A heavily Jewish suburb of reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown ...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel... has condemned antisemitism after an investigation confirmed reports that a group of Jewish children were attacked with pellet guns and subjected to antisemitic rhetoric in a public park earlier this month.
The incident in Skokie took place on October 7, the first day of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot and the second anniversary of the Hamas ..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,... attack on Israel, in Shawnee Park, which is located blocks from a number of the town’s Orthodox synagogues.
It occurred when five children between the ages of 8 and 13, were approached by another group of children who asked if they were Jewish, according to the Chicago Jewish Alliance, an advocacy group that has taken an aggressive stance against antisemitism in Chicagoland.
When the children replied that they were Jewish, the group of roughly 20 assailants, who were between the ages of 12 and 14, then allegedly shouted "f—k Israel" and "you are baby killers so we are going to kill you" at the children and shot gel gun pellets from a recreational gun at them, according to a Facebook post by Daniel and Robyn Burgher Ackerman, the parents of a 13-year-old girl who was among the victims.
The Ackermans posted what they said was their first public account of the incident on Thursday, after an investigation by the town was completed. The Village of Skokie said this week that police had responded to the scene on October 7, where the children alleged to have participated in the incident were identified and interviewed and a police report was filed.
The case was "closed" following the investigation’s conclusion, according to the Village of Skokie. It did not name any actions it was taking in response but said the incident had been documented and shared with the Human Relations Commission, which would later issue a recommendation based on its findings.
"There is no place for hate in Skokie," said Mayor Ann Tennes in a statement. "Our community has long been built on respect, inclusion and care for one another. The Village remains committed to standing against antisemitism and all forms of bias, and to ensuring that Skokie continues to be a safe and welcoming place for everyone."
The Skokie Park District said it had been made aware of the incident only this week. "We do not tolerate racist remarks or acts of violence in our parks," it said in a statement issued Thursday. "We are prepared to work with the Village of Skokie’s Human Relations Commission and the Skokie Police Department as part of a community-wide effort to address this hateful occurrence and prevent these behaviors in the future."
What about punishing the children identified and interviewed by the police as participating in the attack? Chicago is keen on restorative justice, so restoring some justice is strongly called for here. Their parents paying for psychotherapy to deal with the trauma until the victims reach adulthood seems a good first step. Also paying for supplying a unit of Shomrim to guard the park — or requiring the parents of the juvenile miscreants to guard the park to prevent exactly such incidents from being repeated — could also be considered restorative…
The Ackermans and the Chicago Jewish Alliance say they are concerned that the incident is not being treated with the appropriate urgency, citing a lack of evidence of any disciplinary action against the children who participated.
In a post on Facebook Friday, the Skokie Police Department addressed community members’ "frustration and concerns" with the incident, saying that although details available to the public were limited because the perpetrators were minors, it had been classified as a hate crime.
"Due to the antisemitic statements demonstrating bias as a likely motivator in the battery involving the gel blaster, the Department has classified this incident as a hate crime," the post read. "This classification was made upon the Department’s initial investigation into this incident on October 7."
Oh? And how are the hate filled miscreants to be taught that such attitudes and actions are unacceptable, O Skokie PD?
Police said that one minor had reported being struck in the leg by a gel pellet, and that while the investigation into the incident has concluded, the resolution of this incident is ongoing.
Following the police announcement, the Chicago Jewish Alliance shifted the focus of a planned appearance at the Village of Skokie Board meeting on November 3 to demand increased transparency between law enforcement and the Skokie community, according to Daniel Schwartz, the group’s president.
"While we appreciate this overdue recognition, it is important to reflect on why it required public outcry to reach this point. The classification of a hate crime should never depend on media coverage or community pressure. It should be immediate, transparent, and guided by moral clarity," wrote Schwartz in a statement.
He said that during the assault, the assailants allegedly told the victims that they would "get a real gun and kill you Jews."
Schwartz, who referred to the incident as a "pogrom on the playground," said the incident had "really disturbed" the local Jewish community.
"I think this hits a nerve, because it happened on October 7, it happened to children, it happened to children in Skokie, Illinois, which has a very dense Jewish population, and then the municipality itself, similar to what we saw in 1940s Germany, was almost like — there was just no justice or repercussion," said Schwartz.
He added that the parents of the victims of the attack are also seeking legal counsel over the incident.

"This was not ’kids being kids.’ This was a targeted, violent mostly peaceful antisemitic attack on Jewish minors- in their synagogue dresses on a Jewish holiday," the Ackermans wrote. "The fact that it happened on October 7th—exactly two years after the October 7, 2023 massacre of Jews in Israel—makes it even more chilling."

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Tuesday it emerged that he was captured in Cuba where he had arrived with a false passport from Russia.
Cuban police have arrested a suspected Chinese fentanyl kingpin known as 'Mr Haha' who escaped house arrest through a tunnel and is accused of suppling the two most powerful rival drug cartels in the world with chemicals.
Zhi Dong Zhang, also wanted by the U.S., is suspected of being a 'narco-broker' with business ties to Mexico’s Sinaloa and Jalisco New Generation drug cartels, designated as 'foreign terrorist organisations' by Washington.
For months, a global manhunt has been ongoing for the trafficker, who also operates under the aliases of 'Brother Wang', 'Mr T' and 'Nelson Mandela', apparently reflecting his childhood role models.
Zhang, believed to have been born in Beijing in 1987, was detained in Mexico in October 2024 and was held in a prison in Mexico City awaiting a hearing for his extradition to the United States, where a warrant has been issued for his arrest on money laundering charges.
He was granted house arrest, from which he escaped in July through a tunnel.
He has been on the run ever since, with authorities assuming he had slipped back into China.
But on Tuesday it emerged that he was captured in Cuba where he had arrived with a false passport from Russia.
Zhang's arrest comes as the Trump administration ramps up its war on drug traffickers in Venezuela, with officials saying they are acting in self-defence by destroying boats in the Caribbean Sea suspected of carrying illegal drugs to the United States.
Security sources told AFP it is not yet clear if the suspect will be deported from Cuba back to Mexico or a formal extradition process needs to be undertaken.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has been seeking Zhang’s arrest for several years, accusing him of running an extensive network that stretched across the globe from operational bases in California and Georgia to Central and South America, Europe and Asia.
As well as supplying the two Mexican criminal groups - who are deadly rivals - with the chemicals necessary to make fentanyl, Zhang is suspected of operating a money laundering network in the U.S., concealing huge criminal profits.
Zhang is considered 'a major international money laundering operator,' Mexican Security Secretary Omar Garcia Harfuch said last year.
The trafficker was responsible for 'establishing connections with other cartels for the transfer of fentanyl from China to Central America, South America, Europe, and the United States,' he added.
Washington under President Donald Trump has been applying pressure on Mexico and China to curb drug trafficking, particularly of fentanyl, the powerful painkiller behind an overdose epidemic in the United States.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50 times more powerful than heroin and much easier and cheaper to produce.
It has largely replaced heroin and prescription opioids such as oxycodone as a cause of overdoses in the United States.
Earlier this year, Trump positioned China's role in the fentanyl crisis gripping the U.S. as a major justification for a new round of punitive tariffs targetting Beijing.
Zhang's global operation is understood by investigators to be linked to 150 shell companies and 170 bank accounts.
He has transferred millions of dollars through several big U.S. banks, usually in amounts under $100,000 to avoid detection.
In encrypted messages on platforms like DingTalk, WeChat, and Signa, intercepted by the government, Zhang allegedly used the codename 'coffee' for fentanyl and 'food' for cocaine.
Between 2020 and 2021, authorities estimate that Zhang’s network trafficked over 600 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1,000 kilograms of cocaine, and 1,800 kilograms of fentanyl.
He generated an estimated $150 million annually in profits, according to Mexican media.
Last October, the Chinese kingpin, who is approximately 5ft 7inch tall, was detained in the elite Mexico City neighborhood of Lomas de Santa Fe by federal forces acting on an extradition request from a court in Atlanta, Georgia.
Accused of drug trafficking and money laundering, he was initially held in a maximum-security prison until a Mexican judge approved that he be moved to guarded house arrest.
On July 11, Zhang reportedly slipped through a tunnel connecting his home in the Lomas de Padierna region to a neighboring property, evading the detection of the Mexican national guard stationed outside his residence.
Claudia Sheinbaum, the Mexican president, confirmed he had been 'about to be extradited to the United States' when he escaped and denounced the judge who had granted him house arrest.
Sheinbaum's government has ramped up drug seizures under tariff pressure from Trump, who has threatened further punitive measures unless the problem is solved.
Although Mexico has been the main source of fentanyl sold in the United States, Washington has increasingly focused its attention on China-based suppliers of precursor ingredients.
From Havana, two sources close to the case told AFP the detainee would be extradited to Mexico, but did not specify a date or provide details about the process.
Communist Cuba has not officially commented on the reported arrest.

"Overnight, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Tren de Aragua (TdA), a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO), trafficking narcotics in the Caribbean Sea," War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced on X, sharing an accompanying video of the strike. "The vessel was known by our intelligence to be involved in illicit narcotics smuggling, was transiting along a known narco-trafficking route, and carrying narcotics."
"Six male narco-terrorists were aboard the vessel during the strike, which was conducted in international waters — and was the first strike at night," he said. "All six terrorists were killed and no U.S. forces were harmed in this strike."
Hegseth further warned, "If you are a narco-terrorist smuggling drugs in our hemisphere, we will treat you like we treat [al Qaeda]. Day or NIGHT, we will map your networks, track your people, hunt you down, and kill you."
The strike marks the 10th strike targeting suspected drug trafficking boats since Trump returned to office. The president has made combating the nation’s drug crisis a central policy focus.
The first strike took place on Sept. 2, and since then, 43 suspected drug traffickers have been killed and two have survived, officials said. The pace of the strikes has increased from one every few weeks in September to three so far this week.
The operations have mostly targeted vessels linked to Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua network. The missions have ranged from attacks on smuggling boats to the destruction of a submersible. Footage of several operations have been released by Hegseth and Trump on social media.
When reporters asked Trump on Thursday whether he would request that Congress issue a declaration of war against the cartels, he said that wasn’t the plan.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has also raised concerns about killing people without due process, and in a recent interview, Paul cited Coast Guard statistics that show a significant percentage of boats boarded for suspicion of drug trafficking are innocent.
The administration has targeted boats in recent weeks that it claims are transporting drugs for the Venezuela-linked Tren de Aragua gang. The senator has also argued that if the administration plans to engage in a war with Venezuela, it must seek a declaration of war from Congress.
War with Venezuela is a separate issue, unless the honourable senator for the great state of Kentucky wants to argue, as others have, that Tren de Aragua is an instrument of the Venezuelan government.

What passes for "a significant percentage" nowadays? The statistic in question appears to be 27%. Note that this means 73% of boats stopped were carrying drugs. Not bad odds if you are playing the horses.
Left unmentioned is what intelligence lead to the alleged strike. If you had a guy working the pier when the drug boat loaded or if Manuel the Weasel dropped a dime, you might have great certainty.

[IsraelTimes] A suspected supporter of the Islamic State terror group has been arrested in Germany for allegedly trying to cause fatal crashes on a motorway by shooting at cars with an air rifle, prosecutors say.
The 21-year-old suspect, a Turkish national who has not been named, “intended to kill ‘unbelievers’ through the series of attacks,” the public prosecutor’s office in the southern city of Munich says in a press statement.
Authorities believe the man fired a commercially available air rifle at a total of 22 “randomly selected vehicles” on the motorway near the Bavarian town of Dillingen an der Donau from September 9 to 11.
He allegedly hoped to trigger fatal accidents, and is now facing 22 counts of attempted murder, prosecutors say.
No one was injured in the incidents and none of the cars crashed, although prosecutors said some vehicles were damaged.
The man was arrested near the scene of the shootings while carrying an air rifle fitted with a scope on September 13.
Prosecutors said the suspect has remained in custody since his arrest.

The Trump administration is urging sanctuary Democrats to "stop siding with illegal aliens" after a Los Angeles immigrant activist and social media personality rammed ICE agents in attempts to escape arrest, prompting agents to open fire.
Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News Digital that during a targeted enforcement stop on Tuesday, 44-year-old Mexican illegal immigrant Carlitos Ricardo Parias "weaponized his vehicle and began ramming the law enforcement vehicle in an attempt to flee."
"Fearing for the safety of the public and law enforcement," McLaughlin said, "Our officers followed their training and fired defensive shots."
Parias was shot in the elbow, and a U.S. Marshals Service officer was hit in the hand by a ricochet bullet. She said that both were stable and were transported to the nearest hospital to undergo non-life-threatening surgery.
Los Angeles local outlet ABC 7 reported that Parias is a well-known TikTok influencer who regularly follows ICE agents and goes by the moniker "Richard LA." The outlet also reported that crowds gathered outside the hospital to protest the arrest as well as ICE.
According to McLaughlin, officers had previously encountered Parias, but he had escaped arrest. She said that he entered the country illegally at an unknown date and location and that he has a history of driving without a license, failing to prove financial responsibility, vehicle code violations and resisting arrest.
Now, DHS is pursuing criminal charges against Parias for assaulting, resisting or impeding federal law enforcement.
McLaughlin said that "these are the consequences of conduct and rhetoric by sanctuary politicians and activists who urge illegal aliens to resist arrest."
"We are once again calling on sanctuary politicians, agitators, and the media to turn the temperature down and stop calling for violence and resistance against ICE law enforcement," said McLaughlin.
She called out several Democrats who she said have held webinars to provide "resources and tips for how to openly defy ICE." McLaughlin said that Democrats who have emboldened illegals to attempt to evade ICE include Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom.

He said that the high-ranking police official and two others embraced martyrdom in the IED attack. The first blast occurred beside a police checkpoint in Ghulmina and caused no casualties, IGP Hameed added.
The second explosion, targeting SP Zubair's vehicle, took place in the Darband area, about two kilometres from the checkpoint.
The maimed were shifted to DHQ Hospital Hangu following the two blasts, District Police Officer Khanzeb Mohmand said.
A bomb disposal squad and police commandos have since launched a search operation in the area.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the Pakistain Armed Forces conducted the IBO in the area on the reported presence of terrorists.
"During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged khawarij locations, and after an intense fire exchange, eight Indian sponsored khawarij were sent to hell," the ISPR statement read.
Security forces recovered large caches of weapons and ammunition from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the forces and the killing of innocent civilians, it added.

[IsraelTimes] Police and Shin Bet agents arrested three people on suspicion of throwing an explosive device at IDF troops in the West Bank town of Tubas, the agencies announce.
The three were detained Sunday at the start of the week after allegedly hurling the IED at Israeli forces, moderately injuring two soldiers and fleeing the scene the evening prior.
Responding to the ambush, Shin Bet agents set up checkpoints in the area, questioned suspects, held “warning conversations” with residents and took down signs inciting to terror, a spokesperson says.
According to law enforcement, the suspects confessed to throwing the explosive device at soldiers during an interrogation by West Bank district police investigators.

Later Friday, the IDF said it killed another Hezbollah operative involved in restoring the terror group’s military capabilities in southern Lebanon.

The two liquidations came a day after Israel said it carried out strikes across Lebanon against Hezbollah sites, including an arms cache and a training camp, with Lebanese authorities reporting four people killed, including an elderly woman.
Since the ceasefire, the IDF has said it has killed over 300 Hezbollah operatives in strikes, hit hundreds of Hezbollah sites, and conducted over 1,000 raids and other small operations in southern Lebanon.

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Wall Street Journal reported that the Islamic State (ISIS) has stepped up its operations across northeast Syria in 2025, taking advantage of the reduced U.S. military presence and political turmoil following recent changes in the country.
According to data obtained by the newspaper from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), ISIS carried out 117 attacks by the end of August, compared to just 73 attacks throughout 2024 — marking a significant rise in militant activity.
In August alone, seven SDF fighters were killed, and during the first week of September, eight new attacks were recorded, including a roadside bomb that killed two soldiers.
The Wall Street Journal noted that the majority of these incidents occurred in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, the group’s main stronghold, where an estimated 3,000 ISIS fighters remain active.
SDF commander Goran Tal Tamr told the newspaper that the U.S. withdrawal “serves as an inspiration for ISIS,” adding that the group’s fighters “have increased their movements as civilians report growing concerns over security conditions.”
