Deadly cartels know where our border agents live. We have to protect their families
[FoxNews] Commercial data and surveillance cameras help identify sources and cooperating witnesses

A hacker working for the Sinaloa cartel identified an FBI assistant legal attaché in Mexico City. According to Reuters covering a Justice Department inspector general report released in June 2025, the hacker used the official's phone number to obtain call records and location data. The hacker then used Mexico City's camera network to follow the official around the capital and identify the people they met. The report says the cartel used that information to intimidate potential sources and cooperating witnesses and, in some cases, to kill them.

The deadly lesson was clear: our adversaries no longer need to physically surveil their targets. The commercial data economy does much of the work for them.

In an updated audit released last week, the Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General highlighted that this threat — ubiquitous technical surveillance (UTS) — "continue[s] to affect the Department" and determined that "DOJ had no common definition of UTS and was not otherwise well-coordinated on the issue, few of the Department's components had taken action to mitigate the UTS threat, and UTS-specific training was lacking."

The conclusion should concern every Homeland Security and law enforcement official: "deficiencies identified in this audit place the Department and its employees, investigations, operations, sources, and witnesses at increased risk to UTS threats."

As a federal law enforcement and Homeland Security official for the past 25 years, I have seen how quickly technology can change the threat environment facing our personnel. The proliferation of inexpensive, commercially available information creates an unacceptable risk that requires a comprehensive solution.

As the acting director for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, I saw these threats firsthand. My family and I know the dangers too well.

In October 2025, for example, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that cartels had put bounties on ICE and Customs and Border Protection officers in Chicago. The reported figures were $2,000 for doxxing or gathering intelligence on agents and as much as $50,000 for killing high-ranking officials.

Especially for officers working cartel cases, the risk can follow them home.

#3  We can no longer be on the defense when it comes to our nation. National defense is a really bad term, as we only act when acted against. It time for a change, Hegseth gets it, department of war shows a philosophy change. When it comes to external threats we must remove them before they can make their threats real.

DAN GAINOR: The AI apocalypse is the media's latest scare campaign. Don't buy it
[FOX] The legacy media have decided we are facing mankind’s doom. The phrase "AI apocalypse" crops up on numerous news sites, from Reuters to The Economist. Other outlets have gone with "AI doomsday" or other formulations that look like they come from Revelation.

Journalists aren’t entirely to blame, either. The problem is being spammed into our culture by a combination of artificial intelligence (AI) industry experts, conspiracy theorists, and Chinese-sponsored social media. Turn to CNN, and it asks, "Will AI really kill everyone? How, exactly?" Meanwhile, Axios writes, "Here's how AI could kill us all (if the worst fears come true)." Scared? That’s the goal.

Here’s a sentence from CNN that sums up pretty much every warning you can read anywhere: "‘It really is about literally everyone on the planet dying, like the last human drawing the last breath,’ said Nate Soares, the president of the Machine Intelligence Research Institute (MIRI) and the coauthor of ‘If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies: Why Superhuman AI Would Kill Us All.’"

Does anyone trust any government, commercial, or political group to never abuse any new Technology?

A.I. is not a media scare. It does have some very serious privacy, personal safety issues. Therefore, there must be strict rules for operation, before implementation.

In the USA the "current" plan is to install 3,612 localized Data Centers. 1,319 already running (about 40%), and their already known snooping abilities. Then add Flock tracking, IMEI tracking, SMS, Email, social media and other I.T. snooping and spying.

I'll say it again...
Does anyone trust any government, commercial, or political group to never abuse the new Technology?

#2  Every single technology man has ever made was weaponized. To think AI will not get weaponized is foolish. We know the pentagon is working in that direction, heck, they just stood up a command for it. How will businesses, politicians, and law enforcement weaponize it against us? They will, we can bitch and snivel, but its here. And another truth is, if it can be used in a crime, it will....

Vision For New Autonomous Warfare Command Laid Out By Pentagon
[TWZ] The Pentagon has announced plans for a new functional combatant command, very broadly akin to U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) or U.S. Space Command (SPACECOM), but for operational activities involving autonomous and robotic capabilities. Secretary Pete Hegseth has also announced new initiatives to help further accelerate the fielding of uncrewed systems in the air, at sea, and on land, as well as to explore future warfighting challenges. All of this builds on previous and long-overdue efforts to prioritize the fielding of various tiers of drones, as well as artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies, across domains, but there are questions about how these new efforts will translate into tangible developments.

Secretary Hegseth unveiled plans for what is tentatively dubbed Autonomous Warfare Command (AUTOWARCOM), as well as the aforementioned initiatives, called Project Agincourt and Project Meridian, during a speech to service members today at the U.S. Marine Corps’ base in Quantico, Virginia. Hegseth called this a State of the Force address, and said he planned to make it an annual event.

Hegseth is starting to sound as whack as P.Trump.

#3  Why a new command structure when so much more could be gained, quicker, by 'effective' management of logistics and operational intelligence actions within the current order.

Other than service ribbons for the management and reorganization churn, what have we seen come out of the decade of PEO Soldier, really.

A new force in Army acquisition: PEOs Soldier, Ground Combat Systems merge to form CPE Ground

Well, other than jungle fatigues and hot weather socks for arctic troops, non-jelling fuels in the tropics and 'just add water and heat' instructions for arid front MREs. [Though I gotta say dry, crunchy noodles reminded me of toast, kinda.]
