LA County officials announce new lead, 250k reward in ambush killing of sheriff's deputy
[FoxNews] Los Angeles County officials have announced a combined $250,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects involved in the killing of a sheriff’s deputy Saturday evening.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger announced Sunday she’s seeking Board approval for a $100,000 reward. The City of Palmdale, where the deputy was killed, is matching the Board’s donation, and the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs (ALASA) is adding another $50,000.

Barger called Saturday’s killing of deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer an "unprovoked attack on an honorable public servant."

Los Angeles Sheriff Robert Luna said detectives are seeking a "vehicle of interest," described as a 2006-2012 Toyota Corolla, dark gray in color.

Luna said sheriff’s deputies are working "around the clock" to find those responsible. It was not clear whether one or multiple suspects was involved.

"I’m going to continuously refer to them as cowards because that’s what they are. Cowards," Luna said during a Sunday afternoon press conference. "To attack a deputy sheriff in uniform in a black and white, who’s just sitting there at a red light, about to go out and serve our community. That is absolutely 100% unacceptable."

Deputy Clinkunbroomer, 30, was an eight-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. At approximately 6 p.m. PST, Clinkunbroomer was shot in an ambush just outside the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station in Palmdale, California.

Clinkunbroomer was unconscious in the vehicle when he was found near the intersection of Sierray Highway and Avenue Q by a person Luna identified as a "good Samaritan" who alerted personnel at the Palmdale station of the sheriff’s department.

"Despite the medical staff's best efforts to save our deputy's life, regrettably he succumbed to his injuries," Luna said.

Sheriff’s deputies circulated a video Saturday night, showing Clinkunbroomer’s patrol car at the time of the murder.

Luna said he believed the shooting was a "targeted attack." But the motive, and whether the deputy or the department in general was the target, was not yet known.

The sheriff said his department was working closely with representatives from the city of Palmdale, about 61 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

"Let me be crystal clear. This was an act of murder," Mayor Laura Bettencourt said at the news conference. "This individual or individuals are spineless criminals, and our community will join together to bring them to justice."

Zaghawa tribe accuses RSF of assassinating notables in South Darfur
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The Shura Council of the Zaghawa tribe has levelled accusations against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), alleging the liquidation of three prominent Zaghawa tribe members in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state.

Over the past month, intense festivities have erupted between the army and the paramilitary forces, engulfing Nyala and impacting most of its neighbourhoods. According to the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
, this violence has forced approximately 50,000 residents to seek refuge in neighbouring states.

A temporary ceasefire, brokered by the gangs signatory to the Juba Peace Agreement, briefly halted the hostilities between the two factions. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
this truce proved fragile, leading to a resurgence of conflict in a more brutal form, resulting in a significant number of civilian casualties.

"On August 22, an RSF force deliberately targeted and assassinated former parliamentarian Ahmed Abkar Barqo Abdel-Rahman, businessman Mohammed Abdel Karim Youssif Bishara, and Mohammed Abkar Bakht. The assailants conducted a deliberate raid on their residences in the al-Nahda neighbourhood, Square 2," a member of the Shura Council of the Zaghawa tribe in South Darfur revealed to Sudan

Tribune.

He emphasized that the actions against the tribe’s prominent figures were premeditated and carried out with the objective of ethnic-based elimination. He also indicated a growing inclination within the tribe to confront the RSF and seek retribution if the perpetrators are not apprehended and held accountable for their "heinous crimes".

Also, the Zaghawa Shura Council issued a statement asserting that the three victims were residents of South Darfur State and influential leaders within the tribe. They were "deliberately targeted, assaulted, and assassinated within their homes by gangs equipped with full military gear associated with the Rapid Support Forces, whose vehicles were stationed in the Nahda neighbourhood, Square 2."

"Despite the Zaghawa Shura Council in South Darfur State’s conviction that there is no winner in this cursed war and that the tribe is not a party to it, we remain perplexed by the motives behind this reprehensible act and the message it intends to convey," added the statement.

#1  Interesting. RSF commander and most loyal of his forces are Zaghawa. This seems not to be ethnic cleansing, rather it looks like political cleansing targeting those who would play ball with Khartoum Arabs. We shall see if more members of the so-called Shura Council bite the dust. Finally, reporting from the Sudan Tribune is not to be trusted.

Sudanese army repels RSF attack on its command centre
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
ese military announced on Saturday that its forces successfully repelled an assault by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on strategic positions near its central command centre in Khartoum.

The RSF had taken to social media to share images and video clips depicting a major offensive against the Army General Command’s headquarters. However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
they refrained from issuing official statements or videos confirming their control over the military site.

In response, the army’s spokesperson released a statement in the evening, stating that the armed forces had thwarted a dawn attack by what they described as a "rebel militia" on advanced positions surrounding the General Command.

The spokesperson revealed that the assailant forces suffered significant casualties, including dozens of fatalities and injuries. Furthermore, a substantial number of combat vehicles were destroyed, compelling the attackers to hastily retreat, he added.

Despite being surrounded by the RSF from multiple directions, Sudanese army leaders continued to oversee military operations from the General Command headquarters. Notably, the Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army had departed for Port Sudan in the final week of August, despite the ongoing siege.

The army’s spokesperson accused the RSF of persistently targeting residential areas through indiscriminate shelling. This resulted in 40 civilians sustaining injuries after neighborhoods in Omdurman, specifically Banat, Abbasiya, and al-Mawradah, near the Corps of Engineers, were bombarded.

The military tensions in Khartoum escalated in the wake of threats issued by RSF commander Mohammed Hamdan Daglo. He had warned that he would establish a government with Khartoum as the capital if the army attempted to form an emergency government in eastern Sudan.

According to a military source, the RSF’s attack on the army headquarters unfolded from the north-eastern and south-western directions. Simultaneously, RSF forces intensively shelled the headquarters of the Sudanese Army Signal Corps in Khartoum North, as well as the Armoured Corps in the southern vicinity of Khartoum. Ground festivities also erupted in the Kober neighbourhood in Khartoum North.

Additionally, fierce confrontations occurred near the Army Corps of Engineers in Omdurman.

The army had recently succeeded in gaining control over several adjacent neighbourhoods, including the al-Fatihab suburb, and all areas in Omdurman up to the al-Ardah neighbourhood, located near the Omdurman Islamic University, which had been converted into a military base by the RSF.

The RSF’s shift in strategy is evident in these coordinated assaults, departing from their previous practice of concentrating all their forces on a single military objective.

According to media sources, the prominent leader of the STC, Nasser al-Khubji, was subjected to a mysterious accident, when two tires of his car went off at the same time while he was on the road linking the districts of Khormaksar and al-Mansoura.

The sources added that the simultaneous bursting of tires indicates that it was a planned liquidation attempt.

Al-Khubji was unharmed in the incident, one of the sources said, adding that it was believed that the tires were filled with gas instead of air, which led to their heat and explosion at the same time.

UAE-backed factions impose military cordon on Ataq
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] UAE-backed factions carried out massive movements to impose a military cordon on the city of Ataq, the administrative center of Shabwah province, eastern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
Informed sources reported on Saturday that the "Shabwah Defense Forces," affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), deployed large groups in various eastern and southern ports of the city of Ataq, and set up dozens of checkpoints.

Citizens had previously complained about the spread of a number of illegal checkpoints and roadblocks throughout Ataq, affirming that travelers and citizens passing by are being harassed and delayed from getting to work due to the overcrowding of cars.

According to observers, the new military deployment of the pro-UAE factions comes within the framework of fears of a surprise attack by the pro-Saudi factions on their main stronghold in the city of Ataq, especially with the escalation of their mobilizations on the outskirts of the oil-rich province

Qur'an once again desecrated and burned in Sweden
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Swedish government authorities have allowed an Iraqi citizen residing on its territory, by the name of Salwan Najm, to burn a copy of the Holy Qur’an under police protection on Friday.

Media sources said that Najm burned the Koran copy in front of the Grand Fatya Mosque, which is run by the Ottoman Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs
... a project of their dawa —outreach — department, part of the reason why their economy is in such bad shape...
in the Swedish capital, Stockholm.

According to the sources, Najm, who arrived in front of the mosque amid intense police guard, threw a copy of the Koran on the ground and trampled on it, despite the reactions of people around him.

He then tore the copy before burning it, after which he left the place in an armoured police car.

In a statement, the head of the Fatya Grand Mosque Association, Ismail Okor, said that they would respond to this provocative act by reading the sermon in four languages and reciting the Qur’an in a way that can be heard from outside the mosque.

This marks at least the third time in just a few months that the Qur’an was desecrated in Sweden, usually taking place with full permission and protection by the government.

, was arrested in Rawalpindi on Sunday, his counsel Sardar Abdul Razaq claimed.

"Rashid was taken into custody by men in plain clothes from a housing society in Rawalpindi," the lawyer added.

While sharing the details, the lawyer said that Rashid was taken into custody from a rented house in the housing society.

"His [Rashid] nephew was also arrested," he added.

No case was registered against the AML chief in the limits of Punjab, his counsel also claimed, adding that Rashid was nominated in a case lodged at Kohsar cop shoppe in connection with a protest rally held on May 10 by the PTI against the detention of Imran Khan — the former prime minister.

"We do not know the whereabouts of Rashid so far. Efforts are being made to trace him," his lawyer went on to say.

’PUNJAB POLICE ARREST RASHID’
In a video statement shared on the official X handle — formerly known as Twitter — of Sheikh Rashid, his nephew and former MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafique confirmed that the AML chief along with his brother, Sheikh Shakir, and a domestic help were taken into custody after Maghrib prayer by officials of Punjab

police and plain-clothes men.

In their written statements in Lahore and Islamabad high courts, the police had already admitted that Sheikh Rashid was not wanted by them in any case, Shafique added.

"Sheikh Rashid condemned the May 9 incidents from day one and I did so," he added.

After being arrested, the trio were shifted to an undisclosed location, the nephew said, adding, "We do not know the whereabouts of Rashid, my brother and the domestic help"

He urged the Supreme Court and high courts to inform them whereabouts of Rashid and his brother so that they could provide them the legal assistance.

The AML chief's nephew further said that they did not know in which case Rashid and his brother were taken into custody.

Shafique also urged the authorities that the trio should be produced before the court. He vowed to fight the legal battle for their right.

capital city, confirmed his counsel Rana Intezar Hussain on Sunday.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the anti-corruption court (ATC) judge discharged Elahi in the graft case and ordered to release him, his lawyer said.

Citing the officials, the counsel said that Elahi — the former Punjab chief minister — was rearrested this time in a terrorism case and was being shifted to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi.

Earlier, the PTI president was produced before the duty judicial magistrate a day after he was taken into custody by the ACE from jail. He was granted bail from an anti-terrorism court in the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) attack case on Friday.

The duty magistrate approved ACE's request seeking the remand of Elahi.

ATC Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain had approved Elahi's bail against the surety bond of Rs20,000 — which Elahi's legal team failed to pay.

He faces four corruption cases, according to ACE officials.

The Punjab ACE arrested the former chief minister from outside the Adiala jail on Saturday.

According to the ACE, Elahi was arrested in four corruption cases, filed against him. He was transported to the ACE headquarters in Lahore on Saturday evening.

As per the statement issued by a spokesperson for ACE Punjab, the PTI politician was apprehended in Rawalpindi in connection with the Lahore Master Plan corruption case.

The statement said Elahi allegedly manipulated the Lahore Master Plan project for personal financial gains. He attempted to include his own lands in Lahore by altering the plan by forging the seals and monograms of the consulting firm to do so.

Elahi’s lawyer Sardar Abdul Razzaq had confirmed his arrest and said an anti-corruption case had been registered in Punjab.

Speaking to media persons, counsel Razzaq said no corruption case has been registered against his client in Punjab.

"Elahi's bail amount wasn't paid yet. He was not even released before being re-arrested in another case," the lawyer added.

Razzaq also said that Elahi was taken into custody from the jail premises and was taken to court for transitory remand. "Elahi has been arrested for the 12th time," he said.

Israel temporarily shutters Gaza pedestrian crossing following border rioting in which 5 Gazans were maimed
[IsraelTimes] Erez Crossing closed over Rosh Hashanah; Paleostinian laborers won’t be able to enter Israel for another 24 hours

Israel announced the temporary closure of its sole pedestrian crossing with the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip on Sunday night, in response to renewed rioting by Paleostinians on the border.

According to the military’s liaison to the Paleostinians, the Erez Crossing would not reopen for Paleostinian workers on Monday morning after it had been shuttered since Friday morning due to the Rosh Hashanah holiday.

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, known by its acronym COGAT, said in a statement that it was announcing "the postponement of the opening of the Erez Crossing for the entry of Gazook laborers into Israel for an additional 24 hours."

COGAT said the decision was made following an assessment of the situation by security officials and instructions by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi.

The crossing — along with checkpoints in the West Bank — was already closed since Friday at 12:01 a.m., and was to remain closed until Sunday at 11:59 p.m.

COGAT said the crossing would open following a fresh assessment on Monday. Exceptions are made for humanitarian and other outstanding cases but they require COGAT’s approval.

The closures affect more than 100,000 West Bank Paleostinians and 17,000 Gazooks who have permits to enter Israel for work.

On Sunday afternoon, hundreds of Paleostinians in the Gaza Strip rioted on the border with Israel, for the second time in three days. The Israel Defense Forces said the rioters set fire to tires and detonated bombs on the security barrier. Troops responded with crowd dispersal means and live fire in some cases. The Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-run health ministry in the Gaza Strip said five Paleostinians were maimed by Israeli fire.
...two got splinters, two stubbed toes, one with grazed knuckles, but the writhing in agony was worthy of a Paleo-oscar.
The Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede, terror group, which rules the territory, appears to have resumed regular violent mostly peaceful protests along the frontier, with an increasing number of riots in recent weeks.

On Friday, the IDF carried out a dronezap against a Hamas observation post in the Gazoo Strip in response to renewed rioting along the border.

The rioting on Friday and Sunday came as Israeli security forces were on high alert during the Rosh Hashanah holiday, amid a rise in warnings and intelligence tips about possible terror attacks.

There have been several other riots along the Gaza border in recent weeks, which have seen bombs being detonated on the security barrier and a handful of cases of gunfire toward Israeli troops. No IDF soldiers have been maimed.

Palestinian said stabbed in brawl with settlers in Hebron
[IsraelTimes] IDF soldier fires shot in the air to separate groups of Jewish and Arab youths; Paleostinians say settlers were attacking homes.

A Paleostinian was reportedly stabbed and maimed as groups of settler and Arab youths clashed in the West Bank city of Hebron overnight, media reports said Sunday.

The Israel Defense Forces said that soldiers arrived at the scene of the "violent mostly peaceful confrontation" and an officer fired a single shot in the air to disperse the groups.

The army said that its forces treated a maimed Paleostinian at the scene, but did not give any details on the injury.

Paleostinian media said he had a knife wound in the back and was in a moderate condition.

The IDF said that the Israel Police were now probing the incident.

Paleostinian reports said that the group of Jewish settlers were roaming the mixed neighborhood of Tel Rumeideh after the Rosh Hashanah holiday meal and attacking Paleostinian homes.

Video posted to social media shows the Jewish youths telling several Paleostinians to get out of the way and stop filming them before the groups started pushing and hitting each other.

Arab Israeli politician Ahmed Tibi criticized the police for failing to take action.

"Part of the normal Rosh Hashanah activities in Hebron. A Paleostinian was stabbed. No one was arrested. Because they are Jews," he tweeted.

Hebron is a contested city that is home to the Tomb of the Patriarchs, a site considered holy to Moslems, Christians and Jews. Hundreds of hardline settlers live in fortified enclaves under military protection in the heart of a city of more than 200,000 Paleostinians.

Jordan rails at ‘provocative’ Jewish visits to Temple Mount during Rosh Hashanah
[IsraelTimes] Minor disturbances reported around holy site in Jerusalem’s Old City during holiday, but no significant incidents; Jewish visitor said detained after blowing shofar

Jordan on Sunday railed at Israel for letting Jews visit the Temple Mount over Rosh Hashanah, but the holiday passed without any significant incidents at the flashpoint holy site in Jerusalem’s Old City.

In a statement issued by its foreign ministry, the kingdom said it "denounced the storming by faceless myrmidons of the al-Aqsa Mosque" and condemned "their provocative practices under the cover of the Israeli police which represent a violation of the historical and legal status quo."

"We call to protect the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque and holy sites from any harm," the ministry added.

Israel captured the Temple Mount and Jerusalem’s Old City from Jordan in the 1967 Six Day War. However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
it allowed the Jordanian Waqf to continue to maintain religious authority atop the Mount. Under their 1994 peace treaty, Israel recognized Amman’s "special role... in Moslem holy shrines in Jerusalem."

The site is considered the holiest in Judaism, as the location of two biblical temples, while the al-Aqsa Mosque on the Mount is the third-holiest shrine in Islam, making the area a major flashpoint in the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict.

Under the status quo arrangement that has prevailed for decades in cooperation with Jordan, Jews and other non-Moslems are permitted to visit the Temple Mount during certain hours but may not pray there. In recent years, Jewish religious nationalists, including members of the new governing coalition, have increasingly visited the site and demanded equal prayer rights for Jews there, infuriating the Paleostinians and Moslems around the world.

The Jordanian statement came as minor scuffles were reported between police and Paleostinians around the Mount as Jewish visitors toured the site, though there were no reports of any serious disturbances.

Paleostinian sources quoted by Kan news complained of violence by officers and said a young man was detained on the Temple Mount, and that some Moslem worshipers were prevented from entering the compound through one of its gates.

Police detained three Jews for violating the rules at the site, before later releasing them. One reportedly blew a shofar — a ram’s horn traditionally sounded on Rosh Hashanah. Videos shared on Paleostinian social media and drew angry reactions.

As with past years, there have been concerns over tensions at the Mount during Rosh Hashanah and other upcoming holidays, when there is usually a large uptick in Jewish visitors. Last week, Jerusalem police chief Doron Turgeman indicated forces have made the Temple Mount a key part of the force’s efforts to ensure security for Israelis and tourists in the city during the holidays.

Iran guard shot and killed on anniversary of Amini death
[IsraelTimes] State media says unnamed assailants opened fire on members of Iran’s Basij paramilitary force, three others maimed.

A member of Iran’s Basij paramilitary force linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was rubbed out during events falling on the anniversary of Mahsa Amini’s death, state media reported Sunday.

Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurd, died in police custody on September 16, 2022, following her arrest for an alleged breach of the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s strict dress code for women.

Her death triggered months-long demonstrations which saw hundreds killed, including dozens of security personnel, in what Tehran labeled as "riots" fomented by foreign governments and "hostile media."

"One person was martyred and three people were maimed" on Saturday evening in a "blind shooting" by two unknown assailants towards Basij guards in the city of Nurabad in Southern Fars province, state news agency IRNA reported.

The news agency did not immediately elaborate on the assailants’ identity or the motivation for the shooting.

"The intelligence, security and law enforcement agencies of the province are trying to arrest the assailants" who fled after the shooting, it said.

The Revolutionary Guards meanwhile announced that a dual national was arrested over "attempts to organize riots and vandalism" in Karaj city west of the capital Tehran.

The Guards did not elaborate further on the suspect’s identity or other nationality.

On Saturday, authorities arrested several groups over accusations of "planning to create chaos" and producing content to serve "hostile media", according to IRNA.

Many of the arrests were made in Amini’s home province of Kurdistan, as well as Iran’s northwest and south, the agency added.

Others were arrested in the northeastern province of North Khorasan for instigating "riots", according to the Mehr news agency.

Authorities in the central city of Isfahan have "identified 97 people" and blocked 15 Instagram pages for attempting to stir up "public opinion" on the anniversary of the protests, IRNA said.
