[Breitbart] A San Jose assistant principal — a 2024 finalist for California Teacher of the Year — has been arrested after allegedly attempting to pay an undercover officer, whom he thought was a 13-year-old boy, for sex.
Ruben Guzman, 31, a math teacher and assistant principal at the Sunrise Middle School for the past six years, was arrested as part of a large-scale, online chat operation by the San Jose police during Super Bowl week.
Ironically, Guzman not only was a finalist for teacher of the year, but he was also recognized by the San Francisco 49ers football team for his work in education, the Daily Mail reported.
Details of the February 3 arrest were released this week by authorities, who said it was San Jose Police Department’s (SJPD) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit and the FBI that identified Guzman as a “potential suspect.”
According to a statement by the SJPD:
On the evening of February 3, 2026, Suspect Guzman started to communicate with who he believed was a 13-year-old juvenile male. The suspect acknowledged the child was underage and told the minor that he wanted to engage in sexual acts, further enticing the minor by offering money in exchange. Suspect Guzman arranged to pick up the child in the city of San José but when he arrived, he was apprehended by Officers with the SJPD Covert Response Unit who immediately took him into custody.
A search of his person and vehicle revealed items consistent with the planned encounter. During the subsequent investigation, Investigators learned that the suspect was actively employed as an Assistant Principal at Sunrise Middle School located in the city of San José. The school administration was notified and is fully cooperating with the investigation.
Staff at the school were in shock over the arrest.
“While this is deeply upsetting, it does not reflect who we are as a school,” Sunrise Principal Teresa Robinson told ABC7. “He was a highly regarded teacher and administrator. Again, there was nothing in his work record or his prior work record, said other schools to indicate anything had any problems with his work.”
The undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old falls within the same age range as Guzman’s students. Middle school pupils are typically between the ages of 11 and 14.
The principal said it does not appear “to the best of our knowledge” that any child was seduced at the school.
However, the SJPD stated, “Because the suspect was employed in a position of trust working with children at the time of arrest, (Internet Crimes Against Children) Detectives believe there may be additional victims.”
The department urged anyone so affected or having knowledge of such to contact detectives.
Guzman was booked at the Santa Clara County Main Jail and charged with communicating with a minor for sex, but may have since been released from custody, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Between February 3-6, ten other men were arrested in the online sting operation, Daily Mail reported, with suspects ranging in age from 24 to 72.

Law enforcement said the incident happened February 3 when officers located the stolen vehicle and tried to deploy StarChase equipment, the Aurora Police Department said in the caption of the video.
“StarChase is equipment attached to the front of police vehicles and when activated and deployed, shoot a sticky GPS ‘dart’ onto the back of whatever vehicle we are aiming at,” the agency said.
However, the dart missed its mark and officers flipped on their lights and sirens. But instead of pulling over, a passenger leaned out of the car with a gun, pointing it at the officers.
The suspect did not fire upon police, and officers continued pursuing the car.
“After hitting a median, Dukes-of-Hazard style, the stolen vehicle crashed at Boiling Drive and North Hannibal Street. And yet, the suspects didn’t stop there. They decided to run. So, we kept going. Because we don’t stop either,” the department explained.
Video footage shows the white car zoom in front of a police vehicle, and one officer is heard saying, “They’re gonna crash” when the car briefly flies into the air after hitting the curb.
Police eventually located the three suspects. The department identified them as “18-year-old Angelo Munguia, 18-year-old Watti Heng and one 17-year-old juvenile male, all hiding in backyards,” noting the car was indeed stolen.

DC Water describes the planning underway to upgrade the now-failed sewer - Built over 60 years ago, this 54-mile sewer pipeline is aging, and the section that crosses under the river is nearly 3,000 feet long and 78 inches wide. If it fails, the consequences for public health and the environment would be enormous. Planning is now underway to rehabilitate this section before its condition deteriorates further.

There is an intake about 5 miles upstream of the spill site so that will provide water until the spill is cleared (maybe a year from now). Plenty of intake for winter but summer may present a problem.

Growing up in the DC area 1947-1962, my family always enjoyed three Potomac River events, the Tidal Basin walks amidst the Cherry Blossom Festival, picnicking in East Potomac Park to watch the hydroplane races in the President's Cup Regatta, and sitting on the steps alongside Memorial Bridge to hear the Marine Corps Band play on a moored barge with a concert shell as we watched to fireworks on July 4th over the river. Nothing like raw sewage was ever a concern.

[Just The News] Georgia state Sen. Greg Dolezal, a leading voice on election integrity and a Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, is urging the state government to temporarily take over vote counting in Fulton County in the aftermath of an FBI raid that seized 2020 election ballots.
"We passed a law in 2021 that set the triggers in place for the state election board to take over the elections for a temporary period of time if a county proves they're incapable of following Georgia law. And if there's ever a county that's proven it, it's Fulton County," Dolezal told the Just the News, No Noise television show on Friday.
"Today, Fulton County has hundreds of people still on their voter rolls that show they were born in the year 1900, and they have thousands of people registered to vote at illegal voting locations: parking lots, homeless shelters that have been closed for a decade, UPS stores, and storage units.
"It is time for the state to step in before the 2026 general election to ensure that we can have a free and fair election so important," he said, adding it likely would only take two years of intervention to fix the problems.
Fulton County is home to the city of Atlanta, and the largest voting metropolis in the state of Georgia.
Dolezal is the first major figure in the state to call for the takeover in 2026. But he says his other colleagues in the legislature are also warming to the idea.
