[ToloNews] The Taliban ...Arabic for students... has intensified attacks on Ghazni city and Kandahar city, both scenic provincial capitals, in the last 10 days, raising concerns among some MPs and residents who warn that the provincial centers will fall to the Taliban if the government does not focus efforts to push back the attacks.
Multiple sources on Monday said that Kahmard district in Bamiyan ...a place in Afghanistan that used to have some historically interesting statues of the Buddha carved into a mountainside. Then the holy men showed up and now all they have is some big holes... and Garmsir district in Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... have fallen to the Taliban in the last 24 hours. However, a clean conscience makes a soft pillow... the Defense Ministry said that 271 Taliban fighters were killed in Afghan forces operations in the same period. The Taliban has rejected these figures.
Special forces units started an operation in Dand district and have pledged to retake the areas that have fallen to the Taliban.
"There isn’t any specific issue here. The enemy is very far from here," said Mujahir Mohammad, a special forces member.
"The highway and the areas and districts that have been captured for propaganda reasons will be taken back soon," said a special forces member.
According to officials and other sources, festivities are underway in districts 5, 6, 7, 13 and 15 in the city of Kandahar.
"The Mirwais Hospital in Kandahar is full of deaders and the maimed," Kandahar resident Sediqullah said.
"The situation is very bad. People have been displaced from their homes," said Kandahar resident Samiullah.
A politician from Kandahar accused the government of not paying attention to the situation in the province.
"The fall of Kandahar means the fall of all Afghanistan. Favoritism in appointments in Kandahar has led to the fall of districts and now the fight has reached the city," said Khalil Ahmad Mujahid, an MP from Kandahar.
Information from local sources indicates that festivities are underway between government forces and the Taliban in districts 2, 3 and 5 in the city of Ghazni.
"The recent rise in insecurity is restricting the government’s control every day," Ghazni resident Sabir said.
"The festivities have reached the city of Ghazni and we have lost almost 50 percent of the city," said the head of Ghazni’s provincial council Nasir Ahmad Faqiri.
However, a clean conscience makes a soft pillow... the government pledged that the Taliban attacks will be pushed back.
"If you think that you will continue this war for another 20 years--if you do this, another foreign force will come to the country," presidential adviser Ibrahim Alokozai said.

The incident happened at around 8am local time when a civilian vehicle struck by a roadside mine in Bolan area Lashkargah city's District 3, sources said.
"All the victims are members of one family who came from a district in Lashkargah city," the sources said, adding that "women and kiddies are also among the victims."
"The maimed have been taken to Emergency Hospital in the city," sources added.
Security officials have not commented on the blast.

Five civilians, four soldiers and 40 armed attackers were killed on Sunday in a clash in Niger's southwest region near the border with Mali, according to a statement from the authorities in Niger's capital, Niamey.
An estimated 100 heavily armed "terrorists" riding motorcycles attacked the Tchoma Bangou village on Sunday afternoon, Niger's Ministry of Defence said in a statement read on public television.
The "prompt and vigorous reaction" by the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), "made it possible to repel the attack and inflict heavy losses on the enemy", the ministry said, adding that its soldiers had seized motorcycles and a cache of weapons, including AK47s and machine guns, from the assailants.
Tchoma Bangou is located in the Tillaberi region, bordering Mali and Burkina Faso, an area known as "the three borders" that has been regularly targeted by jihadist groups.
Tillaberi has been under a state of emergency since 2017. The authorities have banned motorbike traffic night and day for a year and ordered the closure of certain markets suspected of supplying "terrorists".
ISLAMIST INSURGENTS, BOKO HARAM THREAT
Niger has for years battled jihadist insurgencies on its southwestern flank with Mali, as well as Boko Haram on its southeastern border with Nigeria. The repeated attacks have claimed hundreds of lives and forced thousands to flee their homes.
In January, 70 civilians were killed by gunmen in Tchoma Bangou and 30 in the neighbouring village of Zaroumadareye.
Last month, 19 people were killed in villages in the same commune, according to officials.
According to United Nations estimates, there are more than 300,000 internally displaced people in Niger, many of whom fled terrorist violence that has escalated since 2015.
Last week, Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron held a summit with his counterparts from Mauritania, Chad, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger - the G5 Sahel - with a view to discussing the security implications of the imminent reduction of numbers and eventual departure of French troops from the troubled region.
[KhaamaPress] Security source on the condition of anonymity told Radio Free that Turkmenistan is sending reinforcement to its border guards which include jet planes and choppers.
The reinforcement is planned to be deployed from a military base to Mary city of Turkmenistan which is main crossing point between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
Media in Turkmenistan have previously confirmed the move and added that the forces in the capital Ashkabad were ordered to be prepared for deployment on to border with Afghanistan.
Turkmenistan is now second neighboring country in the north of Afghanistan after Tajikistan who is tightening its muscles to secure its borders with Afghanistan after security deteriorated in the northern provinces of the war-battered country.
