With our society being awash in immigrants, it’s probably best to stop using colloquial expressions like “ball and chain,” until all the newbies get some time to get with the program.

Anyone who's been there long enough to know that every so often it does rain and low lying areas are subject to flash floods. How do you think all those ravines were formed?

Actually, they should have had better sense than to buy a house in one of those low lying areas and the local government would have only allowed building in those areas if they were a bunch of crooks.

High ground. Always try to find the foking high ground.
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The number of families affected by the torrents in Saada province during the past days generally reached 525 families in three districts, and about 60 families whose status has not been verified, a local official said on Tuesday.
Director of the Humanitarian Affairs Council branch in the province, Mohammed Hussein Bidhan, indicated in a statement today that an emergency meeting and field visits were carried out to the most affected places, noting that assistance will arrive from Sanaa within two days, including food, mattresses and tents.
He attributed the causes of the damage to the families in the districts of Saada, Sahar and al-Safra to the Saudi-led coalition’s bombing of the torrent channels, in addition to the displacement of families after the destruction of their homes to unsuitable places.

[Breitbart] The concealed carry permit holder who shot an alleged robber while holding a six-pack of beer in Cassopolis, Michigan, will face no charges.
Breitbart News reported that 35-year-old Cordelius Anthony Martin allegedly entered the store and announced a robbery. Surveillance video shows that a customer was in the store at that time with a six-pack of beer in his hand.
The customer, a concealed carry permit holder, pulled his pistol, holding it in his right hand and shooting the robber while continuing to hold the beer in his left.
Martin was shot numerous times.
Mr. Martin literally brought a knife to a gun fight. All honour to the gun owner, who cooly did what was necessary.

Imagine the character of a man calmly reaching for his pocket pistol holster, then removing the pistol and discharging a full magazine while not dropping his beer.

"Yuscil Taveras, an IT director identified as Trump Employee 4..."
They have penetrated [everything].
[BBC] Former US President Donald Trump has been implicated by one of his employees in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case, according to a court filing.
Yuscil Taveras, an IT director identified as Trump Employee 4 in legal documents, changed his testimony after switching lawyers, say prosecutors.
He now accuses Mr Trump and two aides of "efforts to delete security camera footage", says the filing.
The 77-year-old ex-president faces 40 charges in the case.
Mr Trump, his close personal aide Walt Nauta and Mar-a-Lago maintenance worker Carlos De Oliveira have all pleaded not guilty.
The former president is accused of mishandling the storage of sensitive files at his Florida estate and trying to cover up the alleged crime by deleting security footage.
The court document filed on Tuesday says Mr Taveras changed lawyers after special counsel Jack Smith, who is overseeing the case, notified him he was being investigated for perjury.
His former lawyer also represents Mr Trump's co-defendant Mr Nauta.
During grand jury testimony in March this year, Mr Taveras "repeatedly denied or claimed not to recall any contacts or conversations about the security footage at Mar-a-Lago".
Prosecutors said they obtained evidence that Mr De Oliveira had asked Mr Taveras to delete the CCTV footage after investigators demanded the video as they tracked the movement of boxes containing the documents inside the resort.

[Jpost] National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir labeled criminal organizations responsible for rising Arab sector crime as "terrorists" and called on the Shin Bet to help fight crime.
It’s a violent culture that until last year was left to police itself because they didn’t want the Jewish authorities poking their noses where they weren’t wanted. But last year Ra’am, the political party of the Muslim Brotherhood in Israel, suddenly decided that violent crime in the Arab community was a good wedge issue — though they’d never fussed about it before, as far as I am aware. The problem is that increased Israeli policing in Arab communities has led to increased Arab violence to drive out the interlopers, exactly the Catch-22 expected.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir faced major backlash Wednesday following the shocking quadruple murders in Abu Snaan.
“He has failed miserably and become the court jester of the government. If he was in charge, he would have asked to change positions... All he is interested in is the gimmicks of elections and media,” said National Unity MK Ze’ev Elkin.
Hadash Ta’al MK Aida Touma-Sliman said that “the government is not addressing the issue... Ben-Gvir wants to control a beaten and frightened Arab population... We demand that there be someone responsible for this issue.”
Ra’am chairman Mansour Abbas called for the Arab communities to establish trained armed patrols, saying “I am initiating the establishment of civil guard groups and security classes, like in Jewish settlements. Let the police train them and monitor them.
“We will do everything necessary to protect the lives of civilians, under supervision and in accordance with the law.”
Ben-Gvir called the criminals responsible for the murders “terrorists” and said they were stealing money from the Arab Israeli citizens.
“These are terrorist organizations for all intents and purposes, which are currently directing the assassinations inward towards the Arab sector and the rival gangs,” he said.
“According to the warnings I receive – in a situation of broad conflict, these militias will turn their fire against the State of Israel.
“These organizations kill each other in order to take over state budgets, and most of the money does not go to the welfare of the Arab citizens of Israel, but to the criminal organizations in Arab society,” Ben-Gvir remarked. “Turning a blind eye now and postponing the decision means putting the State of Israel at risk.”
He also called for the police to be given “additional tools and additional powers.”
In a proposal released on Wednesday, he outlined his plan for “strengthening public peace and security.” He called on the government to involve the Shin Bet, which was later confirmed, in efforts to combat crime in the Arab sector, particularly against criminal organizations. He called to establish “a dedicated unit” within the security agency to tackle the issue.
Ra’am chairman Mansour Abbas called in an interview for the Arab communities to establish trained armed patrol, saying “I am initiating the establishment of civil guard groups and security classes, like in Jewish settlements. Let the police train them and monitor them.
"We will do everything necessary to protect the lives of civilians, under supervision and in accordance with the law.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also joined Wednesday’s special subcommittee to address fighting Arab crime, where leaks from the meeting said he chastised the head of the Arab Authorities Committee, Moder Younes, after the latter refused to admit that criminal organizations were the reason for the crime. In the end, it was clear though that the focus must be on them.
Ben-Gvir was backed by Likud MK Hanoch Milwidsky, who told Ynet that “this is a cynical exploitation of the situation, the identity of the minister is not the issue here. The crisis in Arab society vis-à-vis the police is a lack of cooperation for many years.”

Will be interesting in about 6 months or so to see how many front wheel drive and/or electric cars develop issues after driving around in hub deep or better water during these floods.

not to mention the effect of salt water on Lithium batteries. Even though this may have been a freshwater pond, there still exists the potential of catastrophic fire.

[Regnum] The Keldysh Center (part of the state corporation Roscosmos) will develop a design for a self-healing material for use in space suits. Vladimir Koshlakov , General Director of the enterprise, spoke about this on August 22 .
“With the [self-healing] material, everything is fine, it works, but the design needs to be finalized. We have now moved from a flat layered material to the development of a cellular material, that is, these are some cells filled with this material, ” he said in an interview with TASS.
Koshlakov clarified that at the moment, research work is being carried out on this topic and the initial version of such material has already been worked out with the Zvezda Research and Production Enterprise. The general director noted that the Keldysh Center intends to create and test a new design in the near future.
He explained that gloves and elbow joints wear out the most in spacesuits.
“The layered material, when the arm is bent at the elbow, becomes thinner, and the cellular structures hold the material in order to preserve its properties,” Koshlakov added and pointed out that these works are being carried out almost on an initiative basis.
As IA Regnum reported , on June 13 it became known that Russian researchers are conducting unique experiments in the field of astronautics development within the framework of the Priority 2030 federal program.
They created a hardware-software complex that teaches spacewalks, a new material that protects against radiation, and an original method for ejecting fuel residues in zero gravity, which prevents explosions on Earth. In addition, he is developing a large number of other similar projects.
