Three victims were recovered and four children under the age of 10 were located and placed in DHS custody according to officials.

Police say a father and son were behind the horrifying mass shooting that left 16 people dead, including one of the gunmen, and 40 people hospitalized during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.
New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said during a press conference on Monday in Australia that it was a 50-year-old man and his 24-year-old son that carried out the terror attack.
The father is dead, police said, and the son is in critical but stable condition in a hospital. Lanyon also said they are not looking for additional suspects at this time.
The father was a licensed gun owner with six legally registered firearms. All six of the firearms have been recovered, with some being recovered at the scene. The others were located and recovered when investigators executed search warrants at two separate locations, police said.
The commissioner told reporters Monday afternoon that the father met the eligibility criteria for a hunting license used for recreational hunting.
Still unidentified, the father was issued a Category A/B firearms license, which allowed him to possess the long firearms he registered.
Lanyon told police the warrants were executed at a property in Campsie and another property in Bonnyrigg. He added that their residential address was in Bonnyrigg, though they were staying in Campsie.
The commissioner also told reporters the father had held a gun license for 10 years.
"There was very little knowledge of either of these men by the authorities," Lanyon said. "The person was determined to be entitled to have a firearms license and…the person had a firearms license for a number of years for which there were no incidents."
Two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were also found at the scene of one of the homes where search warrants were executed. The IEDs were taken into possession by a rescue and bomb disposal unit and found to be active. They were then rendered safe by police.
Lanyon noted that the IEDs were "rudimentary," or fairly basic, though he also noted he was grateful they did not detonate.
Police said the victims of the Sunday attack range in age from 10 to 87 years old.
The shooting happened during an annual celebration, known as "Chanukah By The Sea." It was scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. to celebrate the first day of the Jewish holiday by lighting the first candle on the Menorah. The shooting happened around 6:45 p.m. local time.
Police say the attack "targeted" the Jewish community and is being investigated as an act of terrorism.
At least 40 people remained hospitalized after the shooting, including two police officers, the agency confirmed. The shooting is the worst attack against Jews since the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terror attacks.
Police added that they found evidence of multiple improvised explosive devices in a vehicle near the scene of the attack.
"We have our rescue bomb disposal unit there at the moment working on that," he said.
Names of victims continued to emerge as six people reportedly remained at death's door as of Monday morning in Australia, among more than two dozen still hospitalized. Local leaders promised a forceful response, and Australia is reportedly looking into whether the attack was supported by Iran.
According to Australia’s ABC outlet, both button men are believed to have pledged allegiance to the ISIS terror group. An official from the country’s Joint Counter Terrorism Team told the outlet that an ISIS flag had been found in their car close to the attack.
Naveed is maimed and in the hospital under police guard, according to local reports, and will face charges if he survives.
The outlet also reported that Naveed had been probed by ASIO, the country’s domestic intelligence agency, in 2019 for his close ties to an ISIS cell. According to the official, Naveed was close to members of the cell including Isaac El Matari, an ISIS terrorist arrested that year who identified himself as the group’s head in Australia. Matari is serving a seven-year prison sentence.
"One of these individuals was known to us, but not in an immediate-threat perspective, so we need to look into what happened here," ASIO Director-General Mike Burgess said on Sunday.

As Australian Jews go through the first day after the massacre, leaders are encouraging the community to persevere.
In tearful remarks delivered during morning prayers on Monday, the father-in-law of one of the victims urged the congregation to carry on the work of those who were murdered.
"For whatever reason, they died al kiddush hashem," for the sanctification of God’s name, said Rabbi Yehoram Ulman, the co-founder of Chabad of Bondi, which organized the event that was targeted. His son-in-law, Rabbi Eli Schlanger, was one of the victims of the shooting.

[IsraelTimes] Australian outlets report that as of 1 p.m. local time on Monday, 27 people remain hospitalized from the deadly terror shooting targeting a Hanukkah event at Sydney’s Bondi Beach the previous day.
Of those, six are in critical condition. An additional six are in a critical but stable condition, the outlets say.
At least 15 people were killed in the attack, and more than 40 injured. It was the deadliest antisemitic attack outside of Israel in decades, and the worst attack on Jews abroad since the Hamas-led invasion of southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that suspected terrorist Naveed Akram, 24, first came to the attention of authorities in 2019 and had been the focus of a six-month investigation by the ASIO domestic intelligence agency over alleged ties to a local Australian ISIS group.
“He was examined on the basis of being associated with others, and the assessment was made that there was no indication of any ongoing threat or threat of him engaging in violence,” Albanese said per the Sydney Morning Herald.

After all the evidence that has been presented, I am amazed that some people still don't think we need a travel ban for some of the rogue nations in this world. Pakistan, Somalia, Gaza, Lebanon, Iran and Chechnya come to mind immediately. I'm sure there are many others. Federal authorities say they disrupted a credible terrorist threat over the weekend, arresting four alleged members of a radical pro-Palestinian extremist group accused of planning coordinated New Year’s Eve bombings in Los Angeles.
The FBI told Fox News Digital that the members self-identified as part of a radical offshoot of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), an extremist group motivated by pro-Palestinian, anti-law-enforcement, and anti-government ideology.
According to the FBI, they were allegedly planning coordinated bombing attacks on New Year’s Eve using improvised explosive devices (IEDs), targeting five separate locations across Los Angeles.
The agency said the four were arrested in Lucerne Valley, where they were believed to be preparing to test explosive devices ahead of the planned attacks. They have each been charged with conspiracy and possession of a destructive device.
The FBI said Monday that a fifth individual believed to be connected to the same TILF extremist group was arrested in New Orleans for allegedly planning a separate attack.
A TILF Instagram account said its founding chapter is in Los Angeles, and its goal is to free "Turtle Island," an Indigenous name used to refer to North America, from the "illegal American empire."

The documents also allegedly included a step-by-step process for crafting a pipe bomb.
The members planning to carry out the attack were using the encrypted messaging platform, Signal, the FBI alleges in the complaint. Carroll, the document says, "provided a list that identified components, chemicals, and tools along with prices which would be required to create the pipe bombs needed to go through with the planned attack."
The Signal group chat was titled “Order of the Black Lotus,” according to the Justice Department.
