  • Only a dozen agents out of 19,000 CBP workers are patrolling the area in Texas

  • Texas and New Mexico see 60 percent of all illegal crossings into the US

  • An official with a Border Patrol union said agents are frustrated and burned out

  • One anonymous agent described clearly being able to see migrants crossing the Rio Grande River but not having the manpower to do anything about it

  • Under the Biden administration many agents have been sidelined to processing and transporting migrants rather than actively patrolling the border

  • There were more than 212,000 migrant encounters in July, a 21-year high

  • More than 10,000 CBP employees have tested positive for COVID since the pandemic began.
