[NYPOST] Paramount Skydance on Monday confirmed that it will acquire The Free Press in a $150 million deal — and elevate its founder, Bari Weiss, to the top role as editor in chief of CBS News.
Weiss, 41, will run a new, debate-style program at the Tiffany network, similar to the debates that the Free Press — her buzzy, contrarian news site — streams on topics ranging ''from immigration to the ethics of gene-editing embryos,'' according to the Wall Street Journal.
The news site is known for railing against ''woke'' ideology and has been a strong supporter of Israel, staking itself on values of ''honesty'' and ''independence'' after Weiss outspokenly broke away from mainstream media.

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... opinion writer will report directly to David Ellison, chief executive of Paramount Skydance, as The Post exclusively reported last week.
She will be paired with CBS News president Tom Cibrowski, a former ''Good Morning America'' exec, confirming The Post's earlier coverage.
While the new media company presented the pair as equals, their status is clear: While Weiss reports to Ellison, Cibrowski's manager is George Cheeks, chair of TV media at Paramount and Skydance.
''We believe the majority of the country longs for news that is balanced and fact-based, and we want CBS to be their home,'' Ellison said in a statement on Monday.

I don’t think I have watched a non-sports show on CBS in a decade or two, unless someone else had the remote. Can’t see changing now. I don’t shop for clothes at Goodwill. Once something is discarded, it’s gone.

[FoxNews] Embattled Virginia Democratic attorney general candidate Jay Jones denies saying more officer deaths would reduce police shootings
Jay Jones, Virginia’s embattled Democratic attorney general candidate, once allegedly suggested that if more police officers were killed, they would shoot fewer people, a former colleague in the state legislature said.
Republican Del. Carrie Coyner told Virginia Scope on Monday that during a 2020 conversation about qualified immunity, she told Jones that without the legal protection, police officers would get killed, the New York Post reported.
"Well, maybe if a few of them died, that they would move on, not shooting people, not killing people," Jones responded, according to Coyner.
Jones denied the new allegations.
"I did not say this. I have never believed and do not believe that any harm should come to law enforcement, period. Every single day, police officers put their lives on the line to protect our communities, and I am deeply grateful for their service and sacrifice. As Attorney General, I will work hand-in-hand with law enforcement to support their work," Jones told Virginia Scope.
Jones was already under fire after Coyner previously revealed 2022 text exchanges in which he suggested he would shoot then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert over Adolf Hitler. He also said Gilbert and his wife should have to watch his "fascist" children die.
At one point, Jones wrote, "Three people, two bullets. Gilbert, Hitler, and Pol Pot. Gilbert gets two bullets to the head."
The Fraternal Order of Police of Virginia sent a letter to Jones on Monday, calling for him to bow out of the Attorney General race immediately, while also condemning his 2022 text messages.
"The Virginia Fraternal Order of Police is aware of the recent text message scandal involving you, the Democrat candidate for Attorney General. While this incident may have occurred in 2022, this conduct has no place in our society or democracy, especially from an elected official who is running to be the top prosecutor in Virginia," the FOP wrote. "The men and women of the Virginia Fraternal Order unequivocally condemn these violent text messages sent by you about a political opponent and his family."
The FOP said it supports everyone’s right to "respectful and peaceful discussions" with politicians, though "calling for any type of violence is unacceptable."
"We have seen what this type of rhetoric has caused in other parts of the country. The men and women of law enforcement work tirelessly to combat the violence you wished on a fellow Virginian and his family," the FOP added. "Therefore, the members of the Virginia Fraternal Order of Police believe that you, Jay Jones, are unfit for the office of Attorney General of Virginia. It is time you hold yourself accountable for these actions and withdraw from the Attorney General race immediately."
Meanwhile, high-level Democrats have stopped short of calling for Jones to drop out of the race.

The Federal Aviation Authority on Monday warned air traffic control towers at Hollywood Burbank Airport would be unmanned until at least 10pm local time.
Newsom blamed the lack of staffing on the government shutdown and hammered Trump on X.
'Thanks, @realDonaldTrump! Burbank Airport has ZERO air traffic controllers from 4:15pm to 10pm today because of YOUR government shutdown,' the California governor wrote.
The White House, when asked for comment by The Daily Mail, sent an automatic reply putting responsibility for the shutdown on Democrats.
'Due to staff shortages resulting from the Democrat Shutdown, the typical 24/7 monitoring of this press inbox may experience delays,' it read.
'As you await a response, please remember this could have been avoided if the Democrats voted for the clean Continuing Resolution to keep the government open.'
Without on-site air traffic controllers, the airport's arrivals and departures will be managed by TRACON, a team working out of San Diego which already handles much of Burbank's traffic.

Closing smaller airports, Long Beach is probably next, is a smart FAA move. They are probably doing it across the nation right now. The only reason it is news is because Newsome has his panties wadded up with TDS.

Burbank is a much less chaotic airport than
LAX. No taxiing for 30-45 minutes. No lines for take off on the tarmac.
