VP cancels her California trip to campaign with Gov. Gavin Newsom and returns to DC

  • She was originally supposed to be the headliner at the Stop the Republican Recall car rally at the historic Cow Palace outside of San Francisco on Friday

  • Newsom had hoped to use Harris to draw out Democratic turnout in the recall election as he slips in the polls

  • A short time later, Harris' spokeswoman tweeted that she would be returning to DC instead, Newsom's campaign canceled the event

  • It is unclear whether it will be rescheduled

#5 Newsom prolly asked her to waive off. As bad as it is for him, she's glowing green radioactive right now. Mighta been a WH "optics" issue also. The Big Guy is expected to head to Cali to campaign for Newsom next weekish. Recall is underway w/votes due by 14 SEPT. Everything I read says it's too close to call right now.
