Several key towns were identified by the technical committee of the Egyptian army, which visited the Horn of Africa nation last week, as part of its evaluation of the environment, climate, and community interaction for the Egyptian forces.
According to multiple sources, the Egyptian forces will be stationed in Bal’ad, Jowhar, Burane, and Mahaday — currently manned by Burundian peacekeepers operating in the Middle Shabelle region.
Their presence in Somalia has been met with mixed reactions, including resistance by the Æthiopian authorities, who maintain that Egypt's presence would significantly derail the fight against al-Shabaab ... the personification of Somali state failure... murderous Moslems in the country.
Egypt and Æthiopia, who will now play a role in Somalia’s stabilization process, are embroiled in a bitter diplomatic spat over the construction of the Grand Renaissance Dam (GERD) along the Blue Nile River, which is set to be commissioned on Tuesday (today).
The northern African country joins Æthiopia, Uganda, Burundi, Djibouti, and Kenya in the peacekeeping mission. Recently, the AUSSOM downsized its military presence in Somalia, with the local troops expected to take over security responsibilities from the foreign troops.
Despite the push to have locals take over security responsibilities, experts argue that the government does not have the capacity to deal with Alshabaab fighters. The group seized strategic towns of Moqokori, Adan Yabaal, and Mahas from the local forces.
The al-Shabaab fighters always target the Forward Operating Bases within the country, and in the past, the group has managed to overrun a few of them — including El-Adde and Kulbiyow Forward Operating Bases manned by the Kenya Defence Forces, killing several soldiers.

Hamas official Fawzi Barhoum, in a televised speech, said that the attack targeted its negotiation delegation while it was discussing US President Trump’s latest ceasefire proposal.
"This crime was... an liquidation of the entire negotiation process," Barhoum said. "We affirm that the US administration is a full accomplice in this crime."
In an English-language statement issued immediately after the strike, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu averred that it was "a wholly independent Israeli operation. Israel initiated it, Israel conducted it, and Israel takes full responsibility." Trump himself has been publicly critical of the strike.
No senior Hamas members have been confirmed killed in the attack.
Hamas identified the dead as Jihad Labad, head of the office of top Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya; Himam al-Hayya, Khalil al-Hayya’s son; and three others described as "associates" — either advisers or bodyguards: Abdallah Abd al-Wahid, Muamen Hassouna and Ahmad Abd al-Malek. In addition, a Qatari security officer, Lance Corporal Badr Saad Mohammed al-Humaidi al-Dosari, was killed.
One coffin bearing a Qatari flag and five others bearing Paleostinian flags were brought into the mosque, live footage from Qatar television showed.
While Hamas has asserted that Khalil al-Hayya and its other leaders were not killed in the strike, he and other brass hats in the terror group were not spotted at the Doha funeral, despite his son being among those killed. Israel is said to be pessimistic about the results of the strike.
Barhoum said Thursday in the pre-recorded speech that Israel struck the home of Khalil al-Hayya. His wife, as well as the wife of his son Himam al-Hayya — who was killed — were maimed in the strike. Other family members were also maimed, Barhoum said.

The interior ministry said the dead would be buried in the Mesaimeer Cemetery after the funeral at Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque. Authorities beefed up security, with checkpoints on access roads to the mosque.

[Breitbart] More migrants have come to Britain by the illegal boat route since the crisis began than there are serving sailors, soldiers, and airmen in the whole British Armed Forces, analysis states.
Over 181,326 migrants are known to have come to the United Kingdom by what is euphemistically called the small boats route since December 2018, analysis of government figures of those intercepted by Migration Watch says. Remarkably, that figure is now higher than all those serving in the British Armed Forces, which continues to dwindle and per Migration Watch’s reckoning now stands at 180,779 personnel.
Pertinently to this comparison, the think tank in a statement given to Breitbart News emphasises that migrant data shows the vast majority of migrant arrivals by human trafficker’s boats are “military age men” aged 18 to 39. This huge arrival of unvetted migrant males presents a potentially major threat to national security, they said.
Alp Mehmet, Chairman of Migration Watch, said of these findings: “Military age men are pouring into Britain across the Channel. Enforcing a border is the most basic responsibility of a government, but Keir Starmer has failed to do even that. Illegal Channel crossing are now a major political crisis, and pose a real and present threat to our national security.”
According to a recent Parliamentary report, of the present strength of the British Armed forces, 77 per cent are full time service personnel, with an additional 17 per cent in the volunteer reserves. The largest force is the British Army, with around 82,000 soldiers of all ranks and trades. This was followed by the senior service, the Royal Navy at 33,000, and the Royal Air Force at 32,000.

Ronald Scott Watson, 28, also known as Sarah Watson, Miranda Kyle, and Emily Smith, is charged with arson and destruction of government property. Authorities say Watson is still at large and should be considered armed and dangerous. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to his arrest.
Prosecutors said the charges stem from the night of July 25, 2020, when protesters gathered outside the ICE facility on Ted Turner Drive. Just before midnight, several masked individuals dressed in dark clothing broke through security fencing and vandalized the building.
Investigators said rioters threw rocks, cinder blocks, and modified fireworks, and also used Molotov cocktails and bottles of lighter fluid. The attack caused more than $78,000 in damage, according to court filings. Inside, agents discovered blood near a shattered window along with a lighter fluid bottle and an unexploded Molotov cocktail.

Although many of the vandals attempted to hide their identities, federal officials said Watson was identified through evidence tied to his January 2023 felony conviction in Oregon for assaulting a public safety officer.
Prosecutors also cited Watson’s social media activity before the attack, which included posts depicting violence against ICE agents. In one post, Watson shared an image of an officer about to be struck with a baseball bat. Other posts claimed he had “thrown bricks, done other things not to be mentioned, [and] doxxed people” as examples of “taking action.”
“The right to peacefully protest never excuses acts of violence, like smashing windows and attempting to set fire to a government building,” U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg said.
“The First Amendment does not allow individuals to commit arson or destroy property,” added FBI Atlanta Special Agent in Charge Paul Brown.
Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Steven N. Schrank called the attack “an assault on the rule of law and the safety of our communities,” saying federal agents will “relentlessly pursue those who endanger lives and destroy public property.”
Officials said Watson has connections in both Atlanta and Portland, Oregon, and may be altering his appearance to avoid capture.

The very people shaping the young minds of the nation revealed their twisted views in disturbing posts across the country Wednesday, following the shooting at a rally in Utah where Kirk was speaking.
For many it revealed the exact thing Turning Point USA founder Kirk had been fighting against — unhinged ideologues operating in the education system.
In one typical example, a special education teacher at King Elementary School in Framingham, Mass., named Samantha Marengo posted a video online of herself merrily singing ''God Bless America'' through a Cheshire grin while standing before a breaking news report covering Kirk's liquidation.
The now-deleted video was preserved by the account Libs of TikTok, which added: ''THIS person teaches YOUR children.''
In Naples, New York, another public school teacher apparently called Kirk an ''aspiring Goebbels'' — referencing the chief propagandist of the Nazi party — in his alleged Facebook posts, writing ''Good riddance to bad garbage.''
Neither teacher responded to requests for comment from The Post Thursday.
Kristen Eve, a teacher at the Department of Defense Education Activity at Fort Bragg, NC, allegedly wrote on Facebook: “He was a garbage human being. I won’t mourn him for one second,” before threatening: “We are at a point where things are going to have to get ugly, get messy, maybe even get violent, to change this dumpster fire of a country.”

[FoxNews] President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he would be deploying the National Guard to Memphis, Tenn., next as he continues his anti-crime initiative.
The president made the announcement during an appearance on "Fox & Friends," adding that the deployment would not be limited to the National Guard, and could include the Army if needed.
"Memphis is deeply troubled," Trump said. "We're gonna fix that just like we did Washington."
Trump admitted that he would have "preferred going to Chicago." Clashes involving the Trump administration, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson are likely why the National Guard is not going to the Windy City next.
Trump told "Fox & Friends" that both Memphis Mayor Paul Young, a Democrat, and Tenn. Gov. Bill Lee, a Republican, were both on board with the plan to have the National Guard sent to Bluff City.
Washington, DC was the proof of concept test. Politicians who care about their citizens have seen enough to want it —clearly even Democrats. And those who reject it will have the pleasure of facing their voters in the next election. Interesting times as the Overton Window moves strongly to the right.
"We agree with Governor Lee that effective support for Memphis comes through focused initiatives that deliver results like we have seen with the FBI, state troopers, and other law enforcement partnerships. What we need most are financial resources for intervention and prevention, additional patrol officers, and case support to strengthen MPD’s investigations," Young told Fox 13, a Memphis-based affiliate of Fox News.

Trump’s announcement of a National Guard deployment comes just after Lee moved to send 50 Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers to assist the Memphis Police Department.
"While the FBI and THP operations continue, we are actively discussing the next phase of our strategy to accelerate the positive momentum that's already underway, and nothing is off the table," the governor said, according to Fox 13. "Every Memphian deserves to live in a safe neighborhood."

Trump began a major anti-crime push in Washington, D.C., over the summer and deployed National Guard troops to the nation's capital. While Republicans argue that the troops have made D.C. safer, Democrats have blasted the federal takeover of the city.
The president's decision to deploy National Guard troops in D.C. was part of his effort to federalize the local police force through the Home Rule Act last month, and it's part of a surge of federal law enforcement officers who have been patrolling the streets ever since.
Despite other members of her party objecting to the National Guard's presence, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has acknowledged that the move reduced crime in the district. She even went as far as to sign an executive order encouraging further cooperation with federal officials on crime. It remains to be seen whether the deployment to Memphis will have the same results.

Others have pointed out that though there's some low-hanging fruit to be plucked with this sort of deployment, NG by and large aren't trained for police work, and you don't want to overuse them. "Domestics" are hard enough for the experienced to deal with, for example.

PA General Intelligence Services head Majed Faraj used the meetings to convey to the administration that while Ramallah hopes Washington will reverse the visa bans, it will continue to work to maintain stability and combat terrorism in the West Bank, a Paleostinian official and second source familiar with the matter said.
It was the latest demonstration of the PA’s efforts to remain in good standing with the Trump administration, even though the latter has spent much of its first eight months either largely ignoring Ramallah or taking measures against the PA and Paleostinians.
Faraj’s meetings, along with his entry into the US alone, showed that Washington still wants to maintain some degree of ties with the PA, at least at the security level.

Mandviwalla questioned how crypto dealings could be considered grey when they were conducted through hawala and hundi, which are illegal. He also noted that Paks ranked eighth globally in crypto investment, underscoring the bill's importance.
Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal said there had been no regulation of virtual assets so far, and the government aimed to bring transparency through this bill.

Yesterday, Irish broadcaster RTE said Israel’s participation was “unconscionable” given the “ongoing and appalling loss of lives in Gaza.”
Recent editions of Eurovision have seen protests at Israel’s inclusion over the ongoing war in Gaza, which followed the Hamas-led October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
AvroTros said it had also taken into account the high number of journalists who have died in Gaza in deciding to boycott the 2026 contest, which was watched by 166 million people on television this year, if Israel attends. Israel has denied targeting journalists in the enclave and says some of those killed were affiliated with Hamas.
Israel came in fifth in the contest in 2024, and was the runner-up in the most recent edition earlier this year.

The Flanders Festival Ghent has canceled a concert by the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra because its (designated) director, Lahav Shani, is an Israeli.
Their lame excuse for this ecxample iof blatant antisemitism is this (emphasis mine)
"Lahav Shani has spoken out in favour of peace and reconciliation several times in the past, but in the light of his role as the chief conductor of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, we are unable to provide sufficient clarity about his attitude to the genocidal regime in Tel Aviv. In line with the call from the Minister of Culture, the city council of Ghent and the cultural sector in Ghent, we have chosen to refrain from collaboration with partners who have not distanced themselves unequivocally from that regime.

The premier’s spokesperson described the abduction by "a group of outlaws" as "a crime that does not represent the true state of security and stability prevailing throughout Iraq’s cities." He added that Iraqi authorities "succeeded, on September 9, in locating and reaching the site of her detention" after "extensive and high-level security and intelligence efforts."
The Iraqi Embassy in Washington said in a statement that Tsurkov’s release "reflects Iraq’s steadfast commitment to protecting its reputation and reinforcing its illusory sovereignty, while ensuring that no party is allowed to insult Iraq or its people."
In May, media reports suggested that Tsurkov’s release could be part of a prisoner swap involving Iran, Iraq, and Israel, with speculation that she might be exchanged for Hezbollah members, a detained officer of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and other Iranians held by the United States. Washington denied the claims, with State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce calling them "categorically false."

In the first official images since her release from 2.5 years in captivity, Elizabeth Tsurkov can be seen struggling to walk but in upbeat spirits as she reunited with loved ones in an Israeli hospital on Wednesday evening.
Footage of the freed Israeli-Russian academic was released Thursday by the Prime Minister’s Office, which said that Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with Tsurkov, who described "harsh conditions" in captivity in Iraq.
In the video, Tsurkov, 38, walks with difficulty while holding onto her brother and a medical staffer. She is said to be suffering from severe back pain that was exacerbated during her captivity. She had undergone a spinal operation prior to being kidnapped in March 2023 by the pro-Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Tsurkov told the premier about the "harsh conditions" she was held in, and expressed her desire for all the hostages to return home, Netanyahu’s office said. According to Hebrew media reports, Tsurkov had access to a radio while in captivity and was aware of Hamas ..one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,... ’s October 7 attack and the ongoing war in Gazoo.
Netanyahu told Tsurkov that "he is working for the return of all our captives and will continue to do so."
Tsurkov, a student at Princeton University in New Jersey, was kidnapped in March 2023 while conducting research in Iraq, after entering the country with her Russian passport.
She was held for 2.5 years by the Kataeb Hezbollah militia, which is supported and funded by Iran, and which claimed she was spying for Israel, a charge that Israel and her family denied.
Tsurkov’s mother said that Kataeb Hezbollah’s four-minute video of her daughter in November 2023 was the only sign of life she had received during her captivity: "Since then, nothing. I haven’t received any update. Until now."
Details of Tsurkov’s captivity have yet to emerge, though Trump wrote on social media in his announcement of her release that the academic was going free after "being tortured for many months."
Tsurkov was released to the US embassy in Baghdad on Tuesday.
The Saudi newspaper Asharq al-Awsat reported that Tsurkov was freed in exchange for the release of the son of a senior militia figure. The paper cited sources as saying the son of a bigwig in one of the militias had been involved in an attack on Iraq’s Agriculture Ministry in June and was arrested by state authorities, and had now been released in exchange for Tsurkov.
The claim has not been publicly confirmed by Israeli, American or Iraqi officials.
Two Iraqi militia officials, who spoke to AP on condition of anonymity, said Tsurkov’s release came about as a result of negotiations and not through a military operation to free her.
The officials said one of the conditions for her release had been the withdrawal of US forces currently stationed in Iraq — which had been agreed upon between Washington and Baghdad last year — and that the US and Israel would not launch strikes on Iraq.
A source in Kataeb Hezbollah told AFP that Tsurkov was released to spare Iraq any "conflicts."
She "was released according to conditions, the most important of which was to facilitate the withdrawal of US forces without a fight and to spare Iraq any conflicts or fighting," the source said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Thursday evening that "there will be no Paleostinian state," as he signed an agreement to push ahead with the controversial E1 settlement expansion plan that will cut across West Bank land Paleostinians seek for a state.
All offers come with an expiration date. The one for a Palestinian state in the West Bank has expired, because Israel has to fight too hard to keep them from pulling their own 10/7.
"We are going to fulfill our promise that there will be no Paleostinian state; this place belongs to us," Netanyahu said during a visit to the Ma’ale Adumim settlement in the West Bank, on the outskirts of Jerusalem, where thousands of new housing units would be added.
"We will safeguard our heritage, our land and our security... We are going to double the city’s population," he added.
Netanyahu said that the project is about "realizing a vision... something very big is happening here."
Last month, the E1 project, which would bisect the West Bank and cut it off from East Jerusalem, received final planning approval. Thursday’s signing ceremony was largely symbolic, but it allowed authorities to move forward with construction.
The Civil Administration of the Defense Ministry approved the plans, which would see 3,412 housing units built in a new neighborhood of Maale Adumim on the western side of the city, just east of East Jerusalem. Total investment in the project, which will include adding roads and upgrading major infrastructure, is estimated at nearly $1 billion.
Advocates of a two-state solution have argued for decades that the E1 project would in effect divide the West Bank in two for its Paleostinian population, sever Paleostinian East Jerusalem from the West Bank, and severely harm the future viability of a Paleostinian state — something celebrated by the government’s ministers.
Israel has long had ambitions to build on the roughly 12 square kilometer tract of land known as E1, but the plan had been stalled for years in the face of international opposition.
Speaking at Thursday’s ceremony, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich averred that Israel will soon celebrate the annexation of the West Bank.
"The prime minister told me, ’I’m staying here to hear what you have to say, and I know what you intend to say,'" said Smotrich. "Prime minister, all of us, soon, will thank you and congratulate and celebrate together the application of illusory sovereignty throughout Judea and Samaria," he added, using the biblical name for the West Bank.
A number of right-wing ministers have called in recent weeks for the annexation of parts or all of the West Bank as a response to several Western governments, including the UK and La Belle France, announcing that they intend to recognize the State of Paleostine at the United Nations ...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society... later this month.
Israeli NGO Peace Now, which monitors settlement activity in the West Bank, said last week that infrastructure work in E1 could begin within a few months, and housing construction within about a year.
It said the E1 plan was "deadly for the future of Israel and for any chance of achieving a peaceful two-state solution."
The West Bank is home to around three million Paleostinians, as well as about 500,000 Israeli settlers.

Two documents declassified by the IDF and recently brought to public attention by the pro-Israel watchdog NGO Monitor organization detail how Hamas has used hospitals in Gaza for its own purposes, including to shelter and harbor its operatives and leaders.
Hamas’s use of hospitals has come under increasing scrutiny amid the Gaza war, with Israel facing international condemnation for operations in and around hospitals.
Hamas has fought from within hospitals and from tunnels under hospitals throughout the war, and periodically hid some of the hostages kidnapped from Israel on October 7, 2023, inside them. International law generally prohibits targeting hospitals during wartime, but hospitals can lose this protection if they are used for military purposes.
NGO Monitor argued that the ministerial documents demonstrate Hamas’s deliberate strategy of "embedding its military infrastructure, fighters, and leadership within hospitals and medical facilities in Gaza," and"thereby violating international law and endangering civilian lives."
In one document of Hamas’s Ministry of Interior and National Security dated February 25, 2020, the Gaza Interior Security Mechanism of the ministry stated that the Gaza Ministry of Health was one of the largest government agencies in the territory.
"These facilities are considered to be of interest to hostile security parties and an important source for intelligence gathering, especially in times of war, since these health facilities are a place of gathering for the maimed during times of escalation, and these maimed cases [i.e., people] hold sensitive positions in the resistance," the document states.
"Furthermore, these health facilities are a place of gathering for numerous leaders of the [Hamas] movement and the government during times of escalation," it adds.
The document also contained information testifying to the presence of Hamas’s terrorist and paramilitary forces.
It was stated in the document that the Doctors Without Borders (MSF) La Belle France organization "chose the only room in Abu Yusef El-Najar Hospital that has a (safe) communication landline which belongs to the positive’s activity, in order for MSF to work in it separately."
According to NGO Monitor, "The positive" is a known term for Hamas’s al-Qassam Brigades, the name of the terror group’s terrorist and paramilitary forces.
A second document, dated March 17, 2020, detailed Hamas directives for limiting access to the staff of foreign humanitarian organizations in Gaza hospitals and medical facilities to prevent them from encountering Hamas operatives.
"Do not let these associations have their own locations to work inside health facilities. When a location is allocated for these associations, it shall be outside the main building of the clinic or hospital, and far away from [Hamas] movement locations, and [only] following security authorization," the second Ministry of Interior and National Security document states.
"Medical [Hamas] members from the Gaza Strip must join incoming delegations, whether the delegations work in hospitals or their own locations," the document adds.
The Ministry of Interior and National Security documents also detailed how Hamas requires extensive pre-approval procedures for foreign medical organizations, and imposes ongoing surveillance of these personnel "to ensure compliance and prevent exposure of Hamas activities," NGO Monitor said.
"The internal Hamas documents reviewed in this report expose a systematic Hamas strategy to militarize Gaza’s healthcare system, using hospitals and medical facilities as extensions of its military and security apparatus," NGO Monitor stated.
"Medical centers in Gaza are not merely spaces of treatment, but rather they serve as hubs for Hamas leadership, gathering points for operatives, safe zones for maimed terrorists, and locations for secure communications infrastructure.
"This arrangement is fundamentally inconsistent with the principle of medical neutrality in Gaza, transforming humanitarian spaces into dual-use facilities that serve both medical and military purposes."

His remarks came after he agreed on Tuesday in Cairo a deal with UN nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi on a new framework of cooperations with the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency.
In his interview on Thursday, Araghchi insisted that the new cooperation framework agreement grants access to UN nuclear inspectors only after the approval of Iran’s security body.
Iran halted its cooperation with the agency following the 12-day war with Israel in June, following a law passed by the Iranian parliament.
Iran has accused the IAEA of failing to adequately condemn Israel’s strikes.
In his joint presser from Egypt on Wednesday, Araghchi said the framework was "fully consistent" with provisions of the law.
Araghchi on Thursday further elaborated that the agreement distinguishes between nuclear facilities that were attacked during the war and others which were unharmed, such as the Bushehr reactor in the south.
Access to undamaged facilities will be "considered case by case by the Supreme National Security Council," he said, adding that the situation for the targeted facilities was more "complicated."
"For now no action is taken until Iran carries out the necessary measures related to environmental and safety concerns," he noted, referring to the hit sites.
During an interview with CBS in late June, Grossi had admitted that "we don’t know where this (highly enriched) material could be."
