McLaughlin said that a host of measures are under consideration, including increased government scrutiny of so-called “ICE tracking apps,” which allow users to share locations of immigration enforcement activity in real time.
According to McLaughlin, while such apps might currently be legal, they are “being used by gangs, suspected terrorists, and others to evade law enforcement and even target officers.”
She said the Department of Justice might consider whether the apps and other tracking tools amount to obstruction of justice.
"I think it's looking like obstruction of justice, and that's exactly what's happening. We hear this huge debate in this country about why these individuals, why are law enforcement wearing masks? Well, it's exactly this reason," she said.
She added that there has been a 1,000% increase in assaults against ICE officers.

She added that examining the tax-exempt status of nonprofits accused of facilitating such activity is on the table.
These efforts could hit some roadblocks, given that civil rights groups have long argued that ICE tracking tools provide vulnerable communities with important information, while federal officials maintain these platforms put law enforcement personnel in danger.
McLaughlin stressed that the government plans to “follow the money” behind coordinated protests and other activities that obstruct ICE operations.
“We need to end it right now before there’s more bloodshed,” she said.

Lavrov also recalled that a number of Western countries had recently announced their recognition of the State of Palestine. He questioned why these countries had waited so long.
"Apparently, they hoped that soon there would be nothing left to recognize. <…> The situation requires urgent action to prevent such a scenario, which the participants of the high-level international conference on the question of Palestine firmly supported," the Russian Foreign Minister added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously recalled that the UN Security Council resolution mandates the creation of two states in the Middle East: Palestine and Israel. He noted that Russia has always acted on the principle that this decision must be implemented.

I’m not an international law lawyer or anything, but it seems to me that using civilians as human shields is a war crime. The onus is on Hamas to protect them. However, they use hospitals, mosques, schools and homes as bases, armories, and offices.

I disagree with Petro’s message trying to incite an insurrection among the rank and file of our military. He can save that message for the generals and admirals.
I am intrigued about his statement about moving the UN out of NYC, but i’ld like to see more on his part. Have him firm up a proposal and email it to Rubio as he is not returning to our country unless Harris, AOC or Buttigieg ends up in the White House at some point. Other than for a tour, I would put long odds against any of that happening before Petro’s remains are fertilizing a mango grove.

[Rudaw] Around 6,000 people, mostly youth, have migrated from the Kurdistan Region to Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... since the beginning of 2025 in search of a better life, a refugee advocacy group told Rudaw on Sunday, with the majority of them from the Region’s eastern Sulamani province.
"The majority of the migrants colonists are from [Sulaimani’s] Raparin Independent Administration, followed by the administrations of Garmiyan, Zakho and Soran," said Bakir Ali, head of the Association of Returned Migrants (ARR).
The Kurdistan Region has seen repeated waves of youth migration over the past decade, largely driven by economic hardship and the search for better opportunities abroad.
Ali noted that there is a significantly lower number of migrants colonists from the Region’s major cities - Erbil, Duhok, and Sulaimani - where employment prospects are higher.
"Unemployment in [rural] districts and subdistricts is the main driver of migration," the head of the ARR said.
Asked about how they track migration numbers, Ali said the ARR has "representatives in Greece, Italia, and La Belle France." It also receives data from smugglers based in "Tunisia, Libya, and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... who update us about how many Kurds [from the Region] move to Europe via sea routes."
He noted that three to four Kurds have died en route to Europe since the beginning of this year alone.
Part of the migrants colonists intercepted by Libyan, Tunisian and Ottoman Turkish coastguards are deported back to the Kurdistan Region. However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning... they once again trek the perilous journey because "they are not refunded [by their smugglers], so they try again."
A rising number of Kurdish youth have in recent months been opting for the Libya-Italia sea route to reach Europe. The dangerous path has become increasingly popular due to tighter border restrictions and longer wait times along the traditional Turkey-Greece route.

The proposal starts with Hamas freeing all the hostages within 48 hours — which I cannot imagine them doing — and ends with an independent Palestinian state; but one of the interim steps is reform of the Palestinian Authority, so that won’t happen either, even after President Mahmoud Abbas shuffles off this mortal coil.
Still, events will make it clear it isn’t Israel preventing Palestinian sovereignty, but the Palestinians once again walking away from it in favour of the chance to kill more Jews.

The National Cyber Directorate said Saturday it was investigating multiple reports from Israelis who received calls with recorded Hebrew messages trying to recruit, threaten and intimidate them.
According to the Ynet news site, one of the recordings claimed to be from Iranian intelligence, looking to recruit agents.
"Iranian intelligence is looking for official agents — competitive salary, comprehensive security. Find us on Telegram and the internet," one of the recordings said, as quoted by Ynet.
An unnamed man told the outlet that he and his wife received a call in which they were offered financial payment if they were to enlist as an agent for Iran.
The cyber directorate warned people not to answer calls from numbers that began 03-6817 and 03-3067, and to disconnect immediately if answered inadvertently.
However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome... the National Cyber Directorate emphasized that simply answering the call would not damage the phone.
Police said that people who received the calls should immediately block the number and report it to law enforcement authorities.
Dozens of cases have come to light over the past two years in which Iranian agents have successfully recruited Israelis into espionage schemes via social media, specifically the Telegram messaging app. Most of the accused spies start out with innocuous tasks that gradually grow into more serious offenses, like intelligence gathering and liquidation plots.
The growing number of Iranian agents has even prompted Israel to open up a new wing for them in Haifa’s Damon prison.
The operatives are usually ordinary civilians contacted by Iranian intelligence officers online. The effort appears to be part of a mass recruitment scheme by Tehran to gather intelligence on Israel’s alleged nuclear and military sites, as well as key Israeli figures such as defense officials and top scientists.

The coalition was created in response to the acute and unprecedented financial crisis facing the Palestinian Authority, according to the communiqué. Its primary goal is to stabilize the Palestinian Authority's finances and maintain its ability to govern, provide vital services, and maintain security.
The coalition countries also demanded that Israel immediately unblock all Palestinian customs revenues and cease any actions that hinder or weaken the Palestinian Authority or threaten its existence.
According to Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa, donors have pledged at least $170 million to finance the Palestinian National Authority. Saudi Arabia, in particular, will provide the coalition with $90 million, according to Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
Since September 21, the authorities of Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Portugal, France, Monaco, Luxembourg, and Malta have recognized Palestinian statehood. The leaders of these countries have declared their commitment to a conflict resolution based on political recognition of both states.
On September 22, unrest erupted in Italy after Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni rejected Italy's recognition of Palestine. Thousands of protesters calling for solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza took to the streets, some storming Milan's central train station and clashing with police.
Speaking to the UN General Assembly on September 23, US President Donald Trump stated that recognizing Palestine by other states would only fuel the conflict in the Gaza Strip. He said it would be too great a reward for Hamas terrorists for their atrocities.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) on Thursday quoted Celine Schmitt, the spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), as announcing that "one million Syrians have returned to their country since December 8, calling on the international community to scale up its support for Syrians and help the country rebuild."
In addition to those returning from overseas, "another 1.8 million people who were displaced inside the country have also returned to their areas of origin," Schmitt said.
Following a swift offensive in early December, a coalition of opposition groups led by the now dissolved Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else ...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State... (HTS) - then led by Ahmed al-Sharaa - toppled the Assad regime.
Sharaa was appointed interim president in late January. Since then the interim authorities have been actively campaigning for the return of millions of refugees and internally displaced persons to the "new Syria."
The Syrian interim president on Wednesday addressed world leaders at the 80th meeting of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), noting that the Assad regime "killed around one million [Syrians], destroyed about two million homes ... and displaced around 14 million people."
"Syria today is rebuilding itself through establishing a new state, building institutions and laws that guarantee the rights of all without exception," Sharaa said, urging continued support from the international community in that regard.
According to the UNHCR, some seven million Syrians are still displaced inside the country and more than 4.5 million have sought refuge abroad.
Schmitt on Thursday noted that "UNHCR continues working with the Syrian authorities and other UN agencies, to create conditions conducive for return and reintegration in areas severely affected by the decade-long conflict."
She pointed to "destroyed homes and infrastructure" as a major hindrance to the return of refugees and IDPs, lamenting that "only 30 per cent of the requested funds" for relief "have been provided."
Schmitt's remarks notably coincided with those of UN Refugee Chief Filippo Grandi who described the developments in Syria since December 8 as an "opportunity to resolve one of the largest displacement crises in the world."
Grandi urged the international community, private sector, and Syrians abroad to intensify efforts to support Syria’s, according to a statement on the UNHCR’s official website.
"We must not forget about the millions of Syrians who are still refugees hosted in neighboring countries" who have suffered in the past 14 years and still need protection and assistance, " Grandi stressed.
[Rudaw] A senior aid official has warned of widespread sexual abuse of boys in Syria’s al-Hol camp, saying women are exploiting minors to bear children and continue the ideology of the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. Dr. Lilla Schumicky-Logan, deputy executive director of the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF), described the situation as "extremely critical, extremely dire" after visiting the camp in the Kurdish region of northeastern Syria (Rojava) last month.
Based in Geneva, GCERF is an international foundation that works with governments and communities to prevent violent mostly peaceful extremism.
"Now what happens [is] that a lot of young boys are being misused by the women who are there to get them pregnant, and to continue with the line of the caliphate," she told Rudaw on Friday, referring to the camp in northeastern Syria, where tens of thousands of women and kiddies are housed.
"There are a lot of pregnant women. There are a lot of babies. And these young boys of 12, 13, 14, 15 are being sexually abused in order to maintain the line of the caliphates. This is the biggest child abuse that one can imagine."
Al-Hol holds about 6,500 foreigners from 42 nations alongside tens of thousands of Syrians and Iraqis.
Schumicky-Logan said she was shocked to find young children in the camp when "there are supposed to be only women and kiddies, there are supposed to be no babies. However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened... we have seen a lot of very young children."
The camp is guarded by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who she said are "doing their best" but face criticism and dwindling resources.
At one time, the SDF removed adolescent boys from their mothers, but Schumicky-Logan noted they "have been very harshly criticized by the international community that this is against child rights. Now they have no more resources... so now they are leaving these young boys in the camp. And the whole day they are just hanging around plotting things."
She described increasing violence: "Just a couple of days before we went there, the boys in the foreign section have burned down three international NGO facilities. When we were there, we could not enter... young boys, as soon as they saw us, they picked up the stone. They were showing us signs like, we’re gonna cut your throat. There is a clear desperation."
Some women, however, expressed regret. "They want to go back home even without the children. They want to send their children home... and they are ready to face justice," Schumicky-Logan said, adding that after her visit, her organization received over 20 emails from women pleading for their children to be returned.
She criticized countries unwilling to repatriate their nationals, calling it "a political decision" that comes at the expense of children’s lives. "The life of children should not be a political decision. Children have to go home," she said.
Schumicky-Logan issued three urgent recommendations to address the crisis:
"Make all efforts to return the children as soon as possible."
"Continue with advocacy efforts inside the camp to convince those people who are not yet convinced to be returning."
"Provide resources to the Kurdish authorities to keep the people at bay and have some level of a decent environment until they go home."
She pointed to Iraq as an example, noting it has repatriated over thousands of its citizens. "As soon as the government put its mind to it, they have done it. Central Asian countries are repatriating hundreds and thousands... so it’s a call to get those other kids back as well," she said.
The United States on Friday announced that it was setting up an international cell to facilitate repatriation of foreigners from al-Hol.

Britannia, La Belle France and Germany triggered the return of sanctions on Iran at the UN Security Council over accusations the country has violated a 2015 deal that aimed to stop it from developing a nuclear bomb.
Iran denies seeking nuclear weapons, but has been enriching uranium to levels that have no peaceful application, barring UN nuclear inspectors, and regularly threatening to flatten Israeli cities.
The end of the decade-long nuclear deal originally agreed by Iran, Britannia, Germany, La Belle France, the United States, Russia and China is likely to exacerbate tensions in the Middle East, just months after Israel and the US bombed Iranian nuclear sites.
UN sanctions imposed by the Security Council in resolutions adopted between 2006 and 2010 were reinstated at 0000 GMT (3 a.m. Israel time, 8 p.m. EDT). Attempts to delay the return of all sanctions on Iran failed on the sidelines of the annual gathering of world leaders at the UN this week.
"We urge Iran and all states to abide fully by these resolutions," the foreign ministers of La Belle France, Britannia and Germany said in a joint statement after the deadline passed.
Tehran has warned of a harsh response. But Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Friday that Iran had no intention of leaving the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Iran said on Saturday it was recalling its ambassadors to Britannia, La Belle France and Germany for consultations.
Russia has disputed the return of UN sanctions on Iran.
"It is unlawful, and it cannot be implemented," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told news hounds at the UN earlier on Saturday, adding that he had written to UN Secretary-General António Guterres ...Portuguese politician and diplomat, ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations. Previously, he was the UN High Commissioner for Refugees between 2005 and 2015. He was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002 and was the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party from 1992 to 2002. He served as President of the Socialist International from 1999 to 2005. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years... warning that it would be "a major mistake" for him to acknowledge a return of UN sanctions on Iran.
The UN Security Council website was swiftly updated to reflect the return to sanctions.
DIPLOMACY STILL AN OPTION
The European powers had offered to delay reinstating sanctions for up to six months to allow space for talks on a long-term deal if Iran restored access for UN nuclear inspectors, addressed concerns about its stock of enriched uranium, and engaged in talks with the United States.
"Our countries will continue to pursue diplomatic routes and negotiations. The reimposition of UN sanctions is not the end of diplomacy," the foreign ministers of Britannia, La Belle France and Germany said. "We urge Iran to refrain from any escalatory action and to return to compliance with its legally binding safeguards obligations."

"For that to happen, Iran must accept direct talks, held in good faith, without stalling or obfuscation," he said, stressing that until there was a new deal, it was important that countries implemented sanctions "immediately in order to pressure Iran’s leaders to do what is right for their nation, and best for the safety of the world."
Iran’s economy is already struggling with crippling US sanctions reimposed since 2018 after Trump ditched the pact during his first term.
Iran’s rial currency continued to decline over fears of new sanctions. The rial fell to 1,123,000 per US dollar, a new record low, on Saturday, from about 1,085,000 on Friday, according to foreign exchange websites, including Bon-bast.com.
With the return of UN sanctions, Iran will again be subjected to an arms embargo and a ban on all uranium enrichment and reprocessing activities and any activity related to ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches.
Other sanctions to be reimposed include a travel ban on dozens of Iranian individuals, an asset freeze on dozens of Iranian individuals and entities and a ban on the supply of anything that could be used in Iran’s nuclear program.
All countries are authorized to seize and dispose of any items banned under UN sanctions and Iran will be prohibited from acquiring an interest in any commercial activity in another country involving uranium mining, production or use of nuclear materials and technology.
