Yesterday, Al-Shabaab militants seized control of Nuur-Dugle, a strategic town in Somalia’s Middle Shabelle region.
Following the takeover, tonight, reports from the surrounding villages of Cad-Cadey, Cadan Laxey, Wargadhi, Siciid, and Xaaji Cali indicate heightened tensions and fear among local residents. Somali government forces, who maintain bases in these areas, are reportedly under increasing pressure as Al-Shabaab militants expand their presence. Local sources report that heavily armed militants have been moving toward these villages.

Somalia has been getting stuff from Turkey and Egypt, Skidmark. Turkey likes swanning around as Elder Brother, while Egypt thinks it’s putting one over on Ethiopia somehow.
Where either gets the funds for it is beyond me — aren’t both dependent on Gulf Oil charity?

Turkey has, reportedly, about 1000 troops in Somalia.
Egypt has about the same number but intends to increase its deployment.
As far as casualties, neither Turkey nor Egypt is very forthcoming on how many of their troops were killed or injured.
We do know that Drones and manned aircraft of Turkey have inflicted a fair number of casualties, both on Al Shabaab and civilians. Numbers are uncertain.

BREAKING: A suicide car bombing followed by an infiltration attempt targeted the Boya Military fort (battalion headquarters) in Boya Muhammad Khel, Miranshah, North Waziristan, early morning.
Five terrorists attacked the facility with one detonated an explosive-laden vehicle, while four tried to breach the compound. Three attackers have been killed, one remains under engagement, and four soldiers were injured, with one reported missing.
The blast damaged the outer wall and roof of the installation. Security forces have sealed the area and launched clearance operations.
