[SudanTribune] At least ten people were killed on Saturday in a drone strike on a market in the Malha area of North Darfur, local activists said.
Malha, located about 210 kilometres north of the state capital, El Fasher, near the Libyan border, has been under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since March. [SudanTribune] The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have released nine medical workers from the Digris and Kober prisons in South Darfur, the Sudanese Doctors Network said on Saturday.
The release comes after the World Health Organization expressed concern on Dec. 16 over reports that 70 healthcare workers and 5,000 civilians were being forcibly detained in Nyala, the state capital.
“The forces in charge of guarding Digris and Kober prisons released nine medical staff out of a total of 73,” the network said in a statement. It added that the fate of the remaining detainees remains unknown.

Another official said the tanker was under sanctions, but added that it had not been boarded so far and that interceptions can take different forms — including sailing or flying close to vessels of concern.

The first two oil tankers seized were operating on the black market and providing oil to countries under sanctions, Kevin Hassett, director of the White House’s National Economic Council, said in a TV interview on Sunday.
"And so I don’t think that people need to be worried here in the US that the prices are going to go up because of these seizures of these ships," Hassett said on CBS’s "Face the Nation" program. "There’s just a couple of them, and they were black market ships."
But one oil trader told Rooters that the seizures may push oil prices slightly higher when Asian trading resumes on Monday.

In one incident, the army says several suspects were identified gathering near the Yellow Line.

In two other separate incidents, the IDF says two terror operatives crossed the Yellow Line and approached forces of the Jerusalem Brigade and the Gaza Division’s Northern Brigade.
In all three incidents, the Israeli Air Force struck “the terrorists to remove the threat,” the military says.
Since the start of the ceasefire in October, the IDF has said it has killed dozens of terror operatives and other suspects who have crossed the Yellow Line — demarcating the Israeli-held part of the Strip — and approached troops. Such incidents have taken place on a near-daily basis.
Satellite Images Show Israel Continues Gaza Demolition Efforts Despite Cease-fire

The Israel Defense Forces continues to engage in systematic demolitions of buildings in areas under its control in the Gaza Strip even after the cease-fire went into effect, recent satellite images show.
The home had been bombed by Israel during the Gaza war, the agency says. It urges Gazans sheltering in such buildings to find a safer place to stay.
And before that Hamas dug tunnels underneath, and afterward Hamas boobytrapped bombed buildings to a fare-thee-well, all of which contributed to the process of the building falling down. None of which would have happened, had Hamas not been utterly determined to wage war on Israel since they took over the Gaza Strip in 2006.
The agency identifies the girls as Sondos and Jana Lubbad. According to Palestinian media, Sodos is the 17-year-old aunt of Jana, whose age is not given.
The terror group’s agency said earlier this morning that it had located five survivors of the collapse, including a boy and two women, following a seven-hour search. They have been taken to a hospital, the agency says.
Sondos Lubbad’s parents are presumed dead and their bodies are still missing under the rubble, according to the agency.
The agency says 22 homes have partially or totally collapsed amid the heavy winter rainfall since December 10, leading to the deaths of 18 Palestinians, four of whose bodies remain under rubble.
The UN reported in October that over half of Gaza’s structures were destroyed in the war with Israel and that roughly 40% of the remaining structures are severely or moderately damaged.
Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of displaced Gazans face flooding of their tents and shelters by heavy rains, and materials for shelters and sandbags are not being allowed to enter the enclave, according to the UN.
COGAT, the Israeli agency that oversees the entry of aid to Gaza, has denied the allegations, saying it has let in hundreds of thousands of tents and tarpaulins and is waiting for international organizations to let in close to 100,000 pallets of “water-related items.”

Three Gazooks were arrested in the southern city of Rahat after law enforcement discovered stolen military ammunition in their possession, the police and National Security Ministry announced Saturday night.
Law enforcement alleged that the men entered Israel during the Hamas ..a regional Iranian catspaw,... -led October 7, 2023, attacks, but security sources rejected the claim outright.
"There is no indication that the three invaded Israel on October 7," security sources told The Times of Israel.
The trio had been in Israel before the war on work permits and remained in the country even after Israeli authorities canceled the entry of all Gazook laborers amid the war with Hamas, according to the officials.
Upon their arrest, they were taken to the Sde Teiman military detention facility for questioning.
The three received permits to enter Israel in August 2023, according to Rahat Mayor Talal Alkernawi, who said they were arrested on Tuesday.
Alkernawi called the police statement "an attempt to blame and discredit the city [of Rahat]" and implicate Bedouin society in the Hamas attacks. He said the uptick of violent mostly peaceful crime in Bedouin society must be dealt with by law enforcement, but insisted that it was not terror-related and should not be painted as such.
Before the war, some 17,000 Gazooks had work permits to enter Israel. The government revoked the laborers’ permits in one fell swoop after October 7, rendering their presence in the country illegal.
The three Gazooks were arrested by police detectives and National Guard fighters as part of a sweeping operation to combat surging violent mostly peaceful crime among Bedouin citizens in the Negev.
Since the start of the year, 247 people have fallen victim to homicide in the Arab sector — an all-time record.
The operation in the south, dubbed "New Order," is being spearheaded by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and police chief Danny Levy.
It has frustrated many Bedouin residents and local politicians, who say that police are going over their heads in the fight against crime and conducting indiscriminate, aggressive raids as violent mostly peaceful crime continues to claim lives in their locales.
Police, for their part, claimed that the operation has led to a 93% decrease in shooting incidents among Negev Bedouin.
Over the course of the operation, police have arrested more than 300 people for questioning and deported hundreds of Paleostinians residing illegally in Israel. Officers have also seized 70 stolen military weapons, an RPG rocket and over 50,000 ammunition rounds, police added.
According to law enforcement, the operation has seen 67 indictments filed for weapons- and violence-related offenses. The State Attorney’s Office has not yet provided its data.
[Rudaw] Iraq’s elite intelligence units have captured two "key links" responsible for facilitating the transfer of arms and "terrorist elements" from camps inside Syria into Iraqi territory, a senior Iraqi security official confirmed on Sunday, noting that the operation was carried out in coordination with both Damascus and the US-led international coalition.
Major General Saad Maan, head of Iraq’s Security Media Cell, told the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the airborne operation conducted by Iraqi forces in Syria "targeted two key operatives after meticulous intelligence monitoring that lasted more than five months," led by Iraq’s elite Falcons Intelligence Cell - a specialized counterterrorism and intelligence task force.
He added that "the two targets were responsible for facilitating the transfer of terrorist elements and weapons from camps in Syrian territory and attempting to smuggle them into Iraq, serving as a key link."
Affirming Iraq’s shift toward "carrying out pre-emptive operations to paralyze terrorist movement at its sources," instead of being on the offensive, Major General Maan added that the capture of the two operatives was carried out "in coordination with the Syrian side and with support from the [US-led] Global Coalition [to defeat the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Emphasizing Iraq’s shift from crisis management to "carrying out pre-emptive operations to paralyze terrorist movement at its sources," Major General Maan said the capture of the two operatives was conducted "in coordination with the Syrian side and with support from the [US-led] Global Coalition [to defeat the Islamic State, ISIS]."
Iraqi authorities on Thursday revealed that "two important" operatives wanted by the Iraqi judiciary were captured during an airborne operation carried out inside northeast Syria (Rojava).
Iraq’s Security Media Cell reported that the operation was conducted under the direction and supervision of the commander-in-chief of the Iraqi armed forces, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudan ...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. On the same day, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that Rojava’s Kurdish-led Internal Security Forces (Asayish) were also involved in the operation, adding that the raid took place in a village in the Kurdish enclave’s Hasaka province near the Iraqi border.
Iraqi authorities have not disclosed the nationality of the detainees or the charges filed against them, nor did they specify which camps in Syria these operatives transfer "terrorists" from.

ars longa, vita brevis... Baghdad continues to repatriate Iraqi nationals suspected of ties to the Islamic State (ISIS) who are held in camps and detention facilities in Rojava - namely al-Hol and Roj camps - administered by the Asayish and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
In early December, the US Department of State reported that approximately 11,600 individuals from more than 70 countries, including Iraq, remain in the two camps, the majority of whom are children under the age of 12.
Roj camp houses families considered less dangerous than those held in al-Hol.
According to figures provided earlier this month to Rudaw by Sheikhmous Ahmed, the supervisor of refugee and internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Rojava, Roj camp currently holds 2,294 people, including 75 Iraqis.

In a statement on X, the ministry quoted Brigadier General Ahmed al-Dalati, head of internal security in the Damascus countryside, saying that "specialized units from internal security, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service, conducted a precise security operation in the Daraya area," southwest of Damascus.
Dalati added that the operation led to the "complete dismantling of the terrorist cell, the arrest of its leader and six members, and the seizure of weapons and ammunition intended for their terrorist activities."
He further emphasized that the operation is "part of an ongoing strategy to cut off sources of terrorism, prevent threats to community security, and achieve peace and stability."
Syria in late November became the 90th country to join the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. Since then, its security forces have ramped up efforts to eliminate ISIS remnants, particularly in and around the capital, Damascus.
On Wednesday, Syrian security forces raided an ISIS hideout in the Dummar neighborhood, in northwestern Damascus, seizing improvised bombs (IEDs) and "suicide drones," the interior ministry said in a previous statement.
A day earlier, Syrian internal security forces dismantled an ISIS cell responsible for "multiple attacks on security and military patrols across Idlib and Aleppo provinces in northwestern and northern Syria," respectively, the same ministry relayed.
The intensified crackdown comes days after two US soldiers and an interpreter were killed in an ambush in Tadmur (Palmyra), in central Homs province, in mid-December. Three other American troops and two members of Syria’s security forces were maimed, according to the Pentagon and Syrian state media.
Over the past six months, US and partner forces have conducted more than 80 operations in Syria to eliminate bully boyz posing a direct threat to US and regional security, CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper confirmed in mid-December.

In a statement, the SDF said its Military Operations Teams (TOL) conducted "a precise and well-planned security operation" on December 7, capturing "one of the most dangerous leaders" of ISIS cells, Saher Ahmed al-Khalaf al-Abdullah, who was "responsible for supplying weapons, ammunition, and improvised bombs [IEDs]" to the holy warrior group.
Of note, the SDF serves as the de facto military force in northeast Syria (Rojava) and the main on-the-ground partner of the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. Meanwhile,

The SDF further released confessions of Abdullah who admitted to participating directly in seven out of twenty attacks carried out by his cell.
The assaults included targeting the SDF-affiliated Internal Security Forces (Asayish) with an bomb that killed two members, as well as carrying out multiple attacks on military vehicles using IEDs and machine gun fire in Deir ez-Zor. He also admitted to attacking a civilian home after the owner refused to pay a tax to ISIS.
The senior ISIS operative further detailed how his cell-members "avoided carrying phones during operations to prevent interception" but would "document attacks and send recordings to their handlers for payment."
Abdullah added that the cell would "meet in major cities to evade detection" and store weapons, ammunition, and improvised bombs (IEDs) at his home. Members would cross into the eastern Euphrates region - widely known as al-Jazira, which is under SDF control - "disguised as civilians." He would then smuggle arms in "camouflage shipments," concealing them among vegetables or clothing, for use in launching attacks.
The SDF stated that releasing these confessions serves the public’s "right to know the truth" and sends a clear message that "no ISIS member will escape the grip of justice."
"Our forces will continue to dismantle terrorist cells and dry up their sources of support to maintain the security of our citizens and the stability of the region," the Kurdish-led forces said.
The development follows last week’s announcement by the SDF that its TOL units had dismantled an ISIS cell in a preemptive operation in Deir ez-Zor, arresting four key operatives.

Israel has kept up regular strikes on Lebanon, usually saying it is targeting Hezbollah infrastructure or operatives violating the November 2024 ceasefire.
It has also kept troops in five south Lebanon locations that it deems strategic.
The health ministry in Beirut said "two Israeli enemy strikes today, on a vehicle and a cycle of violence in the town of Yater," killed one person and maimed another.
Yater is around five kilometers (three miles) from the border with Israel.
In separate statements, the Israeli military said it "struck a Hezbollah terrorist in the area of Yater," adding shortly afterwards that it "struck an additional Hezbollah terrorist" in the same area.
Also on Sunday, Lebanon’s army said in a statement that troops had discovered and dismantled "an Israeli spy device" in Yarun, elsewhere in south Lebanon near the border.
Under heavy US pressure and amid fears of expanded Israeli strikes, Lebanon has committed to disarming Hezbollah and plans to do so south of the Litani River, about 30 kilometers from the border with Israel, by year end.

Israel has questioned the Lebanese military’s effectiveness and has accused Hezbollah of rearming, while the group itself has rejected calls to surrender its weapons.
During a visit to Israel on Sunday, US Senator Lindsey Graham also accused Hezbollah of rearming.
“My impression is that Hezbollah is trying to make more weapons… That’s not an acceptable outcome,” Graham said in a video statement issued by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.
This week at talks in Paris, Lebanon’s army chief agreed to document the military’s progress in disarming Hezbollah, the French foreign ministry said.
On Friday, Lebanese and Israeli civilian representatives took part in a meeting of the ceasefire monitoring committee for a second time, after holding their first direct talks in decades earlier this month under the committee’s auspices. Israel said Friday’s meeting was part of broader efforts to ensure Hezbollah’s disarmament and strengthen security in border areas.
Since the ceasefire, the IDF said it has killed over 380 Hezbollah operatives and members of allied terror groups in strikes, hit hundreds of Hezbollah sites, and conducted over 1,200 raids and other small operations in southern Lebanon.
