The incident happened at around 7:30 am local time in Jalalabad's District 3, he said.
Basina, the policewoman, was first maimed in the attack and died in hospital, said Khan.
"She served in police rank for the last 15 years and the incident happened when she was on her way to the police headquarters," he said, adding that "two suspected were arrested over the incident."

Mr Gabkwet, an air commodore, said the plane disappeared "while on interdiction mission in support of ground troops. The mission was part of the ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the North East.
"The loss of radar contact occurred at about 5:08 pm on 31 March 2021."
Mr Gabkwet added, "Details of the whereabout of the aircraft or likely cause of contact loss are still sketchy but will be relayed to the general public as soon as they become clear. That February 21 crash led to the death of Flight Lieutenant Haruna Gadzama (Captain), Flight Lieutenant Henry Piyo (Co-Pilot), Flying Officer Micheal Okpara (Airborne Tactical Observation System (ATOS) Specialist), Warrant Officer Bassey Etim (ATOS Specialist), Flight Sergeant Olasunkanmi Olawunmi (ATOS Specialist), Sergeant Ugochukwu Oluka (ATOS Specialist), and Aircraftman Adewale Johnson (Onboard Technician).
The Nigerian Air Force is deeply involved in the anti-insurgency operation in the North-East as well as in the onslaught against bandidos in the North-West and North-Central geopolitical zones, providing reconnaissance intelligence and aerial covers for ground troops.

A CBP release states the girls, 3 and 5 years old, were dropped from the 14-foot barrier onto the north side of the wall by two human smugglers just west of Mt. Cristo Rey.
The two girls were uninjured and are in a Border Patrol “temporary holding” pending placement by Health and Human Services, according to the release.
“I’m appalled by the way these smugglers viciously dropped innocent children from a 14-foot border barrier last night. If not for the vigilance of our agents using mobile technology, these two tender-aged siblings would have been exposed to the harsh elements of desert environment for hours,” Gloria Chavez, chief patrol agent of the El Paso Sector, said in a statement.
Chavez said CBP is working with authorities in Mexico to identify the “ruthless human smugglers” and hold them “accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
CBP agents took the girls to the Santa Teresa border patrol station before transporting them to a local hospital.

Acting on a specific intelligence received by Indian Coast Guard and Narcotics Control Bureau, a Sri Lankan fishing vessel Ravihansi was intercepted by Indian Coast Guard in Indian waters off the coast of Vizhinjam, Kerala.
The vessel was brought to Vizhinjam harbour and NCB Chennai Zonal Unit took over the custody of the boat and seized 300.323 kg of Heroin along with five AK-47 Rifles and 1000 rounds of 9mm ammunitions. A number of incriminating documents were also seized from the occupants of the vessel.
The heroin was found concealed inside the water tank of the vessel in 301 packets.
