The report by Defence-Network said a recently signed security cooperation agreement between Israel and the self-declared republic would pave the way for Israeli naval forces to use Somaliland’s coastline, enabling them to monitor activities by Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... ’s Iran's Houthi sock puppets ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat rational. The new Dolphin Class submarines are a massive development for the Israeli navy, as this new type of submarine is much faster and more agile than the older submarines. It is even believed that these new submarines will have vertical launch capabilities and could carry nuclear weapons. The navy expects this new submarine to be very effective in combatting Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, in the Gaza Strip.
This is a fascinating development in naval warfare, and we hope to see more dramatic innovations from the Israeli Navy in the future!

Israel has 3 Dolphin 1's and 3 Dolphin 2's. Figure 1 is always in heavy maintenance, 1 recovering from cruise and 1 preparing to cruise. That leaves 3 to "operate." Odds that the Israeli's would position one to Somaliland are slim given that is their primary "second strike" asset.

A quick internet search on the subject revealed an annoying lack of information on the progress of this story from yesterday, other than that some of the five injured were Moslem. Hopefully it is only because it was Sunday, and there will be more reported today. I have the impression, for instance, that the miscreant was somewhat under the influence of a great deal of whiskey, but that is not my area of expertise. I participated in the Inquiry’s evidence-gathering process: spending an hour answering questions from presiding barrister Graham Smith and rape gang survivor Sammy Woodhouse about my reporting on the gangs, international Islamic smuggling networks targeting British women and girls, and the ideological capture of the Home Office by Islamic groups. (Given the latter is entrusted with supervising the Labour government’s series of forthcoming statutory local inquiries, as well as immigration and policing.)
I don’t know if the Inquiry team plans to release any more footage from the hearings, but if it becomes available, I will post it here in full.
I also supplied a 68-page report to assist the team. It provided an overview of some of the available data from previous inquiries, studies, and reports by organisations like the National Crime Agency. It also contained excerpts from trial reporting, statements from subject matter experts, and quotes from interviews with members of the Pakistani community, to provide insight into the motives of the abuse.
Some, like Open Justice campaigner Adam Wren, have made good-faith criticisms of the inquiry’s conclusions: questioning the projected figure of 250,000 victims, and contesting the emphasis placed on Islam as a motivator for the abuse rather than as a “social glue and vocabulary” shared by the perpetrators.
I would like to make clear that, in my contributions to the inquiry, clan morality, ethnic solidarity, and cousin marriage — all of which predate, and are consolidated by, Islam — featured heavily as an aggravating and explanatory factor in the abuse. I was not involved in writing, editing, or proofreading the final published report.

While I hope my contributions helped the team form their conclusions, it appears much of what I submitted didn’t make it into the final report. That’s understandable, as the Inquiry wanted to focus on telling the story of survivors instead.
This submission is an incomplete record of all the previous available reporting on the rape gangs. I had limited preparation time, and prepared it in my own time, at my own expense, independent of the Inquiry team’s efforts. I have since done some more reporting on previous inquiries and the history of the rape gangs scandal, which is available here.
The opening paragraphs of the report:
WEST YORKSHIRE CHILD SEXUAL GROOMING AND EXPLOITATION OFFENCES PERPETRATOR AND VICTIM DATA (2025)
• May 2025 – New data procured from West Yorkshire Police via Freedom of Information Access (FOI) request provided the ethnicity for victims and suspects of the 7,100 of 88A Sexual Grooming and child sexual exploitation offences, under Section 15 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, recorded across its five districts: Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, and Wakefield. These offences occurred between 1 January 2009 - 31 December 2024, and involved 7,121 victims and 5,508 named suspects.
Bradford district recorded the highest number of offences, at 2,419 — 34.1% of the total. Leeds followed with 1,601 (22.5%); Kirklees with 1,547 (21.8%); Wakefield with 803 (11.3%); and Calderdale with 730 (10.3%). 1,272 charges were filed, providing a 17.9% charge rate.
Asian Pakistani suspects were 21.48% (1,183) of all suspects, with a rate of 507.7 suspects per 100,000 people in West Yorkshire. Asian Bangladeshis had a lower rate, at 0.89% (49) of suspects, and a rate of 408.3 per 100,000. “Other” (Arab, Middle Eastern, Latin American, etc.) suspects were 0.96% (53) of
suspects, but had the highest per capita rate of the data set, at 530 suspects per 100,000. This is despite those identifying as Asian or Asian British making up only 16% of the population across West Yorkshire’s districts, and 10% of the overall population of England, according to 2021 Census data.
White British suspects were underrepresented at 44.54% (2,454) of suspects, despite being 74.4% of the population of England and Wales. (West Yorkshire authorities do not provide a breakdown of the total White population by ethnicity, save Bradford district, which was 56.7% White British as of the
2021 Census.) White British suspects also had the lowest per capita offending rate at 155.3 suspects per 100,000 people. Black African and Caribbean suspects were 1.83% (101) of all suspects, but had the third highest per capita offending rate of 459.1 per 100,000.
In total, non-White British suspects account for 55.46% of suspects, despite making up only 26% of the national population. This yields an offending-rate twice that per-capita than their White British counterparts. However, 6.4% suspects (355) had their ethnicity marked as “Not Stated”, and 13% suspects (715) as “Not Recorded”. This comprises almost a fifth of suspects. This takes the maximum total potential share of Asian offenders to 42.73% — a rate 2-to-4 times their share of the national population.
Among victims, White British account for 55.6% (3,960), making up the largest ethnic group in absolute terms. However, they are outnumbered on a per-capita basis (at 250.6 victims per 100,000) by Black African and Other Black victims, who comprised 0.88% (63) of victims, but had a per-capita rate of 1,260 per 100,000. Those of Mixed ethnic backgrounds comprised 1.75% (124) of victims, at a per-capita rate of 425.4 per 100,000. Despite being the largest ethnic group among perpetrators, Asian Pakistanis comprised only 2.96% (211) of victims, at a per capita rate of 90.6 per 100,000 people. The data indicates that the majority of these crimes occur across, rather than within, ethnic groups.
19.2% (1,366) of victims also had their ethnicity recorded as “Not Stated”, and 15.4% (1,095) as “Not Recorded”.1 This comprises a third of victims. Shadow Minister for Policy Renewal and Development,Neil O’Brien MP and documented the proportion of child sexual abuse offences where the ethnicity of the perpetrator is not recorded has increased from 11.6% in 2010 to 28.7% in 2024, despite the age and sex of the perpetrator being recorded in the majority of cases.
• Pakistanis represent the second largest immigrant-origin ethnic group in Britain. More than 679,000 ethnic Pakistanis live in Britain, as of the last Census.
Sammy Woodhouse was fourteen years old when she says she was handed over to the police by the man who was abusing her. The scene, as later reported, is almost too farcical to put to paper. A child had gone missing from her home with Arshid Hussain, one of the men who would later become infamous as part of the Rotherham grooming-gang scandal. According to the allegations reported in court and by the press, Hussain was contacted and told to bring her back. He drove her to a petrol station where the police were waiting. Hussain knew there was an agreement that he would not be arrested.
This is the sort of episode that ought to have erupted into a national scandal inside any functioning public system. Instead, a child was handed over to police by way of a backroom deal with her abuser, on the condition of no arrest. All details were kept secret. There were no records. No institutional memory or bravery to force the truth into the open.
In the reporting of this story, one man’s name appears and reappears: Jahangir Akhtar. Akhtar was the former deputy leader of Rotherham Council, a local Labour power broker, community relations figure, and a distant relative of the Hussain family. The victim of this incident directly alleged that a town councillor — by the surname Akhtar — had also raped her. Another victim alleged it was this councillor who had been involved with the brokering of the no-prosecution deal.
Akhtar denied any wrongdoing. The police, in fact, said he had no case to answer. The official record did not establish that he committed a criminal offence. But what is certainly established when reading the record is that he was far from peripheral to Rotherham’s world.
By his own account, Akhtar entered public life through community tension. He approached his councillor, Nazir Ahmed — made a life peer in 1998 — and was encouraged to gather support to address community cohesion at a higher level. A brief word on Lord Ahmed is warranted. Ahmed is a rather curious character: a property developer and Labour councillor who has been involved in various charities, has connections to Sayeeda Warsi (the daughter of a close friend, and for whom he allegedly campaigned in Dewsbury in 2005, despite Warsi standing as a Conservative), has continually lobbied on behalf of Pakistan over Kashmir (as well as maintaining a more general involvement in Pakistani politics), and was convicted for dangerous driving in 2009 — a conviction which he blamed on ‘the Jews’ in an interview on Pakistani television in 2013, leading to his long overdue resignation from the Labour Party. But perhaps most pertinently of all, Ahmed was also convicted in 2022 of historic sex offences which took place between 1971 and 1974 when he was still a teenager living in Rotherham: two charges of attempted rape, and one charge of indecent assault. In 2020, a House of Lords committee also recommended Ahmed’s expulsion from the House of Lords after a separate complaint that he had sexually exploited a woman who had approached him in his capacity as a member of the House, though he resigned before he could be expelled.
Much has been said of the biraderi (or baraderi), clan dimension to South Asian local politics recently, and it is impossible to understand the political dynamics that led to the rise of figures like Ahmed and Akhtar without understanding biraderi. While this has become a more salient factor in political discourse by virtue of the breakaway of certain heavily Muslim constituencies to the so-called ‘Gaza Independents’ since 2024, in reality, it has been a known and relevant fact of local party politics for many decades. Academic interest in the phenomenon began to pick up in the 2010s as the surprise victory of George Galloway in the Bradford West by-election revealed that minority votes were not exclusively determined by individual loyalties to the Labour Party. In fact, it turned out that ‘elders’ and ‘community leaders’ were incentivised by established local politicians to make ethnicity-based and religion-based claims for their communities, and these ‘elders’ and ‘community leaders’ could return them with bloc votes — from which the victory of Galloway’s Respect and the more recent Muslim First parties are an aberration. This patronage system made such constituencies effectively unpollable, each a black box with dynamics comprehensible only to those with local knowledge.
We should be clear that Akhtar has not been convicted of any crimes — besides his 2002 conviction for violent affray — and, unlike Ahmed, has never achieved national prominence. Perhaps because awareness of biraderi has grown, the Labour Party has seemingly become somewhat embarrassed, rather than proud, of this type of local ‘community figure’, and is therefore increasingly averse to drawing any more attention to their existence than is strictly necessary. Nonetheless, Akhtar and Ahmed do share some uncanny similarities in their life stories. Both sit at the intersection of politics, the police, minority community organisations, local youth, and public money. It is rather fitting that Akhtar’s involvement with Ahmed directly led to the Rotherham Civil Rights Group, which brought together the council, police and young people, and seems to have been the first step in propelling Akhtar to serious positions of power in Rotherham. Akhtar later described the campaign for what became the Unity Centre as one of his proudest early achievements.
It cannot be emphasised enough that Akhtar was not an ordinary councillor. In a town anxious about racial tensions, a man like Akhtar became useful. The Casey Report, published in 2015, notes that he was relied upon by the council for ‘difficult issues’. For example, he was able to prevent ‘Asian’ men from coming out onto the streets when the English Defence League (EDL) marched in the town. He records himself as having attended a Hope Not Hate dinner at the 2009 Labour Party Conference, and having delivered over 800 leaflets for the organisation in May that year.
It was at the altar of ‘community relations’ that, in Rotherham alone, over a thousand mostly white working-class girls were sacrificed. It is worth noting that one of the ringleaders of the Rochdale grooming gang, Shabir Ahmed, was employed by Oldham Council as a welfare rights officer concurrent with his criminal activities. Akhtar’s charity connections are also particularly interesting — the Unity Centre and the Rotherham Ethnic Minority Alliance (which he directed with fellow councillor Shaukat Ali) sat firmly within the web of community relations infrastructure. The Unity Centre itself was incubated with Council money and support, and REMA rented space in the Centre for its purposes. The incestuous relationship between the Council and the charities it funded raises many questions.
Akhtar seems to have been everywhere. A career taxi driver, by 2008, he was, among other things, in charge of taxi licensing in the town. In 2012, he inexplicably secured a position as vice-chairman of the Police & Crime panel, which was tasked with scrutinising the local force. Numerous reports describe Akhtar as having had ‘influence over the police’. A strange position indeed for a man convicted of violent affray in 2002. Interestingly, it is noted in a Guardian piece that he was able to avoid a prison sentence not only for his community relations work, but because he had ‘been given glowing references, including an accolade from a former police commander in Rotherham’. A small WordPress news blog local to Rotherham, meanwhile, alleged that Akhtar had continually threatened them with legal action and coordinated harassment by taxi drivers in a bid to silence their reporting of the facts of his conviction and conduct as a Labour councillor. Despite the conviction, the Casey report noted there was no serious debate about whether Akhtar was a fit and proper person to be on the council. His influence seems only to have grown from there.
By the time of the Casey Report in 2015, it was noted that many officials spoke of him ‘with fear’. They were worried that the evidence they gave for the report would get back to him and that they would face repercussions. It was noted that whenever issues affecting those of Pakistani heritage were brought up, he and fellow councillor Mahroof Hussain would suppress much discussion, for ‘fear of upsetting community relations’. It came to the point that when the relationship between taxi drivers (who in Rotherham were overwhelmingly of Pakistani origin) and Child Sexual Exploitation was raised in meetings, the issue was suppressed in light of this fear. This should be astonishing to anyone putting the facts of the Rotherham story together.
The story of Rotherham and the grooming gangs is partly one of state failure. Too many looked the other way. No single politician, council worker, or policeman was prosecuted for their role in the scandal, either in Rotherham or elsewhere. In Telford, where authorities repeatedly turned a blind eye and emboldened offenders, and Oldham, where ‘fears of the far right’ led to accusations of deliberate cover-up, the people in charge failed, if not outright facilitated, the abuse of thousands of children. This issue persists across the country.

That'd make him a good Scotsman, not a miscreant. I take it no mention was made about how the "Asian" man provoked the Scotsman but I think there must have been some provocation. I'm guessing the "Asian" man was emboldened into thinking he could get away with it and the Scotsman thought otherwise.

It is the result of a private, "independent" investigation, initiated and politically directed personally by Rupert Lowe and his team.
The investigation was crowdfunded: according to public records, over 20,000 donors participated in the campaign, raising over £600,000. The investigation has received no approval from the House of Commons, the Home Office, or any other official body.
That’s because they really, really don’t want to officially know. Unofficially, Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer was neck deep in covering up those rapes when he was the English equivalent of the Attorney General, so having an official investigation would go against his personal as well as professional interest. There have been repeated attempts at reports on the subject over the past two generations, each sidelined and/or buried by the authorities in turn. This is what evil looks like.
The 218-page report was published via private hosting services. It includes victim testimony collected by Lowe's team during the hearings, as well as data from Freedom of Information requests and analysis of previously published official investigations—such as reports on the activities of abusers in Rotherham, Rochdale, and Telford.
On June 1, the British Parliament held an official debate on data transparency and statistics in Westminster Hall. Lowe turned the session into a political presentation of his report: he read out in detail, with clear intent to shock, the most harrowing testimonies from his own victims—reports of gang rape, torture, death threats, and videotaping.
All this created the illusion for outside viewers that the British Parliament was "officially acknowledging" and voicing the "truth about Muslim rape gangs." In reality, Parliament merely provided a platform for one specific MP to read the materials of his own investigation.
This tactic was deliberately chosen. The parliamentary rostrum lends any speech additional symbolic weight; such addresses visually and emotionally engage the audience, blurring the line between the statement of a single politician and the position of the state.
THREE IDEOLOGICAL IMPRINTS
The document is built around several central claims, each of which bears the imprint of the ideological agenda of Lowe and his Restore Britain party.
First, the scale of the phenomenon. The report's authors claim that up to 250,000 girls across Britain may have fallen victim to organized sexual exploitation—a figure extrapolated from data from previous investigations in Rotherham, Rochdale, and Telford.
An estimate, when we know that the authorities — police, social workers and other charity workers, churches and schools, and so forth — refused to record many complaints. Nobody knows how many more there might be.
However, the document also stipulates that "the actual scale cannot be accurately determined due to inconsistent data collection and historical underreporting." This is not a documented figure, but an estimated one.
Just so.
Secondly, the vast geography. According to politicians, traces of such groups' activities have been discovered in at least 85, and according to other sources, in 149 local administrative districts across the country.
Third, special attention is paid to the ethnic and religious background of the perpetrators. The report's authors cite an analysis of court cases, according to which approximately 87% of those convicted in major gang-exploitation cases have "distinctly Muslim names," and conclude that those from Pakistani-Muslim backgrounds play a disproportionate role.
It is this thesis that is fundamental to the entire political structure of the report: the ethnic and religious identity of criminals is presented as the key cause of systemic crimes.
From these assertions, Lowe builds a broad indictment: Britain became vulnerable due to multiculturalism, mass immigration, and the elites' fear of accusations of racism. The report bluntly states: "Political correctness, fear of accusations of racism, and the fear of losing the electoral support of certain demographic groups trumped the protection of British children."
Everyone who hasn't called a spade a spade is guilty of this logic: the police, social services, schools, hospitals, journalists and, separately, successive governments, both Labour and Conservative.
THE FIGHT FOR THE ELECTORATE
Rupert Lowe is the founder of the new right-wing Restore Britain party, formed in December 2025 following his departure from Nigel Farage's Reform Party. The party positions itself as more right-wing than traditional parties and emphasizes strict controls on immigration, deportations, the "cultural restoration" of Britain, and a war on the "politically correct elites."
The two parties will need to support each other lest they split the vote and put one of the two current major parties back in power.
The topic of organized pedophilia occupies a central place in this agenda: it acts as an emotional trigger, mobilizing the electorate, who are told that “the system has betrayed children for the sake of immigrants and the Islamic lobby.”
At the same time, an official National Inquiry into Gang Violence is underway in Britain, led by Baroness Anne Longfield. This is a three-year team-led process with approved terms of reference, government-defined terms of reference, and a budget of £65 million. It uses a different methodology, uses more cautious language, and generates significantly less media attention.
Three years, no output. A person might become suspicious about the intended outcome.
This comparison is revealing: the official process is virtually invisible in the media, while shocking quotes from Lowe's report instantly spread around the world.
Child sexual abuse is an extremely charged topic, so many are simply afraid to ask clarifying questions. After all, "excessive" attention to questions of methodology and sampling, as well as the politicization of the discussion, can lead to very unpleasant suspicions of bias or, worse, personal interest in a particular interpretation, which can be fraught with serious reputational damage.
This is precisely why such a report is an ideal tool and weapon in the battle for the electorate: it combines the real pain of victims, documented failures of state institutions, and a pre-written policy conclusion, which leads to one thing: a radical rightward turn in immigration policy, policing, and a change in cultural norms.
The Rape Gang Inquiry Report is a truly important policy document. The Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy chokepoint through which around a fifth of global energy exports normally pass, was restricted to maritime traffic at the start of the six-week war between the US, Israel, and Iran in late February.
Iran and the US signed a memorandum of understanding last week, which calls for the immediate reopening of the waterway. The strait was reopened following the fragile deal but Iran said late Saturday that it had once again closed it citing violation of the agreement by the US and its regional ally, Israel.
Washington denied the claim, saying the waterway remains open and under its control.
Iraq, which exported more than 90 percent of its crude oil through maritime shipping before the war, was heavily impacted by the disruption.
Rikabi stated on Sunday that Iraq's crude oil exports exceeded 3 million barrels per day before the conflict.
The dramatic decline in oil exports has pushed Iraq to seek alternative routes, including through the Kurdistan Region's pipeline to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... and overland routes through Syria.
Regarding exports through the Kurdistan-Ceyhan pipeline, the spokesperson said, "we have a plan to increase these exports, especially after the completion of the Basra-Haditha pipeline, which increased the volume of oil transported from the southern regions to the northern regions to 2 million barrels."

Iraq exports nearly 90 percent of its oil through its southern ports, which have a monthly export capacity of around 92 million barrels. Exports have fallen sharply since late February, dropping to just 10 million barrels in April.

In the upcoming school year, Israeli middle schoolers will start learning English through artificial intelligence, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Education Minister Yoav Kisch said on June 11.
Netanyahu and Kisch made the announcement during a visit to the Dekel Vilnai Middle School in the settlement of Ma’ale Adumim, just east of Jerusalem in the West Bank.
The announcement comes a month after it emerged that only 22 percent of Israeli ninth graders met the requirements of the English language curriculum in Israel in the exams conducted last year by the National Authority for Educational Measurement and Evaluation (RAMA).
The school was one of 28 that took part in a nationwide pilot testing an AI-powered system as part of the Education Ministry’s national initiative for personalized learning through technology.
“This is one of the most significant and ambitious revolutions ever carried out in the education system,” Kisch said. “It will enable every student to learn according to their own capabilities, pace of progress, and personal needs.”
“This move places Israel at the forefront of the world’s leading nations in integrating AI into education, representing a national jump forward in preparing the next generation for a changing world,” he added.
The initiative is called Project 720, and according to the ministry, the name “reflects its unique philosophy: 720 Degrees — representing 360 degrees around the student and 360 degrees around the teaching staff.”
“We are shifting from a one-size-fits-all teaching model to a reality where every student has the opportunity to learn in a way that suits them, while maintaining high academic standards and developing the skills required for a changing world,” said Meirav Zarviv, deputy director general of the Innovation and Technology Administration, the ministry’s branch responsible for the program, according to a statement.
“Simultaneously, we provide teachers with advanced tools, data, and support, allowing them to focus on personal mentorship and pedagogical leadership,” she added.
However, many questions remain unanswered.

‘IT’S JUST ANOTHER BAND-AID’
For years, the education system has struggled with a shortage of qualified English teachers.
“The easiest thing is to throw the kids in front of screens,” said an English teacher from northern Israel interviewed by Haaretz. “That’s not how you learn a language. There is no substitute for learning in front of a teacher, especially at this age.”
“It’s just another band-aid for the real problem: there are not enough teachers,” he said.
In 2024, a State Comptroller’s report denounced a shortage of English teachers and found that some 40% of the 19,000 English teachers in the public school system had not been formally trained.
According to Zarviv, the ministry intends to invest in teachers so they can drive learning.
“Our approach is: teachers first,” she told Haaretz. “Most of the budget is intended for training.”
At the same time, a question remains about who will provide the devices for each middle schooler.
According to the Education Ministry’s statement, Project 720 is conducted “in collaboration with leading figures from high-tech, industry, and academia,” as part of “a concerted effort to bridge the gap between the education system and the skills and competencies required in the future job market.”
Asked which tech companies are involved in the project, the ministry declined to answer.
Haaretz reported that Google and Microsoft have both been partners.

Trump and US Vice President JD Vance have both repeatedly complained about Israel’s conduct in the Lebanon conflict, portraying it as a possible spoiler of the talks with Iran. Trump lashed out at Hezbollah in a social media post earlier on Sunday, but has chided Israel both for civilian casualties in its Lebanon strikes, and for not defeating Hezbollah quickly enough.
He repeated those sentiments in an interview with Fox News on Sunday, saying he is "disappointed Israel can’t put Hezbollah away."
"They can’t do anything without knocking buildings down," the president added. Then, referring to the fight against Hezbollah, he said, "I’m close to giving it over to Syria."
But Sharaa, who has been focused on rebuilding Syria and gaining domestic and international legitimacy since his Islamist forces ousted longtime ruler Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Supressor of the Damascenes... in late 2024, rejected the idea of Syrian forces going to war against Hezbollah, a former Assad ally.

The post notably did not place blame on Israel. The US-Iran memorandum of understanding signed last week, which Israel was not party to, calls for a ceasefire in Lebanon, though the US has not called on Israel to withdraw from its buffer zone there, as Iran has. A truce has appeared to hold in Lebanon since Saturday.
NETANYAHU DEFENDS BUFFER ZONE: ’WHAT WOULD AMERICA DO?’
Netanyahu, meanwhile, issued another defense of Israel’s security zone in southern Lebanon. His remarks came as reports on Channel 12 and Haaretz said Israel was considering partial withdrawals from the Lebanese territory it holds.
"As long as we need to protect our people, we will remain in the security zone in south Lebanon. And the reason is perfectly understood. No country would be asked to do otherwise," the premier said, speaking at the Jewish News Syndicate International Policy Summit in Jerusalem.
He argued that the US would act the same way Israel does if it were confronted with terrorist threats on its borders.
"What would America do? Would it say, well, there’s nothing we can do? Let’s hold our fire? Is that what America would say? No! You know damn well what America would do. It would cross the border, create a security zone, kill the terrorists, and protect its people until the threat is removed. That’s exactly what we are doing."
Following the rebukes from Trump and Vance, Netanyahu claimed that no army "goes to such lengths like the Israeli army to target forces of Evil and minimize civilian casualties."
"We target the terrorists, but there are some civilian casualties in every such war, in every such urban warfare. And normally the ratio of noncombatants to combatants killed is about seven to one, eight to one," he continued. He added that, according to the research arm of the Defense Ministry, Israel’s ratio in Lebanon is one civilian killed for every five combatants, which he called an "unheard of" achievement.
"We should be commended for it, not condemned. We do everything in our power to protect our people. We don’t have a war with Lebanon. We have a war with Hezbollah, who terrorizes Lebanon and seeks our destruction," he said.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi claimed in a post to X that 'a major reconstruction and development plan for Iran has been launched.' He also claimed that sanctions on Iranian oil have been waived and some of the country's assets had been unfrozen.
A statement from mediators Pakistan and Qatar said the cell would include the Lebanese government and would 'ensure the adherence of the termination of military operations in Lebanon.' But it remains unclear whether that will be enough to stop fighting between the Iranian-backed militia Hezbollah and Israel, which occupies Lebanon and insists it must maintain a free hand to attack militants who are launching attacks into northern Israel.
First came the endless missiles and rockets shot into Israel by Hezbollah, then Israel took a security strip to reduce the worst of it. Order of operations matters.
The talks marked the start of a 60-day diplomatic process that seeks to reach a permanent deal to end the Iran war. But the fighting in Lebanon remains one of the key sticking points.

Tehran officials backed out of negotiations earlier on Sunday after discussions entered a 'difficult phase' after just 80 minutes of talks, according to Iranian state media.
Tehran's chief negotiator Mohammed Ghalibaf also warned that the US should be cautious with its statements: 'We do not take American threats into account.'
'They would do better to be careful with their statements; our armed forces are ready to respond to them in a different manner. No matter what they say, we are the ones who act.'
The collapse in talks comes shortly after the US and Iran signed a fragile interim deal on Wednesday to end the war. It gives the two countries 60 days to negotiate a deal to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and establish a path forward on Iran's nuclear program.
Vance was attempting to downplay the intensity of the fighting in Lebanon during Sunday morning's negotiations, minutes before Trump renewed threats of bombing Iran if the country does not rein in Hezbollah and the militant group's strikes against Israel.
Trump disclosed that he told Iranian officials: 'You close the strait and you won't have a country.
'You won't even make it back to your f****** country ... we'll take over the rest of the country,' he added, according to Fox News.

Hours before, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran will maintain its right to a nuclear program.
'What is certain is that we will never back down from the right to enrich uranium, and the other side is also forced to accept it,' Pezeshkian said on Sunday, according to Iran's state media.
Trump also criticized Israel, saying the country 'can't do anything without blowing up buildings' in its fight against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Tehran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Saturday declared the waterway shut once again in response to Israeli strikes in Lebanon, after opening it under the MOU. The US military said commercial vessels were still operating.
Among the ships that exited the strait on Saturday, three of them were VLCCs carrying crude from the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Iraq while there were also three tankers carrying various oil products, the data shows.
A total of 13 ships entered the strait on Saturday, including two VLCCs, the data shows.
Gulf producers Abu Dhabi National Oil Co and Kuwait Petroleum Corp have issued tenders selling crude with the option of loading from inside and outside the Strait of Hormuz.

I saw comments on X last week that said the reason the Iranians sent so many people to the talks was that even the IRGC has factions and the factions don't trust each other.

Iran remains an enigma. I do believe it is their strong ties to the City of London bankers. Why we cant do to Iran what we did in Venezuela confounds me and don't know what to make of it, other than to tie it back to the bankers and the globalists that support them. Seems like there was a plan for Venezuela, but for Iran - the plan only involves threatening to blow them up back to the stone age.

From what I can tell at the Hormuz Ship Monitoring website, is that there has been traffic both into and out of the Persian Gulf today.
Doesn't look like pre Feb2026 traffic but there does seem to be some.
