...US Senator from Texas. Republican contender for president in 2016, his stiff and abrasive manner earned him the title most hated man in the Senate. After a close win over Beto O'Rourke, who tried to out-Lastino him, he grew a beard and let his biting wit shine through. Cruz's comments have been known to leave life-threatening wounds at better than forty feet... warned of rising antisemitism on the right — and a lack of Republican voices calling it out — as he kicked off the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual summit Thursday night.
The speech reiterated comments he made at a San Antonio megachurch last week, including the core message that he’s recently seen more right-wing antisemitism than ever before.
"In the last six months, I’ve seen more antisemitism on the right than I had in my entire life," Cruz said.
"This is a poison," he continued. "And I believe we are facing an existential crisis in our party and our country."
The RJC’s annual gathering, being held this weekend at the Venetian Resort Las Vegas, comes as a growing number of conservatives are turning against Israel, while right-wing voices who are spreading antisemitic conspiracies are finding mainstream audiences.
Cruz, a longtime supporter of Israel, presented the moment of division on the right as "a time for choosing."
"And as for me, I choose to stand with you," Cruz said to the room of about 100 Jewish Republican donors. "I choose to stand with Israel, and I choose to stand with America."
As at the megachurch, Cruz, who is Christian, did not name names in his criticism of the "anti-Israel right." But on Thursday, he hinted strongly that he was speaking about Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News personality who recently hosted a friendly conversation with the white nationalist livestreamer Nick Fuentes. Carlson said during the interview that GOP supporters of Israel — including Cruz — are infected by a "brain virus."
"If you sit there and nod adoringly while someone tells you that Winston Churchill was the villain of World War II, if you sit there and nod while someone says, ’There’s a very good argument America should’ve intervened on behalf of Nazi Germany in World War II,’ if you sit there with someone who says ’Adolf Hitler ...late Fuehrer of Germany, founder of the Third Reich, currently communing with his pals Himmler and Heydrich. He is reincarnated every few days, sometimes every few hour if it's an election year, as a politician somebody doesn't like... was very, very cool,’ and that their mission is to combat and defeat global Jewry, and you say nothing?" Cruz said. "Then you are a coward and you are complicit in that evil."
His comments came just hours after Kevin Roberts, the president of leading conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation, answered mounting questions about whether he would continue to associate with Carlson after the Fuentes interview — with a resounding defense of Carlson.
RJC CEO Matt Brooks told Jewish Insider that, after working with Heritage over the years, there would be "a reassessment of our relationship with Heritage in light of this."
Cruz called out the silence of Republican elected officials who’ve not spoken out against increasing right-wing antisemitism.
"I have to say, too many people are scared to confront them," he said, referring to the "grotesque bigots" who do not plainly see Hitler as "the embodiment of evil."
"How many elected Republicans do you see standing up and calling this out?" Cruz said. "How many do you see willing to take on the voices on the anti-Israel right?"
One name invoked by Cruz in a positive light was US President Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... , whom the Texas senator called "the most pro-Israel president in the history of the United States," to loud applause.
Cruz affirmed to the RJC’s membership that with Trump in the White House, their interest in assisting Israel in its conflicts would be upheld, and kept away from the skepticism of a growing isolationist faction that would rather the United States not get involved.
(Trump has not publicly weighed in on Carlson hosting Fuentes; Trump once dined with Fuentes and rapper Ye between presidential terms in 2022, later saying that he had not known who Fuentes was.)
But Cruz then pointed to the post-Trump future as a fork in the road moment for the Republican Party.
"When Trump is not in the White House, what then?" Cruz said.
One man called out, "Ted Cruz!"
One potential candidate for Republican leadership in 2028 was not named in Cruz’s speech: JD Vance.
Cruz lauded Trump’s efforts in taking on Hamas ..one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,... and cracking down on campus protests, but did not name Vance as a friend of Jewish Americans.
Vance faced criticism this week after failing to push back on skeptical questions about Israel, including one laced with an antisemitic conspiracy theory, at a Turning Point USA event at Ole Miss. Vance also downplayed the messages sent in the recent Young Republicans leak, saying the text messages sent by early-career GOP activists — which included jokes about gas chambers, racist slurs and praise of Hitler — were simply immature "jokes" and that critics should "grow up."
Cruz emphasized the need to "engage in college campuses" and "engage in the facts" in order to overcome the "handful of voices that are spreading this garbage," whom he said were "giving every one of us a time for choosing."
He thanked the crowd for being "patriots."
"You love America — although the fact that you are Jewish means that there are idiots who would accuse you of not loving America simply because of it," he said, invoking the dual loyalties trope to which Fuentes subscribes.
Cruz’s 25-minute speech included celebratory jokes about Israel’s pager operation that killed dozens of Hezbollah forces of Evil and put 1,500 out of commission due to their injuries, condemnations of what he called a growing "pro-Hamas wing" of the Democratic Party, and a reflection on the horrors of the Hamas-led October 7, 2023, onslaught on Israel.
But its main thrust was that the Republican Party has reached a point where its Jewish and pro-Israel membership must think about how to stave off a growing anti-Israel movement, and quell the proliferation of antisemitic conspiracy theories.
Cruz began his speech by remarking that this was the RJC’s 40th-anniversary summit — a fact that he said poignantly reinforced the weight of this moment.
"Thinking back over the last 40 years, I don’t know that there has been a year in those 40 that the Republican Jewish Coalition was more needed than right now," Cruz said.
[NYPOST] A federal judge has ruled the Trump administration cannot enforce an executive order requiring documented proof of US citizenship on federal voter registration forms, a decision the administration defends as a lawful effort to protect election integrity.
US District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly in Washington, DC, on Friday found the requirement unconstitutional, writing that the president ''lacks the authority to direct such changes.''
''The first question presented in these consolidated cases is whether the president, acting unilaterally, may direct changes to federal election procedures,'' Kollar-Kotelly wrote in her opinion.
''Because our Constitution assigns responsibility for election regulation to the States and to Congress, this Court holds that the President lacks the authority to direct such changes.''
However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat... a spokesperson for the White House told Fox News Digital Trump acted within his legal powers.
''President Trump has exercised his lawful authority to ensure only American citizens are casting ballots in American elections,'' White House deputy press secretary Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital in an email. ''This is so commonsense that only the Democrat Party would file a lawsuit against it.

Thought Experiment: This is a DC Judge, so let us assume she has a Driver's License issued from Maryland or Virginia or DC. Well, what if she gets pulled over while visiting Martha's Vineyard -- Using her logic, she does not have to show her Driver's License because Massachusetts has no authority over her driving.
By her logic, a Massachusetts cop has as much authority over her Maryland Driver's License as a President Trump has over a Federal Election.
If the Feds have no authority over Federal Elections, then why even bother holding Federal "elections" and just let each State Governor decide who wins each Federal Election.

A majority of state id's and driver licenses have Star symbol that indicates the person is in fact an E-verified US Citizen.

The Constitution only allows the Executive to spend monies that Congress has approved. Yet, two circuit judges has dictated that the President spend money that the government hasn't approved for food programs (which do not appear in the enumerated powers of Congress).

^NN@#3, An interesting side note to your comment. One of my bros-in-law has a brand new State of Texas ID, with the star on it. His driving priviledges have been removed due to dementia. However, he still can vote.

Well the Constitution does say the States are in charge of elections within the State... however, it also says the federal government is responsible for insuring that each state is a representative republic.

..the Constitution also says that presidential electors were to be selected in a manner established by the legislative branch of the state. That did not happen in 2020 in Pennsylvania. The challenge to that was dismissed by Roberts in 2021.
[FoxNews] Five international foundations from UK, Denmark and Switzerland target American nonprofits and advocacy organizations, report reveals
A new report revealed that five foreign charities have donated just shy of $2 billion into various American nonprofits and policy advocacy groups focused on climate change and political activism.
Americans for Public Trust released a detailed, 31-page report with receipts tracking money from foreign charities to U.S. groups. It notes that while contributing directly to political candidates is not permitted under federal law, election-related activities like "get-out-and-vote" campaigns, some lobbying efforts, issue advertising and other politically-charged activities, are in play for foreign dollars.
"There's not a question about where it's going and where it is coming from," Americans for Public Trust executive director Caitlin Sutherland told Fox News Digital. "We know that it's foreign money coming into our U.S. policy fights, climate litigation, research, protests, lobbying, you name it."
"Foreign money is coming in, and it's trying to erode our democracy," Sutherland added.
The groups that contributed to the near $2 billion in foreign money include the Quadrature Climate Foundation (U.K.), the KR Foundation (Denmark), the Oak Foundation (Switzerland), the Laudes Foundation (Switzerland/Netherlands), and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (U.K.).
The most sizable, the Quadrature Climate Foundation, has awarded roughly $520 million to 41 U.S. groups since 2020, according to the report.
"The most surprising place that the foreign money has ended up is into a group called the Environmental Law Institute [ELI]," Sutherland explained to Fox News Digital. "They are well known for running a group called the Climate Judiciary Project. They work to educate judges on climate litigation."
"So the fact that a group that is so-called educating judges on climate is the beneficiary of foreign money is a huge problem," Sutherland added.
ELI received a grant of $650,000 from the Oak Foundation, based out of Switzerland, in separate grants since 2018.
"The Environmental Law Institute received a $300,000 grant from the Oak Foundation in 2018 to support the drafting of a toolkit for sustainable small-scale fisheries," ELI spokesperson Nick Collins told Fox News Digital. "Building on successful examples from around the world, the toolkit offers guidance on how to strengthen small scale fisheries through law."
"ELI is an independent, nonpartisan organization, and any grant funding we receive is contingent on protecting this independence," Collins continued. "No funder dictates our work, and our grants are administered in compliance with IRS rules and regulations."
The Environmental Law Institute has also received federal grants from the U.S. government in the past, most recently under the Biden administration’s EPA and State Department in 2022.
In August of this year, 23 state attorneys general sent a letter to EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin that called for the halting of federal funding.
Zeldin and President Donald Trump's EPA subsequently axed funding to ELI.
"We were also able to trace that $1.6 million in foreign money has come from the Oak Foundation into a group called Community Change," Sutherland continued. "They are the front group that has led the charge against Trump's crackdown on crime. So again, we're seeing where foreign money coming in to protest, litigation, training is ending up."
According to the report, $1.6 million from the Oak Foundation has been funneled into Community Change, the organization recognized as the "fiscal sponsor" behind Free DC, which was responsible for the anti-Trump protests in Washington D.C.

How about a simple law that restricts donations and political funding to individual US Citizen voters... not NGO's & companies? With a $100 limit per election or cause per voter.

The chancellor of Syracuse University has revealed he believes Iran was behind the pro-Palestine protests that swept across US campuses.
'When things happened - that I really believe were encouraged from Iran - it did not have the involvement of very many if any of our own students,' Chancellor Kent Syverud said on Tuesday.
He revealed his hypothesis on a panel with other chancellors from Washington and Vanderbilt Universities.
Syverud said it was hard to discipline students for the demonstrations on campus because many were wearing face masks to 'avoid accountability'.
He also said it was hard to determine who were students and were not due to protesters wearing facial coverings.
Vanderbilt Chancellor Daniel Diermeier agreed, saying he, too, believed the protests were backed by 'organized networks,' while speaking on the panel.
'[Students] were looking at [and] were using the playbook that they had seen at Columbia and other places, and it was the same messaging. It’s more than social contagion,' he said.
'I think there are organized networks as well. And for sure we saw that.'
Washington University Chancellor Andrew D. Martin also agreed, stating: 'Many of the things that happened on our campus, including an attempted encampment, we didn’t allow it to take place and ultimately had folks arrested to shut it down on a Saturday evening.'
Martin said, like Syracuse, many of the participants were not students.
'Three quarters of those individuals had nothing to do with the university,' he said.
