[PBS] U.K. fires ambassador to the U.S. Peter Mandelson after publication of supportive emails to Jeffrey Epstein
U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday fired the country's ambassador to the United States, Peter Mandelson, over his links to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In a statement in the House of Commons on Thursday, Foreign Office minister Stephen Doughty said the decision came in the wake of the publication this week of emails Mandelson sent to Epstein in the 2000s, in which he gave his support to the disgraced financier even when he was facing jail for sex offenses.
Downing Street was on Sunday night scrambling to protect Keir Starmer as it emerged No 10 was aware of the fatal allegation against Lord Mandelson days before he was sacked.
The Daily Mail understands that No 10 knew at the start of last week that the Labour grandee had suggested paedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s first conviction was wrongful and should be challenged.

I agree with Mandleson that Jefferey Epstein’s first conviction was total BS. He should have been convicted of much severer crimes and many more people should have been convicted as well. And that’s just the first case. Let’s see some Johns get some accountability.

[IsraelTimes] New York Governor Kathy Hochul endorses New York Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani for mayor, in a major boost for the harsh US critic of Israel.
Hochul is a moderate Democrat and a firm supporter of Israel, while Mamdani is on the far left and has made harsh criticism of Israel central to his politics.
Mamdani won the Democratic party mayoral primary earlier this year, making him the heavy favorite in November’s general election.
His leading opponent in the general election is former governor Andrew Sonny Cuomo, another pro-Israel moderate and Hochul’s predecessor. Mamdani defeated Cuomo in the primary.
Hochul, announcing her endorsement in The New York Times
...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... , says she has been speaking with Mamdani for months, including about Jewish issues.
"We discussed the need to combat the rise of antisemitism urgently and unequivocally," Hochul says. "I’ve been glad to see him meet with Jewish leaders across the city, listening and addressing their concerns directly. I look forward to working together to make sure New Yorkers of all faiths feel safe and welcome in New York City."
Mamdani’s Jewish allies are mainly far-left Israel critics.
Mamdani is divisive ...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled... among Jewish voters. He was the leading candidate among Jews in the four-way race, with around 37% support, according to a July poll by the pro-Israel New York Solidarity Network. That figure is similar to his support among the non-Jewish population.
While 60% of Jews were opposed to Mamdani, their support was divided among the other mayoral candidates.
Slightly more than half of the city’s Jews believe Mamdani is antisemitic, and 58% believe the city will be less safe for Jews if Mamdani is elected, the poll found.
Hochul’s endorsement is a major win for Mamdani because she is a moderate Democratic Party veteran whose backing will likely assuage voters who are concerned about the upstart Mamdani’s far-left politics and policy proposals.

It is hard to characterize Dems uniformly. They come in many flavors. The Dem party is like a Whitman’s chocolate box of different corruptions, stupidity and evil.

Hochul's endorsement in the NYT (I decline to provide a link on religious grounds) is framed in terms of opposition to Trump:
“And in light of the abhorrent and destructive policies coming out of Washington every day, I needed to know the next mayor will not be someone who would surrender one inch to President Trump.”
If you substitute "Lincoln" for "Trump" in that quote you've got my state's position in 1861, and everybody got all bent out of shape about it. But it's different when they do it.

What happens then?
Housing prices drop in a number of boroughs, tax receipts drop even more as the big money makes one of their other properties their primary residence. Real estate agents were reporting a large uptick in inquiries following Mr. Mamdani’s win in the Democratic primary, which will only accelerate.

There are Jewish populations in most large cities. Michigan and Minneapolis are probably not going to see an uptick in Jewish population.

Berry, who sat on the charity's advisory board, was terminated immediately.
''The Joe Burrow Foundation was founded on the belief that everybody has the responsibility to do good.
We have terminated an advisory board member who made inappropriate remarks in light of recent events, and they are no longer associated with the Foundation.
Their comments do not reflect our values or our mission. We are committed to accountability and respect for all.''
The firing underscores the seriousness of the backlash, as Berry is not just a board member; he is a sitting Ohio judge.
The teacher also suggested that Kirk deserved to be killed, and gave the young students a speech about anti-fascism fasces -- thin reeds, each flimsy in itself but unbreakable when bound into a bundle. Its distinguishing philosophical feature is the Corporate State. The word is nowadays thrown around by all sorts of people who have no idea what they're talking about... and transgender issues, according to a report.
"Several students from his class went home and complained to their parents, traumatized at witnessing the on-camera death, which they were forced to witness numerous times over," a source told the Toronto Sun after the shocking incident at a school in Toronto on Thursday.
"Parents subsequently reached out to school administrators, who will be putting him on leave at the start of the school day September 12th 2025."
The source added: "While playing this video repeatedly, he gave a speech to his students regarding anti-fascism, anti-trans, and how Charlie Kirk deserved for this to occur."
A letter was sent home on Friday to all students affected by the showing of the video, calling the teacher’s alleged behavior "extremely troubling and completely disturbing," the Toronto Sun reports.
''While an investigation must still be conducted to learn all of the details, the report of this incident is extremely troubling and completely unacceptable,'' the letter continued.
''We recognize the seriousness of this matter and have taken immediate steps to follow all appropriate policies and procedures,'' Koptie wrote.
''The teacher has been relieved of all teaching responsibilities pending the outcome of the investigation and will not be at the school,'' the letter continued. Assistance is being offered to any children traumatized by the incident, Koptie said.

Lexi Kuenzle, a nurse at Englewood Health, filed a lawsuit Friday in Bergen County Superior County Court against the hospital, Dr. Matthew Jung and others claiming she was wrongly fired for calling out the doctor's vile act on her personal Instagram account.
''[Kuenzle] had the audacity to question how Dr. Jung can comply with the Hippocratic Oath's and the American Medical Association's Code of Medical Ethics while celebrating the murder of a non-violent mostly peaceful Christian speaker who was on a college campus,'' the suit says.
Kuenzle was in front of a nurse's station with eight other nurses, and a patient in a stretcher, when the news of Kirk's death broke.
''Oh, my God! That's terrible! I love him!'' Kuenzle said, before Jung shot back.
''I hate Charlie Kirk. He had it coming. He deserved it,'' the bariatric surgeon allegedly said.
''You're a doctor. How could you say someone deserved to die?'' Kuenzie recalled replying.
''It was mind-blowing to me,'' the 33-year-old Hoboken resident told The Post Saturday. ''I was so angry and upset.''
Kuenzle said she reported Wednesday's incident to management immediately and then posted about it on social media when she got home.
The following day she was pulled into a meeting with hospital brass and suspended without pay pending a probe, the nurse claimed. A union rep also suggested she start looking for another job.
Kuenzle, an avid conservative whose Instagram photos include her posing in a bikini holding an American flag and a large cardboard figure of President Trump, has been a nurse for 10 years, including nearly two at Englewood Health.
It was unclear Saturday whether Jung had been disciplined for his remarks.
The doctor did offer to "buy lunch" for the nurses who heard his rant, but if Jung "were to follow through on his "mocking" offer "it would not have included plaintiff because she had been suspended without pay," according to the lawsuit.

State Representative and attorney Adam Mathews today called for the immediate resignation of Judge Ted Berry following a series of public comments on social media about the tragic death of Charlie Kirk. The statements, which celebrated the death with vitriolic, racially charged, and political language, represent a serious violation of the ethical standards required of every judge in Ohio.
"A judge must be a pillar of fairness and impartiality in our community," said Rep. Mathews. "To see a sitting judge post comments like 'Rest in Hatred & Division!', ask 'How's he feel about gun violence & gun control in Hell, now?', and then celebrate the race of the killer by stating 'So, a white guy killed him! Color it KARMA!' is shocking and completely unacceptable. This is not the conduct of a neutral arbiter of the law; it is the behavior of a political activist who has abandoned the core principles of his office."

{¶ 1} Respondent, Judge Theodore Newton Berry, of Cincinnati, Ohio,
Attorney Registration No. 0042025, was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio in
1989. Berry has been a judge of the Hamilton County Municipal Court since 2006.
{¶ 2} In March 2021, relator, disciplinary counsel, charged Berry with
violating the Code of Judicial Conduct for sending inappropriate Facebook
messages and videos to a court employee. Berry stipulated to the charged
misconduct, and the parties jointly recommended that he be publicly reprimanded
for his behavior. After a hearing, a three-member panel of the board found that
Berry had engaged in the stipulated misconduct, agreed that he should be publicly
reprimanded, and recommended that he also complete sexual-harassment
prevention training. The board issued a report adopting the panel’s finding of
misconduct but recommending that we impose a conditionally stayed six-month
suspension. Neither party has objected to the board’s report and recommendation.

{¶ 3} Based on our review of the record, we adopt the board’s finding of
misconduct and recommended sanction.
Berry isn’t the only Hamilton County official facing backlash after making controversial comments on Kirk’s death.
Chief assistant prosecuting attorney Ryan Nelson posted a comment, saying, “The man essentially gave us all permission to shrug at his death… 0/10 will not be missed.”
The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office said it is aware of the comments, but that it will not comment on internal issues.

I am usually a big fan of accountability but less so with respect to getting all the leftists fired over Charlie Kirk comments. I am willing to make an exception for judges and others that hold public office, but I would just as soon private citizens be left alone. Charlie was trying to reach those indoctrinated folks to rescue them for Christ. That was his entire mission. Obviously, some folks aren’t currently ready for rescue, but revenge firing seems like poor Christian outreach. The idea is to leave the flock of 99 and try to find and return the one to the flock. Spraying a hail of fire in the direction of the lost sheep is not what Charlie is about.

Unfortunately, those lost sheep will have no interest in returning so long as all they see is societal approval for their beliefs and behaviours, Super Hose. At the same time, their side has been gleefully destroying lives for things like debanking, questioning the Covid lockdown and being in the Capitol Building on January 6. This is game theory stuff: Tit For Tat does not work when the other side always defects from cooperation.
For those uncomfortable with communists being fired, please understand this is as NICE as the Right will be from now on. You can see it in incidents like this. This has happened many times in the past few days. Previously, nobody would have touched this animal.
In the thread is a comment that roughly says that anyone who publicly cheers the assassination of a political opponent should not be in a position of working with children, in healthcare, and so forth. This is protecting the vulnerable from the mentally unhinged and morally depraved who have outed themselves.

I strongly disagree with #4 Super Hose. I could never feel safe around anyone that cheers the death of a peaceful US citizen whether or not I agree with the ideology of the murdered.

Certainly, depriving a teacher of a position that they are using to warp children is justified. I have no problem with employers making business decisions as well. My gripe is that the mob hounding of people seems to be counter to the work Charlie was doing. There needs to be some type of reengagement with the young people that have been indoctrinated. Charlie would be leading that effort right now. Perhaps he is.

Some unknown large percent of them think the way they do merely because it is fashionable. Make it visibly painful, and they will either pivot to a new unthinking fashion or start to think.
Like illegal colonists, we do not have to hit everyone, but rather loudly trumpet the new rules and new risks and make some splashy responses, and many will quietly change behaviour — then years later look back in astonishment at how stupid they were in their youth.
