expelled for heckling from the House chamber during Trump's joint address before Congress, the stand-in for the State of the Union when a President's newly sworn-in.
The congressman was censured for his outbursts.
Green has filed articles of impeachment against Trump six times.
His impeachment effort against Trump started back in 2017 and he most recently tried again in December, pointing to how the President said on Truth Social that some Democratic lawmakers should be executed for pushing troops to not follow illegal orders.
It's a shocking result for Green, who generally faired well in his Houston-area district.
In 2024, he ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.
He first won election to the House in 2004.
Menefee is the most recent addition to the House Democratic caucus, winning a special election in late January to replace the late Republican Representative Sylvester Turner.
The new congressman previously served as county attorney for Harris County, Texas.
He was sworn-in on February 2.
Weeks later Menefee was back on the ballot in a race to represent the newly combined 18th Congressional District.
If Menefee ultimately beats Green that doesn't mean the district's voters have rejected an impeachment-happy lawmaker.
During his first four weeks in Congress, Menefee has already called for an impeachment - of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Democratic Texas state legislator James Talarico emerged victorious Tuesday over loudmouth left-wing Rep. Jasmine Crockett following a ferocious US Senate primary marred in its final hours by allegations of voter suppression from both candidates.
With 91% of the expected vote tallied, Talarico, 36, had 52.9% compared to 45.7% for Crockett, 44, avoiding a bruising runoff campaign that would have lasted close to another three months.
"We’re about to take back Texas," proclaimed Talarico, who will face the winner of the May 26 Republican runoff between incumbent Sen. John Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
"We are not just trying to win an election," Talarico told supporters in Austin before the race was called. "We are trying to fundamentally change our politics. And it’s working."
Texas voters have not elected a Democrat to the Senate since Lloyd Bentsen in 1988.
Crockett’s campaign said she planned to sue over voting issues in Dallas and she spoke only briefly on Tuesday night to warn that "people have been disenfranchised."
Republicans had openly hoped Crockett would win, viewing her as the less electable candidate in the Nov. 3 midterms, while Talarico is believed to have more crossover appeal to independents.
"We’re cheering for Jasmine Crockett," Fox News host Sean Hannity said on air Tuesday evening while reading a results update from the Lone Star State.
Crockett and Talarico had each argued that they would be the stronger general election candidate in a state that backed President Trump by almost 14 percentage points in 2024.
Results were reported later than expected after voting was extended by two hours in Dallas County — Crockett’s home base — and Williamson County, outside Austin, after voters reported being turned away and directed to different voting precincts because of new primary rules.
Paxton’s office challenged the judge’s decision keeping the polls open longer, and the state Supreme Court ruled that ballots cast by people not in line by 7 p.m. CT should be separated from others.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas), who has served in the House of Representatives since 2019, lost his primary race Tuesday in the Lone Star State’s 2nd Congressional District.
Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL in his fourth term, was defeated by businessman and state representative Steve Toth.
With about three-fourths of the ballots counted, Toth had 58% of the vote to Crenshaw’s 40%. The Associated Press called the race for Toth at 1 a.m. EST.
President Trump did not endorse a candidate in the contest. Crenshaw was the only House Republican in Texas running for re-election that did not receive Trump’s seal of approval.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) endorsed Toth last week.
"Steve is an unwavering fighter for school choice, fiscal responsibility, and the next generation of Americans," Cruz wrote in an X post announcing his endorsement. "Washington needs bold leadership and representatives who will stand up for Texans at every turn."
"Steve has the experience, the courage, and the conviction to do just that."
Crenshaw, who is known for wearing a patch on his right eye, which he lost in an IED blast while deployed to Afghanistan, fumed that his "enemies" were gunning for him earlier Tuesday.
"You know, my enemies have all come out with their knives — Tucker Carlson or Ted Cruz — for no good reason," Crenshaw, 41, told Fox News before polls closed.
Crenshaw had a significant financial advantage in the race.
The congressman outraised Toth, 65, by more than $1.3 million and also received more than $1 million in support from a pro-Crenshaw super PAC, according to the Texas Tribune.
The district is rated solid red, according to the Cook Political Report, meaning Toth is likely to have the edge in the general election contest, where he will face Democrat Shaun Finnie.
