[FoxNews] Oscar Solarzano, 33, allegedly broke into railroad car while intoxicated before attacking victim
Court records obtained by Fox News Digital revealed a man charged in a violent stabbing on a Charlotte, North Carolina, light rail on Friday is an illegal immigrant who was previously deported.
Oscar Solarzano, 33, was arrested in connection with the stabbing and is charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with serious injury, breaking/entering a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon and intoxicated/disruptive behavior, according to arrest warrants obtained by Fox News Digital.
Bond was not set due to Solarzano being an illegal immigrant who was previously deported, according to a release order filed in Mecklenburg County.

Court records indicate he is being provided with a Spanish interpreter, though his country of origin has not yet been released.
At about 4:49 p.m. Friday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers responded to a call regarding assault with a deadly weapon.
When they arrived, they found the victim, identified as Kenyon Kareem-Shemar Dobie, with a stab wound, according to warrants.
One of Mr. Dobie’s booking photos can be seen here. He is at least a native criminal, proving this is one job we needn’t import anyone from abroad to perform, and he should get credit for providing the service of giving us an excuse to deport his assailant.
CMPD noted Dobie was in critical but stable condition when he was taken to the hospital.
Prior to the attack, warrants allege Solarzano broke into a railroad car "with the intent to commit a felony," while carrying a large fixed-blade knife.
While intoxicated, he challenged Dobie to a fight, cursing and shouting at others using "unintelligible and slurred words," according to court documents.
CMPD did not confirm if Solarzano had a prior criminal record, though court records indicated he had known aliases including Solarzano-Garcia, Oscar Herardo and Kevin Garcia.
Solarzano has a scheduled court appearance on Dec. 8, and will later be released into Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, according to a conditions of release order.

Two men were arrested after authorities found 30 handguns allegedly destined for Mexico hidden in a spare tire during an inspection on the southern border in Texas, officials said Friday.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized the weapons this week at the Anzalduas Port of Entry in Mission, a town on the Texas-Mexico border, the agency said.
DPS special agents searched a 2015 Chevy pickup as part of a multi-agency task force with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
"During the inspection, special agents discovered 30 handguns, including a 5.7-caliber FN Herstal, 60 magazines and one speed loader concealed inside the vehicle’s spare tire," a DPS news release states.
According to a DPS official, the 5.7-caliber FN Herstal is known as a "cop-killer" weapon because the ammunition can pierce body armor.
Investigators later discovered one of the handguns was reported stolen out of Austin, authorities said. The firearms were allegedly destined for Guanajuato

[BBC] Border clashes have erupted again between Pakistan and Afghanistan's Taliban forces, with each sides accusing the other of breaking a fragile ceasefire.
Residents fled the Afghan city of Spin Boldak overnight, which lies along the 1,600-mile (2,600 km) border between the two countries.
A medical worker in the nearby city of Kandahar told BBC Pashto that four bodies had been brought to a local hospital. Four other people were wounded. Three were reportedly wounded in Pakistan.
There has been sporadic fighting between the two countries in recent months, while Afghanistan's Taliban government has also accused Pakistan of carrying out air strikes inside the country.
Both sides have confirmed they exchanged fire overnight but each blamed the other for initiating the four hours of fighting.
Mosharraf Zaidi, a spokesperson for Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accused the Taliban of "unprovoked firing".
The statement continued: "An immediate, befitting & intense response has been given by our armed forces. Pakistan remains fully alert & committed to ensuring its territorial integrity & the safety our citizens."
Meanwhile, a Taliban spokesperson said Pakistan had "once again initiated attacks" and said it was "forced to respond".
Residents on the Afghan side of the border said the exchange of fire started at around 22:30 (18:00 GMT) on Friday.
Footage from the area showed a large number of Afghans fleeing on foot and in vehicles.
Ali Mohammed Haqmal, head of Kandahar's information department, said Pakistan's forces had attacked with "light and heavy artillery" and civilian homes had been hit by mortar fire.
The latest clashes came less than two months after both sides agreed to a ceasefire mediated by Qatar and Turkey.
It ended more than a week of fighting in which dozens were killed - the worst clashes between Pakistan and the Taliban since the group returned to power in 2021 - though tensions have remained high.
The government in Islamabad has long accused Afghanistan's ruling Taliban of giving shelter to armed groups which carry out attacks in Pakistan.
The Taliban government denies the accusation and has accused Pakistan of blaming others for their "own security failures".
The Pakistan Taliban have carried out at least 600 attacks on Pakistani forces over the past year, according to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project.
Last week delegations from both sides met in Saudi Arabia for a fourth round of negotiations on a wider peace settlement, but did not reach an agreement.
Sources familiar with the talks told BBC News that both sides had agreed to continue with the ceasefire.

Earlier on Sunday, a group of soldiers made a broadcast in which they said they had ousted President Patrice Talon. Eyewitnesses told the BBC that they had heard gunshots and some journalists working for the state broadcaster had been held hostage.
A presidential adviser has since told the BBC the president was in a safe location.
French diplomats denied earlier reports that he had taken refuge at France's embassy in Cotonou, Benin's largest city and the seat of the country's government.
There have been a series of coups in West Africa before Sunday's thwarted attempt in Benin, heightening fears that the security of the region could worsen.
Benin, a former French colony, has been regarded as one of Africa's more stable democracies. But Talon has faced accusations of suppressing criticism of his policies.
The nation is one of the continent's largest cotton producers, but ranks among the world's poorest countries.
Seidou said in his address that "a small group of soldiers launched a mutiny aimed at destabilising the state and its institutions", adding that loyalist soldiers had been able "to retain control of the situation and foil the attempt".
Helicopters have been seen flying over Cotonou and roads are blocked with a heavy military presence on several streets.

The soldier's statement cited "the ignorance and neglect of the situation of our brothers in arms who have fallen at the front and, above all, that of their families, abandoned to their sad fate by Mr Patrice Talon's policies".
The rebels also hit out at cuts in health care and taxes rises, as well as curbs on political activities.
Talon, 67, who is regarded as a close ally of the West, is due to step down next year after completing his second term in office, with elections scheduled for April.
A businessman known as the "king of cotton", he first came to power in 2016. He promised not to seek a third term and has endorsed Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni as his successor.
Talon has been praised by his supporters for overseeing economic development, but his government has also been criticised for suppressing dissenting voices.
In October, Benin's electoral commission barred the main opposition candidate from standing on the grounds that he did not have enough sponsors.
Last month, constitutional amendments were passed by MPs, including the creation of a second parliamentary chamber, the Senate.
Terms for elected officials were extended from five to seven years, but the presidential two-term limit remained in place.
Sunday's attempted coup comes just over a week after Guinea-Bissau's President Umaro Sissoco Embaló was overthrown - though some regional figures have questioned whether this was staged.
In recent years, West Africa has also seen coups in Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali and Niger, prompting concerns about the region's stability.
Russia has strengthened its ties with these Sahel countries over recent years - and Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger have left the West African regional bloc Ecowas to form their own group, the Alliance of Sahel States.
News of the attempted takeover in Benin was hailed by several pro-Russian social media accounts, according to BBC Monitoring.
Ecowas and the African Union (AU) have condemned the coup attempt.
AU Commission chair Mahmoud Ali Yousouf reiterated the pan-African organisation's "zero tolerance stance toward any unconstitutional change of government, regardless of context or justification".
Nigeria, Benin's large neighbour to the east, has described the coup attempt as a "direct assault on democracy".
The Nigerian foreign ministry commended the courage of Benin's security forces in "defending the constitutional order and guaranteeing the safety of the president".

True story: In Vietnam, the AirCav once lost a UH1 (a Huey) that had gone on a mail run, no enemy activity suspected, just sorta disappeared, never found. After a week or so, a court of inquiry sent guys around asking, "did you have any gear on the missing aircraft". When the inquiry finished, they determined that the aircraft was overloaded when it went down, having apparently 12 tons of equipment on board. Or so they said.

A Paleostinian was rubbed out by IDF soldiers on Saturday after accelerating in a vehicle toward the troops, Paratroopers Brigade soldiers who were operating near a checkpoint in the West Bank city of Hebron.
An uninvolved Paleostinian civilian who was passing by was also rubbed out by the soldiers amid the incident.
The army initially said that both of the Paleostinians killed were in the accelerating car, but later issued another statement saying that, after a preliminary investigation, it was determined that only one of them was in the car, and the other was uninvolved.
First responders said one soldier was lightly hurt in the incident.
Last Monday, another soldier was lightly maimed in a car-ramming attack near Hebron. The assailant was killed during a subsequent attempt to arrest him. Hours later, two soldiers were lightly maimed in a stabbing attack near the northern West Bank settlement of Ateret. That attacker, too, was rubbed out.
Violence in the West Bank has surged since Hamas ..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",... ’s attack on Israel in October 2023. According to the Paleostinian Authority, over 1,000 Paleostinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers since then. The IDF has said that most of those killed were button men, rioters clashing with troops or murderous Moslems carrying out attacks.
During the same period, 63 civilians and Israeli security personnel have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another eight members of the security forces were killed in festivities during raids in Paleostinian cities in the West Bank.
Attacks by settler Death Eaters have also risen sharply. The IDF has recorded more than 752 incidents of settler violence in the West Bank since the start of the year, surpassing the 675 incidents recorded in 2024.

Represented among the protesters were members of disparate activist groups, whose various causes and demands were on display throughout the square.
The level of venal hypocrisy astounds. Who are the paymasters, now that USAID has been shut down — just the rich American Progressives, or is there international money from elsewhere to replace America’s donations?
Many of the core issues featured by protesters related to and were centered around the October 7 Hamas onslaught and the subsequent two-year war in Gaza, with speakers including the mother of a soldier killed in Hamas captivity.
Other, older issues, such as the government’s many attempts to weaken the judiciary, were mentioned as well.
A large group of the protesters marched to Habima Square from the Begin-Kaplan interchange to kick off the evening’s proceedings.
The Haaretz newspaper reported that they were approached by several right-wing activists as they marched, who were pushed back by the police after a brief confrontation broke out.

Brothers in Arms, a reservist protest group established in 2023 in response to the government’s attempts to overhaul the judiciary, set up a large stand on the square’s south end, where its members railed against the government’s bid to codify exemptions from military service for ultra-Orthodox men.

Nearby, activists from the left-wing group Looking the Occupation in the Eye held signs declaring: "We were silent about the occupation, now we have a dictatorship." About 100 other left-wing protesters hoisted images of Paleostinian children killed in Gaza.
On the other side of the Brothers in Arms stall, the Movement for Quality Governance set up a tent calling for a state commission of inquiry into Israel’s failures in the lead-up to the October 7 onslaught.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has offered various reasons as to why he will not establish such a commission, first insisting it could not be done in wartime and later claiming that the president of the High Court could not be trusted to appoint a fair-minded judge or retired judge to head the commission, and that the panel’s conclusions would be rejected by a sizeable proportion of the public.
A large banner strung up between two trees near the Movement for Quality Governance tent was emblazoned with an image of Netanyahu’s face and the accusation: “Crime Minister.”
So clever. So persuasive.
The Crime Minister protest group sprang up a decade ago, when the corruption charges against Netanyahu that yielded the current, ongoing trial first came to light.
A video playing over a screen accused Netanyahu of arranging cash payments from Qatar to Hamas and salvaging their reputations when they were shunned by much of the Arab world. This, the video posited, led to the Hamas attack and explained why Netanyahu was loath to allow a proper inquiry.
The rally was emceed by leading anti-government activists Shikma Bressler, who rose to prominence during the 2023 judicial overhaul protests, which were suspended in the immediate aftermath of October 7.
“We are the people. We all can and must end the destruction of democracy and of the country,” she said, after the rally opened with Hatikva, Israel’s national anthem. “Together, we can all rebuild the State of Israel as a country we’ll all be proud of: Jewish, democratic, liberal, serene.”
The matters of Netanyahu’s criminal trial and the pardon he requested from President Isaac Herzog last week were also at the center of attention.
Maayan Sherman, whose soldier son Ron was killed by an Israeli airstrike while in Hamas captivity, told protesters that she blamed Netanyahu for his death.
“Ron was one of at least 42 hostages who reached Gaza alive and were killed there because of the decision of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who preferred dead hostages over a deal that would have brought everyone back alive but could have ended his rule,” Sherman said.
She said that “because of this loss,” she was demanding that Herzog reject Netanyahu’s request for a mid-trial pardon.
“Don’t you dare cancel Benjamin Netanyahu’s trial,” she warned. “Nobody in this country can be above the law… that’s a red line that Israel, as a democratic country, must not cross.”
She slammed Netanyahu’s “coalition of crooks and parasites” for seeking to pass a “corrupt draft-dodging bill [for the Haredim]… at the expense of worn-out reservists.”
“We demand a real, independent state commission of inquiry, not a politicized whitewashing committee designed to protect those responsible,” she added, railing against the government’s effort to establish its own probe of the Hamas invasion. “We won’t let the people who were responsible on the day of the massacre judge themselves.”
“My duty as a mother did not end when Ron’s heart stopped beating,” she said. “This country deserves a chance to rebuild… after this bad government took so much from us.”
After Sherman, Brothers in Arms activist Omri Ronen took the stage, hailing the overwhelmingly secular crowd as Israel’s “serving, productive public, the locomotive of the country.”
“You all served in the army,” he told the protesters. “This is a full wagon, full of talent and creativity and Jewish and humanist values,” he added, alluding to a famous comment by ultra-Orthodox master Rabbi Abraham Yeshayahu Karelitz (Hazon Ish) to Israel’s first prime, David Ben Gurion, that secular Israelis were like an “empty wagon.”
Ronen told the crowd that the “enormous energy that has emerged over the past three years” — since the protests against the judicial overhaul — will in the next election manifest in “a massive show of hope and synergy of people who’ve decided to build themselves and their country.”
“If we keep faithfully charting the same path together, nothing can stop us,” he said to the listening crowd. “You are the new pioneers.”
Additional smaller protests were held in other locations up and down Israel, including in Haifa, Jerusalem and Carmei Gat.
The rally in Carmei Gat, in southern Israel, was a weekly affair organized by members of Kibbutz Nir Oz, which suffered heavy losses in the October 7 massacre. Unlike the other protests, it focused primarily on the last remaining deceased hostage in Gaza, Ran Gvili, and the fight to return his body to Israel.
It was attended by the brother of Hadar Goldin, whose body was returned by Hamas last month, 11 years after he was killed fighting in Gaza, and by Nira Sharabi, the widow of Yossi Sharabi, who was slain in Hamas captivity and his body returned from Gaza in October.
“This is the final stretch of a long and unparalleled struggle,” Sharabi told the crowd, stressing that Israel must not move ahead with the next stages of the US-backed plan for Gaza before Gvili’s body is returned.
“This is an opportunity that will not come again. This is the moment to make sure that no hostage is left behind. That no family is left behind. That our values are not left behind,” she urged. “Only then will the sun be able to set on October 7.”
