[FoxNews] First wave of 200-person deployment arrives to help Nigerian forces combat Boko Haram and Islamic State militants
Around 100 U.S. troops and military equipment arrived in Nigeria Monday to help support local forces battling Islamic militants and other armed groups in the West African nation, the Nigerian military said.
The U.S. personnel touched down as part of a broader security cooperation effort between Washington and Abuja with 100 more arriving over time.
The arrival came at the request of the Nigerian government, which sought assistance with training, technical support and intelligence sharing as it confronts violence, the Associated Press reported.
About 200 U.S. Africa Command personnel are expected to deploy to Nigeria in total and in what officials have described as a support mission aimed at strengthening the capacity of Nigerian forces.
The effort is focused on combating Islamist extremist groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province, both of which have carried out attacks in northern Nigeria and the Lake Chad region.
The first batch of troops represents the initial group of what is expected to be a roughly 200-person deployment of others, including U.S. intelligence analysts, advisers and trainers.
The move follows recent visits by senior U.S. Africa Command officials to Abuja to reinforce military-to-military ties and expand counterterrorism cooperation.
On Feb. 8, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu met with a high-level U.S. delegation led by U.S. Africa Command commander Gen. Dagvin Anderson at the State House in Abuja, according to Nigeria’s presidency.
The meeting included senior officials from Nigeria’s military, security and intelligence agencies and focused on expanding intelligence sharing and operational coordination.
Monday's deployment came as tensions between Washington and Abuja have eased following earlier friction over religious violence and civilian protection.
President Donald Trump had previously accused Nigeria of failing to protect Christians from what he described as a genocide, citing attacks by extremist groups and armed bandits.
Trump ordered airstrikes on Dec. 25 targeting Islamic State militants and said they were responsible for killing Christians.
Africom conducted strikes in Sokoto State in northwest Nigeria targeting what it described as Islamic State terrorists and said they were coordinated with Nigerian authorities.

The British Museum in London has removed some references to "Paleostine" and people of "Paleostinian descent" in some of its displays and is reviewing more cases, deeming them historically inaccurate and no longer neutral, following complaints by a pro-Israel group.
UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) said in a statement Saturday that it had raised concerns about using the term in gallery panels and labels describing the ancient Levant and Egypt.
The group said it wrote to the museum’s director, Nicholas Cullinan, that "several maps and descriptions retroactively apply the term ’Paleostine’ to periods in which no such entity existed and risk obscuring the history of Israel and the Jewish people."
Applying a single name across thousands of years "erases historical changes and creates a false impression of continuity," it argued, asking for the terminology to be amended "so regions are referred to by historically accurate names such as Canaan, the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah, or Judea, depending on the period being described."
A variation of the name Paleostine, which the Romans gave to the Land of Israel in the 2nd century CE, was first documented in Greek literature in the 5th century CE. It is believed to be named after the Philistines, an ancient non-Semitic people mentioned in the Bible.
UKLFI said in its statement that a spokesperson for the British Museum replied that it was "in the processes of reviewing and updating panels and labels on a case-by-case basis. For example, the information panels in the Levant gallery, covering the period 2000-300 BC, have all been updated to describe in some detail the history of Canaan and the Canaanites and the rise of the kingdoms of Judah and Israel using those names. A revised text devoted to the Phoenicians was installed in early 2025."
One of the examples given was a panel in the Egypt galleries having been changed from "Paleostinian descent" to "Canaanite descent."
"The Museum’s spokesperson explained that the larger graphic panels and maps require significantly more coordination and resources and cannot be updated and replaced at once, given their importance for visitor navigation of the gallery," UKLFI added. "This work is being scheduled with designers and interpreters but, because of the scale and cost, will be implemented in phases over the coming years as part of the Museum’s long-term Masterplan redevelopment."
The museum itself confirmed making the alterations, telling media outlets that "for the Middle East galleries for maps showing ancient cultural regions, the term ’Canaan’ is relevant for the southern Levant in the later second millennium BCE. The finding of its audience testing, that the term ’Paleostine’ is in some circumstances no longer meaningful, is relevant to and should be taken on board by other museums and cultural institutions."

"Dare To Struggle," which has urged kids to skip school and confront agents in cities across the US, organized a gathering that will take place at South Park Recreation Center in Los Angeles on Friday, one week after two youngsters attacked an agent during an unruly protest downtown.
The organization’s "SoCal" offshoot is not shy in promoting chaos, encouraging the LA’s youth and others to "join the spring surge to melt ICE," in an Instagram post announcing their newest event.
A second similar "mass meeting" advertised by Dare To Struggle SoCal will be held Friday in a greenspace in nearby Huntington Park, according to another social media post.
The Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Post, on Sunday, exclusively reported on Dare To Struggle SoCal’s agenda, which include ambitions to terrorize ICE and end mass deportations via radical means.
Leaders of the organization with branches across the US had flooded social media with pamphlets urging followers to join their cause.
The pamphlets include calls to "melt ICE" and "smash the mass deportation machine."
Dare To Struggle SoCal helped promote Friday’s protests, in which hundreds of high schoolers swarmed the Los Angeles Metropolitan Detention Center during a "national school walk out."
The demonstration turned violent mostly peaceful as an ICE worker was bashed in the face with a rock, suffering a concussion, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Another federal agent was cut over his eye during the kerfuffle, DHS said.
Two young suspects are wanted in Friday’s attack. On Saturday, Central District US Attorney Bill Essayli released pictures of the alleged assailants and pledged to "criminally prosecute" the pair.
"These assaults will do nothing to stop our immigration enforcement operations. The only thing they will accomplish is ensuring violent mostly peaceful agitators will be criminally prosecuted, juveniles included," Essayli wrote in a statement.
It’s unclear if the suspects had been arrested by late Sunday. Neither Essayli nor DHS immediately responded to a request for comment from The Post.
It was also not known if the youngsters were associated with the Dare To Struggle group.

Anti-Zionist groups in Canada last week launched a campaign against Jewish children’s summer camps, marking a new front in activists’ global effort to dismantle the Jewish state and demonize its supporters.
A coalition of Canadian leftist and pro-Paleostinian organizations announced the campaign seeking to strip accreditation from Jewish children’s summer camps due to their support for "a genocidal state."
The campaign targeted at least 17 camps across Canada, in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia.
"They pose a problem because they encourage support for a genocidal, settler-colonial state," the campaign said of the camps.
The campaign cited the camps for alleged offenses, such as celebrating Israel’s Independence Day and Memorial Day, staffers visiting Israel, and employment of IDF veterans.
A camp in Quebec, for example, employed a woman as a counselor who had served as a social worker in the IDF. Another camp’s director was decried as a "Zionist who publicly supports Israel." A camp in Ontario was attacked for cultural "appropriation" for using za’atar, a Middle Eastern spice.
The groups supporting the effort included the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign targeting Israel, the Paleostinian Canadian Congress, the anti-Israel group Just Peace Advocates, the Ontario Paleostinian Rights Association, and PAJU Montreal.
Children’s camps in Canada must meet a set of standards to gain accreditation from provincial camp associations. The accreditation is a stamp of approval that means the camps meet standards for safety, health, staffing, and programming.
The campaign against the Jewish camps instructed supporters to contact provincial camp accreditors to demand that the Jewish camps lose their accreditation.
Organizers said more than 800 letters had been sent to camp associations.

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp. — whose board members serve at the pleasure of the mayor and manage the 300-acre industrial park — opted not to renew its lease with Easy Aerial, Councilman Lincoln Restler (D-Brooklyn) gloated on X Thursday.

When asked if Israel-Paleostine politics played a role in its decision, BNYDC spokesperson Claire Holmes said the non-renewal was "for business reasons related to operational and campus compliance matters. Like any landlord, we evaluate renewals based on adherence to lease terms and campus policies."

The Post reached Akkad by phone, who confirmed he works for the Health Department and ran the X account in question. But he declined further comment.
He once referred to himself on social media as the “US Ambassador to Harlem.”
The health worker’s X account has since been suspended. The Post hasn’t been able to independently verify the offensive posts as a result.
The Health Department and Mamdani declined to comment.
The mayor had nothing to do with Akkad’s employment.
Akkad was first hired by the city in 2015 by the Human Resources Administration/Department of Social Services as a community associate, when Bill de Blasio was mayor.
He now makes $65,000 a year in his job at the Health Department.
“They silenced me for demanding answers about rising hate against the Jewish community,” he said.
“Every New Yorker should understand exactly how dangerous that is.”

[IsraelTimes] Speaking to reserve brigade commanders yesterday, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said Israel is still in a “multi-front campaign, and 2026 will continue to be a year in which we operate at a high operational-offensive tempo, to further weaken the threats and defeat our enemies along the lines of contact.”
“I know how much responsibility rests on your shoulders. The war showed all of us just how much the reserve brigades, and within them the reserve battalion and brigade commanders, are a significant part of the operational core of the IDF. It is our responsibility to take care of the servicemembers, address burnout, strengthen the professional foundations, and return to training alongside the continued intensified operational activity,” Zamir said, according to remarks provided by the military.
“We are attentive to your needs and to the voices coming from the field, and are working to provide you with the flexibility required for this,” he continues.
Zamir also told the officers that he “instructed the closure of all ad hoc forces that were established during the war.”
“I salute and appreciate everyone who stepped up and assisted at its outset and throughout, but we must operate in a systematic and professional manner. Units and forces for which there is an operational need will be formally regulated and properly integrated,” he added.

Hamas ..a regional Iranian catspaw,... used a sequence of emojis sent to its operatives’ phones as a coded signal to prepare to launch the October 7, 2023, terror onslaught, it was revealed on Monday.
The revelation was first reported by Channel 12 news and approved for publication by the Military Censor, more than two years after the attack.
It is believed that the sequence of emojis was used to instruct members of Hamas’s elite Nukhba Force to equip their phones with Israeli SIM cards to be used in Israeli territory, to gather at various staging grounds — including in homes, mosques, and tunnels — and to prepare their weapons for the attack.
At 9 p.m. on October 6, 2023, the Shin Bet security agency identified a handful of Israeli SIM cards in the hands of Hamas Nukhba gunnies being activated.
The SIM cards were being monitored by the Shin Bet, and the agency updated IDF intelligence officials on the development. Later that night, more SIM cards were activated, totaling several dozen.
On phones seized from Hamas gunnies who invaded Israel on October 7, the IDF identified that the same string of emojis was sent on two previous instances in which Hamas intended to launch its large-scale attack, in May 2023 and September 2022.
In May 2023, the Shin Bet also identified dozens of Israeli SIM cards in the hands of Hamas gunnies being activated, though ultimately the terror group did not launch the attack then.
The use of the emojis by Hamas to notify its gunnies to prepare to launch the onslaught was only discovered retrospectively as part of the IDF’s investigations into October 7 and was not identified in real time.
The IDF’s investigations into the failures of October 7 found that the military’s conduct, decision-making, and the intelligence it possessed on the night between October 6 and 7 were based on the results of years of false assessments about Hamas.
As a result, intelligence officials on all levels failed to provide a warning for what would come. Hamas’s October 7 attack claimed the lives of more than 1,200 people in Israel, mostly civilians, with another 251 people kidnapped and much of the area devastated. It launched the war in Gazoo

[IsraelTimes] Israel has modified its F-35I fighter jets to have extended range capabilities through additional fuel tanks, “without compromising stealth,” Yechiel Leiter, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, claims in an interview with the Israel Hayom daily.
“We developed fuel tanks that extend the aircraft’s range without compromising stealth, and we added four missiles on the wings,” Leiter says.
It has been reported for several years that the Israeli Air Force has been developing range-extending fuel tanks for the F-35s, enabling strikes in distant locations such as Iran without the need for aerial refueling.
While extra fuel tanks can increase the range of the aircraft, they would likely negate its stealth qualities as they would significantly increase the jet’s radar signature, unless jettisoned before approaching enemy airspace.
Leiter’s mention of placing missiles on the wings of the F-35 is also not a new development, but rather known as “beast mode” configuration, whereby the stealth qualities of the fighter jet are forgone for extra firepower.
A year ago, the Israeli Air Force said that it had developed — alongside the F-35 manufacturer Lockheed Martin and the Pentagon’s F-35 program — a capability to carry missiles on the fighter jets’ wings, saying that its aircraft are the “only F-35 to conduct strikes with this design.” Images published by the IAF during the June 2025 war with Iran showed missiles attached to the wings of Israeli F-35I jets.
“The number of flight hours our pilots have on the F-35 is greater than that of all the pilots of the other foreign countries that were partners in developing the aircraft,” Leiter says in the interview. “The feedback from our pilots reaches Lockheed Martin. When I visited there a few weeks ago, their CEO told me that Israel’s information and developments ‘are worth many billions to my company.'”

I doubt the IAF really needs stealth for a strike on Iran. Most/All weapons are stand off weapons. The Iranian air force is a joke and it's likely we and the Israeli's damaged most of the important ground based air defenses.

There have been standard external non-stealth tanks for the F-35 since it was built. The stealth ones are now just coming online so not surprising if Israel uses them now too.

The families, totaling 24 individuals, had left the Roj camp in Rojava but are now heading back, despite having been issued Australian passports, sources inside the camp confirmed to Rudaw.
It remains unclear why the Syrian authorities in Damascus turned the families away. The Australian government, meanwhile, reiterated its position, stating it "is not and will not repatriate people from Syria."
"Our security agencies have been monitoring - and continue to monitor - the situation in Syria to ensure they are prepared for any Australians seeking to return to Australia," the government statement said.
The statement added: "People in this cohort need to know that if they have committed a crime and if they return to Australia, they will be met with the full force of the law. The safety of Australians and the protection of Australia's national interests remain the overriding priority."
The Syrian transitional government has not issued a comment on the matter.
For the first time in 2022, four Australian women and 13 children were released from the Roj camp and returned home. As of last year, more than 30 Australians remained in the camp seeking to return home.
More than 2,000 women and kiddies affiliated with ISIS continue to reside at the Roj camp, which is run by Kurdish authorities, amid growing uncertainty over their future and prospects for repatriation.
Located in Hasaka province, Roj camp is the last detention facility under the control of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Nearby al-Hol camp came under Syrian state control last month after the SDF, facing pressure from Damascus, withdrew from parts of the province.
Many residents of Roj camp say they wish to return to their home countries, but Kurdish officials say no formal arrangements have been made.
The fate of ISIS-affiliated families in northeastern Syria has remained unresolved for years, as many countries have been reluctant to repatriate their nationals due to legal, security, and political concerns.

[IsraelTimes] Lebanon’s government says its army will have a four-month extendable period to implement phase two of the military’s plan to disarm Hezbollah in south Lebanon.
Lebanon’s government has committed to disarming Hezbollah, which was badly weakened in a recent war with Israel, and the military said last month that it had completed the first phase of its plan, covering the area between the Litani River and the Israeli border, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) further south.
Phase two covers an area north of the river.
Information Minister Paul Morcos tells a press conference after a cabinet session that the government “took note of the army leadership’s presentation” on the second stage of the plan and that “there is a timeframe of four months, extendable depending on available capabilities, Israeli attacks, and hindrances on the ground.”
Israel has cast doubts on Lebanon’s claim that it has fully disarmed Hezbollah south of the Litani, and has continued to carry out strikes on Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure in the area.
[NYPost] Syria is becoming friendlier to the United States and Israel under its new regime, according to a new survey revealing an uptick in favorable views among Syrians towards the two countries.
Two-thirds of Syrians — 65% — view US engagement in the country positively, compared to 12% who disapprove, while the rest are undecided or neutral, according to the YouGov poll commissioned by the Council for a Secure America.
In another stunner, 59% of respondents said peace with Israel is likely in the future, compared to 14% who said it’s unlikely and the remainder undecided or neutral.

Another eye-popping statistic: 70% of Syrians described Iran-backed terror group Hezbollah as having a negative impact on the country.

The Trump administration has strongly supported Syria’s new president, Sharaa, despite being a former member of al-Qaeda.
His government has worked to secure control over Syria after its successful overthrow of predecessor Bashir al-Assad in December 2024.
But US forces are still actively trying to rid the region of ISIS.

Moreover, 52% of Syrians said the terror group is hurting Lebanon’s security, another indication of Iran’s declining influence in the region, the Council for a Secure America said.
Only 11% of respondents had a positive view of Hezbollah, and more than one-third had no opinion.
But unlike Syrians, more Lebanese view the US negatively rather than positively — 39% vs. 27%. About one-third have no opinion, the survey revealed.
Asked how likely or unlikely it is that there will be peace between Israel and Lebanon in the future, 40% of respondents said likely, compared to 24% who said unlikely, and the remainder neutral.
Only about one-quarter of Lebanese respondents supported normalization of the relationship with Israel after the Paleostinian-Israel conflict is settled, far lower support than in Syria.
The poll of 252 Lebanese adults last month also has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points, chosen from 80,000 active panel members.
"Council for a Secure America polls demonstrate that Syrian and Lebanese public opinion continues to gravitate away from Hezbollah. While Israeli normalization is not yet on the horizon, we are seeing significant shifts in Syria, with a majority believing that eventual peace with Israel is possible," said Jennifer Suton, executive director of Council for a Secure America.
"These trends provide an opportunity for the U.S. to reinforce traditional geopolitical partners, weaken proxy forces, promote peace and stability, and discourage external entities from destabilizing the region. We remain cautiously hopeful, but ever-clear-eyed, as historic developments in the Middle East unfold," she added.
The Council for Secure America is a pro-energy group that supports strong US-Israel ties and the Abraham Accords. It also supports American energy independence.
A former US foreign policy official and Lebanese-American said the poll’s findings regarding Lebanon were promising.
"One figure that stood out to me in particular is that 40% of Lebanese polled believe normalization with Israel is possible (with 27% who don’t). The reason that 40% figure is so impressive is because one year ago, that number would have been close to 0," said Hagar Chemali, a former communications director for the US Mission to the United Nations ...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society... , and ex-director for Syria and Lebanon at the National Security Council
"This figure reflects how quickly the taboo that once existed in Lebanon around normalization or peace with Israel disappeared, and the extent to which people now feel comfortable speaking out in favor of it."
She also cited the "outstanding figure" of 65% of Lebanese polled who are in favor of Hezbollah’s disarmament.
"These figures are remarkable because they represent a rapid shift in Lebanon’s internal dynamics and the increasing number of Lebanese who feel strongly about reclaiming Lebanon’s illusory sovereignty away from Iranian influence," Chemali said.
