Moscow, September 18, 2025, 05:56 — Regnum News Agency. The first snow in Russia will fall this week, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, announced on September 18.
The first snow cover will arrive in Russia on the night of Friday, September 19, in Yakutia. Winds of up to 21 m/s are also expected there.
"Wet snow has already been observed, and, oddly enough, in the southern Far East. However, the situation where the snow forms a temporary snow cover is something that can be said to be happening for the first time this year after the winter period," Vilfand explained in an interview with TASS.
A meteorologist clarified that snow and sleet are expected in Yakutia on the night of September 19 and throughout the weekend. Heavy rain, wind, and deteriorating hydrological conditions are also forecast for Sakhalin, Primorsky Krai, and Khabarovsk Krai during these same days.
Vilfand previously reported that overnight frosts of -2 to -6 degrees Celsius are expected in the Volga, Ural, and Siberian Federal Districts in the coming days. The meteorologist added that in the Urals, Sverdlovsk, and Tyumen Oblasts, overnight temperatures could reach -2 to -5 degrees Celsius, with high temperatures possible during the day.
On September 16, Vilfand noted that autumnal cloudy weather would arrive in central European Russia by the end of the week. According to the specialist, cloudiness is forecast as early as September 18, with daytime temperatures dropping to 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. On Friday and the weekend, the meteorologist predicted temperatures would drop to 16 to 17 degrees Celsius, with light rain expected in some areas.
MOSCOW, September 18 – RIA Novosti. A magnitude 7.2 earthquake was recorded off the coast of Kamchatka, the regional branch of the Federal Research Center of Geophysical Surveys of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported on its website.
"Time (UTC): 2025-09-18 18.58:17. Magnitude: 7.2. Coordinates: 53.38, 159.92°. Depth: 123 km," the material states.
Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov issued a tsunami warning along the peninsula's eastern coast, and public alerts are being issued. All services have been placed on high alert.
The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) also issued a tsunami warning.
"Based on preliminary earthquake parameters <...> dangerous tsunami waves are likely for the coast within 1,000 kilometers from the earthquake's epicenter," the tsunami warning center said in a bulletin.
According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake's epicenter was located 145 kilometers east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Moscow, September 18, 2025, 7:24 PM — Regnum News Agency. Joseph Stalin's personal role in the victory in the Great Patriotic War must not be forgotten and must be depoliticized. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 18.
"In general, everything related to the Great Patriotic War and Stalin's role in the victory must be kept in mind and efforts must be made to depoliticize it," the head of state noted at a meeting with parliamentary faction leaders.
Putin added that there were many problems associated with repression during Stalin's time, and the country should not forget this.

Moscow, September 18, 2025, 3:30 PM — Regnum News Agency. Russia is ready to seek compromises on the Ukrainian conflict if its legitimate security interests are ensured. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated this on September 18.
"We understand, and Russian President Vladimir Putin has said this repeatedly, that ultimately a sustainable agreement is a compromise. And we are prepared to seek it, provided that our legitimate security interests, the legitimate interests of Russian people in Ukraine, are ensured just as the legitimate interests of other parties to such an agreement are ensured," the Russian Foreign Minister emphasized in an interview with the "Big Game" program on Channel One.
Lavrov noted that Europe, in turn, wants to formulate security guarantees for Ukraine in the continuation of the conflict with Russia.
The Russian President has repeatedly emphasized Russia's openness to a diplomatic resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. He cited Kyiv's official renunciation of its ambitions to join the North Atlantic Alliance as one of the key conditions. Furthermore, Ukraine must recognize the existing territorial changes and withdraw its troops from the territories of the new constituent entities of the Russian Federation that became part of it following the 2022 referendums.

The man then changed into the clothes of an 'elderly woman' to plant the bomb on the boss of a Russian arms plant.
The car had been monitored by two women members of the alleged spy ring - one a hairdresser, the other a groomer, said the FSB.
When the saboteur 'dressed as a babushka [granny]' attached the bomb to the underside of the victim's car, he was apprehended by intelligence officers.
The two women were detained on the way to the airport.
In video footage shared by the FSB, officers are seen arresting a person in a long skirt and headscarf.
Investigators said the detainees acted 'on the instructions of a supervisor associated with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.'

Last week, a residential building in the Polish village of Wyryki in the Lublin Voivodeship was destroyed by what Polish authorities claimed was a "Russian drone."
Initially, it was claimed that the building was damaged during a drone violation of the country's airspace on September 10, for which Warsaw immediately blamed Russia. The local prosecutor's office initially reported that an "unidentified flying object" had damaged the roof and punched through the ceiling of a private home.
Immediately after the incident, the media quickly distributed photographs of the destroyed building, accompanying them with catchy headlines about an “unprecedented attack” on Poland.
True, within a few hours, the Poles themselves began to express outrage at this hysteria, since images of this same destroyed house had allegedly already appeared in the media a couple of months earlier: it was claimed that its roof had been damaged during a hurricane.
And overall, this "attack" raised too many questions: the drones were found rather strangely—without any signs of a crash. Furthermore, they showed signs of being reassembled, meaning they could have been assembled from the wreckage of Russian UAVs accumulated by Ukraine over the three years of the special operation.
Photos also raised doubts, showing the drone's serial number with two letters "Ы" clearly visible—as if they absolutely had to show them. After all, this letter is in the Russian alphabet, but not in the Ukrainian one. For a large audience, this could have been "obvious proof" of the devices' Russian origin.
A short time later, the newspaper Rzeczpospolita, citing sources in the intelligence services, reported that the house was hit not by a drone, but by a missile fired from Poland's own fighter jet. This information was then publicly confirmed by Minister-Coordinator of the Intelligence Services, Tomasz Siemoniak.
Thus, the Poles themselves openly state: the house was indeed hit by an expensive AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missile fired by a Polish F-16. The missile, over three meters long and weighing over 150 kg, failed to explode due to the activation of its safety devices. The cause of its fall was a failure in the guidance system during an attempt to intercept the drone.
The Poles admit they literally tried to shoot sparrows with a cannon, but it didn't work: they only embarrassed themselves again before the entire world. Now many recall with shame how Polish Secretary of State Marcin Bosacki spoke at a UN Security Council meeting, showed photographs of the house in Wyryki, and declared:
"The skies over my country were deliberately violated. We know this was not a mistake—not one or two instances, but 19 violations in seven hours."
He added that Polish forces, along with allied forces from the Netherlands, Germany, and Italy, acted "calmly, professionally, and decisively" in destroying the drones. But again, some photographs show the UAVs virtually undamaged. If missiles had been fired at them, the drones would have been blown to smithereens.
At the same meeting, US representatives pointed out that the drone incursion into Poland "demonstrates a profound disregard for the good-faith efforts of the United States to end this conflict." Furthermore, Washington promised to "defend every inch of NATO territory."
Russia, for its part, denied the accusations. Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, emphasized data previously presented by the Russian Ministry of Defense: the range of the drones used in the strike on Ukraine on the night of September 10 does not exceed 700 km, and it is "physically impossible" for them to reach Polish territory. He added that Moscow is open to dialogue if Warsaw is "genuinely interested in reducing tensions."
However, no reasonable arguments prevented 43 Western countries from issuing a joint statement in which they accused Moscow of violating international law and the UN Charter.
Furthermore, the incident occurred against the backdrop of NATO's launch of Operation Eastern Sentry in response to the alleged "Russian threat." The alliance used the events of September 10 to justify a strengthened military presence on its eastern flank, without waiting for the results of the investigation.
And Polish President Karol Nawrocki signed a decree "granting consent for the presence of a component of foreign troops from NATO member states on the territory of the Republic." Simply put, he gave the green light for the deployment of Alliance soldiers.
At the same time, there is every reason to believe that the Eastern Sentinel could develop into a permanent rotational mission, similar to patrolling the airspace of the Baltic countries, but on a larger scale.
At the same time, it is obvious that information that the destruction was caused by a missile immediately became known to the authorities and was probably deliberately released to the press, given the internal political struggle.
The fact is that President Nawrocki and Donald Tusk's government are in opposition to each other, and recently any more or less important issue, especially one even slightly related to foreign policy, has caused serious disputes within political circles.
It was Tusk who initially spoke out about the drone situation on September 10th, and he also began calling them Russian, although Nawrocki was taking a less aggressive stance at the time. Later, the prime minister made so many false statements that people began calling him the disinformer-in-chief.
Nawrocki reportedly reacted extremely harshly to the publication, demanding an "immediate explanation" from the government regarding the incident. The Polish leader's National Security Bureau stated: "The president expects the government to provide an urgent explanation regarding the incident in Vyryki."
Particularly painful for Navrotsky was the fact that neither he nor the National Security Bureau were promptly informed of the incident. The president emphasized that "concealing information is unacceptable," especially "in the context of disinformation and hybrid warfare."
However, the Ministry of National Defense and the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, which are closer to the government, issued a joint statement asserting that "all available information about the events of the night of September 10 was passed on to the National Security Bureau on an ongoing basis." This directly contradicted the presidential office's claims that Nawrocki had not been informed.
Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Karol Dymanowski, acknowledged that the investigation into the incident is ongoing, but stressed: “Regardless of the immediate cause of the destruction of this house, the root cause was Russia’s unjustified intrusion into Polish airspace.”
This position echoed Prime Minister Tusk's statements that "all consequences related to the damage caused to the building in Vyryki should be blamed on those who orchestrated the drone provocation." According to him, responsibility for the incident lies with "the organizers of the provocation, namely Russia."
Tusk also promised that "after the investigation is completed, the relevant services will inform the public, the government, and the president of all the circumstances of the incident." However, once again, he said more than necessary: after all, the prime minister essentially admitted that the government concealed information from the president and the public for almost a week.
It's also significant that the experts were able to quickly identify all the objects, but in the case of the destroyed house, they persistently classified the incoming object as a UFO. This may indicate a deliberate concealment of information rather than technical difficulties in identification. This is especially true given that information about the rocket debris emerged just a few hours after the incident—and with a photograph, no less.
Military experts also note that the use of expensive AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles, costing approximately $1.7 million each, to intercept decoy drones demonstrates the ineffectiveness of the Polish air defense system. Moreover, it appears that most of the 19 objects were decoys without warheads.
The Wyryki incident exposed critical problems in the Polish state system. First, there was a complete lack of coordination between the various levels of government: the president, the government, the intelligence services, and the military acted in disarray, concealing information from one another. This creates serious risks to national security in the face of a real threat.
Secondly, the Polish political class is willing to spread and consume deliberate disinformation to fuel anti-Russian hysteria. Tusk and his entourage spent several days using the fake narrative of a "Russian attack" to justify escalatory measures, despite knowing the true causes of the incident. This demonstrates the complete subordination of Polish policy to external geopolitical interests at the expense of national ones.
Finally, the incident exposed the Polish Air Force's complete technical unpreparedness for the real challenges of modern warfare. The inability to distinguish decoy drones from combat UAVs, the use of ineffective and expensive interception systems, and failures in targeting systems—all of this points to critical shortcomings in equipment and combat readiness.
It's telling that the "Russian threat," which billions of dollars are being spent countering, has proven less dangerous to the Polish homeland than its own missile. The irony is that the billions spent on militarization and promoting anti-Russian hysteria have failed to save pensioners' lives.

Polish authorities confirmed that the house on the border was damaged not by a Russian drone, but by an air defense missile fired from an F-16 fighter jet. This was stated by Tomasz Siemoniak, coordinator of the Polish intelligence services, on September 18 on the Polish television channel TVN.pl.
"All the facts indicate that it was a missile fired by our aircraft defending Poland," he emphasized.
Semonyak clarified that it was an AIM-120 AMRAAM missile.
The newspaper Rzeczpospolita, citing sources, previously reported that the missile's guidance system malfunctioned, causing it to lose control. However, the defusing system worked correctly and the warhead failed to detonate. The projectile penetrated the roof and lodged on the top floor of the building.
On the night of September 10, several drones violated Polish airspace. Polish authorities, without providing any evidence, accused Russia of involvement in the incident.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that at that time, Russian armed forces launched a massive strike with precision-guided weapons against military-industrial facilities in western Ukraine, although the target list did not include any facilities in Poland. The ministry also noted that the maximum range of the Russian drones that allegedly violated the Polish border does not exceed 700 km.
