#1 The Nuns will have none of That! (..and hands off the choir boys, too!)

#2 The early Church's priests did marry and have children. Marriage was later banned to prevent Church property from being inherited by the children of the priests. That is no longer a problem since the priests no longer own church property.

#3 Only for most Catholic priests, I believe. Eastern Orthodox priests marry. Also a small number of previously Catholic priests who follow certain rites, if I recall correctly, though I don’t remember which — whose group fairly recently moved allegiance to Rome.

#4 Allowing them to marry women won't shut down the gay lust for choirboys. [not to be confused with the far greater lust of public school teachers for their pupils].

#5 1 Tim. 3:2 does require bishops (episkopoi) to be the husband of one wife. Just sayin'. Titus 1:6 reiterates the requirement.

#6 I am not Catholic but have been married to one for 48 years and largely behaving as one for 51 years. I find this one of the least disturbing actions of this Pope. I long thought we would go this was, but figured it would be by expanding the role of the Deacons. Either way it seems like a reasonable response to the problems with too many priests (and the shortage of priests.) and it’s not like there’s no precedent.

#7 One may be married then ordained, but one may not marry after being ordained.
