In April, the BBC reported that carpet weaving was a "lifeline" for women and girls in the Islamic caliphate nation:
At a workshop in Kabul where carpets are made, hundreds of women and girls work in a cramped space, the air thick and stifling.
Among them is 19-year-old Salehe Hassani. "We girls no longer have the chance to study," she says with a faltering smile. "The circumstances have taken that from us, so we turned to the workshop."
Since the Taliban seized power in 2021, girls over the age of 12 have been barred from getting an education, and women from many jobs.
In 2020, only 19% of women were part of the workforce - four times less than men. That number has dropped even further under Taliban rule.
The lack of opportunities, coupled with the dire economic situation the country faces, have pushed many into long, laborious days of carpet weaving - one of the few trades the Taliban government allows women to work in.
This wasn't the first time the Taliban banned this form of employment. In 2024, they banned women in six districts of Nangarhar from working at carpet weaving factories.
While the world turns a blind eye to the plight of Afghan women, they continue to allow the men who oppress them have citizenship in Western nations.

[American Thinker] For once, a video has gone "viral" on social media platforms that actually deserves to be seen by everyone. It involves hundred-year-old Royal Navy and Arctic Convoy veteran Alec Penstone in a live appearance on Friday’s episode of Good Morning Britain. Co-hosts Adil Ray and Kate Garraway intended to use Penstone as a pre—Armistice Day prop for conveying to the country’s viewing audience that corporate news reporters are just as patriotic as ordinary Brits who are thrown in jail for waving Union Jack flags near taxpayer-funded hotels housing child-grooming illegal aliens.
You could see how Ray, Garraway, and Good Morning Britain’s producers expected the conversation to go. They would introduce Penstone as a WWII hero (he is!). The co-hosts would talk about the sacrifices so many young Brits made during both world wars to preserve the U.K.’s independence and freedoms. By pretending to care about Penstone, the corporate news propagandists would then peel away some of the centenarian’s nobility and honor and paste those virtues onto themselves. It didn’t work out so well for the corporate talking heads.
When the co-hosts asked Penstone for his thoughts on Remembrance Day and what it should mean for the country, the humble veteran responded with heartbreaking sincerity: "I can see in my mind’s eye those rows and rows of white stones. All the hundreds of my friends, everybody else, who gave their lives. For what? The country of today. No, I’m sorry, the sacrifice wasn’t worth the result that it is now."

In July of 2024, Robinson was in a quite expensive car and headed out for what was a pretty regular visit to Benidorm, Spain. He was planning to take the Chunnel, whose entrance is in Folkestone, Southeast England. Robinson was stopped in the inspection lane by police and questioned, who found he also had quite a bit of cash on him.
Things then took a twist when police demanded that Robinson turn over his phone and the passcode so they could inspect the contents.
Robinson said, 'No.'
...An officer was suspicious of Robinson because of his behaviour, the expensive car he was driving, a friend's silver Bentley Bentayga SUV, and the fact he had only bought a ticket to travel on that day, prosecutors previously told Westminster Magistrates' Court.
Police asked the 42-year-old for the pin for his iPhone, but he refused because he said it contained "journalistic material."
That was insufficient for the police, who had, of course, recognized Robinson, who was none too pleased about what seemed to be purely political harassment.
...“He gave short, vague replies and made no eye contact,” she said.
Robinson, who was recognised by police, was led to an interview room and his phone was seized, the court heard.
...Asked to hand over the phone’s Pin, Robinson replied: “Not a chance, bruv... you look like c---s so you ain’t having it.”
“It’s my work, I’m a journalist,” he said, adding that the phone held information about “vulnerable girls”.
“The process by which journalistic material would be protected was explained to him,” Ms Morris said.
After his refusal, Robinson was held and then charged under the UK's terrorism code.
...At the time, Kent Police said a 41-year-old man was detained by officers under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
Under the legislation, police are allowed to stop anyone passing through a UK port “to determine whether they may be involved or concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism”.
The person who is detained can be held for up to six hours, is legally obliged to answer questions and must provide the password or Pin for electronic devices, or be held to have committed a criminal offence if they refuse.
Robinson was charged with one count of failing to provide the Pin to his mobile phone under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000, police said.
He was turned loose for a trial to be scheduled later.
In October of last year, Robinson was sent to prison on a contempt of court citation, but was released early this past May after the original 18-month sentence was reduced.
He still had some court dates to keep when he walked out, and one of them was for the Chunnel incident.
...Robinson was charged with two counts of harassment causing fear of violence between August 5 and 7 2024.
He is also facing a separate trial in October next year over an accusation that he failed to provide the Pin for his mobile phone when stopped by Kent Police in Folkestone in July 2024.
There's also been some interesting discussion about the amount of cash Robinson had on him. It seems that's often the case anymore, as he's been debanked in the UK courtesy of his various court cases and status as a dangerous 'right-wing' agitator.
Three weeks ago, the hearing on the terrorism charge began, and from the very beginning, the police seemed to have problems justifying the stop. Robinson's lawyer, paid for by none other than Elon Musk, hammered home the biased and targeted nature of the entire episode.
...Alisdair Williamson KC, defending, said the reason police stopped Robinson for the “fishing expedition” was based to a “significant degree on a protected characteristic”, his Right-wing views.
“We say it is obvious,” he told the court. “He was stopped unlawfully, detained unlawfully for 40 minutes and asked questions that were something to do with his political beliefs.”
Pc Mitchell Thorogood, the officer who detained Robinson, told the court on Tuesday that he did so because it was “unusual” for someone to drive alone in a luxury car that was not his own all the way to Benidorm.
However, Mr Williamson told the court that Robinson’s passport showed he often travelled to Benidorm and the officers’ line of questioning was focused on current affairs, suggesting Robinson’s political beliefs were their “predominant influence”.
There was a break of another few weeks before a decision was rendered, as Robinson - again, accused of a terrorism-related offense - was allowed to go ahead with a previously planned visit to Israel.
Yesterday, everyone was back in court for the verdict and holding their collective breaths.
Somehow, Robinson had lucked into a British judge who still believed in freedom.
I CANNOT CONVICT YOU
Tommy Robinson was stopped by police and charged with a terror offence because of his political beliefs, a judge has ruled.
On Tuesday, Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was cleared of the terror charge at Westminster magistrates’ court.
He was stopped in his Bentley at the Channel Tunnel in Folkestone in July 2024 and accused of “frustration” of police counter-terrorism powers after refusing to give police his mobile phone password.
District Judge Sam Goozee found Robinson not guilty of failing to comply with the counter-terrorism powers during the incident on July 28 last year.
Mr Goozee said: “I cannot put out of my mind that it was actually what you stood for and your political beliefs that acted as the principal reason for this stop.”
He also said Pc Mitchell Thorogood’s decision to stop Robinson was based on a “protected characteristic”, adding: “I cannot convict you.”
Robinson's post-verdict interviews and ones such as this with Ezra Levant emphasize the judge's scathing criticism of the police in his decision and the illegality of the entire episode.
As another analyst said, this does throw a wrinkle into the next court session, the harassment case. This apparently revolves around two news hounds who photographed Robinson and his family on vacation, so Robinson returned the favor and photographed them photographing.
Robinson was arrested and charged with harassment. The news hounds were not.
His defense team will now be able to argue that the charges were politically motivated targeting as part of their case.
To his credit, Robinson has been effusive in his thanks to Musk for the generous assistance covering the over £100,000 cost of defending this one legal action.
As he says, though - what a shame an American businessman is the only one willing to pay to defend an Englishman from the overreach of his own government.

As I recall, my sister-in-law took her daughter and son-in-law to Mr. Ramsey’s course because the newlyweds had got themselves in a bit of a pickle despite having two good incomes. [PJMedia] One of the more noxious aspects of Zohran Mamdani’s campaign to be mayor of New York City is the reappearance of Linda Sarsour, the far-left, oxymoronically hijab-wearing "feminist" activist who rocketed to international fame some years ago as the hate-filled face of the leftist/Islamic alliance, glossing over the human rights ...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless... abuses of Sharia and demonizing Israel with extravagant false claims long before doing so became the left’s favorite pastime. As it turns out, Sarsour has not been enjoying a comfortable, Soros-financed retirement; she has been working on what she calls "the quiet side" of the Mamdani campaign.
Quiet side or not, however, Sarsour has been loquacious of late, and what she has been saying should give every New Yorker pause, although it probably won’t. In an Instagram livestream that she posted on Saturday but later took down, Sarsour declared that she was determined to keep the pressure up on Mayor Mamdani to dismantle the Strategic Response Group, the NYPD’s counterterror unit, which is also responsible for policing protests. "If Zohran’s gonna be the mayor of New York City," Sarsour vowed, "he’s going to shut down the Strategic Response Group, the SRG, which is what Zohran has committed to."
Now, who in his or her or xer right mind would want to shut down counterterror policing in the American city that has suffered the most from terrorism? The "quiet" Sarsour has kept on talking, and now has revealed that as well. The indispensable Canary Mission, which tracks and documents antisemitic activity, on Monday released a video of Sarsour saying:
Right now I’m a little more quiet, because I’m on the quiet side of this race, but I’m gonna tell you that once November 4th comes around, I will tell the story. The story is not just, uh, you know, that it’s random that Zohran ascended to this place. It is our Moslem-American communities. And I’ll also say that it’s Moslem money. The PACs that have supported Zohran, or a particular PAC that has supported Zohran is probably over eighty percent of Moslem-American donors in this country. High-net donors, grassroots donors. And I wanna make the point that the Unity and Justice Fund PAC, which is the CAIR Super PAC, was the largest institutional door — a largest institutional donor to the pro-Zohran PAC in New York.
So now we know. The Hamas ..a regional Iranian catspaw,... -linked Council on American-Islamic Relations ... the Moslem Brüderbund's American arm ... (CAIR), which has a long history of fighting against counterterror measures and branding foes of jihad violence and Sharia oppression as "Islamophobic," is bankrolling the candidate who has pledged to dismantle the NYPD’s counterterror unit.
CAIR wasn’t alone, either. Intifada on the Hudson: The Selling of Zohran Mamdani documents that Mamdani also had significant backing from George Soros ...either Ernst Stavro Blofeld or Auric Goldfinger come true. Maybe both.... . The nonagenarian leftist’s Open Society Foundations gave $37 million to the Working Families Party. The New York Post reported in July that "since 2016, the far-left, socialist-friendly WFP—which helped score Mandani the Democratic line by brokering cross-endorsement deals that squeezed out Cuomo—has pocketed a staggering $23.7 million from Soros through its nonprofit fundraising arm Working Families Organization Inc. And at least another $13,944,005 went to the nine nonprofits and their offshoot fundraising entities—including the Make The Road Action ($3,515,00), and social justice nonprofits Community Voices Heard ($2,635,000) and Move On ($2.3 million), and the anti-Zionist group Jewish Voice for Peace Acton ($650,000), according to records."
So, as it turns out, the candidate who vows to be an amiable technocrat, working to make New York City affordable again, has massive backing from a Hamas-linked group that consistently opposes counterterror efforts, as well as a conglomeration of far-left organizations that want to bring down the existing system altogether and establish an authoritarian socialist internationalist regime in the United States and beyond.
