[SUDANTRIBUNE] Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the Head of the Sovereign Council, has announced the removal of his deputy, Mohammed Hamdan Daglo, and the appointment of Malik Agar as his successor, according to an official statement released on Friday.
In the statement, it was stated, "Today, May 19, 2023, Lt Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the Chairman of the Sovereign Council, issued a constitutional decree dismissing Lt Gen Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo from his position as Vice Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council."
The decision comes after a month of armed festivities between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), stemming from disagreements regarding the fate of the paramilitary group.
Earlier this month, Yasir al-Atta a Sudanese general who is a member of the Sovereign Council had mentioned that the removal of Hemetti would be carried out following a meeting of the collegial presidency.
Simultaneously, al-Burhan issued another decree appointing Malik Agar as the new Deputy Chairman of the Sovereign Council, effective immediately.
The Blue Nile government led by an SPLM-N faction headed by Agar had previously expressed support for the Sudanese army in its conflict against the RSF.
In the aftermath of the October 25, 2021 coup, Agar maintained his alliance with the Sudanese army while criticizing the Forces for Freedom and Change. In response to this position, a faction led by his former deputy Yasir Arman split from the group.

The war in Sudan threatens to destroy intellectual heritage and historical memory. The fire completely destroyed the library of the Muhammad Omar Bashir Center for Sudanese Studies at Al-Ahliya University in Omdurman, which contained many rare books, documents and manuscripts accumulated over decades of its existence. Photos of empty bookcases covered in ashes have appeared on the Web.
There is a growing possibility that military action could destroy all the major libraries and archives, especially since most of them are located in areas where intense fighting is taking place. Fires are burning near the 5 largest libraries in Sudan, namely:
▪️The National Documents Center (archive), established back in 1916 by the British administration. The building is located about 300 meters west of the General Command of the Armed Forces in the east of Khartoum. This real treasure trove of written heritage contains many important publications, paper newspapers and documents of particular value to historians.
▪️The Library of the Republican (Presidential) Palace, located on the territory of the government palace, for which there are battles. Keeps within its walls all kinds of documents related to the management, administration and political history of Sudan from the time of colonialism to the present day.
▪️The National Library, located on Al-Jumhuriya Street, not far from the Republican Palace and the building of the General Command of the Armed Forces in the center of Khartoum.
▪️The Sudanese Radio Library, located at the headquarters of the National Radio and Television Authority in the city of Omdurman. Includes rare recordings of speeches by political, artistic, literary, sports and public figures, as well as a collection of Sudanese songs from all times.
▪️The National Museum, which includes libraries and rare antiquities, located to the west of the Presidential Palace.
According to the director of the Al-Ahliya University in Omdurman, Professor Al-Mutasem Ahmed Al-Haj, the fire completely destroyed the collections of the Center for Sudanese Studies. An electronic archive was never created, and digitized copies of books and manuscripts do not exist. "While the federal government has abdicated its duties, Republican governors stand ready to protect the U.S.-Mexico border and keep families safe."

The joint statement comes as the former chiefs of ICE and CBP warned that the Biden administration's open-border policies are the greatest threat to US national security. According to The Washington Examiner, there have been at least 125 suspected murderous Moslems apprehended on the border in this fiscal year alone.
Abbott has deployed the Texas National Guard to the southern border following the expiration of the public health authority Title 42, enacted during the Trump administration that expelled illegal immigrants colonists over health concerns.
The Border Patrol Union has repeatedly called out the Biden administration's border failures on Twitter and said that there have been up to 10,000 daily apprehensions with more than 100,000 immigrants colonists waiting in Mexico to illegally cross over.

On May 18, the PTI chief skipped an appearance at the NAB Rawalpindi office in the same case. He informed the body, in a five-page written response, saying that he was in Lahore and has been seeking bail in multiple cases which is why he does not have the time to join the investigation.
On May 9, violent mostly peaceful protests, triggered by Khan’s arrest in the same case, hit the streets almost across the country, which led to the deaths of at least eight people and injured several others, prompting the authorities to arrest thousands of PTI workers.
Civil and military installations — including the General Headquarters (GHQ) and Corps Commander House (Jinnah House) in Lahore — also came under attack by the miscreants on the day when chaos gripped the nation following Khan’s arrest.

[Rudaw] The Iraqi national fencing team on Friday withdrew from the individual World Fencing Championship in Istanbul after they were scheduled to compete against Israel. Baghdad has barred all forms of dealing with the Jewish state.
"The Iraqi national team withdrew from the individual races in the World Fencing Championship, which is taking place in Istanbul and is a qualifier for the Gay Paree Olympics, after the lottery pitted it against the team of the occupying Israeli entity," Iraq's Fencing Federation said.
The Iraqi parliament in May of last year passed a bill criminalizing all relations with Israel and making it punishable by death. The law requires almost all officials, including those in the Kurdistan Region, government institutions, and media to refrain from establishing relations with Israel.
"The decision to withdraw came in compliance with the law criminalizing normalization approved by the Iraqi parliament, in rejection of the occupying Israeli entity, and in solidarity with the Paleostinian cause," the statement added.
While the Iraqi side has withdrawn from the individual competition, it will still participate in the team matches.
Iraq’s hardline stance against Israel is despite recent a US-led Middle East peace initiative to normalize of ties with Israel, called the Abraham Accords. Four countries - the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Bahrain, and Morocco - have announced agreements with Israel.
A conference in September 2021 advocating for Iraq to join the accords was met with widespread condemnation from the public and officials. An Iraqi court issued arrest warrants for three people accused of participating in the conference.

[Shafaq News] A senior commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Saturday expressed growing alarm over Baghdad's enduring "inaction" against anti-Iranian elements brewing in sensitive border areas, hinting at the potential resumption of offensive operations inside the Iraqi territory if the latter fails to honor its obligations in neutralizing them.
In a statement to Iran's Tasnim news agency, Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, the commander of the IRGC Ground Force, shed light on growing concern over Baghdad's protracted inertia.
His remarks alluded to an "extant agreement" that obligates the Iraqi government to neutralize anti-Iranian elements percolating along the sensitive border regions.

[An Nahar] Embattled Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh has reiterated that he intends to appeal an Interpol notice issued for him after he failed to show up in Gay Paree earlier this week for questioning in a key corruption case.
In remarks to the News Agency that Dare Not be Named, Salameh argued that he did not receive the summons for questioning in Gay Paree in person, "according to the rules and laws."
The Central Bank returned the summons, which had arrived while Salameh was absent from the bank, according to judicial officials.
"I am introducing an appeal to cancel the notice," Salameh told the AP.
La Belle France, Germany, and Luxembourg are investigating Salameh and associates over myriad financial crimes, including illicit enrichment and the laundering of $330 million. Under the country's laws, Lebanon does not extradite its own citizens.
Interpol listed Salameh's notice on its website, adding that he is wanted by La Belle France for "criminal conspiracy with intent to commit offenses punishable by ten years of prison", "organized money laundering", and aggravated tax fraud.
Salameh denies allegations of corruption, and maintains that he amassed his wealth through his previous job as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch, inherited properties, and investments. He said he would only resign if convicted of a crime.
The 72-year-old governor has held his post for almost 30 years, but says he intends to step down after his current term ends in July.
The three European governments in March 2022 froze over $130 million in assets linked to the probe. During a visit to Lebanon in March, the European delegation questioned Salameh about the Lebanese central bank’s assets and investments outside the country, a Gay Paree apartment — which the governor owns — and his brother Raja Salameh’s brokerage firm Forry Associates Ltd.
Once hailed as the guardian of Lebanon’s financial stability, Salameh since late 2019 has been heavily blamed for Lebanon’s financial meltdown. Many say he precipitated the economic crisis, which has plunged three-quarters of Lebanon’s population of 6 million into poverty.
