If these projects are truly "golden" in any way, it's their cost. The "golden dome," which is designed to provide satellite tracking of all objects flying toward the United States, could cost between $800 billion and $4 trillion, according to various estimates.
The economy is doing better than anticipated by some, and spending continues to fall. DOD logistics is working in streamlining everything, which will save more money. So we might be able to pay for the thing without having to find additional funds. Interesting times, for sure.
If, of course, it can even be built—many of the promised projects, like a satellite-based laser missile-killing system, still seem like science fiction. But military lobbyists will certainly be able to make a killing off the money.
The situation is similar with the promised “golden fleet”.
Trump's team is proposing new ships to replace the troubled Arleigh Burke-class destroyers and their successors, the Zumwalt-class destroyers. The new ships would have a tonnage twice that of the Zumwalt-class destroyers. They are proposed to be equipped with hypersonic weapons, drone-killing lasers, and nuclear cruise missiles.
The Zumwalt destroyer program, launched in the early 2000s, turned out to be one of the most disastrous in the modern history of the Pentagon.
Around $22 billion was spent on it, and only three of the promised 32 ships were built over the years. Everything broke down, even the main missile launchers, so it's easier to list the technical components that these destroyers had no issues with. Now the ships have to be constantly in repair. And their cost has increased by 50% during their development.
Now the Trump administration wants to launch its own project for new ships—even more technologically sophisticated. It's clear they'll face similar problems.

Except that other sources than China for the stuff have long been known, and mines are already gearing up, mines that have better, more efficient equipment than the Chinese can afford.

US military corporations use approximately 80,000 components made from Chinese raw materials and minerals.

The Tomahawk nuclear cruise missiles were decommissioned during Barack Obama's reset of relations with Russia in the early 2010s. Their return will require a great deal of time and effort.

In reality, Russia is currently the undisputed leader in strategic weapons. China, meanwhile, has already surpassed the United States in naval size. Moreover, the Chinese are rapidly building dozens of new destroyers, while the Pentagon is decommissioning more ships than it is acquiring.
But amid escalating domestic crises, the White House is left to sell voters a vision of a bright future. They say, "Don't worry about rising supermarket prices or unaffordable housing. Instead, rejoice in the fact that America will soon have its own "golden fleet." And by 2028, we might even be able to return astronauts to the moon."
However, many problems are emerging here as well. And NASA fears they could be overtaken by the Chinese, who are busily preparing to land taikonauts on the Moon.

In that case, Trump's team faces the opening of its main front in the war—with Congress. And once there, in the context of a civil war with the Democrats, it will certainly have no time for Venezuela or Ukraine.

If you liked the pressure Trump's blockade put on the Maduro regime, you're gonna love the second-order effects it could have on Cuba.
The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that "Venezuelan oil exports are at risk thanks to a partial blockade targeting sanctioned tankers — the kind that carry about 70% of the country’s crude." The story continued, "Were Venezuela’s oil shipments to stop, or sharply decline, the Cubans know it would be devastating."
Cuban exile and energy expert Jorge Piñón told the Journal, "It would be the collapse of the Cuban economy, no question about it."
Communist Cuba has relied on foreign benefactors to stay afloat, pretty much since Fidel Castro and his butcher boys like Che Guevara seized power more than 60 years ago. In recent years, the regime — ruled since 2018 by Communist party chief Miguel Díaz-Canel — relies on the largess of Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro for cheap oil the country can't afford to buy at market price.

I'd love to see a Communist regime collapse, but my hopes aren't exactly up that the Partido Comunista de Cuba will give up the ghost like the Soviet regime did on Christmas Day, 1991 — and what a gift that was! Cuban Commies are particularly wily, and still hold power more than three decades after the West won the Cold War.
So please pray for the people of Cuba this Christmas season. They sure could use it.

Why did we ever give Cuba up?

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the location of almost 130,000 unaccompanied migrant children (I know they're illegal, but they're kids who probably endured torture getting here, so ...) who disappeared after federal placement.
That number should've frozen every briefing room in Washington; children vanished inside a system built to protect them.
Fortunately, the Trump administration treated the number as an emergency instead of a cold statistic. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem described an effort that stayed relentless: tracking cases, reopening files, and pressing agencies that once closed doors too quickly.

Any public official who ignored warning signs deserves scrutiny. If they're proven to be liable for placing kids in danger, I hope they find solace in hell, because they didn't just fail the country, they failed them. The 130,000 children.
Government exists to protect the vulnerable first, and when that duty collapses, apologies are lost like tears in the rain.
