Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine: Jobs Will Go ‘Unfilled' If Trump Deports Haitian Migrants
[Breitbart] Are his glasses getting bigger, or his head smaller? I've got money on the latter...
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine
…he’s one of those bright, accomplished, hard working country club Republicans who no longer fit the way the party has evolved, from the TEA Party movement to Donald Trump, but can’t abide what the Democrats have chosen to become. He didn’t vote for Trump in 2024, but he did vote for the Republican candidate. I can respect that…
(R) is complaining that if President Donald Trump deports Haitian migrants whose Temporary Protected Status (TPS) will soon end, jobs will go "unfilled."
People will come out of retirement and off unemployment to fill those jobs when the pay scale is increased to cover FICA and the other items seen on the paystub of legal employees. It’ll take a little while before employers come to terms with the fact that they will need to pay more upfront, but once they do they’ll realize that significantly lower worker turnover and the ability to read and follow directions in English will significantly reduce spending on overhead and waste.
Last month, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that TPS will end for tens of thousands of Haitian migrants come February 2026 — leaving them with no legal status to remain in the U.S.

DHS officials are urging Haitians on TPS to self-deport before they are arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

DeWine, in an interview with local Ohio media, complained that DHS’s potentially deporting Haitian migrants — particularly from Springfield, Ohio, where the Haitian population has exploded — will open American jobs.

"Some of the economic progress that Springfield has made would go away," DeWine said, according to Cleveland.com:

"Employers tell me many of these, maybe most of these Haitians working there will no longer be legal," DeWine said. And once that happens, "you’re going to have a lot of unfilled jobs." [Emphasis added]

As Breitbart News reported last year, a combination of TPS for Haitians, President Joe Biden’s mass migration agenda, and record levels of illegal immigration added anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000 Haitian migrants to Springfield’s resident population.
Which among other problems brought increased lawlessness and cats and dogs showing up on Haitian barbecues, if not in Springfield then nearby.

#6  In 2022, I refused to sign DeWine re-election petition in a room full of GOP diehards. They deescalated the situation as quickly as possible. His COVID nursing home policy was the same as New York’s. I undervoted the governor line on my Ohio ballot that year.

With respect to immigrants, Dewine is trying to maximize the profits of the companies that are exploiting these people. When it comes down to it, there are likely subsidies involved that make hiring these immigrants advantageous. Maybe the funding is State; maybe it is Federal.

The end result can be seen in Springfield. Ohioans who rent are pushed out. Subsidies make it more profitable for property owners to transform their properties into bunkhouses. The result is slums. Ohioans cannot compete for jobs or housing against subsidized immigrants. Licenses are issued to folks who can’t drive. Things become unsafe. None of this is in the interest of Ohio voters. All of it is in the interest of Dewine donors.

#17  DeWine’s gig is to facilitate the availability of low cost “refugees” with legal status. It’s not slavery, but the immigrants are being exploited. You can tell that exploitation is taking place because nobody making $15 to $20 an hour chooses to sleep in a bunkhouse that they rented for 4 hours. There is a huge chunk missing out of their pay that is not accounted for. The missing money is in the pockets of a person that manages an agency that provides the labor commodity to the employer. The renters are making bank. There are likely cuts for local and state politicians. Some of of it may be in the form of campaign contributions. DeWine would argue that this economic activity is beneficial to Ohioans. It does benefit a few Ohioans in the same way that Obamacare provided profits to insurers and was detrimental to the vast majority of people. DeWine will be feverishly working to replace the Haitians, Somalians and Afghans with some more impoverished legal refugees from half a globe away. Ukrainians can’t be used because they all have relatives in Cleveland and can’t be exploited.

Pentagon launches full command investigation into Sen. Mark Kelly over ‘serious misconduct' allegations
Uh oh.
[FoxNews] Arizona senator faces full Command Investigation over video calling on service members to 'refuse illegal orders'

The Office of the Secretary of War on Monday escalated its preliminary review of Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., to a full command investigation, according to a report.

The investigation into Kelly for "serious allegations of misconduct" has intensified, according to a Pentagon official, first reported by Punchbowl News, with a new probe in conjunction with the Department of War's Office of the General Counsel.

The department previously announced it had launched a formal review into allegations of misconduct against Kelly over a video calling on service members to "refuse illegal orders."

A War Department official confirmed to Fox News Digital that the Office of the Secretary of War is "escalating the preliminary review of Captain Mark Kelly, USN (Ret.), to an official Command Investigation."

"Retired Captain Kelly is currently under investigation for serious allegations of misconduct," the official said. "Further official comments will be limited to preserve the integrity of the proceedings."

Kelly said in a statement that "it should send a shiver down the spine of every patriotic American that the president and secretary of defense would abuse their power to come after me or anyone this way."

"It wasn’t enough for Donald Trump to say I should be hanged," he continued. "It wasn’t enough for Pete Hegseth to threaten me with a court martial. Now they are threatening everything I fought and served for across twenty-five years in the U.S. Navy—all because I repeated something every service member is taught."
"It's Raycisssss!"
Kelly added that he will "keep doing my job representing Arizona."

"If Trump and Hegseth think this will stop me from doing what I’ve done every day of my adult life—fighting for this country—then they’ve got the wrong guy. Tomorrow, and the next day, I will keep doing my job representing Arizona."

New Records Reveal DOJ's Yearslong Efforts to Shut Down Investigation into Clinton Foundation
[SenateCommitteeOnTheJudiciary] Department of Justice (DOJ) records provided to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) offer a behind-the-scenes look at how top leadership during the Obama-Biden administration repeatedly interfered to prevent DOJ prosecutors and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents from investigating the Clinton Foundation’s financial dealings.
“The mainstream media smeared any investigation into Hillary Clinton as unfounded nonsense, but in reality, line agents and federal prosecutors seeking to follow up on legitimate leads were sidelined by partisan leadership looking to save Clinton’s reputation. That’s a night-and-day departure from how the Biden Justice Department handled the Arctic Frost investigation against President Trump,” Grassley said. “For too long, our Justice Department has chosen winners and losers instead of enforcing the law without regard to power, party or privilege. That must never happen again. I thank Attorney General Bondi and Director Patel for turning over these records, so the American people finally know how their Justice Department failed in the Clinton investigations.”
The records, including internal emails and an investigatory timeline, were provided to Grassley in response to his oversight request and whistleblower allegations. Per the records:

  • On July 20, 2016—111 days before the 2016 election—an agent with the FBI’s Criminal Investigative Division ordered that, “based on the sensitivities surrounding the Clinton Foundation,” agents were prohibited from issuing subpoenas, conducting interviews or sharing information related to the case with other offices so as to avoid “[creating] any impression we are investigating the Clinton Foundation or the Clintons.”

  • In November 2016, FBI Headquarters, while under the leadership of then-Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, stepped in to block the Clinton Foundation investigative team from accessing potentially incriminating evidence located on the laptop of Anthony Weiner, the husband of Hillary Clinton’s political aide, Huma Abedin. McCabe, among others, recommended the information instead be routed to the FBI’s “Midyear” investigative team.

  • After the investigation was reopened in 2017, Main Justice holdovers from the previous administration allegedly provided prosecutors in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas (EDAR) with documents that omitted information regarding DOJ and FBI leadership’s interference. Additional requests the EDAR made to the FBI in 2018 “ruffled some feathers” and didn’t result in a response.

    • An EDAR prosecutor concluded “there appear to be conflicts of interest for the leadership [at Main Justice, including the Public Integrity Section,] related to the 2016 [Clinton] investigations that undermine any confidence we might normally have in looking to them for assistance.”

Trump files 'powerhouse' $10 billion lawsuit against BBC over documentary editing his Jan 6 remarks
[FoxNews] President Donald Trump filed a monster $10 billion lawsuit on Monday against the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for its 2024 "Panorama" documentary that distorted his Jan. 6 remarks.

Trump sued the BBC for both defamation and for a violation of Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act for $5 billion apiece, as the president is seeking $10 billion total. The suit, filed in the Southern District of Florida Federal Court, was filed in a personal capacity and names BBC and BBC studios productions as defendants.

"The formerly respected and now disgraced BBC defamed President Trump by intentionally, maliciously, and deceptively doctoring his speech in a brazen attempt to interfere in the 2024 Presidential Election. The BBC has a long pattern of deceiving its audience in coverage of President Trump, all in service of its own leftist political agenda. President Trump’s powerhouse lawsuit is holding the BBC accountable for its defamation and reckless election interference just as he has held other fake news mainstream media responsible for their wrongdoing," a spokesperson for Trump’s legal team told Fox News Digital.

Trump is represented by attorneys Alejandro Brito, Edward Paltzik and Daniel Epstein.

The BBC has come under intense scrutiny over the documentary about Trump’s Jan. 6, 2021, speech delivered before the riot at the U.S. Capitol. Critics claim the documentary was wildly misleading because it omitted Trump's call for supporters to protest peacefully.

The lawsuit states: "The BBC, faced with overwhelming and justifiable outrage on both sides of the Atlantic, has publicly admitted its staggering breach of journalistic ethics, and apologized, but has made no showing of actual remorse for its wrongdoing nor meaningful institutional changes to prevent future journalistic abuses."

A BBC spokesperson told Fox News Digital: "As we have made clear previously, we will be defending this case. We are not going to make further comment on ongoing legal proceedings."

The BBC previously issued an apology for the erroneous edit and said it had pulled the program from its platforms, but a spokesperson for the broadcaster added, "While the BBC sincerely regrets the manner in which the video clip was edited, we strongly disagree there is a basis for a defamation claim."

The controversy began with a bombshell report from The Telegraph that featured excerpts from a whistleblower dossier compiled by Michael Prescott, a communications advisor hired by the BBC to review its editorial standards.

The whistleblower revealed that a BBC Panorama documentary released last year had a misleading edit of comments Trump made during a rally speech given on Jan. 6, 2021, as he protested the results of the 2020 presidential election.

The documentary omitted Trump urging his supporters to protest "peacefully" and instead spliced two separate comments made nearly an hour apart, making him appear he was calling for violence.

"We're gonna walk down to the Capitol. And I'll be there with you. And we fight — we fight like hell," the documentary showed Trump saying.

In reality, Trump said, "We're gonna walk down to the Capitol. And we're gonna cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong." It wasn't until 54 minutes later that Trump called on his supporters to "fight like hell" for election integrity.

The New York Times referred to the ordeal as "one of the worst crises in its 103-year history" of the BBC. The blunder led to the resignations of BBC News CEO Deborah Turness and BBC director-general Tim Davie.

The 46-page court filing states that the documentary "has gained substantial traction and republication across various media in the United States and elsewhere globally" and the BBC "used their false and defamatory publications to maliciously disparage and damage President Trump and impugn his reputation."

Trump’s legal team suggested the defendants "timed the publication of the Panorama Documentary to be close in time to the 2024 Presidential Election" and the value of the president’s "personal brand alone is reasonably estimated to be worth tens of billions of dollars."

"Business ventures bearing his name generate hundreds of millions of dollars of annual revenue. Moreover, the injury to President Trump’s business and personal reputation inflicted by these Defendants, and their efforts to falsely, maliciously, and defamatorily portray President Trump as a violent insurrectionist, continue into the present, thereby causing massive economic damage to his brand value and significant damage and injury to his future financial prospects, in addition to continuing to harm his reputation as President of the United States of America," the suit states.

Trump is seeking a jury trial.
Britain is going funny about who gets to have a jury trial under the Sir Keir Starmer Labour government...
Trump's lawsuit against the BBC is the latest in a string of legal battles he has had with news organizations.

In December 2024, ABC News made a $16 million settlement with Trump and issued an apology after anchor George Stephanopoulos falsely claimed that Trump was found "liable for rape" in the president's civil court case against columnist E. Jean Carroll, when in fact, a New York jury found him liable for sexual abuse.

In July, Paramount made a multimillion-dollar settlement with Trump after he accused CBS News of "election interference" over its handling of a "60 Minutes" interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris in the lead-up to the 2024 election. While CBS News offered no apology or admitted to any wrongdoing, it did implement editorial reforms requiring the raw transcript of all presidential candidates to be released.

Trump also reached settlements with Meta, X and YouTube (owned by Google) and has pending lawsuits against The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Des Moines Register and veteran pollster Ann Selzer.
I think there is something called a brushback pitch, used when batters unduly crowd the plate …
Update from the Times of Israel ar10:25 a.m. ET: The BBC says they’ll fight. But of course they have to.

Europe
Merz has hit rock bottom. Within six months, the Chancellor became Germany's most unpopular politician
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Gregor Spitzen

[REGNUM] German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is, in many ways, a stereotypical product of German parliamentary democracy. A dull and uncharismatic politician with no notable episodes in his biography, he rose to the helm of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) primarily through behind-the-scenes deals within the German and international elites.

Merz has no relevant experience in public administration, but he does have experience working at BlackRock, which manages approximately 10% of all global financial assets.

His personal popularity was low even before taking office as chancellor: for example, in February 2025, according to polls, he had the support of no more than 33% of voters as a potential head of government. This was despite Merz being the leader of the main opposition political force, amid the obvious failures of the "traffic light coalition" of his unpopular predecessor, Olaf Scholz.

How could a boring financier, with such results, ever occupy the most important post in the state?

Some clarification of German political realities, which are far from obvious to the outside observer, is required here.

The fact is that since 1945, the ruling political class has been allergic to flamboyant, charismatic figures with dictatorial tendencies who can lead the masses. Therefore, in modern democratic Germany, people vote not for politicians or in referendums (that would be too dangerous), but for political parties that nominate the "most worthy" candidates for the highest government positions from their ranks.

Unfortunately, those who rise to the top of political life from the depths of Germany's systemic parties rarely turn out to be qualified specialists with anything more than experience in bureaucratic struggles and the incoherent work of a Bundestag member.

However, even relevant experience in public service does not guarantee that a politician will become a strong chancellor, as we ourselves have seen from the example of Scholz, the former Lord Mayor of Hamburg and Minister of Finance in Angela Merkel’s government.

Another fact that is important for understanding German parliamentary democracy: the need to form a government coalition greatly helps German politicians to diffuse responsibility for policy failures and avoid fulfilling election promises.

They said that fulfilling our election promises was impossible because it ran counter to the interests of our coalition partners, and without their help, we wouldn't have been able to form a viable government. This, of course, was far more important for the country and democracy than fulfilling election promises.

Thus, politicians in Germany are not punished for lying during election campaigns. There is also no procedure for revoking the mandates of elected officials for failing to justify the trust of voters.

Incidentally, Merz himself ran for the Bundestag elections actively advocating for budgetary discipline and mercilessly criticizing his predecessors from the "traffic light coalition" for their intention to raise the national debt threshold by €60 billion.

Just a week and a half after taking office as Federal Chancellor, he already announced that the situation had changed, and that now, in light of new geopolitical challenges, Germany must spend approximately €800 billion on rearming the army and upgrading its infrastructure, which would require dipping into the pockets of future generations of Germans.

With such a background of broken promises, and considering that the German economy continues to rapidly deteriorate, it is hardly surprising that Chancellor Merz's popularity ratings have plummeted.

Even among supporters of the CDU/CSU and SPD in Germany, there is widespread dissatisfaction with his government.

And when it comes to pension policy, most Germans want changes to the system.

This is the lowest point in the polls for the federal government of Chancellor Friedrich Merz since the black-red coalition came to power: in the December Deutschlandtrend rating, only a fifth of citizens give the government a positive rating.

Only 1% said they were "very satisfied" and 19% said they were "satisfied" with the government's performance. Conversely, 78% were "dissatisfied" or "not at all satisfied."

In October, the number of satisfied people already stood at 20%, which is the lowest figure since coming to power.

The survey also shows that the majority of supporters of the red-black coalition are also dissatisfied with his work: 53% of CDU/CSU supporters and 74% of SPD supporters express dissatisfaction.

In the opposition camp, discontent is even more pronounced.

But while the Chancellor can dismiss the 97% dissatisfaction of the Alternative for Germany supporters as a sign of the political force's "unwillingness to shake hands," other data should give the Chancellor pause: within his own government, he is far less popular than most of the ministers in his cabinet.

While 23% of those surveyed in December said they were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with the Chancellor's performance, 74% said the opposite.

At the same time, Labor Minister Bärbel Bas (SPD) received 26% approval, Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) – 28%, Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil (SPD) – 30%, and Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul (CDU) – 33%.

Defence Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) remains the only top politician to receive the approval of a majority of Germans, with 58%.

Following the failure of the "traffic light coalition" and the early Bundestag elections, many Germans hoped for a turning point in the country's political life. However, after just a few months in power, the new ruling coalition has completely lost the trust of the public.

After six months in office, Merz has already achieved what took Scholz two and a half years.

Considering that the forecast for the German economy has been unfavorable for the fourth year in a row, and the news feed continues to be filled with news of the closure of Germany's flagship industrial plants, it seems that the Federal Chancellor's 23% personal rating is far from the limit of negative values.
