Sahaf said on Wednesday that they had readied credentials for a total of 40 migrants - all from the Kurdistan Region - ahead of their repatriation to Iraq on Saturday. They too had entered Libya to use its waterways to illegally move to Europe.
The Kurdistan Region has seen repeated waves of youth migration over the past decade, largely driven by economic hardship and the search for better opportunities abroad.
Iraq has already repatriated 68 migrants from Libya so far, according to Sahaf.

It is one of several concepts being explored, said two US officials and a humanitarian official familiar with the plan, as Washington seeks to facilitate increased deliveries of assistance to the Paleostinian enclave after two years of war.

The hubs would also include "voluntary reconciliation facilities" for turbans to give up their weapons and receive amnesty, and forward operating bases for future forces with the planned international stabilization force to help demilitarize Gaza.
"The UN and NGOs in Gaza will be mandated to use the platform run by the CMCC and will provide the goods distributed from the hubs," according to the proposal, which also says the aim would be for all aid in Gaza to be delivered via the hubs within 90 days.
"CMCC will monitor and enforce security of convoys through drone monitoring, ensuring Hamas ..a regional Iranian catspaw,... does not interdict trucks," it says. Israel and the U.S. have accused Hamas of stealing aid, which the murderous Moslem group denies.
The United Nations ...the Oyster Bay money pit... and international aid groups are likely to be wary of the plan that in part resembles the GHF method of using secure distribution hubs and armed escorts to transport aid.

“The Turkish aid organization İHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has begun supporting efforts in northern Gaza, which has suffered great destruction, by providing humanitarian aid, as well as assisting with environmental cleanup, road clearing, and debris removal to restore basic living conditions following the ceasefire,” Salih Mutlu Şen, the Turkish ambassador to Egypt, posted on X on October 18.
IHH has been outlawed in Israel due to ties with Palestinian terror groups, and has also been banned in Germany and the Netherlands.
In the Mavi Marmara incident, 10 Turkish activists were killed in a violent confrontation with Israeli naval commandos aboard a ship that aimed to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza.
[IsraelTimes] As a fragile ceasefire holds in the Gaza Strip after two years of war, fresh Israeli military assessments find that the Hamas terror group still has some 20,000 members in its military wing.
According to the IDF, before the terror group’s October 7, 2023, attack, Hamas had some 30,000 fighters in the Gaza Strip, split into five regional brigades, 24 battalions, and some 140 companies.
These units have been systematically dismantled by the military over the 24 months of fighting in Gaza, though some, in the central Gaza Strip, were largely untouched.
While the IDF says it has killed over 22,000 terror operatives in Gaza during the war, Hamas has managed to recruit new fighters, according to the military. The military assesses, however, that the new recruits are of a much lower quality and have not undergone any significant training.
The army last year stated that Hamas had been defeated “militarily” across Gaza, and is now effectively a guerrilla terror group.
Also, according to the IDF’s assessments, Hamas is still believed to possess hundreds of rockets, mostly short-range but including some that could reach central Israel. Hamas also has access to thousands of small arms, the IDF believes.
Additionally, the IDF previously estimated that it had destroyed just 25% of Hamas’s tunnels across the entire Strip since the beginning of the war. However, the military argues that the main focus has been on Hamas’s attack tunnels and those used as command centers or for weapons manufacturing — the vast majority of which have been destroyed — rather than on the numerous tunnels that Hamas uses to move around the Strip, especially in areas where ground troops never operated.

[IsraelTimes] An Iranian site that Israel bombed as part of an October 2024 strike is being rebuilt, according to a report by an international security organization.
The report from the Institute for Science and International Security, published Monday, says that Taleghan 2, formerly a site where nuclear weapons were developed, has seen significant construction over the past year.
The site was one of several hit in Israel’s hours-long strike on Iranian defense batteries and drone and ballistic missile manufacturing and launch sites. The strikes were in retaliation for an Iranian ballistic missile barrage targeting Israel weeks earlier, and came some eight months before the 12-day war between the two countries in June 2025.
The construction at Taleghan 2 began in May, a few weeks before the June war, and by September, several new arched structures had been built at the site, the report said. The arches may enable the buildings to be turned into bunkers. The site was not hit in the June war.
The report added that “a blast mitigation feature” had been added to multiple buildings at the site and that construction is still taking place at the site.
It is unclear whether the site is being rebuilt for nuclear weapons development, the report said, but added, “it is deeply concerning that construction is occurring at a former [late 1990s-2003 crash nuclear weapons program, codenamed the] AMAD plan nuclear weapons development site, raising considerable questions as to the true purpose of the facilities there.”
[Rudaw] The Kurdish administration in northeast Syria (Rojava) and the new government in Damascus have yet to reach a final agreement to improve the situation in Afrin, a predominantly Kurdish city in northwest Syria where Kurds continue to be deprived of cultural rights.

There have been no developments in Afrin dossier," Fawzi Shingali, a member of Rojava’s ruling Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), told Rudaw.
Newroz, Kurdish new year, was recently excluded from Syria's national holidays. The move has taken the ire of Kurds, who make up over ten percent of the country’s population.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), military wing of the SDC, and the interim government have reached a number of agreements, but none has improved the situation in Afrin.
Sheikh Said Zade, a Kurd, was recently elected as a member of Syria’s interim parliament in an indirect election.
"After the liberation of Syria [from Assad], the education system became unified throughout Syria. The [new] curriculum from Damascus has been implemented even in what we used to call ’liberated areas.’ Kurdish language does not exist in the state curriculum. We emphasized on this [inclusion of Kurdish], but time is needed for it to be added to the state curriculum," he added.
Farhan Haq, the deputy spokesperson of the secretary-general of the United Nations ...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly... , said on Tuesday that they are aware of media reports about the removal of Kurdish language from school curriculum in Syria’s Afrin city.
"[T]he Secretary General strongly believes in the right of people everywhere in the world to speak the languages that they choose to speak and to learn all the different languages of those areas. So we want to make sure that the basic language rights of people are protected," he added.
[Rudaw] The Syrian interim government on Wednesday reopened the main road linking Aleppo’s Kurdish neighborhood of Ashrafieh to the rest of the city following the visit of a delegation from Damascus.
The Kurdish Internal Security Forces (Asayish), which controls the neighborhood, said on Wednesday that the reopening of the road, which was closed recently following renewed skirmishes between Asayish and state-affiliated forces, is “part of implementing the provisions of the signed agreements.”
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which includes Asayish, has signed two agreements with the transitional government in March and April regarding the status of Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsood, another Kurdish neighborhood in the city.
A delegation from Damascus visited the two neighborhoods on Tuesday.
“The visit aimed to follow up on the implementation of the agreement's terms and to strengthen cooperation and joint coordination,” said Asayish, referring to the April agreement, which focuses exclusively on the two neighborhoods.
As part of the agreement, Asayish and Damascus swapped hundreds of prisoners.

[Rudaw] French diplomatic sources told Rudaw on Thursday that they were "closely" following an ongoing crackdown by the Syrian interim government targeting foreign jihadists, particularly Frenchies, in Idlib, while declining to comment on allegations that Gay Paree was involved in the operation.
Asked about the alleged involvement of La Belle France in the operation, the sources declined to provide "further comments on an operation that falls under the internal security prerogatives of the transitional government."
"We have taken note of this operation and are following the situation closely," the French diplomatic sources told Rudaw.
Damascus authorities said Thursday they negotiated a ceasefire with the group of jihadists led by FrenchieOumar Diaby, also known as Omar Omsen, in northwestern Syria, according to sources, a day after the interim government said they had surrounded the ’French Camp’ in the town of Harem in western Idlib, sparking festivities.
The group is known as Firqatul Ghuraba in Arabic, or the Foreigners' Brigade, led by Diaby. The operation followed accusations that the group had kidnapped a girl. Diaby was accused to have sought to prevent troops entering the camp near the Ottoman Turkish border, which is home to tens of fighters.
The camp is reportedly a stronghold led by Omsen. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the operation aimed to extradite the French jihadist along with other "individuals wanted by La Belle France."
The Harem raid is part of a broader campaign across Idlib province targeting all known residences of foreign murderous Moslems in a sweeping search-and-extradition effort, the war monitor explained.
