Turkish intelligence and the Turkish National Police captured multiple ISIS operatives

The Turkish intelligence and the Turkish National Police captured ISIS operatives Majbal Al Shuwayhi (“Abu Yakeen Al Iraqi”), Mohammad Helaf Ibrahim (“Abu Lais”) and Iyhab Alani (“Abdullah Al Jumaili”) as well as 29 people who were in contact with them.

... The Ottoman Turkish intelligence (MIT) established that al-Shuwayhi, the chief intelligence officer of Salman-e Farisi Brigade (DAESH group in Turkiye) and Abu Lais were plotting an attack against synagogues and churches in Turkiye.

Al Jumaili, in turn, was planning to attack the Iraqi Embassy in Ankara.

All 29 suspects were taken into custody earlier today in coordinated raids across nine Ottoman Turkish provinces.

The authorities also seized a trove of digital materials.

The three ISIS members provided detailed information to the Ottoman Turkish authorities regarding their recruitment, activities in Syria and Turkiye, and individuals operating on behalf of ISIS in Turkiye.

The operation dealt a heavy blow to the Salman-e Farisi Brigade, which operates on behalf of ISIS on Ottoman Turkish soil.

While Turkiye effectively combats ISIS, the U.S., claiming to arm PKK/YPG against ISIS, experiences an intelligence failure.

The Times of Israel adds:

The arrests came a week after police rounded up 304 suspected IS operatives in simultaneous raids across Turkey in what appeared to be a security sweep leading up to the New Year festivities.
