#5 authorities have not yet determined whether the alleged shooter's actions would be considered self-defense.

It all depends on the race of the participants. I bet the shooter gets some sort of illegal discharge of unlicensed weapon or at least disorderly conduct on a train.

I don't have much experience criming, but as a general rule, if you get shot with your own gun, you are doing it wrong.

#14 About the white girl, as of two days ago:

Family provides update on girl critically injured in fight near Missouri high school

"We will not know the extent of the brain damage that has occurred until [Kaylee Gain, 16] wakes up," one of the GoFundMe pages set up to help the family said.

The department said on Saturday, a 15-year-old suspect was arrested and is currently being held by St. Louis County Family Court on assault charges. The identity of the suspect will not be disclosed because they are a minor.

John O'Sullivan with the St. Louis County Courts said it is too soon to know if the suspect will be charged as an adult. There will be a court hearing in the next few weeks.

#15 My school days were full of bullies. So I took judo at the local YMCA whose instructor was a vet that ended up in an actual altercation with a Vietcon regular in the jungle who was armed with a knife. He got cuts on the arm (he showed us the cuts) but he eliminated his opponent. It really gave authenticity to the need to know martial arts. And indeed it came in handy a couple of times, surprising the school bullies. In a non-military confrontation (street warfare) his first advice to us was to avoid confrontation, even if you have to run away. You can't win against a gun or a knife. But he did a super great job of training us on how to overcome both as well wining at hand to hand, even against large opponents.
