The announcements by Rashad al-Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, come after the Saudi-led coalition fighting in divided Yemen said it struck a UAE weapons shipment destined for the separatists.
The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (SCT) forces have swept through the south of Yemen this month, taking most of resource-rich Hadramawt province and swaths of neighboring Mahrah.
Alimi orders the SCT to hand over the territory to Saudi-backed forces, calling the separatists’ advance an “unacceptable rebellion” in a televised address.
The confrontation risks tearing apart the already fractured Yemeni government, which has different factions backed by oil-rich Gulf powers Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
It also threatens slow-moving peace negotiations with the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who ousted the government from the capital Sanaa in 2014, triggering a military intervention by the Saudi-led coalition.
The attack signals a new escalation in tensions between the kingdom and the Southern Transitional Council, which is backed by the Emirates. It also further strains ties between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, which had been backing competing sides in Yemen’s decadelong war against the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels.
A military statement carried by the state-run Saudi Press Agency announces the strikes, which it says came after ships arrived there from Fujairah, a port city on the UAE’s eastern coast.
“Given the danger and escalation posed by these weapons, which threaten security and stability, the Coalition Air Forces conducted a limited military operation this morning targeting weapons and combat vehicles unloaded from the two ships at the port of al-Mukalla,” it says.
There is no immediate comment from the UAE.

Journalist and tracking specialist Mohammed Basha said this class of fat merchantman is usually designed to carry large numbers of vehicles and heavy machinery — more than 100 wheeled vehicles or pieces of equipment — bolstering speculation that the voyage serves a major logistical purpose.
These developments coincide with reports from informed local sources that the vessel is carrying shipments of weapons and military equipment destined for forces of the Southern Transitional Council (STC).
It is the second such ship to arrive at the port within 48 hours of another vessel that remains docked, underscoring a rapid tempo of loading and unloading operations.
Analysts link the stepped-up military reinforcements to what appears to be an Emirati effort to counter expected Saudi moves in Hadhramaut and Mahrah, particularly after Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman issued a firm message urging the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council STC to withdraw from the two provinces and hand them over to the newly formed, Saudi-backed "Dera al-Watan" forces.
The ships’ arrival seems intended to solidify a new military status quo that preserves the presence of forces loyal to Abu Dhabi in the east — a move that is escalating tensions and could soon trigger a confrontation between former partners over dominance in the country’s largest provinces.

President Donald Trump confirmed the Christmas Eve strike on Monday, days after he casually discussed in a radio interview the attack on a facility 'where the ship comes from.'
The strike, which took place on a port dock authorities believe was the home base of the alleged drug vessels that the US military has been targeting in the Caribbean and Atlantic over the last three months, signaled a further escalation of tensions between the two countries.
Multiple sources have now told CNN that the drone strike was carried out by the CIA, after Trump refused to weigh in on the theory.
Asked if the CIA had carried out the attack, Trump said: 'I don't want to say that. I know exactly who it was but I don't want to say who it was.'
But Trump has previously said that he has authorized the CIA to carry out covert operations in Venezuela.
Sources said the strike took place on a remote dock on the coast of Venezuela believed to used by the Tren de Aragua gang to stockpile and transfer drugs.
The CIA received intelligence support from US Special Operations Forces. No one was killed and there was nobody at the facility when the attack took place.
Trump initially seemed to confirm a strike in what appeared to be an impromptu radio interview Friday.
Following the Daily Mail's reporting of the under-the-radar strike, Trump confirmed the launch of land strikes in the region, and said the US struck a facility where boats accused of carrying drugs 'load up.'
'There was a major explosion in the dock area where they load the boats up with drugs,' Trump said as he met in Florida with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
'They load the boats up with drugs, so we hit all the boats and now we hit the area. It's the implementation area. There's where they implement. And that is no longer around.'
It is part of an escalating effort to target what the Trump administration says are boats smuggling drugs bound for the United States.
It moves closer to shore strikes that so far have been carried out by the military in international waters in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean.

He said the officers killed as a result of gunfire opened by ISIS in Yalova were Turgut Kulunk, Ilker Pehlivan, and Yasin Kocyigit.
Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said five suspects were tossed into the calaboose as part of a judicial investigation.
"Five public prosecutors have been assigned as part of the investigation launched by the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, and five suspects have been detained," Tunc said, adding that the probe was being conducted "thoroughly and from multiple angles."
Turkey is a member of the Global Coalition Against ISIS (ISIS).
Turkey, however, had been accused of financially and militarily supporting ISIS, an accusation Ankara continually denied, as hundreds of people died in the country in the past, in ISIS-related attacks.
Special forces from neighboring Bursa province were dispatched to reinforce the operation.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said the operation in Yalova was one out of more than a hundred simultaneous raids carried out against IS suspects in 15 provinces across the country.
The operation in Yalova was carried out with "great care" because women and children were inside the house where the militants were located, Yerlikaya said. All five women and six children were safely evacuated from the house, he said.
All of the militants were Turkish nationals, the minister told reporters.
The operation began at around 2 a.m. local time and was officially completed at 9:40 a.m, he added.

The Pashtun Tahafuz Movement is a social movement for Pashtun human rights based in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, founded by students in Dera Ismail Khan in 2014 who hoped to persuade the government by protests and sit-ins to clear the landmines in the Pashtun region — what was then called Waziristan and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). It was banned by the government in October 2024 for disrupting civil peace along ethnic lines.
A recent security forces operation has exposed a clear nexus between the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the PTM, along with the TTP’s use of mosques and the local population as cover to evade security forces and establish operational bases.
During the operation, a precision QC strike inflicted critical injuries on TTP terrorists. Following the strike, the injured terrorists were swiftly evacuated by their accomplices, first to a nearby PTM office for immediate medical assistance, and later shifted to a mosque within a populated area to conceal them from security forces.
The incident highlights a dual role played by PTM: publicly running propaganda campaigns against the state, while providing logistical, medical, and shelter support to TTP terrorists in tribal areas

An Israeli-led series of dance parties in northern Thailand has been canceled after organizers faced online incitement and vandalism by anti-Israel activists, which led to mounting pressure on local authorities.

The Loop Festival was created by a group of Israelis living in Pai, who worked with people from several other countries to create a line of electronic music parties. After more than a year of preparations, the first party attracted hundreds from Israel and abroad.
Founders Eliad Yehuda and Daniel Keizman told Ynet and Channel 12 that the trouble began after the success of the first event, with social media posts accusing them of being "baby killers" and claiming they were attempting to "take over" the town.
Then, vandalism began, with promotional materials around Pai burned. Shortly before the second party, the venue that was to host it was broken into. Equipment was destroyed, set on fire and stolen.
The organizers found an alternative location with better security and proceeded with the second event. But afterward, they were notified by local authorities that the next planned events would not go forward.
"We didn’t understand where this was coming from. Everything was approved, the authorities were aware of everything, we did everything as required. We tried to get answers, but to this day we haven’t received them," Yehuda told Channel 12. "We are simply a group of people who came together to do good for people, to bring joy, out of a love for music, and our team includes Europeans, Thais, and Australians. We didn’t understand where this came from."

The pair said the financial costs of the cancellation amounted to hundreds of thousands of shekels.

He added: "I think the locals themselves began to feel threatened by all this campaign that was created around us and against us, and naturally, that caused us to lose support. We don’t blame them."
The men vowed not to give in to the violence.
"We will create something together, a project against this thing — antisemitism — so that these organizations understand that if they try to eliminate us, then we will grow fourfold, because we also have backing, we are united. We stand together," Keizman said.

[Rudaw] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Monday that three of their fighters were maimed as a result of an attack by Damascus-affiliated forces at the strategic Tishreen Dam.
"At exactly 4:00 pm today, factions affiliated with the Damascus government targeted the surroundings of the residential area at Tishreen Dam with artillery and heavy weapons, resulting in the injury of three fighters from our forces," said the SDF in a statement.
The dam, located southeast of Manbij city on the Euphrates River, was constructed in 1999 and is one of Syria’s largest in terms of production and capacity. It generates electricity and once provided power to much of the Kurdish-held northeast Syria (Rojava).
But Syrian militia groups have launched sporadic attacks on the structure since November, seeking to control the dam for easier access into other areas held by the SDF. The attacks have dramatically decreased since SDF chief Mazloum Abdi and Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa signed a landmark agreement in March, which includes a nationwide ceasefire and the integration of all civil and military institutions in Rojava into the Syrian state.
