Any connection to narco gangs, or are the merely vicious men who findthe pickings easier here than back home?
[PM] A man who was arrested by the Fairfax County Police Department in connection with a murder case was confirmed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to be a Honduran illegal immigrant. This recent arrest follows a series of previous criminal charges against the same man within the county.
The traumatized body of Nicacio Hernandez Gonzalez, 47, of Fairfax, Virginia, was found at 9500 block of Route 29, per the Fairfax County Police Department. Three suspects have been arrested in the murder case, Maudin Anibal Guzma, 27; Wilmer Adli Guzman, 20; and Wis Alonso Sorto-Portillo, 45.
ICE confirmed to ABC 7 News that murder suspect Anibal Guzman, entered the country illegally and has been arrested multiple times. Earlier this year, in March, he was arrested and charged with malicious assault for severely injuring a victim, among other offenses. However, he failed to appear in court. On June 28, Guzman was arrested again, this time charged with malicious wounding. Despite multiple immigration detainers issued by ICE, the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office did not honor them.
In the past 12 months, the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center has housed 725 "undocumented individuals," according to the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office. Of these, only three have been transferred to ICE, as reported by ABC 7 News. Many of these inmates are held for violent crimes or child sex crimes, yet the sheriff’s office continues to refuse ICE's immigration detainers, resulting in most inmates being released back into the community.
How are house prices trending in Fairfax County nowadays?
Fairfax County Sheriff Stacey Kincaid has stated in a letter that she requires a judicial warrant to transfer inmates to ICE despite detainers being issued.
The actions of Fairfax County are drastically different than the procedures of Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman, who honors detainers without a judicial warrant. This has enabled ICE to deport nearly 100 illegal immigrants from his county over the past two years.
"We need to make sure that we're not keeping these people in our community that can do further harm," Chapman explained. "It makes no sense to me to allow these people to stay in the area and then commit another crime if we know for a fact that they're violent and that they're here illegally."
Chapman elaborated on his office’s procedure: "When we arrest somebody, we immediately run them to see whether they're here illegally or not. And if in fact they are and we notify ICE, then ICE has to make some determination whether or not it's somebody they want to detain - whether it's somebody they want to come and pick up. We notify ICE as to when that person might appear before a magistrate, when they might appear before a judge and how much time they have to actually get out there and pick them up."
[SUDANTRIBUNE] At least 25 people were killed and dozens maimed in an artillery and drone attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the capital of North Darfur on Saturday, the regional government said, accusing the paramilitary group of using chemical weapons
...have not been used since WWI except for in Iraq, by the late, unlamented Saddam Hussein and in Syria, but really, honest, not by the Syrian government. And in Germany in WWII, but that was against civilians. Lots of them, just one of many reasons Hitler's also late and unlamented... The RSF, which has been battling the army since April, launched an offensive on El Fasher in May but was repelled by the army and allied militias. The fighting has killed over 1,000 people and displaced more than 500,000 in the city.
"At least 25 people were killed and more than 50 injured," Ibrahim Khatir, Director General of the North Darfur Health Ministry, told Sudan ...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans... Tribune. He said the injuries observed at the hospital suggested the use of chemical weapons, a claim that could not be independently verified.
Government officials accused the RSF of targeting civilian areas with heavy weaponry. The RSF has previously denied such accusations.
Khatir said he expected the corpse count to rise as some of the injured had not yet reached hospitals.
Local resistance committees reported the corpse count from the RSF shelling in El Fasher has risen to 97, including both fatalities and injuries.
The Saudi Hospital, already grappling with severe medicine shortages, was overwhelmed with casualties, some bearing first-degree burns consistent with incendiary weapons.
A medical source at the Saudi Hospital, speaking anonymously, suggested to Sudan Tribune that the RSF may have deployed internationally banned weapons. They noted that nine of the maimed sustained first-degree burns.

[ARABNEWS] A mainly Tuareg separatist coalition on Sunday claimed a major victory over Mali’s army and its Russian allies following three days of intense fighting in a district on the Algerian border.
"Our forces decisively obliterated these enemy columns on Saturday," said a statement by Mohammed Elmaouloud Ramadane, front man for the CSP-DPA alliance.
That’s the latest name of the Azawad separatists.
"A large amount of equipment and weapons were seized or damaged," and prisoners were taken, he added.
The statement said seven separatist fighters were killed and 12 maimed in the fighting in Tinzaouatene district.
The nation’s military leaders who seized power in a 2020 coup have made it a priority to retake all of the country from separatist and krazed killer forces, particularly in Kidal, a pro-independence bastion in the north.
Large-scale fighting broke out Thursday between the army and separatists in Tinzaouatene after the army announced it had retaken control of several districts.
The district is almost surrounded by Algerian territory and has been at the heart of other battles between separatist forces and the national army over the past decade.
No overall toll was available for the Malian army and its Russian allies, but the separatist front man shared videos with media showing several bodies lying on the ground believed to be from their side.
In some of the videos, white soldiers are visible among the prisoners.
A local official and a former worker with the UN mission in Kidal said the Malian army had retreated with at least 15 fighters from Russia’s Wagner mercenary group killed or arrested.
Mossa Ag Inzoma, a member of the separatist movement, claimed that "dozens" of Wagner fighters and soldiers had been killed or taken prisoner.
But the army said its units on patrol in Tinzaouatene district for three days had begun rearguard action between Friday and Saturday.
The army rarely communicates its losses, and pressure from the junta along with gangs has silenced most independent sources of information in the areas of fighting.

Mali's General Staff Reports Fierce Clashes with Terrorists in the Country's North Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Malian army is currently engaged in fierce clashes with terrorists in the Tinzaouaten region, located in the northeastern part of the country. This was stated in a statement published on July 28 by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic.
The statement, cited by Gazeta.Ru, clarified that Malian troops are launching massive strikes on the bastion of concentration of terrorists and smugglers.
"Five terrorist targets were successfully destroyed by drones of the Malian Armed Forces," it said.
Civilians living in the area where military operations are taking place were called upon to leave the territories where terrorists are located in order to avoid casualties.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on July 6, the authorities of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger signed an agreement to create a confederation. They made this decision following the results of the first summit of the Sahel Alliance held in Niamey. There are 12 countries in the African region of Sahel.
The interim President of Mali, Assimi Goita, was elected as the Chairman of the confederation. The countries that are part of the confederation also decided to create an investment bank and establish a stabilization fund for the LRA.

[ARABNEWS] Algerian military forces have killed three "dangerous terrorists" during a raid in the country’s north, the defense ministry said Sunday.
Authorities regularly report "terrorist" killings, often referring to armed terrorist groups that have remained active in the North African country years after its civil war which ended in 2002.
The defense ministry said in a statement that "as part of the fight against terrorism, an army detachment yesterday killed three dangerous terrorists" in Ain Defla province.
It named the three slain men as Debar Boumediene, Hamneche Ibrahim and Alali Mohammed, without elaborating on their group affiliation.
According to the statement, two Kalashnikov-type submachine guns, ammunition, and "other objects" were seized during the military operation.
Since the beginning of the year, the Algerian defense ministry has reported the killing of at least 35 "terrorists" and the arrests of 256 suspects "supporting terrorist gangs."
Despite a 2005 amnesty law following the end of the civil war, terrorist groups continue to carry out sporadic operations in the hydrocarbon-rich country, often in mountainous and sparsely populated areas.
[IsraelTimes] Train service resumes after weekend repairs; official says ultra-left actors may have been ‘manipulated’ into committing attack hours before Olympics opening ceremony
French authorities arrested an ultra-left activist at a site of national rail company SNCF on Monday, a police source said, days after sabotage attacks paralyzed the network just before the Olympic opening ceremony.
The man was detained at Oissel in northern La Belle France on Sunday and had access keys to SNCF technical premises, tools and literature linked to the ultra-left, the source told AFP, asking not to be named.
At the same time, police said that the fiber optic networks of several telecommunications operators had been "sabotaged" in six areas of La Belle France, although Gay Paree was not affected.
There was no immediate indication of whether that incident was connected to Friday’s attack on the rail network.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said earlier on Monday that La Belle France was leaning toward the likelihood that far-left snuffies were behind the train network damage last Friday, which coincided with the Olympic Games opening ceremony.
Saboteurs had struck La Belle France’s high-speed train network with predawn attacks on signal substations and cables at critical points, causing travel chaos hours before the opening ceremony.
"We have identified the profiles of several people," Darmanin told La Belle France 2 TV, regarding the hunt for those saboteurs. He added that the saboteurs’ mode of operation bore the hallmarks of far-left Death Eaters, without providing examples.
Far-left French anarchists have a history of targeting the train network with arson attacks.
Far-left French anarchists have a history of targeting the train network with arson attacks.
The attacks were "deliberate, very precise, extremely well-targeted," Darmanin said, adding that this was "the traditional type of action of the ultra-left."
Asked whether the profiles that were identified in connection to the attack were close to the far left, Darmanin said: "We must be cautious."
He said the question was whether the actors were "manipulated" into carrying out the criminal act, or if they did it "for their own benefit."
"These are people who may be close to this movement," the interior minister added, without expanding further.
A statement signed by "an unexpected delegation" was sent to several news media outlets expressing support for the sabotage and criticizing the Olympic Games as being a "celebration of nationalism" and the oppression of peoples by nation-states.
Darmanin said the statement was "something that resembles a claim," but cautioned that "we must be careful because it could be an opportunistic claim."
It remained unclear if the sabotage was deliberately timed to disrupt the Games’ opening spectacle on Friday evening.
All trains were back up and running by Monday morning after teams worked around the clock over the weekend to fix the damage, Transport Minister Patrice Vergriete said on RTL radio.
The attacks affected 800,000 travelers, but "in the end, 700,000 were able to make their trips" while 100,000 were hit by train cancellations, he said.
Since the attacks, 50 drones, 250 rail security agents and 1,000 maintenance workers were deployed to tighten security along the 28,000-kilometer (17,400-mile) high-speed train network, the minister said, adding that the incident would likely cost millions of euros.
Over the weekend a message of support and praise for the attack on France’s railway network was sent anonymously to several French newspapers. Broadsheet Le Figaro stated the message was written using the language of “anarchist ultra-left activists”, and said of the Paris Olympics opening ceremony which the sabotage had apparently been intended to impact: “They call this a party? We see it as a celebration of nationalism, a gigantic staging of the subjugation of populations by States”.
Nevertheless, Darmanin stopped short of naming any specific left-wing group of movement, saying there was still time for caution and that the saboteurs may be adjacent to a movement. Of the “anarchist ultra-left” message, he said it could be an opportunistic move rather than by the saboteurs themselves.
Further developments over the weekend suggest more railway sabotage may have been planned after Friday’s major attack. On Sunday, what Darmanin called an “ultra-left militant” was arrested at a French railway facility. The man was found in a vehicle and had with him railway access keys, a pair of wire cutters, and “far-left” literature.
As intoned by the French interior minister Darmanin, cable cutting has emerged as a distinct, if little studied tactic of the “ultra-left” in several European countries this century. While these often considerable acts of sabotage tend to receive little press coverage, and the Paris Olympics attack may be the first time many will be aware of the fragility of these systems and the willingness of the left to exploit that, sabotage against the modern industrial world continues like a steady drumbeat.
Summarising this history and paraphrasing previous reports:
As reported by Breitbart News in 2022 there was a strikingly similar attack in Germany, where “Backhaul communications cables concerned with the Germany Railway (Deutsche Bahn, DB) radio system, safety-critical equipment without which modern, tightly timetabled and high speed trains cannot safely operate, were “willfully and intentionally severed”.”
The perpetrators were said to have “very precise knowledge of the railway’s radio system” and two cables were cut simultaneously 340 miles apart. As expressed by a German Army General at the time of that attack, the purpose of such attacks are “not about an enemy army with soldiers and tanks attacking our country [but] pinpricks in the population that are intended to stir up uncertainty and shake confidence in our state” and “every substation, every power plant, every pipeline can be attacked”.
These “pinprick attacks” undermining public confidence in the everyday systems of Western life frequently target railways. Cables supplying power to high-speed trains were sabotaged in in 2019 in Italy. As stated at the time, this attack appeared to coincide with a court ruling on a left-wing group said to have bombed a book shop.
In 2019, a radio transmitter was burnt in France. In 2020, 50,000 people lost internet access in greater Paris when cables were cut. This was said to be the culmination of a weeks-long campaign against information infrastructure.
In 2021, a series of attacks against telephone and internet services in France saw data company vehicles burnt, fibre optic cables cut, and a radio tower destroyed. Left-wingers took credit, saying: “it is not to protest against 5G in particular but in a broader context, fighting against the techno-world… We want to salute all the arsonists who are acting in the shadows at the moment and repeatedly beating this technological hell.”
In early 2022, the far-left was suspected over the sabotage of a power station and nine power lines over two nights. This left thousands of homes and a semiconductor factory without power. Days later, several French cities were left totally without internet after data cables in several locations were cut in the same night. The sabotage was done effectively enough, it was said the attackers would have to have “known the network”.
Transport Minister Patrice Vergriete said the cost of the sabotage would "very probably" amount to millions of euros. He told the broadcaster RTL that this included "commercial losses" and "repair costs."
In response to the incident, Darmanin said that 50 drones, 250 rail security agents and 1,000 maintenance workers were deployed to tighten security along the 28,000-kilometer (17,400-mile) high-speed train network.
Darmanin also confirmed that authorities had arrested 45 members of the Extinction Rebellion direct action environmental group. They had planned actions to protest the social and ecological consequences of the Olympics.

Nope! Mossad identified it as an Iranian operation.
Why are the French trying to deflect and blame a patsy? Don't want to lose their contracts with Iran? Pussies.
Hezbollah has got to go and that means Iran has got to go.
France arrested an ultra-left activist related to the train sabotage and dozens of Extinction Rebellion henchmen-persons, so I’m moving the entire story to Page 1: War on Terror.

[NY Post] A number of fiber optic networks have been "sabotaged" across France — just days after arson attacks paralyzed high-speed train services during the Olympics opening ceremony, according to reports.
Cables for several telecom operators were purposely cut in six areas of France earlier Monday, police told the French outlet Agence France Presse.
However, Paris has not been affected by the sabotage.
The cables in electrical cabinets belonging to operators SFR and Bouygues had been cut in southern France, and installations in the Meuse region near Luxembourg and the Oise area near Paris had been vandalized, according to the French paper Le Parisien.
The vandalism is mainly affecting fixed-line services and not mobile devices.
There has so far been no claim of responsibility for the recent attack on the country’s infrastructure.
The incident comes just three days after "coordinated" acts crippled high-speed train services on three major lines connecting Paris with Lille, Bordeaux, and Strasbourg.
A fourth attack on the Paris-Marseille line was foiled by night-shift workers.
The high-speed train disruption ruined travel for at least 250,000 passengers on Friday, including those coming from other parts of Europe, such as the UK, on the Eurostar.
French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said France’s intelligence services have been mobilized to find the perpetrators of the "acts of sabotage" which he described as "prepared and coordinated."
They had "a clear objective: blocking the high-speed train network" ahead of the Olympics opening ceremony, Attal said,
"Playing against the Games is playing against France, against your own camp, against your country," Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castera said of the attacks.

[NY Post] Border agents detained three Palestinian migrants who illegally crossed the southern border after they were found to have possible ties to terrorist organizations earlier this month, according to sources.
One of the migrants had "salacious photos" on their phone — including a picture of a masked man holding an AK-47 rifle, federal law enforcement sources said.
In addition to the three Palestinians, federal authorities caught one migrant from Turkey who was also suspected of having ties to terror groups.
The migrants were among groups of dozens of migrants who turned themselves into border agents at the San Diego sector, said sources.
An investigation into the migrants is ongoing, sources said. The group was transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating their cases.
It’s the latest example of potential security threats entering the US via the southern border — especially at San Diego.
Overwhelmed Border Patrol agents tell The Post that they do not have the tools to fully vet the migrants who are coming in from all over the world — particularly into the San Diego area.
Mostly, they are only able to use US terror watchlists and other American resources to help determine which migrants could be a terror threat. Border agents do not have access to terror or criminal databases from other countries.
"Knowing who these guys are, we have, like, no access to anything international. Like, we really don’t and it kind of sucks," said one border agent, who spoke anonymous because they were not authorized to give public statements.
"I wanted to get into Border Patrol and protect from terrorists. And it’s like, well, I probably let terrorists in the country."
A Customs and Border Protection spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
It’s unclear which terrorist organization the migrants were allegedly affiliated with.
However, border agents in the San Diego sector were warned to be on the lookout for individuals tied to Palestinian terrorist groups after the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attack on Israel.
"San Diego Field Office Intelligence Unit assesses that individuals inspired by, or reacting to the current Israel-Hamas conflict may attempt travel to or from the area of hostilities in the Middle East via circuitous transit across the Southwest border," the previous alert read.
"Foreign fighters motivated by ideology or mercenary soldiers of fortune may attempt to obfuscate travel to or from the US to or from countries in the Middle East through Mexico," the memo adds, before listing the patches of Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah.
The migrants crossed the border just weeks after the Biden administration instituted new policies that restrict the ability of migrants to request asylum — though the executive order has has major loopholes allowing migrants to still be released into the country.
[SHAFAQ] On Sunday, the security forces arrested a terrorist in al-Karkh district of Baghdad.
The Baghdad Operations Command announced in a statement, "During search and inspection operations, coordinated with our Intelligence and Security Division, our security units in the Second Division of the Federal Police, along with a detachment from the Khadra Intelligence Office, apprehended a terrorism suspect."
The statement detailed that "the terrorist, who belongs to ISIS terrorist groups, was arrested within al-Ameriya of al-Karkh district." The suspect was handed over to the relevant authorities to complete the legal procedures against him.

[GEO.TV] Israel has killed at least 15 Palestinians, including a four-month-old girl in two separate Israeli air strikes in Khan Younis.
Medics said one Israeli air strike killed five people including a baby girl named Maria Abu Ziada in an area containing tents housing displaced people in the al-Mawasi zone — a humanitarian-designated area.
Meanwhile, another air strike on a house in Khan Younis killed ten people, health officials said.
Locals report Israeli tanks advancing in areas surrounding the southern Gaza city; fresh evacuation orders issued in enclave’s central region after rockets launched from Bureij
Paleostinians in southern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... reported on Sunday that Israeli troops were advancing in the areas surrounding Khan Younis, thanks to fierce battles with Hamas ..a regional Iranian catspaw,... that the Israel Defense Forces said had left one officer and a soldier with the 7th Armored Brigade’s 82nd Battalion seriously maimed. The soldiers were taken to hospitals for treatment, the IDF said.
Israeli tanks pushed further into the three towns of al-Qarara, al-Zanna, and Bani Suheila, in the east of Khan Younis, local Paleostinians said, reporting that fierce fighting could be heard in areas where the IDF was battling Hamas terrorists.
Paleostinian medics said that at least nine people had been killed earlier on Sunday by Israeli military strikes in the area, although the figures could not be verified, and officials of the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry do not differentiate between combatants and civilians.
The latest IDF offensive in Khan Younis was launched last Monday after the IDF said it had identified Hamas bully boyz regrouping there, three months after the military withdrew from the southern Gaza city. On Wednesday, it also announced that one of the goals of the operation had been to retrieve the bodies of five Israelis killed and dragged into Gaza during the October 7 massacre in southern Israel.
The renewed fighting had forced thousands more families in southern Gaza to leave their homes and head west, to the designated humanitarian areas in al-Mawasi to the west and Deir al-Balah to the north.
Inside the Israel-designated "humanitarian zone," in the al-Mawasi area, an Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... on a tent was reported to have killed five people, including a 4-month-old girl named Maria Abu Ziada. The IDF said it was aware of the reported strike and that it was looking into it.
Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido stepped from behind the suit of armor, rapier in hand. Ciccolini snarled and reached for his own weapon... in Rafah, Gaza’s southernmost city, Israeli forces were reported to have advanced deeper into northern parts of the city, where they had yet to take full control.
In central Gaza, the IDF’s Arabic-language front man Col. Avichay Adraee issued fresh evacuation orders, calling for Paleostinian civilians in the area to head for the designated humanitarian zones.
The military would "forcefully operate" against terror groups in the Bureij area, Adraee said, urging residents to leave "immediately for their safety" after rockets were launched from the central Gaza camp.
Also in the center of the war-torn enclave, Israeli troops were reported to be battling Hamas in the Tel al-Hawa suburb of Gaza City.
The Hamas-run health ministry said on Sunday that some 39,300 people had been killed since the start of Israel’s offensive in Gaza, and another 90,830 had been injured. Of that number, it said, 66 had been killed in the past 24 hours.
The Gaza authority does not differentiate between civilians and combatants, and Israel says it has killed some 15,000 combatants in battle and some 1,000 bully boyz inside Israel during the October 7 attack.
War erupted on October 7 when Hamas led a devastating cross-border attack on southern Israel that killed 1,200 people. The estimated 3,000 bully boyz who burst through the boundary also kidnapped 251 people who were taken as hostages to Gaza.
Israel responded with a military offensive to destroy Hamas, topple its Gaza regime, and free the hostages.
Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border stands at 331. The toll includes a police officer killed in a hostage rescue mission and a Defense Ministry civilian contractor.

[ARABNEWS] Leb ...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... on Sunday called for an international investigation into a strike that killed 12 people, including children, in the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights, warning against a large-scale retaliation.
Hezbollah rejected Israel’s accusation of bombing Majdal Shams on Saturday, saying in a statement that "the Islamic Resistance® has nothing to do with the incident at all, and we categorically deny all the false claims in this regard."
After Hezbollah’s statement, Walid Wally Jumblat ...Druze politician, head of the Progressive Socialist Party, who's been on every side in Leb at least four times. He'll sell you his friends for a dollar, but family comes higher because of shipping and handling... , former head of the Progressive Socialist Party — the most powerful Druze leader in Lebanon — warned against "what the Israeli enemy is doing to ignite strife, fragment the region, and target its various communities."
His warning came as Israel on Sunday morning carried out intense raids on the villages of al-Abbassieh and Burj al-Shamali near Tyre, southern Lebanon, causing widespread destruction.
It also raided the border villages of Tayr Harfa and Khiam, and targeted a residential building in Taraya, central Bekaa, with two missiles, destroying the building but causing no casualties.
The attack in Majdal Shams came hours after a raid by Israel on the southern border village of Kfarkila, in which four Hezbollah members were killed.
In a statement, the Lebanese government condemned "all acts of violence and attacks against all civilians," adding that "targeting civilians is a flagrant violation of international law and contradicts the principles of humanity."
It called for an "immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts."
Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib said in a statement on Sunday that "since the beginning of the war, Hezbollah has been targeting military sites and not civilians, and I don’t think that it carried out this attack in Majdal Shams."
He added: "It might be planned by other organizations ... an Israeli mistake or even an error on Hezbollah’s part, I don’t know. We need international investigation to uncover the truth."
In a joint statement, UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert and UNIFIL head of mission and force commander Lt. Gen. Aroldo Lazaro condemned "the death of civilians, including young children and teenagers, in Majdal Shams," stressing that "civilians must be protected at all times."
They urged "the parties to exercise maximum restraint and to put a stop to the ongoing intensified exchanges of fire, as they could ignite a wider conflagration that would engulf the entire region in a catastrophe beyond belief."
The UN special coordinator held a phone call with Parliament Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri
...perennial Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, head of the Amal Shiite party aligned with Hezbollah, a not very subtle sock puppet of the Medes and Persians... , who is considered the most important channel of communication with Hezbollah.
According to his press office, Berri affirmed that "Lebanon and its resistance are committed to UN Resolution 1701 and the rules of engagement by refraining from targeting civilians."
Berri added that "the resistance’s denial of involvement in the Majdal Shams incident strongly reaffirms this commitment and underscores that neither Lebanon nor the resistance is responsible for what happened."
UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti said his organization was in contact with the parties to diffuse the tension.
Jumblat received a phone call from the US mediator to the Middle East, Amos Hochstein, who expressed concern over the escalating situation on the southern Lebanese front after the Majdal Shams incident.
Jumblat tried to diffuse the situation, since most of the Majdal Shams’ residents are Druze.
He said that "targeting civilians is rejected and condemned, be it in occupied Paleostine, the occupied Golan, or in southern Lebanon," adding that "the history of the Israeli enemy is filled with massacres against civilians."
Activists and supporters on TV channels and social media platforms denied Hezbollah’s involvement in the Majdal Shams attack, noting that "there are no settlers in Majdal Shams for the party to target, and it knows that."

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
