I can see why people are blaming Hochul instead of Biden. Biden has been out to lunch for several years now and will be out of the White House next month. Hochul still has power and she's doing all the wrong things with it. She will resist Trump's efforts to deport "migrants" so she needs to feel the heat.

The week-long power grab failed following opposition from part of the army and the population, and several high-ranking officers were sentenced to prison terms in 2019.
Appeal judgements are still pending following the trial, but the justice minister said the amnesty law could make up for the slowness of the justice system and unblock the situation.
He said the people concerned by the amnesty will be designated in a forthcoming decree.
The draft law has sparked mixed reactions, with some seeing it as a positive step towards reconciliation, while others question its motivation and implications.
Following the failed 2015 coup, President Roch Marc Christian Kabor won the election, in the country's first peaceful and fair vote in 50 years.
He was however ousted in a military-led insurgency in January 2022, which was followed nine months later by a second coup, whose leader is still in power.

Other statements included "Long live Hamas, long live Paleostine" and a call to "eradicate every Zionist", the court heard.
Last November 13, then-home secretary Suella Braverman complained about the then-prime minister’s failure to address antisemitism and extremism on the streets of the UK following the October 7 atrocities.
In a post seen 13 times, the defendant replied: "You still alive you witch."
In another offensive post, he called deputy president Kamala Harris who got her start in politix between former Oakland mayor Willie Brown's' knees a "crackhead cocnut (sic)", the court was told.
He taunted the Metropolitan Police to "come and arrest me", describing the force as "a bunch of clowns".

In mitigation, David Martin-Sperry said the defendant acknowledged his actions were "misguided and ill thought out", describing himself as an "idiot".
The married father had worked as an accountant during the week and a pharmacy delivery driver at weekends, the court was told.
Mr Martin-Sperry said Nafees Ahmed’s "complete lapse of judgment" came about as a result of seeing images of injured children and he knew little about the organization he was purporting to support.

[KhaamaPress] The Greek Coast Guard has reported that a boat carrying refugees capsized in its waters, resulting in the drowning and death of eight citizens of Afghanistan.
International media outlets reported on Sunday, December 21, that the vessel capsized and sank near the island of Rhodes in eastern Greece.
According to the Greek Coast Guard, 17 passengers on the boat, including 12 men and 3 women, all Afghan citizens, were rescued during the operation.

A front man for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Houston told Breitbart Texas that Mejia-Pineda entered the U.S. illegally as an unaccompanied minor. In 2010, an immigration judge under the Obama-Biden administration ordered the then 19-year-old Honduran man deported. Mejia-Pineda had no further contact with law enforcement until his arrest last week.
ERO officers joined with the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and the Walker County Sheriff's Office to take the Honduran runaway into custody on December 16.
Mejia-Pineda and Calderon are charged with the murder of Zavala-Flores. Mejia-Pineda is being held on a bond of $500,000. ERO officers placed an immigration detainer on the suspect to ensure he could not released on bond. Court records obtained by Breitbart Texas indicate his next court appearance is scheduled for February 13, 2025, in the 262nd Criminal District Court, Judge Lori Gray presiding.
Court records show that Co-defendant Calderon's bond is set at $100,000. His next court date is January 16, 2025, in the same court.

Pakistain (TTP) announced in a statement that it killed 35 Pak security personnel in an attack in South Wazoo last night. Pak authorities confirmed the attack but reported 16 soldiers killed and 9 others injured.
The TTP grabbed credit for the attack, stating they targeted a military post in the Makeen area of South Waziristan, located in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP), also known as the Pakistain Taliban, grabbed credit for the attack, reporting a higher corpse count than official figures.
In a message broadcast on their WhatsApp channel, the group stated, "At least 35 security personnel were killed and 15 injured in the attack." They did not mention if any of their fighters were killed.
The group also alleged that they seized a significant amount of military equipment from Pak forces during the attack.
This assault follows the TTP’s acknowledgment of the death of Maulana Taha, a big shot of the group, in a recent military operation by Pak forces.
Pak media reported that Maulana Taha was killed on Wednesday during an operation in the Tank district of Dera Ismail Khan ... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ... TTP spokesperson Mohammad Khorasani confirmed the death, describing Maulana Taha as a prominent scholar from Swat ...a valley and an administrative district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistain, located 99 mi from Islamabad. The TTP has not yet commented on the incident.

Two Jerusalem residents in their 30s have been indicted for contact with Hezbollah and providing the Iran-backed terror group with information as it battled Israel over the past year.
According to the new indictment, Abd al-Salam Qawasameh and Taar Asili were in contact via a WhatsApp group with a woman using the name "Dania," who was a Hezbollah operative.
Even after learning that she was a member of Hezbollah, the pair continued to maintain contact with her and share information about Israel, prosecutors said.
Announcement of the case came less than a week after security official revealed that another Jerusalem man had been arrested on suspicion of acting on behalf of Iran, including planning a terror attack.
Qawasameh first became acquainted with Dania in 2014 via a WhatsApp group and developed a "personal relationship" with her, according to the charge sheet. Over the years she asked him for money and he sent some to her.
It was only after Israel killed Hezbollah leader His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah ...The late, lamented satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...> in September this year that Dania revealed to Qawasameh that she was an operative in the terror group, the indictment said.
Dania asked him for photos of military bases and other places in Israel that she would then pass on to Hezbollah for review.
He responded that he is familiar with the northern town of Caesarea — where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has a private residence — and sent her some old videos of the coast there. In October, a Hezbollah drone hit Netanyahu’s home, causing light damage. The premier and his wife were not there at the time.
The other suspect, Asili, first came in contact with Dania in the latter half of 2023. From that time he sent her news articles about Israel and then about the war, the indictment says.
At some point in the second half of 2024, Asili became aware that Dania was a Hezbollah operative because of a link she sent him. Nonetheless, he continued their communications, the indictment said.
Dania also allegedly asked the pair to contact a senior Hezbollah intelligence officer. Whereas Qawasameh declined, the indictment said Asili purchased a new SIM card to contact the officer, but refused a request by Dania to take photos in the northern border town of Metula, which was bombarded by Hezbollah during the war.
They were both arrested on November 18 and are charged with "contact with a foreign agent" and passing information to the enemy.
Qawasameh was also hit with weapons offenses after he a photo showed him with an assault rifle that belonged to a Paleostinian gunman during a visit to the West Bank city of Jenin.
The prosecution has asked the Jerusalem District Court to keep them in jug until the end of the legal proceedings.

COGAT also says that 87 patients, caregivers, and others were transferred from Kamal Adwan to other hospitals in the Gaza Strip, in an effort coordinated with the World Health Organization.
COGAT says 16 more patients and caregivers were transferred from Jabalia’s Al-Awda Hospital in coordination with the Red Cross.
“These transfers were carried out following requests from the IDF and health system officials to safely evacuate hospitals in the area, ensuring the safety of residents while maintaining humanitarian corridors and active medical centers in the Gaza Strip,” COGAT says in a statement.
The military denies reports in Palestinian media that it had ordered the complete evacuation of Kamal Adwan overnight.

[GEO.TV] Lebanese media has reported that the Israeli forces handed over seven detainees to UNIFIL, the UN's peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon.
The handover was confirmed by the Lebanese Red Cross that its teams transported the individuals from Ras an-Naqoura to the Lebanese-Italian Hospital in southern Lebanon's city of Tyre, as reported by Al Jazeera.

The NNA reported Sunday that the Israeli army "carried out major bombing operations in the town of Kfar Kila," and also said the military "blew up a number of houses" in the Bint Jbeil district, decrying "repeated attacks on occupied southern villages."
The IDF said in a statement on Sunday that soldiers "located and destroyed a combat compound containing eight weapon storage facilities" in south Lebanon, "acting in accordance with the ceasefire and understandings between Israel and Lebanon."
