[GatewayPundit] Stephen Bryant is currently sitting on death row in South Carolina for the shooting deaths of three men over twenty years ago in 2004.
According to the laws of the state, Bryant had a choice in his method of execution and he had to choose by October 31st.

WASHINGTON – Naqwan Antonio Lucas, 18, of the District of Columbia, has been charged in a 16-count indictment for the June 30 murder of 21-year-old congressional intern Eric Tarpinian-Jachym and charged in a second indictment for the July 4 murder of 17-year-old Zoey Kelley, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
Lucas, aka "Qwan," appeared before Judge Dana Dayson this afternoon in D.C. Superior Court for his arraignment on both indictments. Lucas pleaded not guilty "Wudn't me." and Judge Dayson held Lucas until a status hearing with his co-defendants scheduled for November 7.
Joining in the announcement were Chief Pamela A. Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), U.S. Marshals Service Director Gadyaces S. Serralta, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Reid Davis of the Washington Field Office Criminal Division.
"These were predictable homicides based upon the behavior of these individuals and the records that everyone knew about, yet the D.C. Council is interested in protecting not the victims but the criminals under the guise of protecting the innocence of youth," said U.S. Attorney Pirro. Lucas was arrested last night in Montgomery Village, Maryland, by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, MPD, and U.S. Marshals.
On June 30, Tarpinian, a rising senior at the University of Massachusetts — Amherst, was an innocent bystander when three armed suspects exited a stolen vehicle and began firing shots at two young men near the intersection of 7th and M Street NW. Tarpinian, of Granby, Massachusetts, was shot four times and died the next day. Five other people also were assaulted or injured.
Kelvin Thomas, Jr., 17, and Naqwan Lucas’ brother Jailen Lucas, 17, were arrested September 5 and charged as adults on counts of first-degree murder while armed in connection with Tarpinian’s slaying.
On July 4, MPD officers were flagged down about 5:20 p.m. on the 1700 block of Benning Road NE. The officers followed two witnesses into an apartment and found Zoey Kelley, 17, dead of a gunshot wound to the head inside of a storage container wrapped in bedding in the bedroom closet.
Last week, the MPD and FBI announced a $75,000 reward for information leading to Lucas’ arrest.
This case is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Marshal’s Service with valuable assistance from the FBI Washington Field Office.
It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Erin M. DeRiso and Anthony Cocuzza.

'Such a delay undermines our ability to safeguard public health and maintain transparency. Immediate notification is a regulatory requirement and is critical for ensuring community trust and safety.'
According to Dr. Philip, the contamination was discovered when workers grinding asphalt during field operations captured plutonium particles in an air filter.

The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to a massive group of juveniles allegedly "engaging in fights and disrupting the flow of traffic."
Police said five people were taken into custody, including four juveniles. They face charges, including possession of a prohibited weapon, public consumption of marijuana and resisting arrest.
One sergeant sustained minor injuries after being knocked to the ground while trying to restore order in a park, officials said.
"The behavior displayed last night in Navy Yard is unacceptable, and MPD and our law enforcement partners will have an increased presence tonight to ensure this does not happen again," Chief of Police Pamela Smith said in a statement Saturday.
In response to the unrest, Bowser announced late Saturday afternoon that a "limited juvenile curfew" was being enacted.
"We are declaring a limited juvenile curfew in Washington, DC," Bowser posted to X. "Effective immediately, all juveniles under the age of 18 are subject to a curfew from 11PM until 6AM, which will extend through [Nov. 5]."
The Chief of Police has also been granted the authority to establish special curfew zones for minors under 18 years old, beginning at 6 p.m, Bowser added.
"This is in response to several weeks of disorderly juvenile behavior which endangered both themselves and others," Bowser said.

[Breitbart] Safety tests by a public transport operator in Oslo, Norway, conducted have raised grave concerns over Chinese electric buses.
The operator known as Ruter conducted secret trials a few months ago on an electric bus from a European manufacturer and one from China’s Yutong to determine if there were cybersecurity threats, MENAFN reported Wednesday.
The European bus remained secure but the Chinese-made one had the ability to be manipulated by its manufacturer.
The manufacturer has access to buses’ software, diagnostics, and battery control systems, therefore the manufacturer could stop or render the vehicle unusable, Ruter explained.
Arild Tjomsland, a special advisor at the University of South-Eastern Norway who assisted with the tests, emphasized the risks: “The Chinese bus can be stopped, turned off, or receive updates that can destroy the technology that the bus needs to operate normally.”
He noted that while hackers and suppliers cannot steer the buses, the ability to stop them could disrupt operations or serve as leverage during a crisis.

At Washington Street Mission in Springfield, director Jarid Brown said demand in Central Illinois has surged sharply since benefits were frozen. "Yesterday I got a call from one of our churches who has a large food pantry, and they had twice the number of people there that night and actually cleaned everything out. If we double that number, it’s only going to last a few weeks. If we see triple that number come in, we’ll be cleaned out within a couple of weeks."
"If you’re living in poverty, if you are in that lowest income, it’s hard enough to climb out of poverty as it is. But now you add in rising food prices and you add in rising utility prices. It makes it nearly impossible for anyone to get out of that hole," Brown added.

[AP] PHILADELPHIA (AP) — At the Arch Street Meeting House in Philadelphia’s Old City, more and more young people are seeking respite from a clamorous technological age in the silent worship of a centuries-old faith.
Like other Quaker houses of worship, it follows values of simplicity and equality. There’s no clergy, pulpit or altar. No statues of saints, no stained-glass windows. No one sings or chants, burns incense or lights candles. They simply sit in silence in 200-year-old wooden pews — and wait for a message from God to move through them until they speak.
"This feels different in that it’s so simple. It’s set up in a way that makes you feel like your internal world ... is equally as important as the space that you’re in," says Valerie Goodman, a pink-haired artist reading her Bible outside the meeting house on a recent Sunday before going inside. Goodman, 27, grew up Southern Baptist but left the evangelical church in college.
"It feels like I can have a minute to breathe. It’s different than having a moment of meditation in my apartment because there’s still all of the distractions around," Goodman says. "And it’s crazy being in a room full of other people that are all there to experience that themselves."
It has been called the "Westminster Abbey of Quakerism." Yet for years, attendance at Arch Street was so low, and its historic 300-seat West Room felt so empty, that the few people present began to meet in a smaller room. But recent years have produced an unprecedented surge in the number of attendees at Sunday worship — from about 25 before the coronavirus pandemic to up to 100 today.
"One of the things that I’m very excited about is the number of people that we have coming to meeting, and the fact that the majority of them are young," says Hazele Goodridge, Arch Street’s clerk.

Huff began investigating EcoHealth’s research portfolio and the work of other vice presidents, as well as projects involving other staff. It soon became "apparently obvious" that the organization was conducting gain-of-function research and viral discovery aimed at producing novel pathogens.
EcoHealth was creating new deadly viruses, according to Huff.
EXPANDING GAIN-OF-FUNCTION RESEARCH INTO CHINA
Peter Daszak, Ph.D., president of EcoHealth, asked Huff to help him expand the company’s portfolio of research in China. Huff refused.
The Chinese have a pattern of "lie, cheat and steal," he recalled telling Daszak in an executive meeting. "Aren’t you the slightest bit concerned that the Chinese are going to do something nefarious?"
Daszak had a different take, according to Huff. Daszak told Huff that the work with China and the U.S. relationship with the Chinese were very important.
