Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief June 26, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • TALIBAN LEADER SAYS WOMEN’S LIVES ARE BETTER UNDER HIS RULE – “Women are provided with a comfortable, prosperous life.” according to Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Deobandist leader of the Taliban. He went on to say the Taliban wants good relations with the world and stressed that Afghanistan has fulfilled its obligations to the international community. The comments came during his Eid al-Adha message to the country. Based on the draconian gender policies the de facto regime is clinging to, international criticism is a certainty in the coming days.

  • KYRGYZSTAN DELIVERS SHIPMENT OF AID – A humanitarian flight delivered a shipment of medical supplies to Kabul yesterday as Kyrgyzstan has signaled its willingness to assist Afghanistan with its ongoing humanitarian crisis. It is thought that other shipments are being planned but will likely travel by road or rail.

  • LEADERS IN TAKHAR AND KUNDUZ WARN THAT RELOCATING PAKISTANI REFUGEES IN THE NORTH IS THE START OF A ‘LONG TERM PROBLEM’ – As more refugees from the Durand Line are deposited in the two Northern Provinces, local religious and political leaders are beginning to speak out. Many of the political party leaders have set aside their opposition to one another in expressing concerns that the relocation program has already lit the fuze for long-term ethnic conflicts. Sources in the North say that Resistance groups will likely benefit from more local support and recruitment over the hated policy. However, AMU TV interviewed some of the recently arrived refugees and they make the case that the situation in Pakistan is terrible for them and that they were forced to come to Takhar and Kunduz. A source in Kabul said there is concern that ISIS-K will seize on the issue and may attempt to carry out terrorist attacks against the refugees or other ethnic groups in order to sow dissension and make the Taliban look bad. The source went on to say that many Taliban leaders in Kabul have privately questioned the policy and see it as a case of their ‘giving in’ to Islamabad. The situation is tense and merits continued observation.

  • RECENT REPORT FROM IRAN CLAIMS OVER 90,000 AFGHANS HAVE BEEN DEPORTED OVER LAST THREE MONTHS – The Director of the Migrant’s Office in Khorasan Razavi Province released the figures in a report that was made public yesterday. The Director said the deportations were voluntary, but human rights activists say that the threat of violence was used liberally.
NEXT 24 HOURS No Threats Reported

Key bits from earlier, since the last Daily Evacuation Brief was posted:
From Afghan Digest (June 20): CONFLICT TRACKER
Takhar: UFA forces claim to have ambushed a Taliban security patrol in the Ishkemesh district of Takhar early on Monday morning (0600hrs local) 2 Taliban were reportedly killed in the brief encounter. This information has not been confirmed.

From Afghan Digest (June 19): LAST 24 HOURS
  • TTP COMMANDER REPORTEDLY KILLED IN KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA ON SUNDAY – Pakistani counter-terrorism units, acting on fresh intelligence delivered on Saturday, ambushed the TTP Commander, Zafar Khan and two of his senior advisors in an operation on Sunday morning. Khan had reportedly moved across the border from Nangarhar, Afghanistan on or around 22 May. His activities were tracked by Pakistan’s intelligence services who were waiting for Khan to stop in a location for a few days which would give operatives time to raid his safe house. The action took place in the Dara Adam Khel region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and sources said the operation started late on Saturday night but the fighting took place just after midnight local time on Sunday. Zafar was a wanted terrorist who had operated freely in Afghanistan for some time. He was considered to be a warlord who profited off of several kidnapping/ransom schemes and often chose to extort local coal mining operations. The two advisors who were killed with Khan are Hasan Khan and ‘Anas’ (aka Ali and an Afghan citizen). Both advisors had been implicated in several terrorist attacks in both Pakistan and Afghanistan.

  • TOP COMMANDER OF BALOCHISTAN LIBERATION FRONT (BLF) REPORTEDLY KILLED IN ‘NEIGHBORING COUNTRY’ – Nawaz Ali Rind, the leader of the BLF was reportedly killed in an internal power dispute in an unidentified neighboring country on either Saturday or Sunday. Rind has led the group since 2014 but was reportedly being challenged by underlings about strategies the BLF had pursued in 2022. The BLF was thought to be a founding member of the BRAS organization which is a confederation of Balochistan separatist organizations. Pakistani security forces have scored a number of successes against members of BRAS after arresting the Baloch National Army leader, Gulzar Imam Shambay in April 2023. Shambay apparently had a change of heart after his arrest and repented publicly for his participation in several terrorist attacks. It is believed that Shambay’s cooperation has been responsible for many of the counter-terrorism successes in Pakistan’s restive Province.

  • ISRAEL CLAIMS US WEAPONS LEFT BEHIND IN AFGHANISTAN SHOWING UP IN GAZA – An Israeli military commander told a journalist from Newsweek that light weapons the US left behind have been spotted in the possession of militants in the Gaza Strip. While several reports of similar instances have come from India, Pakistan, and Iran, this development represents the farthest known migration of illicit arms from Afghanistan yet.

From Afghan Digest (June18): CONFLICT TRACKER
Kabul: Just before midnight an unidentified Resistance group claims to have killed 2 Taliban fighters in the Koht-i Sangi neighborhood.

From Afghan Digest (June 17): CONFLICT TRACKER
Badakhshan: A Taliban security vehicle was reportedly struck by an IED in an undisclosed location within the province on Friday. There were no details about casualties or which group may have conducted the attack.

From Afghan Digest (June 16): CONFLICT TRACKER
Kabul: AFF fighters posted a video of an attack they claim to have carried out in the Khair Khane neighborhood against a Taliban drcuroty checkpoint. The AFF said that 3 Taliban were killed in thr action.

"He was executed in public in the town of Sultan Ghazi Baba, the centre of Laghman

During the invasions of Alexander the Great, the area was known as Lampaka, wich is apparently Olde Macedonian for Laghman. The city of Mihtarlam serves as the bucolic capital of the province. The population is half Pashtun, the remainder Tadjik and Pashai. It had a repution for great wealth until it was conquered in the tenth century by Abu Mansur Sabuktigin.
He conquered it and set fire to the places in its vicinity which were inhabited by infidels, and demolishing the idol-temples, he established Islam in them, He marched and captured other cities and killed the polluted wretches, destroying the idolatrous and gratifying the Musulmans. After wounding and killing beyond all measure, his hands and those of his friends became cold in counting the value of the plundered property.

province so that he could suffer and become a lesson for others," said provincial information officers.

The murderer was identified as "Ajmal, son of Naseem," and it was noted that he had murdered five people.

The execution was witnessed by 2,000 people, including family members of Ajmal’s victims, according to a provincial information and culture department official who spoke to AFP. The official also stated that the punishment and death were carried out in accordance with Sharia law.

The victim’s mother told BBC that the Taliban had urged her to forgive the murderer, but she insisted on execution.

"Taliban came to me and begged me to forgive this infidel. They insisted that I forgive this man for the sake of God, but I told them that this man must be executed and buried the same as he did to my son. This could be a lesson to other people," she told BBC.

The Taliban carried out their first public execution since the takeover in December 2022 when the victim’s father shot a man convicted of murder at a crowded sports stadium in southwestern Farah province, media reported.

The UN denounced the act and showed extreme concern.

In the first period of ruling from 1996 to 2001, the Taliban was condemned for regularly carrying out punishment in public, including execution at the national stadium in Kabul.

Kabul City: Talibs Rescue Kidnapped Turkish Engineer, Brutally Murder Returned German Company Employee
Afghan Security Forces Rescue Kidnapped Turkish Engineer

[KhaamaPress] Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
’s police command in Kabul said that Afghan cops have rescued a kidnapped Ottoman Turkish engineer in the 12th provincial district of capital Kabul.

Kabul security chief in a news release said that the Ottoman Turkish engineer was kidnapped on Monday, Jun 19, from the ninth provincial district in Kabul.

According to the news release, the foreign national was rescued through a joint operation conducted by the security forces and the Taliban’s intelligence unit in provincial district nine of Kabul city.

Prior to this, several similar criminal incidents took place in Kabul and other provinces resulting in the death of engineers and business people.

This increased number of kidnapping individuals is worrying for the people — therefore calling on security forces to initiate decisive actions to prevent such criminal incidents in the heart of Kabul.

Security remains a major challenge for the de facto authorities of Afghanistan. Since the group’s return to power in August 2021, terrorist attacks, assassinations and abductions continue in Kabul and other parts of the country, claiming the lives of scores of innocent individuals.

Former GIZ Employee Brutally Slain by Taliban in Kabul

[8am] Sources in Kabul claim that the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
have killed an employee of the German organization GIZ in the city.

Former employees of the institution and relatives of Hamidullah Bahlol have written on their Facebook page that he was killed two days ago (Sunday, June 18) in Kabul.

Bahlol had recently traveled to Germany during the evacuation process, and it is alleged that the Taliban forced him to return to the country by taking his son hostage.

Hamidullah’s son has also confirmed the murder of his father.

So far, the Taliban have not commented on the matter.

Bahlol had been working at the GIZ office in Nangarhar

province before the Taliban recaptured Kabul.

He left the country after the fall of Kabul to the Taliban.

Despite the Taliban’s announcement of a general amnesty, the group continues to detain, torture, and even kill former government officials, international organization employees, and other civilians and military personnel under various pretexts.

...Arabic for students...
on charges of collaborating with ISIS, has killed two Taliban fighters and injured three others in the province.

According to sources, on Thursday, June 22, it was revealed that the soldier had been a former commander of a police checkpoint under the previous government and was recently arrested by the Taliban.

...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...

Three Former Government Soldiers Arrested in Panjshir Province After Talib Provincial Gov Sez Security Improved
[8am] Local sources in Panjshir Province have reported that the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
have detained three officers of the former government’s army in the province.

Sources, in conversation with Hasht-e Subh, state that the Taliban arrested these three individuals on Thursday morning, June 22, from the Piawesht village of Rokha district and transferred them to an unknown location.

The sources identify these soldiers as Khan Alam, Tala Mohammad, and Wasiqullah, adding that these individuals were involved in personal affairs after the Taliban took control.

According to the sources, the Taliban recently conducted inspections of the residents’ homes in Piawesht for unknown reasons.

The Taliban have not made any statements regarding this matter thus far.

This development comes as, over the past week, the Taliban have detained at least four former government soldiers who are residents of the Piawesht village in Rokha district, Panjshir Province, and relocated them to an undisclosed location, including the city of Kabul.

Overall Security Improved in Panjshir Province, Says Provincial Governor

[KhaamaPress] Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
’s governor for Panjshir province Mohammad Agha Hakim met Afghanistan’s acting Prime Minister Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, and stated that overall security has improved to a great extent in Panjshir province.

Taliban’s Arg (presidential palace) in a series of tweets said the provincial governor assured PM Kabir that Taliban officials are treating local residents in Panjshir province with decency.

Mr. Hakim further added that local residents of the province have asked the de facto authorities to construct the roads linking the bucolic provincial capital to districts.

During the meeting, PM Kabir stressed that development projects should be prioritized and implemented in that province in consultation with the local residents.

Nearly a week ago, Amnesia Amnesty International in its latest report highlighted that the brutal behavior of the Taliban group towards ordinary people of Panjshir is considered a "war crime".

However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
the Taliban officials have persistently denied such claims and described them as "baseless propaganda" against the ruling regime.

After the collapse of the former government, many former army personnel moved to Panjshir province and stood alongside the National Resistance® Front (NRF) to resist the Taliban.

However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
no serious security incident has occurred in that province over the past couple of months, according to Taliban provincial security officials.

Taliban’s Brutal Act: Public Whipping in Paktika Province
[8am] Reports from sources in Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
province indicate that the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
have publicly lashed a man in the region for engaging in illicit relations. The punishment took place on Thursday morning, June 22, in the Matakhan district.

According to local sources, the Taliban gathered dozens of residents from the district to witness the implementation of this sentence. The Taliban Supreme Court mentioned in a newsletter that the punishment of "whipping" had been issued by a provincial court in Paktika.

Prior to this incident, the Taliban had administered whippings to several men and women in the Paktika region for various offenses, primarily for engaging in illicit relationships. Despite receiving both domestic and international reactions, the group has intensified its public punishments since last year.

In the most recent case, the Taliban carried out a public execution by hanging an individual who had murdered five people in Laghman
...Afghan province with a population of about 445,600, which is multi-ethnic and mostly a rural society. Taliban Fighters Suffocate and Kill Elderly Tribal Leader in Sar-e Pul
[8am] Local sources in Sar-e Pul Province have reported a disturbing incident involving Taliban
...Arabic for students...
fighters, who allegedly kidnapped and suffocated an elderly tribal leader in the region. The assailants reportedly used a cloth to silence their victim.

According to the sources, Gholam Hussain, a highly respected figure from the village of Paroshan in the Balkhab district, fell victim to the Taliban members’ brutal act on the night of Wednesday night, June 21.

Confirming the incident, local Taliban officials in Sar-e Pul have announced the arrest of one of their fighters, who stands accused of the murder of Gholam Hussain.

The Taliban attributes the motive behind this heinous event to personal animosities, underscoring the deeply rooted conflicts within the region.

Sadly, this incident follows another violent mostly peaceful episode that occurred on the night of Tuesday, June 20th, when an unidentified gunman opened fire in Mirzaolang village, situated in the Sayyad district of Sar-e Pul Province.

The merciless killing of innocent civilians by Taliban fighters has regrettably become an all-too-familiar occurrence. Such acts of violence have been previously perpetrated under various pretexts by the Taliban, posing a grave threat to the lives and security of the country’s citizens.

Parwan province: Fmr Mil. Prosecutor Detained by Talibs, Yoots Hassled for Haircuts
Former Military Prosecutor Detained by Taliban in Parwan, Raising Concerns of Continued Rights Violations

[8am] Local sources have reported the arrest of a former military prosecutor by the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
in Parwan province.

According to the sources, the prosecutor, identified as Zakaria, was apprehended on Tuesday, June 20th, by Taliban intelligence forces at his residence in the village of Khoshkak, Sheikh Ali district.

Zakaria had previously served as a military prosecutor in the army of the former government, stationed in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
The motive behind the arrest of this esteemed military official remains unknown at this time.

The Taliban have refrained from commenting on the matter, leaving many questions unanswered.

It is important to note that ever since assuming power, the Taliban have detained and imprisoned numerous civilian and military prosecutors who served in the previous government, across various regions of the country. Tragically, some of them have even fallen victim to acts of murder.

Human rights organizations have repeatedly accused the Taliban of gross violations of human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
and pointed out their vengeful actions against former government officials.

Youth in Bagram District Humiliated and Beaten for Trimming and Shaving Beards: Sources

[8am] According to local sources in Parwan province, the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
have been publicly humiliating and punishing several youths in the Bagram district for trimming and shortening their beards.

On Thursday, 22 June, residents of Bagram district have sent consistent messages to Hasht-e Subh, stating that the Taliban’s virtue promotion and vice prevention personnel have been patrolling the district’s roads for the past month, taking action against individuals who have violated their rules.

One resident from Bagram district said, "The Taliban’s virtue enforcement personnel have been punishing young people on the roads for the past month, questioning why they have trimmed or shaved their beards."

The source added, "As a result of these issues, the youth in Bagram district are either migrating or discreetly moving around in the Bagram market."

The Taliban have not yet commented on the matter.

The Taliban’s restrictions on the social lives of people, including the closure of schools and universities for girls beyond the sixth grade, have consistently received criticism from international institutions. However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
these criticisms have not led to any changes in the group’s policies.

Previously, the Taliban had also subjected young people in various provinces of the country to humiliation and punishment for trimming or shaving their beards and hair.

Local Residents Engaged in Tense Battle Against Nomadic Intruders in Khaja Bahauddin, Takhar Province
[8am] Local sources in Takhar province have reported a fierce conflict between residents of Khaja Bahauddin district and a group of nomads in the region.

According to reliable sources cited by Hasht-e Subh, the confrontation erupted on Tuesday, June 20, resulting in an injury to one nomad.

These sources reveal that a group of nomads infiltrated the village of Naw-Abad-e Sajani in Khaja Bahauddin district, posing a grave threat to around 300 families and their cherished homes, leaving them under immense pressure to evacuate.

Furthermore, it has come to light that these residents were formerly inhabitants of the Migrant Qushlaq village but recently resettled in Nowabad-e Sajani, driven by aspirations for a better life.

Disturbingly, the sources claim that those who dare to resist the nomads are unjustly apprehended on charges of affiliations with ISIS and the Resistance® Front.

Regrettably, festivities between nomads and settled residents have become a recurring issue.

With the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
’s resurgence in Afghanistan, nomads have consistently engaged in hostile encounters with native residents across multiple locations, coercing them into abandoning their cherished homes.

Man Shot by Taliban for Daring to Speak Out: Criticism Comes at a Deadly Price
[8am] In a shocking incident, a man in Samangan province was shot by a local Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
commander for criticizing the group’s performance.

Local sources confirm that a resident of Roy-e Duab district, following his attempt to lodge a complaint regarding harassment and intimidation by local Taliban commanders to the group’s Interior Minister, was apprehended and subsequently shot on the orders of Qari Muawiya on Tuesday, June 13.

The victim, identified as a farmer, had no prior military background, as stated by the sources.

So far, the Taliban have not commented on the matter.

It is worth mentioning that last week, Sirajuddin Haqqani
...son of Pashtun warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani, still titular head of the Haqqani Network....
, the Minister of Interior Affairs for the Taliban, visited several provinces during his trip to the northern region of the country.

This is not the first instance of non-combatants being targeted by the Taliban in Samangan due to criticism of the group’s actions. Previously, Abdullah, a resident of Dar-e-Suf Payin district in this province, was shot after filing a complaint against the mistreatment of individuals by a local Taliban commander in the district.

The Taliban have previously warned that no one has the right to criticize the group’s operations.

Air strikes, artillery, killings in Sudan as aid stalls
[AlAhram] Artillery fire, air strikes and shootouts rocked Sudan's capital on Saturday, witnesses told AFP, as the UN urged a stop to "wanton killings" that have left decomposing bodies in Darfur.

While fighting rages, relief efforts have stalled after more than two months of fighting between rival generals.

Houses in Khartoum shook from the fighting that continued unabated, residents said, with entire families sheltering in place, running low on vital supplies in the baking summer heat.

#1  "The UN on Saturday urged "immediate action" to stop killings of people fleeing El Geneina, the West Darfur state capital, by Arab militias aided by the paramilitary RSF."
This statement does not make sense, because the conflict in Darfur gives all the appearance of a war between Arab and Non Arab tribes.
Thus, what is more to the point of what is happening:
"The Geneva-based UN rights office said witnesses had given "corroborating accounts" of [Arab] militias targeting men from the non-Arab [African] Masalit people."

Al-Shabaab kills five civilians in Kenya, some by beheading: Police
[Garowe] al-Shabaab
...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them...
bandidos snuffies have killed five civilians, some by beheading, in eastern Kenya, a witness and a police source told AFP on Sunday.

The attack occurred on Saturday around 7:30 pm (1630 GMT) in the villages of Juhudi and Salama in Lamu county, which borders Somalia, the police source said.

"Five people were killed. The victims were slashed and there are others who had their heads chopped off."

Resident Hassan Abdul said that "women were locked in the houses and the men ordered out, where they were tied with ropes and butchered."

A secondary school student was among the five people killed, Abdul said, adding that "all those killed were slashed and some of them had been beheaded."

Another local resident, Ismail Hussein, said that the hard boyz stole food supplies before leaving, firing their arms into the air.

Kenya first sent troops into Somalia in 2011 to combat the al-Qaeda-affiliated hard boyz and is now a major contributor of troops to an African Union

UN calls on RSF to stop killing of Sudanese fleeing to Chad
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
office for human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
called on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to condemn and stop the killing of Sudanese fleeing the capital of West Darfur state heading to neighbouring Chad.

Reports and videos from El-Geneina showed Arab elements insulting women and kiddies fleeing on foot to Chad and violent mostly peacefully looting their belongings.

In a statement on Saturday, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said that interviews with Sudanese refugees who have fled El-Geneina, into Adré in Chad confirmed horrifying accounts of armed the RSF- backed militia killing people fleeing El Geneina.

"Our UN Human Rights officers have heard multiple, corroborating accounts that "Arab" militia are primarily targeting male adults from the Masalit community," said OHCHR spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani.

Shamdasani added that the interviewed reported witnessing lifeless bodies strewn along the road, accompanied by the putrid smell of decay. Numerous witnesses described encountering dozens of corpses in an area known as Shukri, approximately 10km away from the border, where it is believed that one or more Arab militias maintain a base.

"The High Commissioner for Human Rights calls on the RSF leadership to immediately, unequivocally condemn and stop the killing of people fleeing El-Geneina, and other violence and hate speech against them on the basis of their ethnicity."

Islah Party affiliates open recruitment centre in Hadhramaut
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Islah Party-affiliated Ministry of the Interior in the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition announced Saturday the opening of recruitment and mobilization in Seiyun city, the center of the oil-rich Hadhramaut province in eastern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
Last Wednesday, the General Directorate of Security and Police in Hadhramaut Valley received dozens of recruits’ files, following Interior Minister Ibrahim Haidan’s directives, to strengthen the party’s security presence in the districts.

The police department in the districts of Hadhramaut Valley will receive about 2,000 recruits from tribes loyal to Islah in the coming days.

This comes at a time when the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) continues to demand the removal of the "First Military Region" forces from the Valley and Desert districts, contrary to the Saudi approach that seeks to integrate these forces into "Dera al-Watan" brigades funded by Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia executes two Yemenis on unspecified charges of 'terrorism'
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Saudi Ministry of Interior has executed two Yemen

is for allegedly joining a terrorist entity.

Abdulrahman Faris Amer al-Marri and Muhammad Salah Omar al-Marri were executed for allegedly carrying out terrorist operations within the Kingdom, according to a statement issued by the ministry.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior attached several accusations to justify the death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
against the two Yemenis.

The statement lacks details on the terrorist entity Faris al-Marri and Muhammad al-Marri joined and its operations within the Kingdom. This raises questions about the true reasons behind the executions, as the Saudi Ministry of Interior’s statement align with previous statements regarding Qatif’s people’s executions.

Escalation between Saudi and UAE factions continues in Shabwah
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Attention turns to the Saudi and Emirati actions in Shabwah governorate, keeping the governorate on course for a decisive battle between Saudi-backed and UAE-backed factions.

On Saturday, Islah forces continued their military build-up in Shabwah province of southeastern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
.
Tribal sources said that new reinforcements from the Ataq axis forces, stationed on the outskirts of Ma’rib province, arrived at Islah Death Eaters’ camps in the Jardan district, bordering the city of Ataq, where the leadership of the Emirati factions is stationed.

The new reinforcements, the second of their kind in less than a week, are part of broad Saudi moves to resolve the Shabwah file.

The coalition command is intensifying its military moves to oust the Emirati partner in Shabwa as a pressure card against the UAE’s efforts to penetrate the oil plateau.

On Saturday, the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), launched a new campaign of raids in Shabwah province.
This came after Hassan Shumaila, a commander in the 21st Brigade affiliated with the STC, was rubbed out by button men near the city of Ataq.

Local sources said that the Shabwah Defense Forces raided a number of citizens’ homes south of the city of Ataq, on charges of pursuing elements involved in the liquidation of Shumaila.

Emirati factions also deployed a number of armored and military vehicles at the entrances and exits of the city, according to local sources in Ataq.

UAE accuses Rashad al-Alimi of collaborating with terrorist groups
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The UAE has accused the president of the “Presidential Leadership Council” loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, Rashad al-Alimi, of implementing agendas of terrorist groups.

Khaled Al-Shamiri, head of the Emirati Center for Political Studies, asserted that Al-Alimi practices the same policy as the Brotherhood, under the guidance of terrorist groups to attack the Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions.

On his Twitter account today, Al-Shamiri said that “Attacking the STC factions aims to put pressure on it.”

This comes after Al-Alimi instructed the Saudi-funded “Dera Al-Watan” forces to remove the flags and pictures of the STC’s head, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, from public places in the city of Mukalla, after his arrival in the city on Saturday

Cyprus thwarts Iranian attack targeting Jews and Israelis — reports
[IsraelTimes] Planned terror attack said foiled by intelligence services cooperating with Israeli, US counterparts; reportedly connected to Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps

A terror attack targeting Jews and Israelis was thwarted in Cyprus, it was reported by Cypriot media on Sunday.

According to the reports, the planned attack was believed linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is a branch of the Iranian army and is considered a terror organization by several countries, including the United States.

Israel’s National Security Council warned earlier this year that Cyprus and Greece are countries where Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
is likely to target Jews and Israelis. The countries are popular destinations for Israeli tourists, in addition to having relatively sizable expat communities.

The Phile News website said the plot was thwarted by Cypriot intelligence services, in cooperation with other foreign agencies, said to be from Israel and the US.

The report said that the attackers were using the northern part of the island as a staging post for the potential attack and that Cypriot intelligence services had closely followed the cell for a number of months.

An unnamed official told the outlet that the foiling of the plot showed that Cyprus would not allow its own territorial conflict to create a "security hole" through which attacks can be carried out.

There was no immediate confirmation from Israeli officials.

In October 2021, Israel said that an Iranian plot against Israeli businesspeople in Cyprus had been foiled. According to reports, the hired killer was of Azerbaijani origin and had arrived in Cyprus on a flight from Russia using a Russian passport.

Landing in Larnaca on the Cypriot southern side of the island, he was said to have made his way to the Ottoman Turkish-controlled city of Paralimni in the north where he rented a room and two vehicles. He reportedly crossed the Ottoman Turkish-Cypriot border back and forth a number of times on a bike.

Iranian plots against Israelis have also been foiled in several other countries over the past year.

In November, Georgian security officials foiled an attempt by a Pak citizen to murder an Israeli in Georgia on orders from an Iranian operative.

In July, Ottoman Turkish forces stymied an attempt by Iranian agents to kill Israelis in Istanbul, arresting three men. The news came a month after the Mossad spy agency and its local counterparts managed to thwart three Iranian attacks targeting Israeli civilians in Istanbul. Iran denied the allegations.
No, no! Certainly not!
Also in June, security forces in Thailand were reportedly successful in preventing an Iranian agent from establishing a terror cell in the country and potentially carrying out attacks against Israelis.

Courtesy of Enver Slager8035, Reuters adds:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday praised the thwarting of what he said was an Iranian attack against Israeli targets in Cyprus.

A statement from Netanyahu's office did not give any more details, but Israeli news website Ynet, without disclosing its sources, said an attack had been planned against Israelis staying in the city of Limassol.

Cyprus declined to comment on whether an attack had been foiled.

FIA arrests 8 for alleged involvement in smuggling of Greece boat tragedy victims
[Dawn] The Federal Investigation Agency arrested on Sunday eight suspects from across the country allegedly involved in smuggling the victims of the Greece boat tragedy.

Last week, an Italia-bound fishing trawler reportedly carrying at least 800 people — including approximately 300 Paks — capsized off Greece. Only 104 people are known to have survived and the chance of finding more survivors was seen as virtually nil.

The incident led to a day of mourning along with a nationwide crackdown initiated by the government on human smugglers.

On Friday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said 82 deceased Pak victims had been recovered while amendments to laws were under consideration to ensure that those involved in human trafficking and employing illicit means to send people abroad would face appropriate punishment.

In a statement issued today, an FIA spokesperson said six human smugglers were arrested for facilitating the illegal journey of the Greece boat tragedy victims and five cases were registered against them.

The suspects, he said, were nabbed from Kallar Syedan, Jhang, and Beautiful Downtown Peshawar

. "They received millions of rupees in return for illegally sending people to Europe."

The FIA identified the smugglers as Tanveer Ahmed, Muhammad Yousuf, Junaid Mehmood, Muhammad Islam, Haider Ali, and Durran Khan. "They sent people to Libya and then off to Europe," the agency added.

The spokesperson added that an inquiry against the men was initiated after identification by the victims’ families.

Another statement issued by the FIA later in the day said that two more suspects, Imran and Muhammad Yahya, were arrested from Sialkot and Gujranwala, respectively.

It stated the men sent the victims to Europa

and took Rs850,000 for facilitating the illegal journeys. "Cases have been registered against them," the FIA added.

Earlier, FIA Deputy Director Rana Shahid Habib formed raid teams in major cities for intelligence-based investigations to arrest human smugglers. He said the teams were constantly in touch with the aggrieved families.

"We are using all our resources to arrest those involved in trafficking and will bring them to justice," Habib vowed.

Assailants attack Iranian-backed militia post in Syria's Deir ez-Zor
[NPASYRIA] On Sunday, four bandidos murderous Moslems from the Iranian-backed Hashemiyoun militia sustained injuries in an armed attack against their headquarters in the city of Abu Kamal, east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A military source of the militia in Abu Kamal said that person or persons unknown targeted with machineguns the headquarters of the Rapid Support forces of the Iranian-backed Hashemiyoun militia on the outskirts of the Abu Kamal desert in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The source told North Press that the attack resulted in "critical" injuries in four members of the militia. They were taken to hospital inside Iraqi territories.

The attack lasted over half an hour and "if support had not come to the bandidos murderous Moslems in the headquarters, the attackers would have fully controlled it due to using up the ammunition," according to the source.

In Syria, with the participation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, dozens of terrorists were eliminated
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] During the joint air strikes of the Syrian army and the Russian Aerospace Forces in the province of Idlib, dozens of terrorists were eliminated, the Ministry of Defense of the Arab Republic confirmed.

In an official statement, the agency said that the operation was carried out in response to recent attacks by armed terrorist groups on the provinces of Hama and Latakia, which claimed the lives of several civilians. They also caused great material damage to the property of the population.

The strikes targeted terrorist headquarters and warehouses in Idlib and drone launch sites, the ministry added.

As reported by IA Regnum , Russian Konstantin Basharov was kidnapped by terrorists of the Islamic State (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) in Syria. The man has not contacted his relatives since May 7. His wife found out about the kidnapping on June 10, when she saw a video with her husband.

In a video message, he said that since 2017 he has been working in Syria as an oil and gas production operator. Basharov's relatives appealed to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the country's embassy in Damascus, the FSB and the presidential administration with a request to save the man from captivity.

In April, the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria reported that the militants were going to carry out provocative shelling in Idlib with the help of attack drones.
Rudaw quantifies:
Russian Arclight airstrikes on Syria’s rebel-held northwest killed at least 13 people, including four civilians, a war monitor reported on Sunday.

At least six civilians and three rebel fighters were killed in Jisr al-Shughur in the strikes according to UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). At least 40 other civilians were maimed in the rebel-held area of Idlib province, the report added.

The observatory later added that the corpse count had risen to 13 in the attack which struck a fruit and vegetable market.

Another three civilians, including two children, and one fighter were killed in a strike outside Idlib city.

Russian forces were responding to dronezaps over the past week that they blame on rebel forces, the monitor said.

SOHR had reported numerous dronezaps on Latakia province, including in Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

Half of Idlib province, as well as parts of Aleppo, Hama, and Latakia provinces, are the last rebel-held bastions in the country after Assad seized back swathes of territory over the course of the brutal Syrian civil war, which erupted in 2011.

A statement by the Civil Defense said that "an initial toll of five non-combatants were killed, and over 20 others were maimed."

The casualties resulted from what was described as a "massacre perpetrated by Russian warplanes targeting a vegetable and fruit market on the outskirts of Jisr al-Shughur, west of Idlib."
