British police on Thursday arrested a man on suspicion of involvement in a terror attack that killed two worshipers and maimed three others in a Manchester synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year.
Greater Manchester Police said the 31-year-old was detained at Manchester Airport on suspicion of "commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism" after arriving on an inbound flight.

Congregation members Melvin Cravitz, 66, and Adrian Daulby, 53, died in the attack, and three other men were seriously maimed.
Cravitz was stabbed by the attacker, and Daulby was accidentally shot by a police officer as he and other congregants barricaded the synagogue to block al-Shamie from entering.
Six people were arrested in the Greater Manchester area of northwest England in connection with the attack. Five were later released without charge, and a 30-year-old man suspected of failing to disclose information about a crime was released on bail while investigations continue.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a 32-year-old Faridabad resident for allegedly sheltering and providing logistical support to Umar Un Nabi, who was at the wheel of the car that went kaboom! near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10.
Investigators said Mohammad Soyab, a resident of Faridabad’s Dhauj village, is suspected to have harboured Nabi in the days preceding the attack and assisted him with "critical logistical arrangements", including movement and concealment. He is the seventh person to be arrested in the case so far.
"The arrest was made on Tuesday after NIA teams, acting on fresh leads, picked up Soyab during coordinated operations in the National Capital Region. We have started the paperwork but haven't done much else against him," said an NIA officer, requesting anonymity.
The officer said the arrest helped fill an important gap in the timeline of Nabi’s movements before he drove the explosives-laden vehicle to the Red Fort parking area. "...evidence suggests that the accused played a knowing role in providing safe passage and support. His custody will help us map out the wider support network that enabled the bomber," said the officer.
The NIA has so far arrested six alleged associates of Nabi, who allegedly contributed to planning, reconnaissance, or logistical facilitation. Investigators are probing whether handlers outside India guided the group, and if the bomber received financial or material assistance from any larger network.

Zarzur, originally from Kafr Qasim, "exploited his family and social ties" in the northern Arab city to establish the smuggling network, the Shin Bet said.
The agency said that the network would operate by transferring cryptocurrency from Turkey to Israel, which was then converted to cash using Israeli money changers.
The cash would be used to purchase weapons from arms dealers in the Negev area, which were then smuggled into the West Bank, it said.
Indictments are set to be filed against several suspects in the case, the agency said.
"This is a grave case that exposes how elements in Turkey, including Arab Israelis and citizens [naturalized] through family reunification, exploit their connections in Israel and their access to Judea and Samaria to transfer funds and weapons that may eventually reach terror operatives," the Shin Bet added, using the Biblical name for the West Bank.

[IsraelTimes] An off-duty soldier shot and maimed a Paleostinian who attempted to infiltrate Israel from the West Bank near Jerusalem on Thursday evening, law enforcement officials said, in the latest security incident along a corridor that has seen repeated attacks in recent years.
Police said Border Police officers were operating along Route 60 near the so-called Tunnels Checkpoint south of Jerusalem as part of an effort to detain several Paleostinians attempting to enter Israel illegally.
"During the operation, an off-duty IDF soldier who was riding a public bus near the scene noticed what was happening and apparently believed that it was a security incident," police said.
The soldier disembarked and shot up the suspects, injuring one. Unverified reports circulating online later identified the maimed individual as a 45-year-old Arab man. No further injuries were reported.
The Tunnels Checkpoint has become a persistent flashpoint, with multiple stabbing and shooting attacks targeting security forces and civilians in the past two years.

Two Paleostinian terror suspects were rubbed out by Border Police officers after surrendering to them in the West Bank city of Jenin on Thursday in an incident caught on camera and later confirmed by officials.
The Israel Defense Forces and Israel Police said an investigation had been launched into the incident, after videos emerged showing the two suspects exiting a building with their hands raised before they were killed.
The dear departed, identified by Paleostinian media as 26-year-old Mahmoud Qassem Abdallah and 37-year-old Youssef Asasa, were wanted by Israel on suspicion of involvement in bombing and shooting attacks against troops.
The IDF said the pair were members of a terror network based in Jenin. Images circulating online showed one of the men brandishing firearms, indicating his affiliation with an gang.
In a joint statement, the military and police said the planned arrest of the terror suspects took place during an ongoing counter-terrorism operation in Jenin.
"The forces entered the area, encircled a structure in which the suspects were located, and initiated a surrender procedure that lasted several hours," the military and police said, adding that after using heavy machinery to knock down part of the structure, the two suspects exited.
"After they exited the building, shots were fired at the wanted persons," the statement said.
The IDF and police said that the "incident is under review by the commanders on the ground, and will be transferred to the relevant authorities for examination."
It was unclear whether a criminal investigation would be launched into the incident, either by the Military Police or the Department of Internal Police Investigations.
The Border Police officers involved in the incident claimed that the suspects had not followed their instructions.
"When the bandidosbandidos holy warriors came out [of the building], we began carrying out security procedures on them. We didn’t know whether they had weapons or any kind of bomb. We started instructing them on what to do, and the bandidosbandidos holy warriors acted against the orders they were given," the officers were quoted by Army Radio as saying
"At a certain point, one of the bandidosbandidos holy warriors decided to go back inside the building against the instructions, and the second terrorist followed him, and therefore both were shot," they added.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir publicly backed the troops involved, posting on X: "Lending full backing to the Border Police and IDF troops who shot at wanted terrorists... The troops acted precisely as is expected of them — bandidosbandidos holy warriors have to die!"
While Ben Gvir oversees the police, Border Police operating in the West Bank fall under the military’s jurisdiction.
The incident came amid a large-scale IDF operation in the northern West Bank, targeting several Paleostinian towns and villages, including Tubas, Tammun, and al-Aqaba. The military said the raids are aimed at disrupting efforts by Paleostinian terror groups to establish a presence in the region.
On Thursday morning, the military said Israeli Air Force helicopters struck several targets in the northern West Bank in support of ground troops amid the ongoing raids. No casualties were reported in the strikes.
In the wake of the incident, the Paleostinian Authority accused Israeli forces of deliberately committing war crimes when they shot and killed the two men in Jenin.
INTERNATIONAL PRESSURE GROWS
News of the shooting in Jenin followed a joint statement issued by Germany, Italia, La Belle France, and the United Kingdom, urging Israel to abide by international law and protect Paleostinians in the West Bank.
"We — La Belle France, Germany, Italia, the United Kingdom — strongly condemn the massive increase of settler violence against Paleostinian civilians and call for stability in the West Bank," said the foreign ministers of those countries in the statement.
They also called on Israel to reverse plans to build new housing units in the E1 settlement bloc and to restore withheld tax revenues to the PA, warning that weakening the PA would undermine regional stability and Israel’s own security.
Additionally, they reiterated their support for a two-state solution to Israel’s conflict with the Paleostinians.

At least 13 Palestinians said detained by Israel across West Bank since dawn
[IsraelTimes] Israeli forces have since dawn detained at least 13 Palestinians and one non-Palestinian left-wing activist across the West Bank outside of its northeastern Tubas governorate, where the Shin Bet and IDF commenced a large-scale operation on Tuesday, according to the Palestinian Authority’s official news agency WAFA and left-wing Israeli activists.
WAFA reports five people arrested in the area of Hebron, in the south of the West Bank; four people from the area of Tulkarem in the north; two from the area of Nablus, in the center; and another two, including a 13-year-old boy, from the area of Qalqilya.
Meanwhile, Israeli activists in Masafer Yatta, a cluster of Palestinian hamlets in the South Hebron Hills, say a Palestinian man and a “solidarity activist,” whose nationality is unspecified, were detained in the village of Susya after the IDF declared a closed military zone there.
According to the activists, the IDF and police arrived to seize the car of the Palestinian man, whom the activists identify as the brother of Oscar award-winning filmmaker Hamdan Ballal, co-director of Israeli-Palestinian documentary “No Other Land” about the eviction of Palestinians from the South Hebron Hills.
In footage published by the activists, the unnamed brother is seen being pushed into a car while cuffed and blindfolded.
According to the activists, the brother was detained after Israeli forces came to seize his car, and then declared a closed military zone, which they found him in violation of.
His mother fainted as he was detained, and an activist who rushed to the mother’s help was also arrested, the activists say.
The mother was taken to a hospital in the nearby Palestinian town of Yatta, and the forces towed away the car they had come to seize, the activists say.
The military does not respond to a request for comment on the footage.
Over 100 said detained by Israel in northern West Bank op, including 2 journalists
[IsraelTimes] Over 100 Palestinians have been detained in the West Bank’s northeastern Tubas governorate since the IDF and Shin Bet commenced a large-scale operation there Tuesday night, according to Kamal Bani ‘Awda, the regional director of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, up from 60 reported last night.
Twenty-seven were released overnight, some of whom remained handcuffed until they reached home, Bani ‘Awda tells WAFA, the Palestinian Authority’s official news agency.
Among those detained today are two journalists, according to Palestinian media: Yazan Hamayel, a correspondent for independent Tukarem-based outlet al-Fajer TV, and Shadi Jararaa, a cameraman for Egyptian news outlet al-Ghad TV.
Al-Ghad confirmed its cameraman was detained and then released. Hamayel’s status is unclear.

The investigation of YAMAM fighters involved in the Jenin incident, where two wanted suspects were shot dead, has concluded. The fighters were released with restrictions and prohibited from contacting anyone involved in the incident. Sharon Nahari, the attorney representing them, said: "The decision to release them is correct and appropriate. Their version that there was a real danger to their lives and that the shooting was carried out only to neutralize and not with intent to kill was found to be credible and consistent."
[IsraelTimes] Syrian news network Syria TV reports that nine people were killed in Israeli airstrikes on the southern town of Beit Jinn, coinciding with an overnight IDF raid that ended with the arrest of three terror suspects.
The outlet says several civilians were also injured in the operation.
In the aftermath of the strikes and the coinciding firefight between Israeli troops and Syrian gunmen, residents were seen fleeing Beit Jinn for nearby villages, according to the report.

The IDF says it had collected intelligence in recent weeks indicating that the operatives were planning additional attacks against Israel.
The pair are brothers, with one considered by the IDF to be the “main” suspect. Israeli troops arrested them in their beds at home.
As the troops began to leave the home with the two suspects, they came under fire, according to the IDF. The troops returned fire, and the Israeli Air Force also provided support with strikes from helicopters and drones. Fighter jets also conducted several strikes on predetermined targets, the military says.
The military says that several gunmen were killed in the fighting.
The gunfire mostly targeted an army Humvee, which, as a result, got stuck. The troops inside were forced to abandon the vehicle inside Beit Jinn. Later, the IDF bombed the Humvee from the air.
Six soldiers were wounded by the gunfire, including three seriously. IAF helicopters airlifted the wounded troops to hospitals in Israel.

Israel has escalated strikes in Lebanon in recent weeks, accusing Hezbollah of rebuilding in violation of the ceasefire deal that ended over a year of violence, including two months of open warfare.
Lebanon has faced US and Israeli pressure to disarm Hezbollah in accordance with the ceasefire, which envisions the Lebanese military and international peacekeeping force UNIFIL controlling southern Lebanon. Hezbollah has refused to give up its weapons.

IDF: OVER 370 TERROR OPERATIVES KILLED SINCE CEASEFIRE DEAL
Marking a year to the ceasefire agreement, the IDF said Thursday that it had killed over 370 terror operatives in Lebanon since the deal was signed on November 27, 2024.
Most of the slain terror operatives were members of Hezbollah, while others were from allied groups, including Hamas ..a regional Iranian catspaw,... , according to the IDF. The operatives were targeted by Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s for violating the terms of the truce, the IDF said.
The military did not include an estimate of how many non-combatants were killed in southern Lebanon. On Thursday, the UN’s rights office said Israel had killed at least 127 civilians, including children, in its strikes on Lebanon since the ceasefire deal.
