#3 The original inhabitants of Europe were largely displace by the Celts, the Basques being probably the last remnants. Those in turn were displaced by Greeks, Romans, Goths, Huns, Lombards....someone from the east pushed and everyone else pushed further west. The problem for the indigenous Americans is that someone got the technology to traverse the Atlantic and had better organization and technology than the 'stone age'.
