[BEE] SACRAMENTO, CA — California Governor Gavin Newsom announced on Friday that he would be signing a law reinstating the death penalty for anyone caught investigating fraud in the state.
"We cannot let this happen, not here," Newsom told the press. "Investigating fraud is not just immoral, it's evil and steals taxpayer dollars from hardworking fraudsters. Not on my watch, man."
The announcement came after investigative journalist Nick Shirley revealed massive amounts of fraud in California, primarily in the healthcare industry. State officials were outraged to learn that fraud investigations were going on right under their noses and vowed to prosecute anyone trying to expose government waste in the Golden State.
"We will prosecute anyone investigating fraud, and I propose they be sentenced to death," Newsom elaborated. "We would never consider executing someone for murder or rape or anything like that. But investigating fraud is too depraved. It must be met with the harshest penalty."
State officials announced that they were committed to rooting out any hint of fraud investigations and announced plans to dedicate significant resources to their hunt.
At publishing time, Newsom announced that Nick Shirley had been arrested and would be hanged in the California Capitol at dawn.

This is all absurdly dire. Elon Musk is about to flood the labor market with Optimus 3 by the end of 2026 starting with 1,000,000 units a year. So there will be no labor shortage ever again, not ever.
Now that Trump is cutting off student loans for useless degrees, human capital will be increasingly less misdirected and more productive lives will result.

Anti-Castro armed units were formed, among other things, by young Cubans. The Eisenhower administration promised them American student visas and full legalization for all family members who had fled to the United States. But the core of the "guerrillas" were mercenaries.
By the fall of 1960, CIA Director Allen Dulles' office had concluded that disparate guerrilla groups would be difficult to manage. The Operation Pluto plan called for a large force to be deployed for the invasion.
The militants, trained in CIA camps in Nicaragua, Guatemala and in the United States itself (in New Orleans and Florida - in Miami and Fort Myers), were brought together into a brigade of 1,500 people.
To deliver the landing force, a CIA naval task force was formed in the Nicaraguan port of Puerto Cabezas. It was assigned five civilian vessels previously "confiscated" in Cuba and seven US Navy ships—five tank landing ships and two infantry landing ships.

But Kennedy vetoed the air attack at the last minute. However, the Cuban Air Force aircraft, which were never destroyed, did their job.
Diver Eduardo Sayas-Basan, who participated in the invasion, recalled : during the firefight, a B-26 bomber appeared on the shore. THE DECEIVER AND THE THIEF
For CIA leadership, the Bay of Pigs incident was a blow to their reputation. Declassified data added further detail to the story of the failure.
In 2021, the independent research center National Security Archive released a portion of declassified CIA documents. They revealed that in August 1960, a "secret mission requiring gangster-style action" was included in the plan.

Right now, a group of victims of Iranian terrorism, led by the mother of 1st Lt. Jacob Fritz — who was abducted in 2007 from a U.S. compound in Iraq by an Iranian hit squad and summarily handcuffed, beaten and executed — are fighting to seize billions of dollars of Iranian cryptocurrency in federal court.
These Gold Star families submitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York hundreds of pages of expert reports and exhibits demonstrating how approximately $15 billion in Bitcoin was allegedly mined and held by the Iran and China Investment Development Group to help Iran evade sanctions. They have asked the court to turn over the funds to thousands of victims of Iranian terrorism with outstanding court judgments against Iran.
Given Congress’ and Trump’s clear directive to bend all elements of national power to the containment of Iran, I was appalled to see the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Joseph Nocella Jr., decide to stand against these Gold Star families.
