[LawEnforcementToday] A criminal anti-Israeli anti-Semite who was caught ripping down Israeli child hostage posters in the city after the brutal Hamas attack on Israel in 2023, was back to her old tricks this week when she randomly discharged pepper spray at two NYPD officers in Times Square.
She then attempted to disarm one of them, according to NYPD sources, speaking to The New York Post.
Dana Baraket walked up to the two officers as they walked along Broadway and 47th Street shortly after 1:15 and, without provocation, sprayed them in the eyes and face, sources said.
Baraket, 19, then tried to grab the duty sidearm from one of the officers while repeatedly yelling, “kill me!”
Baraket was unsuccessful in disarming the officer and was subsequently arrested at the scene, police said.
The unhinged Baraket was charged with robbery, assaulting a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of or selling of a noxious material, and harassment, NYPD said.
The officers, rookies to the NYPD and assigned to the NYPD’s Times Square Unit, were transported to a local hospital where they were listed in stable condition.
An NYPD source told The Post that the officers “did an excellent job under extreme pressure and stress,” noting “they were intentionally ambushed by the attacker.”
“Within seconds of being attacked, they quickly de-escalated the situation without anyone being seriously injured, and placed the attacker in handcuffs.”
As mentioned, this isn’t Baraket’s first brush with the law. In October 2023, just weeks after Hamas launched an unprovoked and deadly attack on Israel, killing over 1,200 people and taking hundreds hostage, including American citizens, she was filmed tearing down the Israeli child hostage posters from a storefront window. She was accompanied by her sister Aya while yelling “Fuck Israel!” on the Upper West Side.
The two anti-Semites were confronted by a woman named Marilyn Adler and her two daughters after the pair turned on them, leading her to believe that they would harm her daughters.
The video, widely shared online by the non-profit Stop Antisemitism, showed Adler’s daughter Melissa begging the two women to stop, telling them the children in the pictures were “innocent civilians.”
In response, one of the two yelled, “Fuck you! Fuck Israel!”
Hasan Baraket, the father of the two, told The Post that he spoke to his daughters after seeing coverage of the confrontation on the front page of The Post.
Hasan hails from Lebanon and lives in New York. He said he disapproved of their inflammatory language but claimed they are not anti-Semitic and said their actions were taken out of context.
The Baraket sisters said they were “provoked” by Adler, whom they accused of snatching a photo of a Palestinian baby from their hands, Hasan Baraket said.
