ISIS to Take the Lead in Conducting Terror Attacks in Afghanistan: George Mason Report
[KhaamaPress] Dr. Mahmut Cengiz, an assistant professor at George Mason University in an analytical report claims that ISIS is rapidly growing, and will take the lead in conducting terror attacks in Afghanistan.

Dr. Changis believes that the Islamic Emirate has not been successful in establishing a strong government and the ISIS (ISIS) is trying to fill the vacuum.

He has written on the ’Home Security Today’ website that prior to the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
’s takeover of Afghanistan, ISIS presence was not tangible in Kabul — they were mainly based in Kunar and Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
provinces. With the return of the Taliban to power, ISIS expanded its domain to Kabul and has been behind many brutal attacks in 2022.

Cengis believes ISIS appeared stronger in 2022, as the terrorist group conducted brutal attacks in Mali, Kango, Niger, Nigeria, Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, Philippines, Somalia, and Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
the terror group’s dominance in Afghanistan has been substantial in the past year. Although Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP), and al-Qaeda have also gotten momentum with the return of the Taliban to power, they do not pose threats to the Taliban-run administration, because they have deep ties with the Afghan Taliban.

The author strongly believes that IS-Khorasan will fill the vacuum left by the Taliban in conducting terror attacks. IS-K has the potential and capability the conduct complicated attacks, including motor-bombing, suicide kabooms, and placing explosives, as the group employs all the techniques the Taliban fighter used to apply while fighting the US-backed Kabul regime.

He warns that the terror group will intensify their attacks in the coming future in Afghanistan. he further adds that IS-K targeted different groups including the Taliban’s Haqqani branch last year.

IS-K also targeted Hazara

s and Shias, Sufis, and the diplomatic mission in Kabul. The terrorist fighters have killed Hazaras in scores in mosques, entertainment venues, schools, and other places.

Can Haftar Succeed in Passing the Rule of Libya to His Sons?
[ALESTIKLAL.NET] Following the meeting of General Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all. Actually, he is, but slowly...
with CIA Director William Burns in eastern Libya on January 13, 2023, there were claims that Haftar proposed a solution to the Libyan crisis by withdrawing his candidacy for the presidential elections in exchange for allowing his sons to succeed him.

On January 18, 2023, the Russian writer, Igor Subbotin, confirmed in an article in the local newspaper, Nezavisimaya Gazeta, that Haftar, 79, is ready to give up his candidacy for the presidency of Libya in favor of one of his sons.

Libyan sources also confirmed to al-Estiklal that Haftar’s meeting with Burns and with the head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed al-Menfi, in Cairo on January 9, 2023, revealed his intention to withdraw from politics in favor of one of his sons.

CONDITIONAL WITHDRAWAL
The sources, who asked not to be identified, confirmed that Haftar feels his reign has almost finished because of his health crisis. He also feels that the Libyans have rejected him and countries used to support his reign have abandoned him, so he seeks to prepare his son, Saddam, to succeed him and take over, although he is also popularly rejected.

The same sources explained that Haftar asked his partners in eastern Libya and the Speaker of the Parliament of Tobruk, Aguila Saleh, and al-Menfi, during his meeting in Cairo, to support his son to run in the upcoming presidential elections instead of him.

The Russian writer, Igor Subbotin, said that the negotiations that took place in Egypt on January 9 revealed Haftar’s lack of interest in running for the presidential elections, which are expected to be organized this year under the supervision of international mediators, which could accelerate the transformation of eastern Libya into a pro-Western party.

The writer explained that some attribute the flexibility shown by Haftar regarding the conditions for launching the electoral process to the deterioration of his health, as well as the pressure exerted on him by the international community.

Subbotin confirmed that it was the health condition that prompted Haftar to demand during the negotiations in Egypt not to put obstacles in the way of the possible candidacy of one of his sons, Saddam or Khaled, in the upcoming presidential elections in return for his withdrawal.

William Burns’ meetings with Haftar and the head of the Libyan government, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, were an indication that the Libyan file had turned into a security issue for Washington.

Talk about Washington’s intention to expel the Russian Wagner forces from Libya as part of the operations to clamp down on Moscow in Ukraine was the main headline in Burns talks with Haftar, according to Libyan sources.

They explained to al-Estiklal that Haftar is not a stranger to the Americans, as he holds American citizenship and has many properties in America.

#1  MISSING SON
Libya: The search for ever elusive Seif al-Islam Gaddafi By Ariane Lavrilleux, 12 August 2022 17:17
Although he made a comeback in Libya’s short-lived presidential race in December [2021], Muammar Gaddafi’s son Seif al-Islam has been elusive ever since the election was postponed. As soon as he appeared, he disappeared. The announcement that he would be running in the presidential elections was a bombshell at the end of 2021. However, the election was then postponed indefinitely and the former leader’s son returned to the shadows.
... His hideout remains one of Libya’s best-kept secrets. ... Haftar may yet back Seif, rather than one of his sons. However, as long as Biden is in power (and listens to Hillary Clinton), that is a long shot.

Pakistan based handlers pushing drugs inside J&K through smugglers: SSP Baramulla

Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Amod Nagpure Monday said that Pakistain based handlers under well hatched conspiracy are using smugglers to push drugs inside Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
to spread drug addiction among youth.

Addressing a presser in Baramulla, SSP Baramulla, as reported by news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the Police have arrested four such drug suppliers along with contraband material and cash.

He said on a specific information regarding smuggling of narcotics in Kamalkote area of Uri in Baramulla, a Naka was established at Sultan Daki area and during checking, a vehicle was signaled to stop but it tried to flee and was tactfully stopped.

"Later, four people were arrested along with 1.17 Kgs of Brown Sugar and a cash of Rs.25.39 Lacs. They have been idetified as Naseer Ahmad Bhatti son of Nazar Din Bhatti, Mohd Pazeer son of Abdul Majeed Khanday, Reyaz Ahmad Khanday and Fayaz Ahmad Khanday son's of Mohammed Sharief Khanday--all residents of Uri."

The SSP, while terming the arrest of four smugglers a big catch, said they have got more leads and more such modules are expected to be busted soon.

He also said their network is so strong and they are making every possible efforts to stop drugs entering Jammu and Kashmir. "It's all due to the people's support and cooperation, such modules are being busted", he said.

"We have identified the hotspots and will be using technical as well as human intelligence for such operations in future", he said.

On being asked why drug peddlers are seen free after remaining in lockups, he said, that they get out on bail and police are using a method that whoever will get bail is booked under PSA so that he would remain in the preventive custody.

#1  Given, American Jews make up about < 2% of the U.S. population, yet are the targets of nearly 60% of religious bias crimes.

I did a quick dig of what the Demographics would be about, when compared to what the percentage of each group makes up of the US Population using US Census 2020 data applied to per 1,000 for that group..

Of the 6,312 known offenders in Hate Crime cases (FBI).
I was somewhat surprised to find based on Population size, the American-Blacks that make up 13.6% of the US Census 2020 population, accounted for 21.3% of all Hate Crimes according to FBI Hate Crime data.

I'll leave the rest to those that want to extrapolate it further out into cases per 1,000 ethic/racial population.

I'd say another group is punching above their weight. As I recall, people of middle eastern origin are considered white (by the FBI).

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Washington says ‘no discussion’ of reviving nuclear deal
[Rudaw] Washington has not engaged in any discussions aimed at reviving the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, said spokesperson for the US State Department on Monday in response to a question by Rudaw’s news hound, reiterating that the agreement has not been on US’ agenda.

Reviving the nuclear deal - formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) - looked close in August following a proposed European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
"final" text. However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
Iran’s violent mostly peaceful crackdown on the protests that engulfed the country following the death of Zhina (Mahsa) Amini while in police custody in September led to a barrage of condemnations and sanctions from the international community, also putting on pause the talks aimed at restoring the deal.

"There has been no discussion of resuscitating the JCPOA. That is not on the agenda. It hasn’t been on the agenda when we’ve engaged with partners and it hasn’t been on the agenda when we’ve engaged indirectly with the Iranians," Ned Price told Rudaw’s Diyar Kurda during a press briefing on Monday.

Price stressed that what the US wants to convey the Iranians is "three simple messages" which are "stop killing your people, stop providing UAV technology to Russia, and release the wrongfully detained American citizens."

At least 529 protesters, including 71 children, have been killed and over 19,700 have been arrested since the protests began, according to the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) on Monday.

The Iranian regime has also come under attack amid reports of supplying drones to Russia in the war against Ukraine.

There are a number of dual and foreign nationals being held in Iranian prisons on charges of spying for foreign governments with rights groups accusing Tehran of using them as bargaining chips to gain concessions from world powers.

Iranian policeman rebuked for refusing to enforce mandatory hijab rule
[IsraelTimes] Authorities say officer received ’warnings and training’ after video posted online shows him rejecting a woman’s plea to arrest another woman who wasn’t wearing headscarf.

An Iranian police officer has been reprimanded after he did not enforce the country’s dress code requiring women to cover their hair, local media reported Monday.

A video was widely shared on social media in recent days, showing a police officer in the western province of Kermanshah telling a woman that he did not consider the hijab, or headscarf, to be compulsory for women.

"This lady wants to go out in this outfit... it’s none of my business," the officer is heard saying in response to a woman asking him to confront another woman for not wearing the hijab.

"After a thorough investigation... the officer was summoned... and received the necessary warnings and training," the Tasnim news agency said Monday, citing a statement from the police of Kermanshah province.

The incident comes against the backdrop of a nationwide protest movement triggered by the September 16 death in jug of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old ethnic Kurd who had been arrested for an alleged breach of the same dress code for women.

Since the start of the protests, women have increasingly been seen without the hijab in public places, in many cases without eliciting a reaction from the police.

But in January, local media reported that the police had resumed enforcement of hijab-wearing in cars, with violators receiving a text message warning from the police.

Iran deports 63 Pakistanis
[Dawn] Iranian authorities deported 63 Pak immigrants colonists via Mir Javeh-Taftan border crossing near Chagai district on Sunday.

Parliament Bureau postpones decision on legislative session as FPM declares boycott

"The discussions will be continued next Monday," Parliament Secretary-General Adnan Daher said after a meeting for the Parliament Bureau on Monday.

The legislative session's agenda includes 81 articles, most notably the capital control law and the extension of the terms of directors general and security chiefs, topped by General Security chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim, who reaches the age of retirement next month.

FPM chief Jebran Bassil had told al-Akhbar newspaper that the Strong Lebanon bloc "certainly will not take part" in the session, noting that "what applies to the caretaker cabinet amid the presidential void also applies to parliament, which is considered an electoral body except for emergency and utmost necessity situations."
