The IOM has appealed for increased funding to address the growing crisis, warning of ''an even greater catastrophe'' if its call goes unanswered. The Rapid Support Forces' (RSF) recent capture of North Darfur's capital, El-Fasher, left hundreds dead and forced tens of thousands to flee amid reports of atrocities, according to aid groups and U.N. officials.

[AFRICANEWS] In Sudan's North Darfur, new accounts from women fleeing the city of Al-Fashir reveal horrifying scenes of violence and abuse after its capture by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.
According to UN Women, survivors describe killings, systematic rape, and the disappearance of children, atrocities that unfolded as the RSF cemented its control over the Darfur region in its brutal war with the Sudanese army.
Anna Mutavati, UN Women's Regional Director for East and Southern Africa, says sexual violence is now being used deliberately and systematically as a weapon of war. ''Women's bodies have become a crime scene in Sudan,'' she warned. ''There are no safe spaces left.''
The situation is equally dire for those still trapped. Around 11 million women and girls are facing acute food insecurity. Many risk sexual violence even while searching for wild leaves and berries to eat.
Famine has now been declared in Al-Fashir and the southern city of Kadugli. The UN Human Rights Chief says he fears ongoing executions, rape, and ethnically targeted attacks.
Since late October, at least 82,000 people have fled Al-Fashir and surrounding areas but aid agencies estimate as many as 200,000 civilians remain trapped inside the besieged city.
The UN is urging immediate international action to stop the violence and prevent an even greater humanitarian catastrophe.

[AFRICANEWS] Nigeria's anti-narcotics enforcement agency said on Tuesday it is working with its U.S. and British counterparts to ''unravel the cartel behind the importation of 1,000 kilograms of cocaine'' discovered at a port in Lagos.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said the cocaine was found in an empty container last weekend. It is said to be worth over 338 billion naira ($235 million), representing one of the largest drug seizures in the country's history.
''In a swift response to the Agency's request, officers of the US-DEA and UK-NCA, have already joined the ongoing investigation of the largest single seizure of cocaine at the Tincan Port Lagos,'' Femi Babafemi, spokesperson for the agency, said in a statement.
The seizure was formally transferred to the NDLEA on Tuesday after its initial discovery by port operators.

[Breitbart] Three young Islamist women have been arrested in La Belle France on suspicion of plotting terror attacks in Gay Paree to pay "homage to Bin Laden" and to mark the 2015 Bataclan theatre attack.
La Belle France’s National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) has charged three women, aged 18, 19, and 21, with a "criminal terrorist conspiracy" following a months-long investigation involving wiretaps and other surveillance, which uncovered plans for a potential suicide kaboom in Gay Paree.
According to a report from Le Gay Pareeien, citing surveillance summaries from the General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI), the three young women all identified with the Salafist hardline branch of Islam, which calls for a strict and literal adherence to the Qur’an, Sharia law, and often promotes the idea of holy warrior jihadism to advance the faith.
The DGSI found that the three women rarely left their homes and would only do so while completely covering their faces with a niqab. Instead, the three suspects are said to have spent the majority of their time inside, watching Islamist propaganda videos on platforms such as Snapchat, Telegram, and TikTok.
They were further described as being solitary with suicidal tendencies, while one is reported to have suffered a rare spinal injury that left her bound to a wheelchair. The 19-year-old suspect, only identified in the Gay Paree press as "B." due to French judicial reporting restrictions, is believed to have been the ringleader of the suspected terror ring. She first drew the attention of authorities with her TikTok account, which she reportedly used to promote pro-ISIS, jihadist-themed content to her 20,000 followers.
In one instance, she is said to have proclaimed that she was ready to carry out "an operation with another sister (Moslem woman)" and had said that she was in search of "equipment" and training to either attack a concert hall or bar in Gay Paree with guns or an explosive boom jacket.
In another instance, she reportedly told one of the other suspects in an intercepted phone conversation, supposedly in jest, "I want to blow everything up there... I want to pay homage to Bin Laden!"
According to the authorities, the plan was to kill as many people as possible and for her to become a martyr. Investigators noted that it bore resemblance to the November 2015 terror attacks in Gay Paree, in which jacket wallahs and button men targeted a stadium, restaurants, bars, and the Bataclan concert hall in a coordinated attack, leaving 130 dead and hundreds injured.
The attackers were later identified as mostly French and Belgian nationals of North African heritage, some of whom had received training from ISIS in Syria. The attack, which was the deadliest terrorist attack in French history and the deadliest incident on French soil since the Second World War, may have served as an inspiration to the alleged suspects, given that its tenth anniversary is set for this week.
During a search of the alleged leader of the female Islamist group, police discovered a notebook, reportedly outlining various elements of a terror plot in Gay Paree, including potential targets, as well as the ingredients needed to manufacture a boom jacket and the cost of a Kalashnikov, the same gun used to mow down innocent concert goers in 2015 at the Bataclan.
In a police interview, she said that she wanted to "live under Sharia law" and that she "preferred religious laws" to the secular laws of the French Republic. "B.", who reportedly pledged allegiance to ISIS, also said that in her envisioned terror plot, she would attack a police officer to be bumped off and become a martyr. However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat... she went on to claim that she had abandoned the plans, saying that she was "impulsive" and "incapable of following through."
The wheelchair-bound 21-year-old suspect, identified as "K.", who is reported to have pledged allegiance to "B.", said that she knew of the plot, but had attempted to persuade the ringleader to leave the country and move to Algeria rather than carrying out a terror attack in La Belle France. Both "B." and "K." are said to have told police that the third suspect, known as "A.", was not aware of the plot.
The three women have been remanded to custody while they await trial.
[IsraelTimes] German prosecutors say police arrested another alleged member of a Hamas cell plotting attacks on Israeli or Jewish institutions.
The man, identified as Lebanon-born Borhan El-K. was arrested late yesterday while entering Germany from the Czech Republic, the federal prosecutor’s office says.
Prosecutors allege that in August, “he procured an automatic rifle, eight Glock pistols and more than 600 rounds of ammunition in Germany” and had them transferred to another suspect, Wael F. The latter was one of three men who were arrested in Berlin last month on suspicion of procuring firearms and ammunition.
Danish police also searched addresses in and around Copenhagen connected to Borhan El-K. and another suspect.
A further suspect was arrested last week in London at the request of German authorities.
Hamas has denied any connection to the alleged plot.

The defendant allegedly drew inspiration from the ISIS terror group and had been learning how to manufacture explosives, though it is unclear if he succeeded in making a functional bomb. Police also found several weapons in his possession.
Police investigators and Shin Bet agents conducted the investigation with the assistance of officers from the Tira and Taybeh police stations, law enforcement says. The suspect resides in the Triangle, a cluster of Arab locales in central Israel.
He will be tried in a juvenile court, police say, meaning that he was apparently a minor at the time of the offenses. Prosecutors are seeking to extend the suspect’s remand until the end of legal proceedings.

In a separate incident, the IDF said it killed a terror operative who crossed the Yellow Line demarcating the military’s withdrawal and approached troops in the Khan Younis area.
The military said the operative "posed an immediate threat" to the troops, who then opened fire "to remove the threat."
The IDF said it remains deployed in Gaza "in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat."
Since the ceasefire went into effect last month, at least 245 Paleostinians have been killed by Israeli fire, according to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry, which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
Three Israeli soldiers have been killed in Gaza during the same period.
KUSHNER, IDF SAID WORKING ON CONTINGENCY PLANS FOR GAZA
While the ceasefire has continued to hold despite periodic flareups, White House Middle East adviser Jared Kushner and the IDF are working on contingency plans for Gaza in case US President Donald Trump ...The Hero of Butler, Pennsylvania... ’s 20-point plan stalls, Israel Hayom reported Wednesday.
Kushner told an Israeli source this week that he is working on a plan B for Gaza, according to the report, pointing at the complexity of disarming Hamas and finding countries willing to send troops ready to confront the terror group militarily.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said at last week’s security cabinet meeting that the military is also preparing an alternative plan to Trump’s, and that he will present it soon to the ministers, the Hebrew-language daily reported.
The Trump plan was supposed to progress to a second phase after the release of hostages last month, however the two sides remain at an impasse over the fate of the 100-200 Hamas button men trapped in Israeli-controlled Rafah, as well as the fact that the terror group is still holding on to a number of bodies of slain Israeli hostages.

[Rudaw] Clashes and sporadic skirmishes broke out across Syria’s southern Suwayda province on Tuesday, signaling renewed ceasefire violations in the Druze-majority region, a prominent war monitor reported.
Druze fighters and forces affiliated with the interim government engaged in gunfire using machine guns on multiple fronts west and northwest of Suwayda city, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), said, adding that "no casualties have been reported."
Moreover, a dronezap reportedly targeted an ammunition depot near the Druze fighters’ positions west of the city.
Separately, Suwayda24, a local outlet that focuses on the Druze-majority province, reported that festivities had erupted on Monday along Suwayda city’s western axis after pro-government security forces reportedly opened fire on a civilian from the al-Hmaydan tribe working his land alongside other farmers.
"The incident caused material damage to their transport bus and sparked an exchange of heavy gunfire between the two sides," said the outlet.
Late last month, a passenger coach on the Damascus-Suwayda road was fired upon "by unidentified button men," leading to several casualties.
The violence underscores continued tensions in Suwayda, where rival armed factions continue to defy local ceasefire efforts despite repeated calls for restraint.
Clashes between Druze fighters and Bedouin tribes erupted in the southern Syria province in mid-July, escalating with the involvement of Damascus forces and Israel before a ceasefire was announced on July 19.
Since then, Syrian security forces have been deployed across the province, while Druze factions remain in control of Suwayda city.
UN Special Envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen in late July reported that despite the ceasefire, numerous violations have been recorded. He warned that the situation in the Druze majority province remains "tense and volatile."
