Biden's revolving door border sees illegal migrants cross Rio Grande into Texas, just HOURS after being bussed out of US and back into Mexico with police escort
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Hundreds of migrants were filmed crossing illegally into El Paso, Texas from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico on Sunday night

  • It had been a busy weekend for CBP officials with reports by El Paso sector of more than 2,600 crossings in the 24 hours between Friday and Saturday

  • Ahead of the mass crossing, Mexican police brought 20 buses full of migrants back across the border into Ciudad Juarez, the city across from El Paso
Mexican police? That looks like an act of war.
  • It's thought many of those who were brought back into Mexico simply repeated the journey in crossing the Rio Grande river which separates the two cities

Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief December 12, 2022
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • PAKISTAN / AFGHANISTAN TRADE BLOWS AT BORDER – Border security forces traded artillery and heavy mortar fire on Sunday near the Spin Boldak-Chaman crossing. Taliban officials claimed Pakistani security forces had crossed into Afghan territory to repair fencing and the situation escalated. Pakistan has reported that 7 people were killed (6 non-combatants, and 1 Army soldier) and that over 30 non-combatants are gravely injured. Afghanistan reported 3 deaths (1 Taliban fighter, and 2 non-combatants) and approximately 10 wounded. Both sides have rushed reinforcements to the border and more are expected to arrive today. Pakistan has deployed units of self-propelled, long-range artillery to reinforce the border around Chaman. Taliban reinforcements have consisted of truck-borne light infantry units. The border crossing is currently closed to all traffic and local eyewitnesses have reported some local residents were evacuating the town of Chaman. The situation remains tense and an escalation of the violence could occur with little to no warning.

  • HEKMATYAR CONVENES PLANNING GROUP – After making provocative statements about an unknown threat to his followers, the warlord has reputedly called for a conference of his close associates (those with military experience) as well as close allies from the Soviet occupation days. It is not clear who he believes may be targeting him and whether he intends to launch some kind of operation. It is also not clear if the Taliban would sanction any such operation. He has often been at odds with the Taliban leadership and may represent a threat to their power.

  • MODERATE EARTHQUAKE HITS SEVERAL PROVINCES – A 4.2 magnitude quake rattled Kabul and several other Provinces on Sunday morning. No casualties or damage has been reported.

  • TAJIKISTAN QUIETLY INCREASES TROOP LEVELS ALONG AFGHAN BORDER – Local sources have noticed the addition of several hundred troops stationed along the Tajik border in recent days. The reinforcements began arriving shortly after the news was leaked that the perpetrators behind the thwarted attack on Hekmatyar’s political offices were Tajikistan nationals.

NEXT 24 HOURS
  • THREAT OF VIOLENCE ALONG BORDER WILL REMAIN HIGH – Yesterday’s events at Spin Boldak-Chaman marked a significant escalation between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Not since the air and artillery strikes that were carried out by Pakistan earlier this year has the threat of war been so high. There are several contributing factors that make further violent exchanges a dangerous proposition for regional peace:

    • The continued construction on the Durand Line has incensed Afghanistan’s populace

    • The assumption is that the TTP is using Afghanistan as a safe haven from which to launch attacks

    • Pakistan’s dependence on Afghan coal to meet its domestic energy needs

    • Political and economic turmoil in both countries

    • Pakistan’s perceived cooperation with the United States

The worrisome part of this situation is that Kabul/Kandahar does not appear to have much control over local commanders and units. This has been demonstrated on several occasions and along more than one border. While it is possible the Taliban have empowered local commanders to act of their own volition, the way earlier cross-border incidents that have occurred seemed to indicate the actions taken by local commanders had not been sanctioned. A similar situation exists on the Western border with Iran, and Kabul is continually obliged to send delegations to smooth over incidents with their Iranian counterparts. At-risk Afghans are advised to continue monitoring the situation closely. If a border crossing must be undertaken, it is recommended to call ahead and verify the situation. Even if the current ruckus is de-escalated, the cross-border conflict looks as if it will be a problem well into the new year.

  • POSSIBLE FOLLOW-ON-TERROR ATTACKS – Terror organizations often attempt to exploit the confusion and chaos created by cross-border disputes. With active terrorist organizations in both Pakistan and Afghanistan, one or both countries could see potential terror attacks in the coming days. At-risk Afghans should be cognizant of their surroundings and limit exposure:

    • in public places where people gather

    • near Taliban/Pakistani security checkpoints

    • in places of worship and minority neighborhoods

    • on public transportation

[The Nation (Pak)] Afghan Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...

Emergency has been imposed at Chaman hospital.

Clashes in Spin Boldak Leave Seven People Dead

[ToloNews] Clashes that occurred in Spin Boldak port alongside the Durand Line have left seven people dead and more than 20 others maimed, according to official sources on both sides of the Durand Line.

The Pakistain Foreign Ministry said in a statement that six Pak nationals were killed and 17 others were maimed.

Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistain, in a tweet condemned the festivities and urged the current government to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.

Local officials in Kandahar said that one Islamic Emirate force member was killed and 13 others including civilians were maimed.

"Yesterday, an incident happened. The joint committee of the two countries sat together. They solved the problems and the gate is opened like always," said Mohammad Wali, a media director of Spin Boldak.

"The young man that you see today, his name is Mohammad Raza and was martyred yesterday," said Abdul Khaliq, a resident of Spin Boldak.

The festivities inflicted financial damage on the residents.

"Every time Pakistain starts festivities, it targets houses, while the (Afghan) military bases are so close, still they fire shells at the houses," said a resident of Spin Boldak.

Residents called on both sides to avoid fighting.

"We call on Pakistain to have mercy on us and not target us. We are the common people. We have not harmed anyone," said Mohammad Ayoub, a resident.

The head of the Spin Boldak security department, Mohammad Hashim, said that the festivities happened on Sunday afternoon while the Islamic Emirate forces were trying to build a checkpoint along the Durand Line.

Asadullah Nadim, a military veteran, said: "Misunderstanding, lack of awareness of duties and responsibilities on the borders, are the main reason for the intensification of tensions between the Taliban

and Pak border forces."

Taliban Carry Out First Public Execution Since Afghan Takeover
[THEEPOCHTIMES] The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
on Wednesday executed an Afghan convicted of killing another man, the first public execution since the terrorist group took over Afghanistan last year, a front man said.

The announcement underscored the intentions by Afghanistan’s new rulers to continue hard-line policies implemented since they took over the country in August 2021 and to stick to their interpretation of Islamic law, or Sharia.

The execution, carried out with a rifle by the victim’s father, took place in western Farah province before hundreds of spectators and many top Taliban representatives, according to Zabihullah Mujahid, the top Taliban front man. Some representatives came from the capital Kabul.

The decision to carry out the punishment was "made very carefully," Mujahid said, following approval by three of the country’s highest courts and the Taliban supreme leader, Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada
...Former deputy to Taliban supremo Mullah Akhtar Mansour, now The Big Man Himself...
The executed man, identified as Tajmir from Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province, was convicted of killing another man five years ago and stealing his cycle of violence and mobile phone. The victim was identified as Mustafa from neighboring Farah province. Many Afghan men use only one name.

Taliban security forces had arrested Tajmir after the victim’s family accused him of the crime, said a statement from Mujahid, the front man. The statement did not say when the arrest took place but said Tajmir had purportedly confessed to the killing. Mujahid added that Tajmir was shot three times by the victim’s father Wednesday with a rifle.

During the previous Taliban rule of the country in the late 1990s, the group carried out public executions, floggings and stoning of those convicted of crimes in Taliban courts.

IPOB militia kidnaps new-born children in Southeast of Nigeria
[Garowe] The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) militia have kidnapped five new-born babies on the Nigeria’s South East. IPOB attacked Stanley Hospital, Nkpologwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state.

They also took the wrappers and clothes of the women who had delivered the babies. Residents expressed concerns that the incident could be for ritual purposes.

The button men did not kill anyone neither did and did not burn any cop shoppe or attack facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission, their usual targets.

A patient at the hospital said that "They didn’t shoot as usual but they drove to the hospital early morning, took the newly born babies and drove off. We were told that they threatened to kill anybody who opened his or her mouth in that hospital. Everybody is living in fears now in Anambra."

Muhammadu Buhari-Nigerian President expressed shock over the kidnapping and has directed the military to ensure that the rising crime rate in the areas be tackled with speed.

IPOB have pledged to make Anambra ungovernable because the governor stepped up security in order to stop mayhem being perpetrated by the secessionist group and its Eastern Security Network (ESN) which is the militia arm group.

The proscribed IPOB and its ESN have continually engaged in violent mostly peaceful campaign in the Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo and Abia states in the south east which they excised from Nigeria and declared it a sovereign country of Biafra, similar to what happened in 1967.

The leader and founder of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has been in detention since 2020, facing trial for treason, felony and murder but his followers have continued the campaign.

Lockerbie bombing suspect in US custody two years after being charged
[NYPOST] A suspect in the United Kingdom’s deadliest terror attack was in US custody Sunday morning.

Abu Agila Mohammad Masud Kheir Al-Marimi
...previously in our archives as merely Abu Agila Mas'ud, Abu Agila Mohammed Masud, and Abu Agila Mohammad Masud ...
was arrested for allegedly helping make the bomb that blew up Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988, officials said.

The plane was en route from London to New York when it exploded, killing 270 people, including 11 on the ground in the small town near England.

Victims of the attack included 190 Americans and citizens of 20 other countries. Dozens of the slain passengers were Syracuse University students flying home for Christmas after spending a semester studying abroad.

In a statement Sunday, Syracuse University Chancellor Kent Syverud said the development was a notable step in the process “to bring those responsible for this despicable act to justice.”

Masud was taken into custody two years after authorities charged him in connection with the massacre. He was being held by Libyan authorities.

The suspect is the third Libyan intelligence official charged in the attack, but would be the first to stand trial on US soil.

“At long last, this man responsible for killing Americans and many others will be subject to justice for his crimes,” William Barr, the US Attorney General at the time, said at a news conference.

It was unclear how the US negotiated his extradition.

Masud had been kidnapped from his Tripoli residence by armed men last month, and his family accused the government of not responding to the apparent abduction, according to reports by Lybian news outlets.
Sounds like the family tree needs pruning as well
The US got a breakthrough in the Lockerbie crash case in 2017 when it received a copy of a interview in which Masud admitted building the bomb with two other cohorts; Abdel Baset Ali al-Megrahi and Lamen Khalifa Fhimah. The suspect purportedly gave the confession to law enforcement after Khadafy’s government dissolved in 2012.

Al-Megrahi and Fhimah were tried by a panel of Scottish judges sitting in the Netherlands. Al-Megrahi, a former Libyan intelligence officer, was convicted in 2001. He is the only person ever convicted in the terror attack and died in 2012 while trying to appeal his conviction. Fhimah was acquitted of all charges.

SDF says downed alleged Turkish suicide drone in Hasaka
[Rudaw] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Sunday that an alleged Ottoman Turkish drone was downed while attempting to launch an attack on the town of Zirgan in northeast Syria's (Rojava) Hasaka province the night before amid an ongoing Ottoman Turkish aerial campaign.

"Our forces shot down a Ottoman Turkish suicide UAV while it was trying to attack the Zirgan town, causing complete destruction of the Ottoman Turkish suicide UAV," the SDF stated.

on Sunday, Erdogan once again affirmed his desire to complete the 30-kilometer zone along Turkey’s southern border with Syria, according to state-owned Anadolu Agency.

The operation was conducted in the early hours of Sunday in eastern Syrian, according to a statement from CENTCOM, killing two ISIS officials who were allegedly involved in facilitating the group’s operations in the area.

The statement reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to combating the threat of ISIS in cooperation with their allies in Syria.

"ISIS continues to represent a threat to the security and stability of the region. This operation reaffirms CENTCOM’s steadfast commitment to ensuring the group’s enduring defeat," said Joe Buccino, a CENTCOM spokesperson.
