2 Kupawara wannabe turbans tied up
2022-02-27

Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
police on Saturday arrested two men in Lolab area of north Kashmir's Kupwara "planning to join turban ranks".

News agency KNO quoted a police front man as saying that the accused identified as Rashid Ahmad Peer, son of Abdul Ahad Peer of Tekipora, Lolab and Adil Hussain Shah, son of Ghulam Muhammad Shah of Shat Muqam, Lolab were apprehended by Kupwara Police along with 28 RR in a joint operation in Lolab.

"Both the individuals were indulged in anti-national activities and were planning to join turban ranks, in order to revive militancy in the area besides providing active support to turbans, " police said.

"Both the individuals came under observation of the security forces when they were found suspicious in their movement and pro-militancy activity on social media platform, " it added.

"Based on the inputs developed by Police, the duo was apprehended and put to sustained questioning. During the course of investigation, incriminating material including posters, photographs, videos and contents of conversation with active hard boyz and turban handlers from across were recovered from the mobile phones of both the individuals."

A case under FIR number 07/2022, under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Sogam against them & the investigation in the case is under progress, police said, adding that the "timely joint efforts of security forces resulted in averting major incident in the area, which has witnessed peace for the past two three years".

Pakistan Railways Minister ScrambledEgged And Thrashed in London
2019-08-23
[FinancialExpress] Sheikh Rashid Ahmad who had earlier called India's decision to revoke special status to Jammu and Kashmir a 'blunder'. He also said that "India was unable to confront Pakistan as it knew that any war between the two Asian countries would not be a conventional war."

Pakistan Railways minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad was on Tuesday pelted with eggs and beaten up by two officials of the Pakistan People's Party in London. The incident took place when Rashid came out of a hotel after attending an awards ceremony in London. Following the incident, two PPP officials in UK - Asif Ali Khan and Samah Namaz - released a statement claiming responsibility for the attack.

The officials said that they assaulted Rashid because he had been using 'abusive language' for PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Pakistan-based Geo TV cited their statement in which they said: "He (Sheikh Rashid) has been using abusive and bad language during interviews against our Chairman Mr Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He should be thankful we only used eggs as a British way of dealing with such uncivilised politician. He started this we ended it."
I suppose he should be glad they didn't know about the leather sap.

Mob 'besieging' Ahmadi place of worship in Chakwal dispersed by police
2016-12-13
[DAWN] A charged mob of around 1,000 people which reportedly besieged an Ahmadi place of worship in Chakwal was dispersed by police on Monday, officials said.

The place of worship located in the limits of the Chowas Saidan Shah cop shoppe area in Chakwal's Dhalmial district was 'attacked' by nearly 1,000 people, according to the Jamaat-e-Ahmaddiya Pakistain Spokesperson Saleem-ud-Din.

Saleem-ud-Din said a mob armed with batons and weapons was throwing stones and firing on the premises. The mob was "attempting to seize Ahmadiyya property," he said.

Deputy Commissioner Chakwal Mahmood Javed Bhatti said the mob hurled stones and bricks at the place of worship before storming the building, adding that gunnies opened fire on Ahmadis in the area. The DC said that police have now dispersed the crowd and secured the building.

Rashid Ahmad, a local police official, said the mob also set fire to part of the building.

Station House Officer Chowas Saidan Shah Sub Inspector (SI) Muhammad Nawaz told Dawn that police had dispersed the crowd. The situation is under control now, he confirmed, adding that police had not decided on what action to take.

District police officer Chakwal said that a dialogue between local religious leaders and district administration is ongoing.

SI Muhammad Nawaz added that there had been no reports of any casualties.

The Jamaat-e-Ahmaddiya Pakistain spokesperson, however, claimed that there had been one killed in the incident, but was unable to identify the dead.

2013-08-31
[Dawn] Member of the National Assembly, Awami Moslem League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmad's car was hit by a falling stray bullet late on Thursday night, said the police rejecting the MNA's claim of being attacked.

The stray bullet, falling from the sky, was at terminal end of its trajectory at a low velocity and came at a vertical angle, police investigation revealed on Friday.
That kind of thing is clearly Allah's will, which is why the people, in a pious desire to aid him who they worship, send so many bullets randomly upward for his pleasure. Really, it's not merely about the gun sex.
The bullet partially pierced the top sheet of the car's trunk and got stuck there, said a blurb issued by the police.

The stray bullet, falling from the sky, was at terminal end of its trajectory at a low velocity and came at a vertical angle, police investigation revealed on Friday.

Joseph Colony attack: Seven 'lead' arsonists revealed
2013-03-17
[Dawn] Police on Friday released to the media photographs of seven accused wanted in the Joseph Colony attack.
"Round up the usual suspects, Sergeant Siddique."
According to a press release, the Badami Bagh police had declared the seven main accused in a case lodged against attackers for burning the houses of Christians.

The accused were identified as Bao Sajjad Husain, Haji Shabbir Ali, Mian Saleem, Tariq Mahmood, Usman Butt, and two unidentified men.

Judicial remand

An anti-terrorism court on Friday sent 13 accused to jail on judicial remand for Joseph Colony arson.

The court acquitted one accused on the police report.

The Badami Bagh police investigation officer produced the accused before the court under strict security arrangements and stated that the interrogation had been completed and no physical custody of the accused was required. He said the court could send the accused to jail on judicial remand.

The officer also told the court that one of the accused, Mian Saleem, was found innocent in the preliminary investigation. He said the police arrested Saleem due to name similarity with the nominated accused, however, verification of the identity documents proved him innocent.

The court acquitted Saleem and sent 13 to jail on judicial remand. They are: Riaz Gujjar, Amjad, Usman, Latif, Afzal, Imran, Khalil, Nadeem, Imran Ahmad, Muhammad Nazir, Imran Baig, Sheikh Abad and Rashid Ahmad.

50 houses complete

Fifty houses in Joseph Colony have been repaired while work on 64 others is going on.

A city district administration official said 50 families had been shifted to their rehabilitated houses. The houses were built by the Lahore Development Authority with the Communications and Works Department.

Up to 280 families, including 661 children, living in 114 houses at Joseph Colony were displaced when a mob burnt their houses for the alleged blasphemy by a resident of the locality on March 9.

The official said he expected the completion of the remaining houses in three to four days.

Milking a bull
Izharul Haq writes in Dunya that by making an electoral alliance with Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty ...
, Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...

and gain some political leverage.

Sharif is a shrewd businessman and he can make 100,000 rupees out of one rupee, but this is politics. Deriving any benefit from the Maulana in politics is like milking a bull. Fazlur Rehman kept former president Gen Pervez Perv Musharraf

and President Asif Ali Ten Percent Zardari
... husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who has been singularly lacking in curiosity about who done her in ...
in his pocket for eight and five years respectively, and did not let them move.

Tariq Ali supports Imran Khan
Nusrat Javeed writes in his column in Express that he used to hear a lot about Tariq Ali in his college days. Ali was known as a revolutionary, but he really wasn't. His struggle was limited to making speeches in foreign countries.

When Tariq Ali came to Lahore in 1970, the staunch socialists of Lahore did not welcome him. He made his uncle Shaukat Hayat Khan put land reforms in the manifesto of the Moslem League, but they were never implemented.

I don't know what Tariq Ali has been doing since then. I bought his novel but found it too difficult to understand for someone at my level of intellect. I could not read more than a few pages.

Tariq Ali attended the literary festival in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, where he said Imran Khan should get a chance. Imran Khan is cranking out reports after reports through think tanks on how to solve Pakistain's problems. He should set up a think tank for Tariq Ali so that he could talk to the Taliban and bring peace in the country. Tariq Ali's flawless English will make Imran Khan's party more revolutionary.

India steals Pak jokes
Afzal Rehman writes in Dunya that Pakistain has the best comedians. India steals Pak jokes, but Indian comedians make one cry, instead of making one laugh. Punjabi is the ideal language for comedy.

Halva and Naswar at APC
Eeported in Dunya, Maulana Fazlur Rehman served Naswar and Halva to the participants of his All Parties Conference. The participants ran towards the Halva dishes as if they were starving for weeks.

Taliban can't sleep
Daily Dunya juxtaposed two statements - one by Interior Minister Rehman Malik
Pak politician, Interior Minister under the Gilani government. Malik is a former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) intelligence officer who rose to head the FIA during Benazir Bhutto's second tenure. Malik was tossed from his FIA job in 1998 after documenting the breath-taking corruption of the Sharif family. By unhappy coincidence Nawaz Sharif became PM at just that moment and Malik moved to London one step ahead of the button men. He had to give up the interior ministry job because he held dual Brit citizenship.
and the other by Punjab Home Minister Rana Sanaullah.

Malik says his security strategy is giving the Taliban sleepless nights. Sanaullah says Malik is a confirmed foreign spy.

Mr Bean of Moslem society
Sohail Bawa complains in Islam that holy mans have become an object of fun and jokes in our society. The Mullah is the Charlie Chaplain or Mr Bean of the Moslem society.

Clerics have been linked to jokes, foolishness, helplessness, poverty and illiteracy in drawing rooms. They are seen as people who call others infidels and promote terrorism.

Anybody can ridicule a holy man. The Mullah is a toy that anyone can play with. When children imitate the mullah who teaches them, their parents laugh and encourage it.

Retired bureaucrats become self-righteous
Famous writer and retired bureaucrat Kishwar Naheed writes in Jang that most generals and civil servants have nothing to do after retirement and they start recalling their evil deeds. They become self-righteous and start writing autobiographies, for example Hassan Zaheer, Roedad Khan, Gen Chishti, Gen Musharraf and Shahid Aziz.

They start fearing Allah in every fourth line. From Qudratullah Shahab to Altaf Gauhar, they all wrote bundles of lies in the name of literature.

Why don't these liars fear Allah when they are in service? Why do they lick the boots of the rulers to get extensions and new assignments when they are retiring?

Taliban do not take Rehman Malik seriously
Quoted in Jang, Taliban front man Ehsanullah Ehsan said his organization did not take Interior Minister Rehman Malik seriously.

He is a comedian and if he continues to talk non-sense, we will take it to mean the government is not serious in holding talks with us.

Fazlur Rehman betrayed Taliban
Abdul Qadir Looni, secretary general of Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...Assembly of Islamic Clergy, or JUI, is a Pak Deobandi (Hanafi) political party. There are two main branches, one led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and one led by Maulana Samiul Haq. Rescue 1122 saves heartbroken lover
Daily Jang reports that Rescue 1122 foiled a suicide attempt by a spinster whose lover betrayed her. She climbed on a tree and threatened to jump down. Intelligence officers in the Cantonment area failed to convince her to climb down. Rescue 1122 rescued her with a crane.

Destruction in Afghanistan after 2014
Writing in Jang, Saleem Safi says he has gone insane telling the policymakers for years that they need to change their strategy against terrorism.

The strategy he suggests is fool proof and can eliminate terrorism. But he vows to keep advising them. He sees complete destruction in Afghanistan after 2014.

Politicians change faces
Quoted in Nawa-e-Waqt, politician Sheikh Rashid Ahmad says politicians are plastic-surgery leaders. They change their faces in every election.

They are like hungry pigeons that would go to anyone for oat.

Ex ISI chief Hameed Gul's son Abdullah Gul states in Ausaf that he has vowed to wage jihad against obscenity and his enemy is the TV channel Urdu One, which is airing immoral Turkish plays that don't reflect the Turkish culture. They are corrupting the youth with semi-nude Turkish plays.

21 suspected arsonists on judicial remand
2013-03-13
[Dawn] As many as 21 suspected arsonists were remanded in judicial custody on Monday.

Police obtained four-day physical remand of 14 others. Police teams took 23 more suspects into custody in ongoing raids against arsonists.

As many as 35 jugged
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
suspects were produced in Anti-Terrorism Court by the police with request for 10-day physical remand.

However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
the judge after hearing arguments from both parties handed over 14 suspects to police on physical remand.

They were Amjad, Irfan, Latif, Afzal, Imran, Riaz, Khalil, Muhammad Imran, Nadeem, Imran Butt, Saleem, and Rashid Ahmad.

While 21 others had been sent to jail for identification parade.

INVESTIGATION: Police investigation into the arson attack continued on different lines.

Senior coppers apparently avoided news hounds to share pace of investigation as no officer neither responded to calls nor replied to text messages.

A police source claimed that the officers remained busy in meetings to speed up efforts to arrest the remaining accused after chief minister's pressure.

He said the suo motu
...a legal term, from the Latin. Roughly translated it means I saw what you did, you bastard...
notice had also upset the government and the police authorities.

The source said all sections of life had openly blamed the police for non-professional handling of the situation, adding that coppers were under immense pressure.

Compensation: District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal on Monday distributed compensation cheques among those whose houses were completely or partially damaged in Badami Bagh arson attack.

He asked the residents to get their bank accounts opened through the help desk officials in order to receive compensation.

Talking to residents during a visit to the locality, he said the CDGL had established a help desk here to facilitate the affected people.

Mengal inspected the construction work along with Senator Kamran Michel at Joseph Colony. He directed the officials to accomplish the task at the earliest.

Reviewing arrangements for the affectees in different camps, he asked the officials concerned to remain active in the entire process of rehabilitation of the affected people. "We will not tolerate any sort of negligence on the part of any official."

He directed the works and services department to reconstruct and repair houses with quality material.

Senators condemn derogatory remarks against President
2011-11-01
[One Pakistan] Members of the Upper House Monday strongly condemned the derogatory remarks against President Asif Ali President Ten Percent Zardari
... sticky-fingered husband of the late Benazir Bhutto ...
by the Punjab Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif during a public rally held on Friday in Lahore.

The Senate resumed its session with Deputy Chairman Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali in the chair.

Raja Zafar-ul-Haq said Shahbaz Sharif talked against corruption and demanded action against the corrupt people but in reaction PML (N) offices in Sindh were burnt. He said this is very undemocratic. He said accountability bill lying in the Senate should be passed at the earliest so that across the board accountability should be carried out.

Osama's killing may cut drone attacks
2011-05-04
[Dawn] The rustics have showed mixed reaction to the news about killing of Al Qaeda leader the late Osama bin Laden
... who is no longer with us, and won't be again...
during an operation in Abbottabad.

Former ambassador Ayaz Wazir described the killing of Osama as a big security failure of the country and criticised prime minister for declaring the killing as a success for Pakistain in a statement. "I don't understand what benefits Pakistain government can get from an operation, which was clandestinely carried out by US forces without taking it into confidence," he said.

He added that the incident would further mount pressure on Pakistain for initiating a military operation in North Wazoo where Americans believed some Al Qaeda elements were still hiding.

But Said Nazir, a retired brigadier from Mohmand
... Named for the Mohmand clan of the Sarban Pahstuns, a truculent, quarrelsome lot. In Pakistain, the Mohmands infest their eponymous Agency, metastasizing as far as the plains of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar, Charsadda, and Mardan. Mohmands are also scattered throughout Pakistan in urban areas including Bloody Karachi, Lahore, and Quetta. In Afghanistan they are mainly found in Nangarhar and Kunar...
Agency, believed that the killing of Osama bin Laden would decrease drone attacks in tribal areas as according to him the US forces succeeded in getting their prime target.
Don't count on it, bub. The Haqqani mob isn't dead yet...
"The killing of Osama in Abbottabad and that too near an army cantonment clearly negates the general impression that high profile Al Qaeda leaders are hiding in tribal areas," he said.
That's a leap of logic that kinda takes the mental breath away...
He added that prior to Osama's killing other top Al Qaeda operatives had been tossed in the calaboose from settled districts of the country.
... while others have been converted to spare parts or flying meat right there in North and South Wazoo...
Senator Hafiz Rashid Ahmad argued that the killing of Osama was timed by the B.O. regime to use it as a slogan in the 2012 elections.
Like Bush the First used stomping Iraq to win the '92 elections. How'd that work out?
Jamaat-i-Islami deputy general secretary for Fata Zar Noor Afridi termed it as an extra-judicial killing and insisted that it was a terrorist act by the US armed forces inside Pak territory.
Taking out Osama bin Laden=a terrorist act. My mind just boggled.
"The US has no right to carry out such terrorist activity inside Pakistain," he said, condemning the incident. He added that rustics would protest intervention of US forces. Former president of Fata Lawyers Forum Karim Mehsud said that the killing of Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad was a clear manifestation of the fact there was no hideout of Al Qaeda in tribal areas.

Chief of Muttahida Qabail Party Habib Orakzai said that the US had no justification to remain in Afghanistan after the alleged killing of Osama bin Laden.

Cleric among 33 killed in Orakzai air strikes
2009-06-13
[The News (Pak) Top Stories] Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jet fighters on Thursday started bombing suspected locations of Taliban militants in the Orakzai tribal agency and the adjoining Hangu district, killing 33 people, including Sunni Supreme Council chief Maulana Muhammad Amin and his nephew, and injuring 29 others.

The local officials, however, put the death toll in the two restive regions at 50, including women and children. The sudden and heavy bombing by the PAF aircraft in the two troubled areas forced thousands of families to migrate towards relatively safer places in Hangu and Kohat districts.

The warplanes targeted militants' positions in Mushti Bazaar, Mushti Mela, Ferozkhel, Sheikhan, Dabori, Ghiljo, Khadeezai, Shahuwam and Sultanzai.Twenty-six people were reportedly killed and 13 others seriously injured in the daylong bombing in these villages of Orakzai Agency.

The warplanes also targeted a madrassa run by prominent cleric and leader of Sunni Supreme Council of Hangu and Orakzai Agency Maulana Mohammad Amin at Shahuwam bazaar in Orakzai. Besides six other people, the Maulana himself and his nephew Hafiz Rashid Ahmad were killed and a few others seriously injured. Maulana Amin had reportedly close links with militants.

Later, the local clerics held an emergency meeting and decided to close all Madrassas in Hangu district as a protest. Similarly, all trade and commercial centres as well as government offices were closed after the incident.

The Sunni Supreme Council announced a complete strike for today (Friday) and asked the people to keep their business closed. The planes also targeted an alleged training centre of militants in Khapanga area of Lower Kurram Agency. The camp was reportedly run by local militant commander, Ismail Shah.

Military officials said Maulana Amin had close links with the Taliban militants. An Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement issued here said 40 terrorists were present in the Madrassa during the attack. It said 13 of the terrorists died, which the local administration confirmed. The ISPR spokesman also denied bombing Madrassas and mosques and killing of innocent people. He said the places, which the warplanes pounded, were hideouts of the militants.

Our correspondent from Wana adds: Meanwhile, 10 persons, including six militants and four soldiers, were killed in an exchange of fire near Seplatoi Fort in South Waziristan Agency. Official sources said around 400 militants attacked the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) Seplatoi Fort with rocket launchers and other heavy weapons in the wee hours of Thursday. The troops repulsed militants' attack and exchange of fire continued for a few hours.

According to sources, six militants and four soldiers were killed while seven militants and five soldiers sustained injuries in the exchange of fire. Other reports said 11 militants were killed in the encounter.
