Hormuud Telecom petrol tanker hit by a blast in Somali capital
[ShabelleMedia] An explosion struck a fuel tanker in the Somali capital, Mogadishu on Monday, the latest in a series of IED attacks amidst stepped-up military operations.

The tanker which belongs to Hormuud, the country’s leading Telecommunications company is facing currently a threat from an unidentified group.

So far, no casualties have been reported as a result of the blast at the Wahar-adde area within the Huriwa district.

A similar attack targeted a Hormuud-owned minibus in the same area on Sunday, killing one staff member and wounding two others, who are at death's door.

The company lost at least two employees in the latest kabooms this month, and no arrest was made for the incidents by the security agencies of the government.

Several Hormuud Telecom branches were also targeted with IEDs, causing loss of property.

Al-Shabaab suffers losses in Somalia
[Garowe] al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
suffered immense losses in the latest operations within Somalia, officials said, in the latest crackdown spearheaded by the Somali National Army (SNA) are working hard to liberate strategic regions in the country.

According to state media, over 80 al-Shabaab murderous Moslems were killed after an operation that took 8 hours, with the national army managing to overpower the holy warriors. The murderous Moslems lost the battle with the national army getting assistance from allies.

General Dayah, the land forces commander, said the murderous Moslems suffered heavy losses, adding that the national army will continue with the operations to liberate remaining strategic towns in the country.

"Over 80 al-Shabaab deaths in a major operation by SNA and local forces in Aad. Area freed after 8-hour battle, land forces commander Gen. Dayah, confirmed to state media. Militants suffer heavy losses," state media reports.

The national army has been doing operations across the country, particularly in central and southern regions. The African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and the US Africa Command have been assisting the national army in carrying out operations.

"Somali Armed Forces clean-up operation targets key al-Shabaab hubs: Saydhelow, Habhirow, Buurta Qodqode, Alamka, Warta Dollar and Weeley. These areas housed recruitment centers and extortion rackets terrorizing Bay and Bokool communities."

The government of Somalia has declared total war against the murderous Moslems and it projects that by December 2024, the murderous Moslems would have lost the war. ATMIS has started withdrawing from the country, subsequently, handing over security responsibilities to Somali forces.

A woman killed in mortar barrage in Somali capital amid calm period
[ShabelleMedia] Several mortars fell early in the morning in the neighborhoods of Mogadishu causing damage including death and injury.
Not calm enough, apparently
Most of the mortars fell in the neighborhoods around the presidential pala of Somalia, and it was said that one of the mortars struck a civilian house of civilians in the Sheikh Yusuf Alkawnayn area, and killed the mother of the family.

A woman who lives in the area where the mortar killed the dear departed mother and spoke to the local media said that the mortar fell into the room where the dear departed mother lived and dismembered her body.
That'll do it
"This morning, when it was morning prayer, we found out that while we were lying there was a big explosion that was heard everywhere. A mortar hit a family in a quiet place. The houses collapsed and the people who were there bravely ran away," she said

These mortars that were hit early this morning in the vicinity of the Somali presidency are coming, as the security situation in Mogadishu has been good in the past, and these types of mortars have been used to hit Mogadishu by the al-Shabaab

Al-Shabaab suspect nabbed in Mogadishu after failed grenade attack
[ShabelleMedia] The police in the Somali capital, Mogadishu have successfully captured a suspected al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
operative after tossing a grenade at a house last night.

The young man attacked the residence of Liban Madaxweyne, a senior Somali military commander in the Hodon district during the evening. However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
his bomb did not explode.

He was apprehended while trying to escape from the scene by the security forces and he is now under interrogation at a police custody. The suspect is set to be arraigned in court.

The security of the capital has been improving since the reelection of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud as the 10th president of Somalia in May last year by the Federal parliament.

"Residents of Mogadishu expressing satisfaction and confidence with the government," said Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, who hailed the efforts of the security agencies.

This comes as the Somali government taking over security responsibility of key bases and facilities, including the presidential palace and parliament house from AU troops.

Southwest State security forces foil car bomb attack in Baidoa city
[ShabelleMedia] The security forces of Somalia’s Southwest regional state carried out an operation in the vicinity of the strategic city of Baidoa following a tip-off from residents.

The hawk-eyed Darwish forces
...the latest version of cow-eyed Hera or rosy-fingered Dawn, or the many wonders that pop up from Fred’s auto-translator...
managed to seize an exploding car while en route to Baidoa to conduct a suicide kaboom in the interim capital of Southwest State.

Southwest State’s Intelligence Agency said in a statement that the operation came after receiving information about the al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
attack plot on the outskirts of the town.

The authorities beefed up security in Baidoa after al-Shabaab fighters came around the city and imposed a blockade that impacted the businesses and caused skyrocketing inflation.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh said Southwest State will be among the regions, where the SNA will carry out an operation as part of the planned 2nd phase of the military offensive.

Since last year, the Somali government forces along with local community fighters pushed al-Shabaab out of dozens of areas and towns in Galmudug

and HirShabelle states.

Despite losing ground, the al-Qaeda-linked group continues to stage attacks in the country and neighboring countries, including Kenya, which contributed troops to the AU mission.

Somali pirates hijack fishing boat in fourth attack this month
[ShabelleMedia] Somali pirates are believed to be behind the fourth attack on a vessel in a month. Security authorities are confirming reports from over the weekend that a Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i fishing boat was hijacked and last seen in Somali waters.

UK Maritime Trade Organization (UKMTO) issued an update to an earlier unconfirmed report saying that it believes a Yemeni fishing vessel was hijacked. They are quoting local authorities saying the fishing boat named Emerat-2 was last seen heading north along the Yemeni coast. They described the vessel as being 58 feet (17.7 meters) long with a white hull. It is unclear how many people were aboard.

They are citing the vessel’s last known position as approximately 8 miles north of Eyl, on the southwestern coast of Somalia facing the Arabian Sea. It is in the breakaway Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
region, which claims to be autonomous. It is the same area where the other recent pirate attacks originated from earlier in December.

Some of the media reports are putting the fishing boat’s location close to the island of Socotra. It has been reported in the past that the island was controlled by pirates.

One of the concerns is that the pirates might be using the smaller fishing boat as a mother vessel. UKMTO cites military authorities who assess that the vessel might be used for future piracy attacks. At the beginning of December, another fishing vessel was seized with Somali media also saying the pirates were threatening to use the vessel as a base of additional attacks unless their ransom demands were met. EUNAVFOR later reported that the first fishing boat had been tracked into Somali waters with the details handed over the Somalia which reported it was arresting the pirates.

EUNAVFOR had said they believed the threat from the first hijacked fishing boat was resolved, but since then Somali pirates have been reported to have unsuccessfully attacked the tanker Central Park and a week and a half ago seized a Navibulgar bulker. While the boarders were captured by the U.S. Navy when they attempted to flee from the tanker, pirates are believed to still be controlling the bulker Ruen.

An official from the Myanmar Seafarers Association (MSF) released a statement today saying that the families have still not been able to make contact with crewmembers aboard the Ruen. They reported that the families are anxious as they have been unable to confirm the situation aboard the vessel. The crew is from Bulgaria and Myanmar. One crewmember was evacuated for medical treatment by the Indian Navy while there had been reports that the captors would be providing phones to the ship’s crewmembers so that they could contact their families.

UKMTO is asking vessels to report suspicious activity especially because of the concern that pirates could be using the smaller ship as a base. EUNAVFOR has been highlighting that the last confirmed piracy incident in the region took place in 2019. Most of the attacks on commercial vessels had taken place before 2014 with only two vessels seized and released in 2017 and one unsuccessful attempt in 2018.

MSC onfirms an attack on one of its ships in the Red Sea
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Swiss container ship Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) confirmed information about an attack on one of its ships UNITED VIII in the Red Sea on December 26. This is stated in a statement published on the company's website.

“MSC confirms that the container ship MSC UNITED VIII was attacked while transiting the Red Sea on 26 December 2023,” the statement said.

It is noted that the incident occurred when the ship was heading from King Abdullah port in Saudi Arabia to Pakistan. The ship informed a nearby coalition warship about the attack, which resulted in no casualties.

Earlier on Tuesday, Ansar Allah claimed responsibility for the attack on the Liberian-flagged container ship UNITED VIII in the Red Sea.

As Regnum reported, on December 23, the central command of the US Navy reported an attack on the ships BLAAMANEN and SAIBABA sailing under the flags of Norway and India. The Houthis attacked ships in the Red Sea using unmanned aerial vehicles.

Hindu Temple Vandalised With Pro-Khalistan, Anti-India Slogans In US
[OneIndia] A Hindu temple in the United States was vandalized with anti-India and pro-Khalistan graffiti on its exterior walls. The Hindu-American Foundation has shared pictures of the defacement at Newark's Swaminarayan Mandir Vasana Sanstha on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Swaminarayan Mandir Vasana Sanstha in Newark, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, was defaced with pro-#Khalistan slogans. @NewarkCA_Police and @CivilRights have been informed and a full investigation will follow. We are insisting that this should be investigated as a hate crime," it stated.

The post elaborated that the reference to the Khalistan terrorist leader Bhindranwale, who targeted Hindus, was intended to distress temple-goers and instil a fear of violence. The message emphasized that such actions met the definition of a hate crime according to the CA.

This marks a recurring pattern of Hindu temples being targeted by Khalistani Lions of Islam overseas. Similar incidents have occurred in Australia and Canada. The Government of India has consistently raised this issue on numerous diplomatic platforms.

In August, Khalistani supporters vandalized a temple in Surrey, Canada. Allegedly, these sympathizers trespassed over the exterior boundary and deliberately affixed Khalistan referendum posters onto the main entry gate and the entrance of Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Surrey, one of the oldest temples in British Columbia. The posters urged Canada to investigate India's "role" in the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on June 18.

Dozens arrested in anti-Israel protests at two major US airports
[IsraelTimes] Police make over 60 arrests near New York’s JFK and Los Angeles’ LAX as demonstrators block roads; LA police says protesters attacked officer, passersby

Pro-Paleostinian protesters blocked morning traffic on Wednesday around Los Angeles International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport — two of the nation’s busiest — in coast-to-coast demonstrations that ended with dozens of arrests.

The demonstrations stopped cars on the outskirts of New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, where some travelers set off on foot to bypass the jammed roadway, as well as Los Angeles International Airport. Over 60 people were arrested during the two protests, police said.

In New York, activists locked arms and held banners demanding an end to the Israel-Hamas
...always the voice of sweet reason...
war and expanded rights for Paleostinians, bringing traffic to a standstill on the Van Wyck Expressway leading up to the airport for about 20 minutes.

Some of the anti-Israel protesters chanted "from the river to the sea," a phrase that is perceived as a call for the destruction of Israel and which Jewish watchdogs call antisemitic. The slogan generally appears as the first half of the chant "From the river to the sea, Paleostine will be free" — referring to the area between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, which encompasses Israel, the West Bank and Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Video posted to social media showed passengers, some carrying suitcases, leaving vehicles behind and stepping over barriers onto the highway median.

Twenty-six people in the protest were arrested for disorderly conduct and impeding vehicular traffic, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey dispatched two buses to help travelers caught in the backup reach the airport, agency spokesperson Steve Burns said.

Around the same time as the New York protest, a major thoroughfare leading to the Los Angeles airport was shut down by another group of pro-Paleostinian protesters, who dragged traffic cones, trash bins, scooters and debris into the lanes, according to news helicopter footage.

In a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department accused protesters of throwing a police officer to the ground and "attacking uninvolved passersby in their vehicles," without providing further details about either incident.

The group appeared to flee when police arrived, though the Los Angeles Police Department said traffic around the airport remained impacted roughly two hours after the demonstration was declared unlawful.

A spokesperson for the LAPD said 35 people were arrested for rioting and one person was arrested for battery of a police officer. No officers were maimed, according to the spokesperson. An estimated 215,000 passengers and 87,000 vehicles were expected to pass through the Los Angeles airport on Wednesday.

Anti-Israel and pro-Paleostinian protests have broken out in cities and universities across the United States since the Israel-Hamas war erupted on October 7, after thousands of Hamas Lions of Islam led a murderous invasion into southern Israel, killing 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took 240 hostages of all ages.

At least 18 rockets were fired at coastal Rosh Hanikra at around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, in an attack that Hezbollah claimed was aimed at an Israeli Navy base in the area. At least six of the rockets were said to have been intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system, with several others falling in open areas.

Several hours later, a second barrage was fired at the city of Kiryat Shmona. Six of the rockets impacted inside the city, causing damage to residential buildings and infrastructure, while another four landed in open areas within the municipal boundary, officials said. An additional three rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome, with the remainder landing in open areas.

Authorities in Kiryat Shmona said that at least 16 rockets were fired at the city, although Hezbollah claimed to have launched 30 in total.

The city, normally home to over 20,000 people, has been largely evacuated in recent months, along with other towns near Israel’s border, due to near-daily rocket, missile and drone attacks launched by Hezbollah and allied groups.

Hezbollah grabbed credit for the rocket barrages, as well as for three explosive-laden drones that hit the Mount Dov area, where several IDF positions are located, saying that they had launched the attacks "in response to the enemy’s repeated crimes."

Visiting Northern Command headquarters on Wednesday, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi said that the military is "at a very high level of readiness" amid escalating Hezbollah attacks.

"Our first task is to return residents safely, and that will take time. Today we approved a variety of plans for the future, and we need to be ready for an offensive, if necessary," he said in remarks provided by the IDF.

"The IDF and within it the Northern Command are at a very high level of readiness. So far, the campaign here has been managed correctly and meticulously, and this is how it should continue. We will not return the residents without security and a sense of security," he added.

According to a security official speaking to Rooters news agency, Hezbollah fired more rockets and drones on Wednesday than it had on any other day since it the daily skirmishes began.

In response to the heavy fire from southern Lebanon, Israeli fighter jets struck the launch site of the drone attack, as well as other targets close to the border, the IDF said in a statement.

The near-daily festivities on Israel’s northern border began following Hamas
...always the voice of sweet reason...
’s deadly onslaught inside Israel on October 7 and the subsequent war in Gaza through which Israel has vowed to eliminate the Paleostinian terror group. Along with allied Paleostinian factions along the Lebanon border, Hezbollah has said that it is carrying out attacks on Israel in a show of support for the people of Gaza.

Iran-backed groups in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, Iraq and Syria have also attacked Israel and US troops in the region repeatedly since October 7, in what is widely seen as a bid to stretch military forces thin as Israel battles Hamas in Gaza.

Four civilians and nine soldiers have been killed in attacks on the northern border, which have included dozens of anti-tank missile attacks. There have also been several rocket attacks from Syria, without any injuries.

Hezbollah has named 129 members who have been killed by Israel during the ongoing skirmishes, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria. In Lebanon, another 16 Paleostinian terror operatives, a Lebanese soldier and at least 19 civilians, three of whom were journalists, have been killed.

A strike on the southern city of Bint Jbeil late Tuesday night attributed to Israel killed three people, according to Lebanese media, two of them civilians.

According to the country’s state-run National News Agency, the bodies of Ibrahim Bazzi, his wife Shorouk Hammoud, and Ibrahim’s brother, Ali Bazzi, were pulled from the rubble of their destroyed home.

Another member of the family was reportedly maimed.

Ibrahim Bazzi was identified by one of his relatives as a Lebanese-Australian dual citizen. Although family members in the village alleged that Ali Bazzi was a civilian, Hezbollah put out a statement announcing his death as a "martyr on the road to Jerusalem," as it typically does when one of its fighters is killed.

Ibrahim Bazzi was said to have lived in Sydney and was only in Lebanon to visit his wife Hammoud, who just recently received a travel visa for Australia and so was not yet living with her husband.

Asked about the incident, the Israeli military said one of its jets had struck a Hezbollah military site overnight in Lebanon. Australian media quoted a spokesperson for Australia’s foreign ministry as saying it was aware of the report and was seeking confirmation.

Bint Jbeil is a Hezbollah stronghold and large parts of it were destroyed during the 2006 war between Israel and the Iran-backed terror group.

6 Palestinians said killed in IDF drone strike near West Bank’s Tulkarem
Follow up to this story from yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] Military says it targeted group throwing explosives at troops in Nur Shams refugee camp, where overnight raid sparked violent mostly peaceful festivities

An Israeli dronezap killed six Paleostinians during an overnight raid near Tulkarem in the northern West Bank early Wednesday morning, Paleostinian Authority health officials said.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that it launched a counter-terror raid on the Nur Shams refugee camp overnight, where it arrested three wanted Paleostinians and seized a dozen weapons.

During the raid, the military said it struck the group of Paleostinian button men who threw explosives at troops. Military sources said the IDF was aware of six Paleostinians being killed in the strike.

The Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy Society said an additional four people were maimed during the incident, three of them seriously, but did not specify if they were armed.

Troops entered Tulkarem and the Nur Shams refugee camp with bulldozers and military vehicles. Violent festivities then broke out in the city.

The IDF said engineering vehicles uncovered and destroyed bombs hidden under and on the sides of roads in the area.

The area around Tulkarem has been of heightened concern in recent days after residents of the neighboring Israeli local council of Bat Hefer reported hearing digging sounds under their homes, prompting a search for tunnels.

In a raid on Nur Shams overnight Monday, security forces seized makeshift rockets and other weapons, the military said.

such a discovery in Tulkarem is noteworthy, as it is far closer to Israel’s major population centers in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.

Strip, where the terror group has ruled since 2007.

Since October 7, troops have arrested more than 2,550 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 1,300 affiliated with Hamas. According to the Paleostinian Authority health ministry, some 300 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time.

Based on military estimates, the vast majority of those killed since October 7 were shot during festivities amid arrest raids, and many of them, according to data seen by The Times of Israel, were armed with either a firearm or an bomb.

The IDF is aware of at least three cases of uninvolved Paleostinians being killed by troops in recent months, and a handful of cases of settlers killing Paleostinians, which are still under investigation.

, the Paleostinian Ministry of Health said on Wednesday.

Israel said it was returning the bodies after confirming that they were not Israeli hostages taken by Hamas on October 7.

The ministry said the bodies were buried and the authorities recorded details to help with later identification. Gaza authorities were trying to figure out when and where the men were killed and who they were.

An Israeli military spokesperson said that during the war, bodies have been transported to Israel "for an identification procedure as part of our effort to locate the hostages and the missing persons".

"The difficulties in identifying those murdered make it necessary to transfer those bodies to Israel for forensic identification," and that it was in line with "routine analysis that complies with internationally accepted forensic standards" in order to rule out their identification as Israeli hostages, the spokesperson said.

The health ministry said the bodies were handed over by Israel through the Kerem Shalom border crossing. According to the Islamic Waqf, or religious affairs ministry, the bodies had been collected from the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

Australia says checking claim national killed in Israeli strike in Lebanon was Hezbollah member

[IsraelTimes] Australia on Thursday confirmed two of its citizens were killed in an Israeli airstrike in south Lebanon late Tuesday, and said it was looking at Hezbollah’s claims that one of the Australian citizens killed had links to the Lebanese terror group.

“We will continue to make inquiries about this particular person, with whom Hezbollah has claimed links,” Acting Foreign Minister Mark Dreyfus said during a media briefing.

“Hezbollah has claimed this Australian as one of its fighters. Our inquiries are continuing.”

Hezbollah is a “listed terrorist organization” in Australia and it is an offense for any Australian to provide it with financial support or fight in its ranks, Dreyfus said.

A Lebanese-Australian man, his wife, and his brother, who was a member of Hezbollah, were killed in the attack, attributed to Israel, on a home in the southern city of Bint Jbeil, Lebanese security and local sources told Reuters on Wednesday.

According to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency, the bodies of Ibrahim Bazzi, his wife Shorouk Hammoud, and Ibrahim’s brother, Ali Bazzi, were pulled from the rubble of their destroyed home.

Ibrahim Bazzi was identified by one of his relatives as a Lebanese-Australian dual citizen. Although family members in the village alleged that Ali Bazzi was a civilian, Hezbollah put out a statement announcing his death as a “martyr on the road to Jerusalem,” as it typically does when one of its fighters is killed.

Ibrahim Bazzi was said to have lived in Sydney and was only in Lebanon to visit his wife, who just recently received a travel visa for Australia and so was not yet living with her husband.

At the funeral procession in Bint Jbeil on Wednesday, an AFP photographer saw three coffins draped in Hezbollah flags.

Bint Jbeil is a Hezbollah stronghold and large parts of it were destroyed during the 2006 war between Israel and the Iran-backed terror group.

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] On Monday, December 25, the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed two control points and warehouses of militants who were firing at Syrian government troops in the Syrian province of Idlib. This was announced on Tuesday by the deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties, Vadim Kulit.

“The Russian Aerospace Forces carried out air strikes in the province of Idlib against targets of illegal armed groups involved in provocative attacks on the positions of Syrian government troops,” he said.

According to him, as a result of the strikes, the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed two command posts and several warehouses of militants’ materiel.

Vadim Kulit noted that over the past 24 hours, 15 attacks on the positions of Syrian government troops by the terrorist groups “Islamic Party of Turkestan” and “Jabhat al-Nusra” (organizations whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation) were recorded in the region. As a result of fire from the militants, one soldier was killed and another was injured.

As Regnum reported , on November 12, Vadim Kulit reported that Russian aircraft hit militant targets in Idlib province. As a result of the attack, underground shelters and terrorist training camps were destroyed.
